Designing a functional end plate for the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is a challenging task since the structure that simultaneously satisfies uniform contact pressure and lightweight features must be achieved. To design an end plate for both requirements, a multi‐objective topology optimization model of the PEMFC based on the concept of equivalent stiffness is established with the aim of maximum stiffness and minimum root mean square (RMS) of contact displacement. Based on the final topology, the filled honeycomb‐based end plates with excellent mechanical properties and energy absorption effects are optimized through the particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO). The results demonstrate that the end plate mass is reduced by 39.5% and the stress distribution is more uniform. A newly synthesis composite thin films of poly(vinyl chloride) has been refinement with ionic liquid, where PVC dissolved in THF with various concentrations of IL by casting method to form the composite thin films, without any reaction and IL dangles within PVC matrix. The thin films were examined by the diffusive reflectance device under the wavelength range (238–1300 nm). The XRD, EDX, and AFM techniques were utilized to discover the structure of the PVC matrix after additive IL. The XRD analysis illustrated the amorphous structure of the films, while the EDS analysis illustrated the main composition of pure PVC and composite PVC/IL. The optical properties and optical parameters were studied. The reflectance, extinction factor, transmittance, and imaginary dielectric constant declined, the absorption value was between (80–89 %), and the refractive index, real dielectric constant, and optical conductivity were increased. The indirect energy gap declined from 4.2 eV to 2.2 eV and the direct energy gap declined from 3.7 eV to 2.6 eV. The Urbach energy was increased from 2.09 eV to 15.45 eV revealing an increase in the disorders of electrons. The E d increased from 23.42 eV to 70.68 eV and E o increased from 7.00 eV to 10.88 eV. AFM analysis illustrated the roughness of the films increased after additive IL to the PVC Matrix from 1.08 nm to 4.45 nm and the root mean square of the particles ranged from 1.57 nm to 5.56 nm. Dynamic vision sensor (DVS) imaging quality is significantly affected by pixel noise and temporal contrast (TC), which is inversely proportional to sensitivity. To reduce the noise event rate and improve sensitivity in bright‐light conditions in the DVS pixel circuit, this paper proposes improvements to the conventional DVS pixel circuit. The proposed DVS pixel circuit adopts stacked medium‐threshold transistors instead of a single high‐threshold transistor in the photoreceptor and introduces a threshold switching circuit. Compared with the conventional DVS pixel circuit, this design increases event threshold normalized by root mean square (RMS) noise voltage, reducing the dim‐light noise bandwidth. Additionally, it achieves higher sensitivity in bright‐light conditions compared with dim‐light conditions. The proposed DVS pixel circuit is implemented in a 110‐nm complementary metal‐oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process. Post‐simulation results show that, for photocurrents between 5 fA and 100 pA, the proposed DVS pixel circuit achieves a 35 Hz peak event rate at 15% TC, which is reduced to 3.1% of the conventional structure. For photocurrents exceeding 30 pA, the proposed structure can switch TC from 15% to 5%, maintaining a noise event rate below 0.1 Hz. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

AbstractA popular measure of model fit in structural equation modeling (SEM) is the standardized root mean squared residual (SRMR) fit index. Equivalence testing has been used to evaluate model fit in structural equation modeling (SEM) but has yet to be applied to SRMR. Accordingly, the present study proposed equivalence-testing based fit tests for the SRMR (ESRMR). Several variations of ESRMR were introduced, incorporating different equivalence bounds and methods of computing confidence intervals. A Monte Carlo simulation study compared these novel tests with traditional methods for evaluating model fit. The results demonstrated that certain ESRMR tests based on an analytic computation of the confidence interval correctly reject poor-fitting models and are well-powered for detecting good-fitting models. We also present an illustrative example with real data to demonstrate how ESRMR may be incorporated into model fit evaluation and reporting. Despite therapeutic advancements, cervical cancer caused by high-risk subtypes of the human papillomavirus (HPV) remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide. This study aimed to discover potential drug candidates from the Asian medicinal plant Andrographis paniculata, demonstrating efficacy against the E6 protein of high-risk HPV-16 subtype