Introduction Posterior cerebral artery acute ischemic strokes (PCA‐AIS) comprise around 2% of all acute ischemic strokes and often results in significant long‐term deficits. Current guidance regarding endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for PCA occlusion is insufficient as no randomized trials exist. Methods A real‐world retrospective National Inpatient Sample database analysis compared medical management (MM) versus EVT for PCA strokes. Propensity score matching based on medical co‐morbidities was applied to adjust for nonrandomization. Subgroup analysis based on their initial stroke severity was conducted, comparing outcomes within subgroups of NIHSS 0‐9, 10‐19, and ≥20. Additional subgroup analysis was conducted to compare patients receiving IVT vs those not. Results The study included 19,655 patients, 18,910 MM, and 745 EVT. Among the unmatched patients, the EVT cohort had significantly higher NIHSS (10.21 vs 4.67, p < 0.001). In the unmatched analysis, the EVT‐treatment group also demonstrated lower rates of favorable functional outcomes, functional independence, and higher rates of ICH and in‐patient mortality. Matched analysis showed no differences in functional outcomes but higher inpatient mortality and ICH rates in the EVT treatment group. Subgroup analysis identified higher odds of favorable functional outcomes and functional independence associated with EVT among patients presenting with intermediate NIHSS (10‐19). On further subgroup analysis, this EVT benefit was maintained only among patients receiving IVT. Conclusion This analysis demonstrates that, across the population, patients receiving EVT for PCA AIS are more severe and in general, have worse outcomes than patients receiving MM only. However, on matched analysis there does seem to be a significant clinical benefit associated with EVT for patients presenting with an NIHSS between 10‐19 and this benefit appears to be associated with patients who have also received IVT. More research is needed for optimal patient selection when considering EVT for PCA.

Cockroaches are very capable of mechanically transmitting harmful microorganisms, which is seen to be a severe hazard to the general public's health. The purpose of this study was the evaluation of cockroach bacterial contamination in various locations throughout Babylon. 300 cockroaches were caught from different wards of the hospital, restaurants, and houses. Using PBS buffer, the external surface of the cockroaches was washed to collect bacteria. Standard phenotypic methods were used to identify and classify bacteria. Afterward, the bacterial resistance to different antibiotics was investigated using the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion susceptibility test. The 200 (66.6 %) American cockroaches including 56 (18.7 %) Blattella germanica and 44 (14.6 %) Blatta orientalis were identified. Noteworthy, 96.6 % of cockroaches were infected with different bacteria. Bacillus strains, coagulase-negative Staphylococci (CoNs), and Escherichia coli were the most frequent among the isolated bacteria. On average, the highest antibiotic resistance was detected to cefotaxime, ampicillin, cephalothin, and kanamycin. On the other hand, the isolated bacteria showed high sensitivity to gentamicin, nitrofurantoin, tetracycline, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (SXT), and chloramphenicol. high antibiotic resistance in bacteria isolated from different wards of the hospital and the high potential of transmission of these bacteria by cockroaches is a serious warning for the health of society.

The fourth common reason of death among patients is gastric cancer (GC) and it is a dominant tumor type in Ease Asia. One of the problems in GC therapy is chemoresistance. Cisplatin (CP) is a platinum compound that causes DNA damage in reducing tumor progression and viability of cancer cells. However, due to hyperactivation of drug efflux pumps, dysregulation of genes and interactions in tumor microenvironment, tumor cells can develop resistance to CP chemotherapy. The current review focuses on the CP resistance emergence in GC cells with emphasizing on molecular pathways, pharmacological compounds for reversing chemoresistance and the role of nanostructures. Changes in cell death mechanisms such as upregulation of pro-survival autophagy can prevent CP-mediated apoptosis that results in drug resistance. Moreover, increase in metastasis via EMT induction induces CP resistance. Dysregulation of molecular pathways such as PTEN, PI3K/Akt, Nrf2 and others result in changes in CP response of GC cells. Non-coding RNAs determine CP response of GC cells and application of pharmacological compounds with activity distinct of CP can result in sensitivity in tumor cells. Due to efficacy of exosomes in transferring bioactive molecules such as RNA and DNA molecules among GC cells, exosomes can also result in CP resistance. One of the newest progresses in overcoming CP resistance in GC is application of nanoplatforms for delivery of CP in GC therapy that they can increase accumulation of CP at tumor site and by suppressing carcinogenic factors and overcoming biological barriers, they increase CP toxicity on cancer cells.

