Background Nasopharyngeal oncocytic lesions are a spectrum of benign lesions that represent a reactive or hyperplastic response to chronic inflammation. Though oncocytic lesions are typically asymptomatic, unilateral, and benign, this article discusses a rare case of large, bilateral oncocytic cysts and downstream otologic sequelae with a focus on identifying and discussing similar disease processes. Methods Case report and literature review. Case Presentation: A 67-year-old patient with 57 pack year smoking history presented for one year of left sided hearing loss and aural fullness. Clinic endoscopic exam demonstrated severe inflammatory and cystic changes lining the bilateral tori. Imaging and tissue sampling confirmed the cause was minor salivary gland cysts with papillary projections lined by oncocytic cells within bilateral tori tubarius. He was successfully treated with myringotomy with pressure equalizing tube, counseling on tobacco cessation, and surveillance with serial nasopharyngoscopy. Conclusions Chronic eustachian tube dysfunction is a possible rare presentation and sequelae of large oncocytic cysts of the nasopharynx. Oncocytic cysts should be considered on the differential diagnosis for nasopharyngeal masses causing such dysfunction.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a rapidly progressing global pandemic that may present with a variety of cardiac manifestations including, but not limited to, myocardial injury, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, shock, thromboembolism, and cardiac arrest. These cardiovascular effects are worse in patients who have pre-existing cardiac conditions such as coronary artery disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and coagulation abnormalities. Other predisposing risk factors include advanced age, immunocompromised state, and underlying systemic inflammatory conditions. Here we review the cellular pathophysiology, clinical manifestations and treatment modalities of the cardiac manifestations seen in patients with COVID-19.

Cotton breeding programs aim to develop early-maturing varieties that yield high. Towards this, a study was conducted at the Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad farm, during kharif 2021-22 comprising 20 genotypes. Thirteen early maturity-related traits, along with seed cotton yield were analyzed. The examination indicated significant disparities in the early maturity traits viz., days to first flower (DFF), days to first boll opening (DFB), per cent crop harvested at the first (PCH-1) and second pickings (PCH-2), Bartlett’s Index (BI), node number of the first fruiting branch (NNFFB), plant height (PH), earliness percentage (EP), mean maturity date (MMD) and production rate index (PRI). Some traits, including PCH-1, PCH-2 and PRI presented higher estimations of GCV and PCV, along with high heritability and genetic advance, making them reliable indicators for selection. Seed cotton yield showed a significant negative correlation with DFF, DFB and MMD. Conversely, it showed a significant positive correlation with the PRI, PCH-1, PCH-2 and BI. Furthermore, DFB and PRI exhibited highly significant direct positive effects, while DFF had a negative direct effect, followed by the FBP. Based on this study, the genotypes ESS-3, ESS-20, NNDC-30 and S-32 were identified as early-maturing compared to ESS-13, FLT-25 and URT-21. The effect of gauge length and strain rate parameters on tensile properties of Kevlar®29 yarn has been studied. Six distinct gauge lengths have been subjected to a comprehensive evaluation of tensile properties. Similarly, five distinct strain rates are used to examine the strain rate's effects. ANOVA has been carried out to analyse the co-relation between and with-in the tensile properties of Kevlar® 29 yarns samples. Experimental results indicate that the mechanical properties of Kevlar®29 are sensitive to gauge length and strain rate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Radiotherapy is a common cancer treatment, but often results in unintended injury to overlying skin and contributes to poor wound healing. The mechanisms underlying these changes are complex, and existing treatment is limited. We aimed to systematically review the literature on the pathogenesis, management, and experimental treatment of delayed wound healing following radiation therapy. Study Design/Methods: A literature search was performed following PRISMA-P guidelines. PubMed and the Cochrane Library were queried for full-text English articles published up to 2016 by using key search terms including “radiotherapy” and “wound healing.” Additional resources were retrieved from reference lists. The selected articles discussed mechanisms of pathogenesis, current management, and experimental treatment of radiation-induced skin injury. These are reported as a qualitative synthesis of the literature from the authors' perspective. Results: The literature search yielded 442 articles, of which 93 were included in this review. Ionizing radiation causes DNA damage by direct strand breaks and oxygen-derived free radicals. This insult results in cellular alterations that underlie mechanisms of delayed wound healing. Prominent theories underlying pathogenesis include cellular depletion, stromal cell dysfunction, aberrant collagen deposition, and microvascular damage. Pro-inflammatory cytokines and free radical cascades contribute to chronic radiation damage, with transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-β1) implicated as a key player in the process of fibrosis. At present, radiation injury is managed medically with conventional wound care with minimal success and limited evidence-based data. Surgical management with local or free flap transfer is often compromised by poor surrounding tissue and recipient vasculature. Experimental treatment models are emerging that target mechanisms of pathogenesis. These modalities include stem cell repletion, antioxidant therapy, TGF-β1 modulation, and implantable biomaterials. Conclusion: Pathogenesis of delayed wound healing and fibrosis following radiotherapy is a complex, interdependent process involving cellular depletion, extracellular matrix changes, microvascular damage, and altered pro-inflammatory mediators. Current treatment is limited, and more Level I studies are needed to develop best-practice recommendations. Investigatory treatment options targeting specific mechanisms of injury may offer potential solutions to this significant clinical and surgical problem.

In Cloud Computing, the data stored in the external servers may be tampered or deleted by unauthorized persons or selfish Cloud Service Providers (CSPs). Hence, the Cloud Data Owners (CDOs) have to provide assurance to the integrity and correctness of the stored data in the server. In this paper, a Verification of Data Integrity and Co-operative Loss Recovery technique for secure data storage in Cloud Computing is proposed. In this technique, a ciphertext file is split into various cipher blocks and distributed to randomly selected cloud service providers (CSPs) by the cloud data owner (CDO). If a cloud data user (CDU) wants to access any file, the corresponding ciphertext file is reconstructed from the blocks and downloaded by the user. The file can be decrypted if the attribute set of the user matches the access policy of the application. By simulation results, we show that the proposed technique enhances the data integrity and confidentiality.