through an in-silico computational approach. The 3D structures of 32 compounds (selected from 42) derived from A. paniculata, exhibiting higher binding affinity, were obtained from the PubChem database. These structures underwent subsequent analysis and screening based on criteria including binding energy, molecular docking, drug likeness and toxicity prediction using computational techniques. Considering the spectrometry, pharmacokinetic properties, docking results, drug likeliness, and toxicological effects, five compounds—stigmasterol, 1H-Indole-3-carboxylic acid, 5-methoxy-, methyl ester (AP7), andrographolide, apigenin and wogonin—were selected as the potential inhibitors against the E6 protein of HPV-16. We also performed 200 ns molecular dynamics simulations of the compounds to analyze their stability and interactions as protein–ligand complexes using imiquimod (CID-57469) as a control. Screened compounds showed favorable characteristics, including stable root mean square deviation values, minimal root mean square fluctuations and consistent radius of gyration values. Intermolecular interactions, such as hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic contacts, were sustained throughout the simulations. The compounds displayed potential affinity, as indicated by negative binding free energy values. Overall, findings of this study suggest that the selected compounds have the potential to act as inhibitors against the E6 protein of HPV-16, offering promising prospects for the treatment and management of CC. Radiologists employ mammograms for the detection of breast cancer in patients, particularly as breast cancer exhibits higher incidence rates in women. Early identification of breast cancer significantly reduces the risk of mortality. Mammograms serve as a valuable imaging technique for the early detection of breast cancer. However, accurately characterizing breast cancer images poses a considerable challenge. A recent research study introduced an innovative algorithm for Mammogram Pectoral Muscle Removal, leveraging Entropy-Based Fuzzy C-means clustering and Classification using RMCNN (Root Mean Squares Convolutional Neural Network). The process involves extracting and pre-processing the input breast image from the dataset through Gaussian filtering. Subsequently, pectoral muscle removal is achieved via entropy-based fuzzy C-Means clustering, followed by DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) and DWT (Discrete wavelet transforms) feature extraction. The Root Mean Square Value-based Convolutional Neural Network classifier effectively clusters mammography images into normal, malignant, and benign classes, achieving an impressive 99.45% accuracy far better than existing methods with accuracies of 93%, 89%, and 60%. Inertial measurement unit (IMU)-based motion sensors are affordable, and their use is appropriate for rehabilitation. However, regarding the accuracy of estimated angle information obtained from this sensor, it is reported that it is likely affected by velocity.The present study investigated the reliability and validity of the angle information obtained using IMU-based sensors compared with a three-dimensional (3D) motion analyzer.The Euler angle obtained using the 3D motion analyzer and the angle obtained using the IMU-based sensor (IMU angle) were compared. Reliability was assessed by comparing the Bland–Altman analysis, intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) (1,1), and cross-correlation function. The root mean square (RMS) error, ICC (2,1), and cross-correlation function were used to compare data on the Euler and IMU angles to evaluate the validity.Regarding reliability, the Bland–Atman analysis indicated no fixed or proportional bias in the angle measurements. The measurement errors ranged from 0.2° to 3.2°. In the validity, the RMS error ranged from 0.3° to 2.2°. The ICCs (2,1) were 0.9. Context. The measurement of pulsar pulse times-of-arrival (ToAs) is a crucial step in detecting low-frequency gravitational waves. To determine ToAs, we can use template-matching to compare each observed pulse profile with a standard template. However, using different combinations of templates and template-matching methods (TMMs) without careful consideration can lead to inconsistent results. Aims. In pulsar timing array (PTA) experiments, distinct ToAs from the same observations can be obtained due to the use of diverse templates and TMMs. In other words, employing diverse approaches can yield different timing results and would thus have a significant impact on subsequent gravitational wave searches. In this paper we examine several commonly used combinations to analyze their effect on pulse ToAs. Methods. We evaluated the potential impact of template and TMM selection on 13 typical millisecond pulsars within the European PTA. We employed pulsar timing methods, specifically the root mean square