In this research, the magnesium ferrite/zinc oxide (MgFe2O4/ZnO) nanocomposite has been utilized as an effective adsorbent in the ultrasound-assisted dispersive solid-phase extraction (USA-DSPE) coupled to a spectrophotometric method for preconcentration of methylene blue (MB) and safranin O (SO) dyes. X-Ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) analyses were performed to characterize and confirm the properties of the synthesized MgFe2O4/ZnO nanocomposite. Box-Behnken design (BBD) based on response surface methodology (RSM) was utilized to optimize the variables. The results of this research showed that the maximum extraction efficiency was obtained at pH = 7, eluent volume of 140 µL, adsorbent amount of 1.53 mg, and ultrasonic time of 8 min. After optimization by RSM and using the Quadratic model, the extraction efficiency for MB and SO was 98.60% and 97.23%, respectively. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the data obtained from the experiment were consistent with the predicted model. Under optimal conditions, the calibration curve was linear in the range of 5–1000 µg/L (coefficient of determination of 0.9884) for MB and 10–1100 µg/L (coefficient of determination of 0.9973) for SO. The limit of detections (LOD) of the proposed method for MB and SO were determined as 1.5 µg/L and 3 µg/L, respectively. The relative standard deviations (RSD, n = 5) for MB and SO were obtained as 1.1% and 2.1%, respectively. The results of adsorbent recovery revealed that MgFe2O4/ZnO nanocomposite could be used several times without a significant adsorbent efficiency loss. Furthermore, the findings of interference studies revealed that the presence of different ions does not cause substantial interference with the extraction of dyes. The environmental water samples analysis showed that the extraction efficiency for dyes was in the range of 93.74–99.11%.

Abstract Oncolytic viruses (OVs) infect, multiply, and finally remove tumor cells selectively, causing no damage to normal cells in the process. Because of their specific features, such as, the ability to induce immunogenic cell death and to contain curative transgenes in their genomes, OVs have attracted attention as candidates to be utilized in cooperation with immunotherapies for cancer treatment. This treatment takes advantage of most tumor cells' inherent tendency to be infected by certain OVs and both innate and adaptive immune responses are elicited by OV infection and oncolysis. OVs can also modulate tumor microenvironment and boost anti-tumor immune responses. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are gathering interest as promising anti-cancer treatments with the ability to address a wide range of cancers. MSCs exhibit tumor-trophic migration characteristics, allowing them to be used as delivery vehicles for successful, targeted treatment of isolated tumors and metastatic malignancies. Preclinical and clinical research were reviewed in this study to discuss using MSC-released OVs as a novel method for the treatment of cancer. Video Abstract

Abstract The pressures of daily life result in a proliferation of terms such as stress, anxiety, and mood swings. These feelings may be developed to depression and more complicated mental problems. Unfortunately, the mood and emotional changes are difficult to notice and considered a disease that must be treated until late. The late diagnosis appears in suicidal intensions and harmful behaviors. In this work, main human observable facial behaviors are detected and classified by a model that has developed to assess a person’s mental health. Haar feature-based cascade is used to extract the features from the detected faces from FER+ dataset. VGG model classifies if the user is normal or abnormal. Then in the case of abnormal, the model predicts if he has depression, anxiety, or other disorder according to the detected facial expression. The required assistance and support can be provided in a timely manner with this prediction. The system has achieved a 95% of overall prediction accuracy.

Vaccine-associated side effects influence vaccine hesitancy. This study investigated the prevalence, severity, and onset of side effects following the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines among physicians and dentists working in various healthcare settings across India.Methods: A cross-sectional survey collected self-report data from April to June 2021 on side effects following the first dose of the vaccine. An online validated questionnaire using the Google Docs® platform was circulated via email and social media platforms.Results: More than 40% of participants experienced at least one side effect after the first dose of vaccination; the most common were mild and resolved within three days after vaccination. More than 91% of respondents received the Covishield (AstraZeneca) vaccine; the most prevalent adverse effects were soreness of the injected arm (78.9%), tiredness (71.1%), and fever (54.9%). Logistic regression showed that women were almost 60% less likely to report side effects.Conclusion: Findings supported the safety of the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine based on relatively few self-limiting side effects, mainly soreness of the injected arm and tiredness. Further research is needed to determine the long-term safety of COVID-19 vaccines, especially after booster doses.Keywords: prevalence, adverse effects, COVID-19 vaccine, physicians, dentists, India

