Lay abstract Low back pain (LBP) is one of the factors that hinders the routine and productivity of women. LBP can cause functional disability and negatively interfere with work activities. The increase in pain can be caused by mechanical postural factors (such as behavioral habits), traumatic (such as accidents), and psychosocial factors (such as physical inactivity). Chronic LBP can influence behavioral aspects due to adaptations of pain feedback, such as postures to avoid pain and sedentary lifestyle. In this study, we observed that duration of LBP was related to higher levels of creatine kinase, which is an enzyme of our body that can be related to tissue damage. Moreover, the abdominal circumference, due to the accumulation of fat in this region, presented correlation with higher levels of tissue damage by creatine kinase and longer exposure time with LBP.

Alternative protocols for the treatment of skin lesions have been developed with the use of techniques such as photobiomodulation and phytotherapy, aiming to optimize this process. To evaluate the effectiveness of copaiba (Copaiferalangsdorffii) oil-resin and low-level laser therapy for treating cutaneous wounds, 15 Wistar rats (Rattusnorvergicus) were used, in whom five 8-mm lesions were produced. The following protocols were applied: negative control group (T1); positive control group (T2); laser therapy with AsGa (904 nm), continuous, focal mode for 10 s, dosage of 4 J/cm² (T3); copaiba oil-resin (T4); and association group (copaiba and low-level laser) (T5). The efficacy of each technique was evaluated based on macroscopic aspects of the lesion, wound healing rate, and histopathological analysis (inflammatory infiltrate and collagen expression). The Kruskal-Wallis test was used for statistical analyses (P> 0.05). Copaiba treatment showed an advantage in type III collagen expression, whereas laser therapy demonstrated an enhanced capacity for tissue regeneration. The significant advantage obtained from the association treatment is the improvement of the macroscopic aspect of the wound, with a reduction in crust formation.

Introduction: The improvement of aerobic and anaerobic capacity in athletes of different sports is related to high-intensity exercise performance, which causes cellular microlesions and leads to an inflammatory process necessary for muscle adaptation. Biochemical markers, such as creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), have been used to measure muscle and inflammatory damage to identify the physiological response and improving sports performance. Objective: To describe the changes in the CK and LDH biomarkers after interval running at high intensity. Methods: We conducted a systematic review following the PRISMA guidelines and registered on PROSPERO (CRD42020201678), with a literature search, in February 2021, in the Medline, Lilacs, Scopus, SPORTDiscus, CINAHL, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, Cochrane, and Scielo databases. We used the descriptors “HIIT”, “L-Lactate Dehydrogenase”, “Creatine Kinase” and their synonyms, available in the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). Results: From the 80 studies found, 6 met the inclusion criteria. Of these, four studies showed significant increases in CK and LDH simultaneously, while one study observed a significant increase only in CK and the other study only in LDH. The increases in biomarkers occurred at different magnitudes. The studies’ protocols and the sample characteristics showed high heterogeneity. Conclusion: High-intensity interval running can acutely elevate CK and LDL levels, making them excellent markers for injury risk and exercise load dosing.

The disease caused by the new type of coronavirus, Covid-19, has posed major public health challenges for many countries. With its rapid spread, since the beginning of the outbreak in December 2019, the disease transmitted by SARS-CoV-2 has already caused over 2 million deaths to date. In this work, we propose a web solution, called Heg.IA, to optimize the diagnosis of Covid-19 through the use of artificial intelligence. Our system aims to support decision-making regarding to diagnosis of Covid-19 and to the indication of hospitalization on regular ward, semi-ICU or ICU based on decision a Random Forest architecture with 90 trees. The main idea is that healthcare professionals can insert 41 hematological parameters from common blood tests and arterial gasometry into the system. Then, Heg.IA will provide a diagnostic report. The system reached good results for both Covid-19 diagnosis and to recommend hospitalization. For the first scenario we found average results of accuracy of 92.891%±0.851, kappa index of 0.858 ± 0.017, sensitivity of 0.936 ± 0.011, precision of 0.923 ± 0.011, specificity of 0.921 ± 0.012 and area under ROC of 0.984 ± 0.003. As for the indication of hospitalization, we achieved excellent performance of accuracies above 99% and more than 0.99 for the other metrics in all situations. By using a computationally simple method, based on the classical decision trees, we were able to achieve high diagnosis performance. Heg.IA system may be a way to overcome the testing unavailability in the context of Covid-19. Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma

This article aimed to identify general characteristics, etiology, and location of injuries in Judo athletes. A systematic literature search was carried out up to July 2020 on the databases MEDLINE (via PubMed), LILACS (via BVS), and Science Direct to find studies that focused on the type, location, and causes of injuries in Judo athletes of both sexes and older than 18 years old. The following data were extracted from the studies: author/year, study country, sample size, competition level, injury type, location, and context of the injury. The methodological quality of the included studies was assessed by the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) tool. A total of 727 studies were retrieved from the databases and 12 were selected. The selected studies involved athletes from national and international levels. The situation of training and competition was the most cited context of injury. Considering injury etiology, the location was generalized in most of the studies and the more frequent injury types were: sprains, strains, dislocations, and fractures. In relation to severity, head and neck injuries were described in 66% of the studies. Our results suggest higher awareness related to technical learning strategies to Judo practitioners that is independent of skill level. Since injury etiology is a multifaceted process, increased efforts must be invested to lower or avoid more severe injuries that are more prone to produce negative outcomes like death or disabilities.