and reduced chi-square (χ2r) of the residuals of the best timing solution, to assess the outcomes. Additionally, we evaluated the system-limited noise floor (SLNF) for each pulsar at various telescopes operating around 1.4 GHz using frequency-resolved templates. Results. Our findings suggest that utilizing data-derived and smoothed templates in conjunction with the Fourier-domain with Markov chain Monte Carlo TMM is generally the most effective approach, though there may be exceptions that require further attention. Furthermore, we determine that pulse phase jitter noise does not significantly limit the current precision of the European PTA's timing, as jitter levels derived from other studies are much lower than the SLNF. Due to the low-complexity implementation, direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation-based one-bit quantized data are of interest, but also, signal processing struggles to obtain the demanded estimation accuracy. In this study, we injected a number of noise components into the receiving data before the uniform linear array (ULA) composed of one-bit quantizers. Then, based on this designed noise-boosted quantizer unit (NBQU), we propose an efficient one-bit multiple signal classification (MUSIC) method for estimating the DOA. Benefiting from the injected noise, the numerical results show that the proposed NBQU-based MUSIC method outperforms existing one-bit MUSIC methods in terms of estimation accuracy and resolution. Furthermore, with the optimal root mean square (RMS) of the injected noise, the estimation accuracy of the proposed method for estimating DOA can approach that of the MUSIC method based on the complete analog data. Breast cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women globally, necessitating the development of more effective therapeutic agents with minimal side effects. This study explores novel 1,2,4-triazine-3(2H)-one derivatives as potential inhibitors of Tubulin, a pivotal protein in cancer cell division, highlighting a targeted approach in cancer therapy. Using an integrated computational approach, we combined quantitative structure–activity relationship (QSAR) modeling, ADMET profiling, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulations to evaluate and predict the efficacy and stability of these compounds. Our QSAR models, developed through rigorous statistical analysis, revealed that descriptors such as absolute electronegativity and water solubility significantly influence inhibitory activity, achieving a predictive accuracy (R2) of 0.849. Molecular docking studies identified compounds with high binding affinities, particularly Pred28, which exhibited the best docking score of − 9.6 kcal/mol. Molecular dynamics simulations conducted over 100 ns provided further insights into the stability of these interactions. Pred28 demonstrated notable stability, with the lowest root mean square deviation (RMSD) of 0.29 nm and root mean square fluctuation (RMSF) values indicative of a tightly bound conformation to Tubulin. The novelty of this work lies in its methodological rigor and the integration of multiple advanced computational techniques to pinpoint compounds with promising therapeutic potential. Our findings advance the current understanding of Tubulin inhibitors and open avenues for the synthesis and experimental validation of these compounds, aiming to offer new solutions for breast cancer treatment. The maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) power plants is of central importance for their yield. To reach higher efficiencies in PV parks, it is helpful to detect soiling such as dust deposition and to apply this information to optimize cleaning strategies. Furthermore, a periodic inspection of the PV modules with infrared (IR) imagery is of advantage to detect and potentially remove faulty PV modules. Soiling can be erroneously interpreted as PV module defects and hence spatially resolved soiling measurements can improve the results of IR-based PV inspection. So far, soiling measurements are mostly performed only locally in PV fields, thus not supporting the above-mentioned IR inspections. This study presents a method for measuring the soiling of PV modules at cell resolution using RGB images taken by aerial drones under sunny conditions. The increase in brightness observed for soiled cells under evaluation, compared to clean cells, is used to calculate the transmission loss of the soiling layer. Photos of a clean PV module and a soiled module for which the soiling loss is measured electrically are used to determine the relation between the brightness increase and the soiling loss. To achieve this, the irradiance at the time of the image acquisitions and the viewing geometry are considered. The measurement method has been validated with electrical measurements of the soiling loss yielding root mean square deviations in the 1% absolute range. The Arctic is