Chondroid hamartoma is the most common benign tumor of lung, which account 8% of pulmonary neoplasm. Most often they are seen peripherally in the lung parenchyma. But very rarely it can originate endo-bronchially and present as collapse of lung or lobe. To be precise less than 10% cases was reported to be found. Here we mention a case of endobronchial chondroid hamartoma in a 63 years old gentleman presented as right middle lobe collapse and was diagnosed after repeated attempts of bronchoscopic biopsy or trans-thoracic fine needle aspiration. The tumor was removed by bronchoscopic cryo-debulking of the mass almost completely instead of thoracotomy resection or APC laser ablation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ETABS software is used to analyze the structural response of reinforced concrete (RCC) and post-tensioned (PT) slabs under lateral loading. This study investigates RCC and PT slabs’ behavior by using finite element analysis to determine bending moments, shear forces, and storey drift. Prestrassed slabs display lower bending moments and shear forces than RCC slabs, demonstrating the effectiveness of prestressing in reducing structural requirements. A reduction in storey drift also indicates improved resistance to lateral deformations in PT slabs. In terms of structural performance and cost-effectiveness, PT slabs offer potential benefits for constructing layouts and construction, making them an attractive choice.

This study optimizes the production of activated carbon (AC) from two distinct agricultural wastes, barley husk and maize cob. The process is refined using the Taguchi method with the goal of enhancing water treatment techniques. The study emphasizes how crucial it is to make the transition towards renewable and affordable raw materials for the manufacturing of AC given the predicted expansion of the worldwide demand for AC. The study assessed the impact of four crucial variables on the production and quality of AC using a L9 orthogonal array: phosphoric acid concentration, heating by microwave time, power from the microwave, and nitrogen flow rate. Findings indicated that the most important element for maximizing the production of AC from these agricultural leftovers was microwave power, along with the percentage of phosphoric acid and the time frame of the heating process.

Although floating columns can be useful and an achievable choice, it is important to research their structural performance and cost-effectiveness in the event of substantial ground motion imposed on by an earthquake. A building’s overall dimensions, geometry, and shape all impact how it acts and acts when subjected to seismic loads. For this reason, it is necessary to assess how well floating column buildings perform in seismically vulnerable places in comparison to conventional buildings. In this work, the performance of structures with floating columns for seismic loading is observed using dynamic analytic techniques in accordance with IS 1893 (2005). This study analyses both the floating columns and the conventional building without floating columns. When compared to a regular building, the research reveals that the floating column buildings exhibit a very quick increase in base shear and story displacement. The horizontal displacements experienced by floating column buildings are proportionally larger due to an increase in the fundamental time period. If the lateral displacement exceeds the codespecified maximum limit, damage to structural and non-structural parts may result. Because of the discontinuity in the load distribution path, seismic base shear and overturning moment are also increasing in the case of buildings with floating columns. Additionally, while asymmetrically introducing floating columns, torsional irregularity has been produced but the modal mass participation ratio has decreased. The Indian Government is providing grains to those in need at affordable prices through a process known as the Public Distribution System. However, the current distribution methods employed in the public distribution system rely on manual processes, which may lead to errors, be time-consuming, and foster corruption. To address these issues, the proposed work employs Advanced Interdisciplinary Techniques such as RFID cards and readers to authenticate ration cardholders and ensure precise ration dispensing, significantly reducing inaccuracies and fraudulent activities. Furthermore, it incorporates a GSM-based mechanism with OTP authentication, adding an extra layer of security and efficiency. The GSM module sends a one-time password (OTP) to the user’s registered mobile number before dispensing rations, ensuring that only authorized individuals receive their entitled goods. Customers can select the goods they need from the allocation provided by the Government, and the amount will be automatically deducted from their RFID card based on the goods selected. A microcontroller manages the motor and relay to dispense items, while an alarm system alerts in cases of incorrect OTP entries, effectively deterring unauthorized access to rations. This system promises to make the ration distribution process more efficient, transparent, and accountable. In order to improve and restore the functions of biological tissues and organs as well as for the identification and treatment of diseases, biomedical materials a developing subject of materials science are indispensable. Materials like these are frequently employed in many different medical equipment employed in clinical settings, such as scaffolding, sutures, substitute teeth, artificial bones, and even heart replacements. Innovative methods for identifying, treating, and regaining physiological functions have been made possible by biomedical materials, which have completely changed the healthcare industry. The development, categorization, and therapeutic uses of biomedical materials are examined in this study, with a focus on metallic biomaterials, synthetic polymers, and bio ceramics in addition to their biologically derived counterparts, such as collagen, silk, chitosan, and alginate. The functionality of medical devices has been significantly advanced by bioengineering improvements, that have produced healing implants and progressive diagnostic imaging that improve patient effects. This evaluation explores the capacity of nanomaterials in biomedicine, current wound dressings, and antimicrobial methods, highlighting the limitations and destiny opportunities inside the creation of extra powerful therapy and minimally harmful diagnostic tools.