Aim: The aim of this study was to describe the effects of the back-squat exercise on the lower limb myoelectric activity in trained men. Methods: We conducted a systematic review following the recommendations of PRISMA. Medline (PubMed), Scielo, Scopus, SPORTDiscus, and Lilacs databases were searched. The search terms included electromyography, exercise, resistance training, and squat. We included experimental studies that described the back-squat exercise using surface electromyography (EMG) in men experienced in resistance training and back squat exercise at angles from 60º to 90º. Results: Eight studies met the inclusion criteria. The interventions of the included studies ranged from 2 to 7 days. The protocols demonstrated to improve the neuromuscular system and to provide greater acquisition of strength in the muscles involved in performing the back-squat exercise (p < 0.05). Thirty-seven muscles were analyzed, with a predominance of the vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, gluteus maximus, and rectus femoris muscles. Conclusion: The studies investigated in this review showed that the back-squat exercise at angles from 60º to 90º increased the lower limb myoelectric activity recorded in loads of 30% and 100% of 1RM in men experienced in resistance training. However, more studies with higher methodological quality are needed in the analysis of the squat exercise to reduce the risk of bias.

Objective To analyze intensity levels, modalities, types of physical activities, ambient temperature, and hydration levels during stimuli performed in training and competitionof studies that reported episodes of rhabdomyolysis in athletes. Method We conducted a systematic review following the PRISMA guidelines and registered on PROSPERO, as number CRD42020126107. MedLine (via PubMed), Cochrane, LILACS, SciELO, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL, SPORTDiscus, ScienceDirect, and PEDro databases were searched for case reports in which professional athletes, who had a technical team as support, were affected by rhabdomyolysis induced by the practice of physical activity. The descriptors and their synonyms “rhabdomyolysis”, “exercise”, and “athletes”, available in the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), were used. Results After the screening process, 10 studies were includedand analyzed according to the CAse REport (CARE) guidelines. The sports of the case reports were soccer, football, swimming, wrestling, 24-hour cross-country skiing, and mixed martial arts (MMA).The age range of the athletes varied between 16 to 41 years old. The case reports described a total of 17 athletes (14 male and three female). The main aspects related to the diagnosis of rhabdomyolysis were ambient temperature, creatine kinase (CK) levels, the occurrence of renal impairment, and one or more signs of the classical triad (myalgia, dark urine, and muscle weakness). Conclusion It was observed difficulty in identifying concrete parameters to prevent and diagnose the rhabdomyolysis of premature form, however, controlling these variables may increase the chances of treatment success and decrease the risk of sequels.

[Advanced online publication on 4 April 2021]. https://doi.org/10.1007/s10462-021-09998-8 This research aims to illustrate the potential use of concepts, techniques, and mining process tools to improve the systematic review process. Thus, a review was performed on two online databases (Scopus and ISI Web of Science) from 2012 to 2019. A total of 9649 studies were identified, which were analyzed using probabilistic topic modeling procedures within a machine learning approach. The Latent Dirichlet Allocation method, chosen for modeling, required the following stages: 1) data cleansing, and 2) data modeling into topics for coherence and perplexity analysis. All research was conducted according to the standards of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses in a fully computerized way. The computational literature review is an integral part of a broader literature review process. The results presented met three criteria: (1) literature review for a research area, (2) analysis and classification of journals, and (3) analysis and classification of academic and individual research teams. The contribution of the article is to demonstrate how the publication network is formed in this particular field of research, and how the content of abstracts can be automatically analyzed to provide a set of research topics for quick understanding and application in future projects. authorsversion published

Resistance training has been commonly used as a method of intervention in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries affecting the knee. Thus, the objective of this systematic review was to identify the methods employed with and without implements in leg press and squat exercises for the maintenance of knee alignment. The literature search was performed in the databases: PubMed, SciELO, and Lilacs. We used the descriptors "muscle strength" and "exercise" and their synonyms, available in the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) and the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), with the terms "valgus knee" and "varus knee". From the 1,117 articles found, eight studies were considered for the review. The included studies had samples composed of young men and women with advanced levels of training. Despite verifying conditions of valgus or varus knee, the studies presented different protocols and assessment methods. The implements comprised physioball, elastic resistance, and wedge. Electromyography and kinematics were used to assess muscle activity and movement patterns. These results reinforced the possibility of using implements to induce muscle and joint actions to reduce varus and valgus conditions. We suggest more studies to define the best strategies to reduce the excessive deviation of the patella in people who have valgus or varus knee.