one of the most important regions in the world's oceans for understanding the impacts of a changing climate. Yet, it is also difficult to measure because of extreme weather and ice conditions. In this work, we directly compare four datasets from the Group for High-Resolution Sea Surface Temperature (GHRSST) with a NASA Saildrone deployment along the Alaskan Coast and the Bering Sea and Bering Strait. The four datasets used are the Remote Sensing Systems Microwave Infrared Optimally Interpolated (MWIR) product, the Canadian Meteorological Center (CMC) product, the Daily Optimally Interpolated Product (DOISST), and the Operational Sea Surface Temperature and Ice Analysis (OSTIA) product. Spatial sea surface temperature (SST) gradients were derived for both the Saildrone deployment and GHRSST products, with the GHRSST products collocated with the Saildrone deployment. Overall, statistics indicate that the OSTIA product had a correlation of 0.79 and a root mean square difference of 0.11 °C/km when compared with Saildrone. CMC had the highest correlation of 0.81. Scatter plots indicate that OSTIA had the slope closest to one, thus best reproducing the magnitudes of the Saildrone gradients. Differences increased at latitudes > 65°N where sea ice would have a greater impact. A trend analysis was then performed on the gradient fields. Overall, positive trends in gradients occurred in areas along the coastal regions. A negative trend occurred at approximately 60°N. A major finding of this study is that future work needs to revolve around the impact of changing ice conditions on SST gradients. Another major finding is that a northward shift in the southern ice edge occurred after 2010 with a maxima at approximately 2019. This indicates that the shift of the southern ice edge is not gradual but has dramatically increased over the last decade. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of caffeine on heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV) at rest and during submaximal exercise. Using a balanced, double-blind, randomized, crossover design, 16 male cyclists (age: 37 ± 9 years; $\dot {\rm V}$V˙O2max: 4.44 ± 0.67 L·min−1) completed three trials in an air-conditioned laboratory. In Trial 1, cyclists completed two incremental cycling tests to establish the ${\dot {\rm V}}$V˙O2-power output relationship and $\dot {\rm V}$V˙O2max. In trials 2 and 3, cyclists were evaluated for heart rate and HRV at rest, after which they ingested a capsule containing 5 mg·kg−1 of caffeine or placebo. Thirty-five minutes post-supplementation, additional resting heart rate and HRV readings were taken after which cyclists completed a submaximal incremental cycling test (6 min stages) at 40–80% of ${\dot {\rm V}}$V˙O2max; with HR and HRV measurements taken in the last 5 min of each increment. HRV was determined from the root mean square of successive differences between R–R intervals. There were significant supplement × exercise intensity interactions on heart rate (p = .019) and HRV (p = .023), with post hoc tests on the latter showing that caffeine increased HRV at 40%, 50%, and 60% of ${\dot {\rm V}}$V˙O2max by 3.6 ± 4.9, 2.6 ± 2.8, and 0.6 ± 1.7 ms, respectively. There was a supplement × time interaction effect on resting HRV (p < .001), but not on heart rate (p = .351). This study assessed muscle activity (root mean square, RMS, and median frequency, MDF) to evaluate the acute response to blood flow restriction (BFR) resistance exercise (RE) and conventional moderate intensity (MI) RE. We also performed exploratory analyses of differences based on sex and exercise‐induced hypoalgesia (EIH). Fourteen asymptomatic individuals performed four sets of unilateral leg press with their dominant leg to volitional fatigue under two exercise conditions: BFR RE and MI RE. Dominant side rectus femoris (RF) and vastus lateralis (VL) muscle activity were measured using surface electromyography (sEMG) through exercise. RMS and MDF were calculated and compared between conditions and timepoints using a linear mixed model. Pressure pain thresholds (PPT) were tested before and immediately after exercise and used to quantify EIH. Participants were then divided into EIH responders and nonresponders, and the differences on RMS and MDF were compared between the two groups using Hedges' g. RMS significantly increased over time (RF: p = 0.0039; VL: p = 0.001) but not between conditions (RF: p = 0.4; VL: p = 0.67). MDF decreased over time (RF: p = 0.042; VL: p < 0.001) but not between conditions (RF: p = 0.74; VL: p = 0.77). Consistently lower muscle activation was found in females compared with males (BRF, RF: g = 0.63; VL, g = 0.5. MI, RF: g = 0.72; VL: g = 1.56), with more heterogeneous findings in MDF changes. For BFR, EIH responders showed greater RMS changes (Δ RMS) (RF: g = 0.90; VL: g = 1.21) but similar MDF changes (Δ MDF) (RF: g = 0.45; VL: g = 0.28) compared to