Biosensors are essential for transforming biological signals into electrical ones and have a wide range of uses in the biomedical, agricultural, and environmental fields. A biosensor is a device that combines biological and physicochemical elements to detect changes in physiological or biochemical states. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the development and application of enzymatic and immunological biosensors, emphasizing their significant role in environmental, agricultural, and biomedical sectors. By leveraging the unique properties of natural polysaccharides, particularly cellulose, for their construction, these biosensors offer enhanced biocompatibility, robust mechanical strength, and costeffectiveness. This study discusses the principles underlying biosensors, including their biological recognition elements, transduction mechanisms, and output systems. Enzymatic biosensors, characterized by their use of enzymes as bio receptors, and immunological biosensors, utilizing antibodies or antigens for the detection of immunocomplex formation, are evaluated in detail. Through comparative analysis, the paper highlights the diverse functionalities, sensitivities, and applications of these biosensors, ranging from glucose and hydrogen peroxide detection to monitoring of protein markers and E. coli bacteria. The study underscores the biosensors’ ability for facilitating rapid, incredibly sensitive, and specific detection capabilities, critical for advancing scientific diagnostics, environmental surveillance, and food protection.

Composites are replacing more conventional materials due to their advantageous properties, such as high strength, hardness, low weight, and wear resistance. In this study, the stir casting method is used to create an Al7075/SiC aluminium matrix composite, and its dry sliding wear behaviour is examined. The EDX and SEM results both show that the silicon carbide is evenly distributed throughout the matrix. The dry sliding wear behaviour of the composites is investigated using the Taguchi L16 orthogonal array to reduce the number of experimental runs. Four key process parameters—reinforcement quantity (0%, 3%, 6%, and 9%), load (15N, 30N, 45N, and 60N), sliding velocity (0.75m/s), sliding distance (1.5m/s), and sliding distance (3m/s)—are evaluated across four levels to determine the best parameter combination for reducing wear rate. S/N ratios are best when the following conditions are met: 3 wt.% SiC reinforcement, 15 N load, 3 m/s sliding velocity, and 800 m sliding distance (as shown in the main effect graphic). Wear rate, frictional force, and coefficient of friction are all affected by the four process parameters, and their effects are often studied using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) outcome indicated that the probability value associated with the applied load was below 0.05, signifying statistical significance.

This work investigates the impact of several polymer matrix types, which are utilised as a capping layer around gold particles, on the optical properties. Nanocomposite materials consisting of gold and polymers such as polyethylene oxide, polyvinyl alcohol, and polyvinyl pyrrolidone were produced by a chemical reduction process. Tri sodium citrate was employed as the reducing agent. using the drop casting approach, nanocomposites based on gold were successfully put as a film on glass substrates.. An investigation was conducted to determine the influence of the polymer matrix type on the optical properties, including surface plasmon resonance, direct band gap, and indirect band gap. Furthermore, the absorption spectra of the materials that were synthesised demonstrated that the selection of the polymer that was utilised during the preparation process has a considerable impact on the location of the plasmonic absorption peak as well as the magnitude of the energy gap. Nanocomposites materials of silver (Ag) with polyethene oxide, venal polyalcohol and polyvinyl pyrrolidone were synthesized by chemical reduction method using trisodium citrate (TSC) as a reduction agent. Silver based nanocomposites deposited as a film by dropcasting technique on (2x2 cm2) glass substrates. The effect of polymer matrix type on the optical properties (surface plasmon resonance, transmission and direct and indirect bandgap) were investigated. It was observed from the absorption spectra of the various synthesized materials that the type of polymer used in the preparation process significantly influences the location of the plasmonic absorption peak and the amount of the energy gap.