A new kind of coronavirus, the SARS-Cov2, started the biggest pandemic of the century. It has already killed more than 250,000 people. Due to this fact, it is necessary quick and precise easily available diagnosis tests. The current Covid-19 diagnosis benchmark is RT-PCR with DNA identification, but its results takes too long to be available. Tests based on IgM/IgG antibodies have been used, but their sensitivity and specificity may be very low when viral charge is reduced. Many studies have been demonstrating the Covid-19 impact in hematological parameters. This work proposes an intelligent system to support Covid-19 diagnosis based on blood testing. We employed a dataset provided by Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, a Brazilian private hospital. The database contains the results of more than one hundred laboratory exams, such as blood count, tests for the presence of viruses such as influenza A, and urine tests, of 5644 patients. Among these patients, 559 of them are infected with SARS-Cov2. We used metaheuristics algorithms to reduce the set of We tested several machine learning methods, and we achieved high classification performance: 95.159% +- 0.693 of overall accuracy, kappa index of 0.903 +- 0.014, sensitivity of 0.968 +- 0.007, precision of 0.938 +- 0.010, and specificity of 0.936 +- 0.011. Experimental results pointed out to Bayes Network as the best configuration. In addition, only 24 blood tests were needed. This points to the possibility of a new low cost rapid test based on common blood exams and intelligent software. The desktop version of the system is fully functional and available for free use.

PurposeIn December 2019, the Covid-19 pandemic began in the world. To reduce mortality, in addiction to mass vaccination, it is necessary to massify and accelerate clinical diagnosis, as well as creating new ways of monitoring patients that can help in the construction of specific treatments for the disease.ObjectiveIn this work, we propose rapid protocols for clinical diagnosis of Covid-19 through the automatic analysis of hematological parameters using Evolutionary Computing and Machine Learning. These hematological parameters are obtained from blood tests common in clinical practice.MethodWe investigated the best classifier architectures. Then, we applied the particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) to select the most relevant attributes: serum glucose, troponin, partial thromboplastin time, ferritin, D-dimer, lactic dehydrogenase, and indirect bilirubin. Finally, we used decision trees to build four rapid protocols for Covid-19 clinical diagnosis.ResultsWe developed a web system for Covid-19 diagnosis support. Using a 100-tree Random Forest, we obtained results for accuracy, sensitivity and specificity superior to 99ConclusionBy using a reduced set of hematological parameters common in clinical practice, it was possible to achieve results of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity comparable to those obtained with RT-PCR. It was also possible to automatically generate clinical decision protocols, allowing relatively accurate clinical diagnosis even without the aid of the web decision support system.

- Abstract
This study analyzed the effects of plyometric and strength training on vertical jump (VJ), rating of perceived exertion (RPE), delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS), and absolute (APP) and relative (RPP) muscle peak power in young male football players. Twenty-five participants were randomly divided into semi-squat training group (SSTG), plyometric training group (PTG), and control group (CG). The duration of the intervention was six weeks. VJ was analyzed with a computerized jumping platform. DOMS and RPE with the Borg’s Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and the Adapted Borg Scale (ABS), respectively. The SSTG showed improvements (p < 0.05) in countermovement jump (CMJ), squat jump (SJ), APP (3190.67 ± 338.49 W), and RPP (47.75 ± 5.01 W/kg). PTG showed improvements (p < 0.05) in SJ. In the intragroup comparations, SSTG, PTG, and CG showed an increase (p < 0.05) in RPE and DOMS. Between groups, PTG presented an increase (p < 0.05) on RPE and DOMS compared with SSTG and CG. CMJ presented strong correlations between APP and VJ, RPP, and VJ, and APP and RPP. SJ showed a higher positive correlation between all the physical variables.

- Abstract
Since injury etiology is a multifaceted process, increased efforts must be invested to lower or avoid more severe injuries that are more prone to produce negative outcomes like death or disabilities., El objeto de este estudio consiste en identificar las características generales, etiología y ubicación de las lesiones en los deportistas de Judo.

This study aimed to determine the external load demands of elite Brazilian soccer players by position and playing time, using data from global positioning technology (GPS) at a data acquisition frequency of 10Hz from a Polar Team Pro. Twenty-three professional players from a top-flight Brazilian women's soccer team participated in the study. The women were 27.65 ± 4.66 years, 165.35 ± 5.82 cm and 60.91 ± 5.34 kg. Data were collected during two competitions disputed simultaneously, the The São Paulo State Championship and the Brazilian Championship A1 series of 2019. Nine variables related to the external locomotor demand performed by the players in the disputed matches were analyzed. The statistical procedures used were the two-way ANOVA with Bonferroni post hoc for data adjustment, and Cohen’s effect size (d), with a p-value < .05 adopted to demonstrate statistical significance. The significant differences in the variables total distance, walking distance, jogging distance, running distance, Sprinting distance, acceleration zone 1, acceleration zone 2, deceleration zone 1 and deceleration zone 2 were analyzed, and the results showed a decrease in the external locomotor demand of the loads during the matches played by these athletes. These results should be used to improve load control and adapt training practices in women's soccer teams. Resumen.