nonresponders. For MI, EIH responders demonstrated greater increase on Δ RMS (g = 0.61) and decrease on Δ MDF (g = 0.68) in RF but similar changes in VL (Δ RMS: g = 0.40; Δ MDF: g = 0.39). These results indicate that when exercising to fatigue, no statistically significant difference was observed between BFR RE and conventional MI RE in Δ RMS and Δ MDF. Objective: To observe the effects of key muscle movement points acupuncture on neuroelectrophysiological indexes, lower limb motor function and daily living ability in patients with spinal cord injury(SCI). Methods: 98 SCI patients who were admitted to our hospital from December 2022 to June 2023 were divided into control group(conventional rehabilitation training and traditional acupuncture treatment, n=49) and study group (conventional rehabilitation training and key muscle movement point acupuncture treatment, n=49) according to the random number table method. The nerve electrophysiological indexes [root mean square (RMS) and median frequency (MF) of rectus femoris and anterior tibial muscle], lower limb motor function [lower limb motor score (LEMS), modified Ashworth scale(MAS)] and activity of daily living[activity of daily living score(MBI)] were compared between two groups. Results: Compared with control group 2 courses after treatment, the MAS score in study group was lower, and the rectus femoris RMS, rectus femoris MF, tibialis anterior RMS, tibialis anterior MF, LEMS score and MBI score were higher(P<0.05). Conclusion: Key muscle movement points acupuncture for SCI patients, which can improve neuroelectrophysiological indexes, promote the recovery of lower limb motor function, improve the daily living ability of patients. Background: Monitoring blood oxygenation is essential in immobilised rhinoceros, which are susceptible to opioid-induced hypoxaemia. This study assessed the reliability, clinical performance and trending ability of the Nonin PalmSAT 2500 A pulse oximeter's and the Masimo Radical-7 pulse co-oximeter's dual-wavelength technology, with their probes placed at two measurement sites, the inner surface of the third-eyelid and the scarified ear pinna of immobilised white rhinoceroses. Eight white rhinoceros were immobilised with etorphine-based drug combinations and given butorphanol after 12 min, and oxygen after 40 min, of recumbency. The Nonin and Masimo devices, with dual-wavelength probes attached to the third-eyelid and ear recorded arterial peripheral oxygen-haemoglobin saturation (SpO2) at pre-determined time points, concurrently with measurements of arterial oxygen-haemoglobin saturation (SaO2), from drawn blood samples, by a benchtop AVOXimeter 4000 co-oximeter (reference method). Reliability of the Nonin and Masimo devices was evaluated using the Bland-Altman and the area root mean squares (ARMS) methods. Clinical performance of the devices was evaluated for their ability to accurately detect clinical hypoxemia using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and measures of sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values. Trending ability of the devices was assessed by calculating concordance rates from four-quadrant plots. Results: Only the Nonin device with transflectance probe attached to the third-eyelid provided reliable SpO2 measurements across the 70 to 100% saturation range (bias − 1%, precision 4%, ARMS 4%). Nonin and Masimo devices with transflectance probes attached to the third-eyelid both had high clinical performance at detecting clinical hypoxaemia [area under the ROC curves (AUC): 0.93 and 0.90, respectively]. However, the Nonin and Masimo devices with transmission probes attached to the ear were unreliable and provided only moderate clinical performance. Both Nonin and Masimo devices, at both measurement sites, had concordance rates lower than the recommended threshold of ≥ 90%, indicating poor trending ability. Conclusions: The overall assessment of reliability, clinical performance and trending ability indicate that the Nonin device with transflectance probe attached to the third-eyelid is best suited for monitoring of blood oxygenation in immobilised rhinoceros. Precise Orbit Determination (POD) of Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR)-tracked satellites is stepping towards millimeter-level precision, which requires further refinement of satellite perturbation models and consideration of more detailed perturbation force models that were not previously taken into accounted. Atmospheric drag is one of the main perturbative forces acting on a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite, however, the atmospheric wind speed associated with atmospheric drag has not been considered in International Laser Ranging Service (ILRS) regular data processing. Therefore, in order to analyze the magnitude of atmospheric wind speed influence on POD of SLR satellites, this paper applies HWM14 (Horizontal Wind Model 14) atmospheric wind speed model to perform POD of LARES, Ajisai, Starlette, Stella, Larets satellites and analyses the results. The results show that after applying HWM14 atmospheric wind speed model, the SLR observation residual WRMS (Weighted Root Mean Square) value for LARES, Starlette, Stella, Larets satellites reach 1.04 cm, 2.13 cm, 1.73 cm, 3.36 cm, respectively, which are reduced by 0.10 cm, 0.30 cm, 0.00 cm, 0.05 cm, respectively. However, for Ajisai, one has an almost the same orbit residual WRMS value of 2.88 cm. The 3D (three-dimensional) orbit overlapping arcs error for LARES is 17.53 cm, which is reduced by 1.75 cm; for Starlette it is 19.12 cm, which is reduced by 0.96 cm; for Stella there is almost same orbit overlapping arcs error of 34.9 cm. The accuracy of orbit forecast for 1 day and 3 days for LARES reaches 147.57 cm and 163.96 cm, respectively, which is improved by 0.04 cm and 20.73 cm in the T (Tangential) direction, respectively. The accuracy of orbit forecast for 1 day and 3 days for Stella reaches 191.77 cm and 308.52 cm, respectively, which is improved by 1.95 cm and 6.74 cm in the T direction, respectively. The accuracy of orbit forecast for 1 day and 3 days for Larets reaches 6.18 m and 145.26 m, respectively, which is improved by 7.81 m and 473.61 m in the T direction, respectively. Above results display that considering HWM14 atmospheric wind speed model has a certain improvement for POD of LARES, Starlette, Stella and Larets. Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) network analysis benefits from precise point positioning with undifferenced (UD) or double differenced (DD) integer ambiguity resolution (IAR). Position time series with UD-IAR and a practical DD-IAR are compared for a mixture network consisting of 57 global and 82 regional stations with 4-year observations. The sparse global stations are more affected by different IAR methods than the regional stations of Crustal Movement Observation Network of China (CMONOC). The most significant differences between UD-IAR and the practical DD-IAR are observed in velocity estimations, with averages of 0.15 and 0.30 mm/yr for the horizontal and vertical components, respectively. UD-IAR can achieve smaller root mean square at 70–83 % of the daily solutions than the practical DD-IAR for global stations. Nevertheless, moderate differences of frame parameters and annual variations are introduced by different IAR methods. Tuberculosis, one of the most ancient and formidable infectious diseases, primarily arises from the pathogenic bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (Pck), a potential drug target, is essential for the growth of Mtb that involves in the pathway of gluconeogenesis at the centre of phosphoenolpyruvate-pyruvate-oxaloacetate node. This study aims to understand drug-like properties of the compounds derived from artemisinin, and to investigate their inhibitory roles against Mtb. Molecular docking was performed on a set of 56 artemisinin compounds to identify their binding efficacy to the Mtb protein target. Subsequently, the selected top three complexes were subjected to molecular dynamics simulations. By the trajectory analysis, root mean square deviation and radius of gyration indicated the compactness of the systems without much fluctuation. The principal component analysis revealed that the complexes were less dynamic and energetically more favourable, and Gibbs energy landscape revealed the favourable energetic transitions between conformations. The artemisinin dimer primary alcohol holding good bioavailability scores appears highly stable in complex with Pck (MM/GBSA of −37.67 kcal/mol) that stands as a potential inhibitor of the Mtb target. Previous studies have explored the effect of differing heat and relative humidity (RH) environments on the performance of multiple anaerobic high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Still, its impact on physiological responses and performance following aerobic HIIT has not been well studied. This study examined the effects of differing RH environments on physiological responses and performance in college football players following HIIT. Twelve college football completed HIIT under four different environmental conditions: (1) 25 °C/20% RH (Control group); (2) 35 °C/20% RH (H20 group); (3) 35 °C/40% RH (H40 group); (4) 35 °C/80% RH (H80 group). The heart rate (HR), mean arterial pressure (MAP), lactate, tympanic temperature (TT), skin temperature (TS), thermal sensation (TS), and rating of perceived exertion (RPE) were recorded continuously throughout the exercise. The heart rate variability (HRV): including root mean squared differences of the standard deviation (RMSSD)、standard deviation differences of the standard deviation (SDNN)、high frequency (HF), low frequency (LF), squat jump height (SJH), cycling time to exhaustion (TTE), and sweat rate (SR) were monitored pre-exercise and post-exercise. The HR, MAP, lactate, TT, Ts, TS, and RPE in the 4 groups showed a trend of rapid increase, then decreased gradually. There was no significant difference in HR, MAP, TT, or RPE between the 4 groups at the same time point (p > 0.05), in addition to this, when compared to the C group, the lactate, Ts, TS in the other 3 groups significant differences were observed at the corresponding time points (p < 0.05). The RMSSD, SDNN, HF, and LF levels in the 4 groups before exercise were not significantly different. The RMSSD and HF in the H40 and H80 groups were significantly decreased and other HRV indicators showed no significant difference after exercise. In sports performance measurement, the SJH and TTE were significantly decreased, but there was no significant difference in the 4 groups. The SR was no significant difference in the 4 groups after exercise. In conclusion, heat and humidity environments elicited generally greater physiological effects compared with the normal environment but did not affect sports performance in college football players. Background: Accumulated training shots throughout a session may induce changes in electromyography (EMG) parameters of the primary muscles involved in movement in archery athletes. Thus, the aim of this study was two-fold: (i) analyze the impact of 50 and 100 archery shots on a single session on the EMG parameters of trained archery athletes; and (ii) explore the effects of training routines of the athletes to cope with fatigue induced by the accumulated shots on the EMG parameters. Methods: They were divided into two groups: those who regularly performed ≤100 shots per training session (n = 13) and those who performed >100 shots per session (n = 7). The participants were exposed to a condition involving 100 archery shots, with measurements taken at baseline, after 50, and after 100 shots. EMG was used to measure the electric potential of the deltoid (middle and posterior), trapezius (upper, middle, and lower), and infraspinatus during isometric contraction. The collected outcomes included the mean and maximal amplitude of EMG root mean square (EMGRMS, µV) and the median frequency of the raw surface EMG signal power spectrum (EMGMED, Hz). Results: The results showed significant differences for most of the analyzed muscles analyzed, specifically in the deltoid, infraspinatus, and trapezius (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Our study suggests that in most of the muscles analyzed, EMG parameters—particularly mean and maximal EMGRMS—tend to increase from baseline to 50 shots, with significant declines observed after 100 shots, indicating muscle fatigue. Addressing the nonlinear correlations between input variables and output responses, in addition to the time-consuming nature of finite element analysis in mirror design, this study introduces an enhanced back-propagation (BP) neural network (BR-TLDBO-BPNN) employing Bayesian regularization and an optimized dung beetle algorithm. This novel approach facilitates rapid and efficient parameter estimations, significantly reducing the computational overhead. Utilizing an integrated analysis platform, the study obtained training and test samples, and the BR-TLDBO-BPNN model is used to predict the reflector's mass and root mean square (RMS). The optimization mathematical model is built, and the nonlinear planning function ( f min c o n ) is utilized to solve the problem and find an ideal set of structural parameters. The outcomes demonstrate that the prediction model is accurate enough to predict the mirror characteristics to optimize the mirror structural parameters. Empirical validation demonstrates that the proposed model achieves an over 99% accuracy in predicting mirror characteristics against finite element simulations. As a result, the BR-TLDBO-BPNN algorithm studied in this article not only broadens the application scope of neural networks, but also provides a new practical technique for engineering design. In this study, a spectral analysis method is proposed for a sagged cable with an optimal viscous inertial mass damper (VIMD) under random wind loads based on a generalized state-space formulation. The frequency response functions of the cable responses were evaluated for the wind force vector using complex modes orthogonal to the system matrices, from which the power spectral densities of the cable responses were readily obtained for the spectral matrix of the wind force. The accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method were verified by comparing the root mean square responses with those obtained from the time-domain and covariance analyses. The performance of two VIMDs optimized by the fixed-point method and the maximum damping ratio method was investigated for various cases of cable sag and wind properties. Serviceability failure probability analysis was also conducted using the first-passage problem. The results show that the proposed spectral method is computationally more efficient than the other two analysis methods. This paper investigates the possibility of using self‐centering walls (SCWs) as tuned mass dampers (TMDs) to control the seismic response of structures. The basic characteristics of this system are investigated using a two‐degree‐of‐freedom (2‐DOF) model, representing the main structure as a single‐degree‐of‐freedom (SDOF) oscillator interconnected with an SCW through viscous and elastic devices. The nonlinear equations of motion for the proposed coupled system are derived and then utilized to determine the displacement amplification response. The coupling parameters are optimized to minimize the dynamic response of the oscillator using a numerical method. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the response of the proposed system by considering six recorded earthquakes. Several parameters are studied, including the mass ratio, the influence of prestressing, and the slenderness angle of the wall. The displacement spectra are generated using the optimized parameters and compared to those of the uncoupled system and the traditional coupled system, which features a rigid connection between the structure and the wall. The results reveal that the proposed system effectively suppresses both maximum and root mean square responses of structures, outperforming the traditional coupled system in most cases. Improved performance for the proposed system can be achieved by increasing the wall's mass ratio and decreasing the slenderness angle. Moreover, prestressing has an adverse impact on the system's displacement response. Diffuse solar radiation (DSR) plays a critical role in renewable energy utilization and efficient agricultural production. However, there is a scarcity of high-precision, long-term, and spatially continuous datasets for DSR in the world, and particularly in China. To address this gap, a 41-year (1982–2022) daily diffuse solar radiation dataset (CHDSR) is constructed with a spatial resolution of 10 km, based on a new ensemble model that combines the clear-sky irradiance estimated by the REST2 model and a machine-learning technique using precise cloud information derived from reanalysis data. Validation against ground-based measurements indicates strong performance of the new hybrid model, with a correlation coefficient, root mean square error and mean bias error (MBE) of 0.94, 13.9 W m−2 and −0.49 W m−2, respectively. The CHDSR dataset shows good spatial and temporal continuity over the time horizon from 1982 to 2022, with a multi-year mean value of 74.51 W m−2. Objective: Winter-over expeditioners in Antarctica are challenged by various environmental and psycho-social stress factors, which may induce psychophysiological changes. The autonomic nervous system (ANS) plays a crucial role in the adaptation process under stress. However, the relationship between ANS activity and the mood states of expeditioners remains largely unexplored. This study aims to uncover the pattern of ANS adjustment under extreme Antarctic environments and provide new insights into the correlations between ANS activity and mood state changes, which may provide scientific data for medical interventions. Methods: Fourteen expeditioners at Zhongshan Station participated in this study. The study was conducted during four representative periods: pre-Antarctica, Antarctica-1 (pre-winter), Antarctica-2 (winter), and Antarctica-3 (summer). The heart rate variability (HRV) of the expeditioners was continuously measured for 24 hours to evaluate ANS activity. Plasma levels of catecholamines were tested by ELISA. Mood states were assessed by the Profile of Mood States (POMS) scale. Results: HRV analysis showed a disturbance of ANS during winter and summer periods. For frequency domain parameters, very low frequency (VLF), low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF), and total power (TP) significantly increased during the second half of the mission. Especially, LF/HF ratio decreased during summer, indicating the predominance of vagal tone. Results of the time domain analysis showed increased heart rate variability during the austral winter and summer. Plasma epinephrine (E) significantly increased during residence in Antarctica. Compared with pre-Antarctica, the vigor, depression, and anger scores of the expeditioners decreased significantly during the austral summer. Notably, the depression score showed a moderate positive correlation with LF/HF, while weak negative correlations with other HRV indicators, including TP, VLF, and LF. Anger score showed a moderate positive correlation with LF/HF and weak negative correlations with the average normal-to-normal (NN) interval, and the root mean square of differences between adjacent RR intervals (RMSSD). Plasma E level weakly correlated with the average NN interval. Conclusion: Prolonged residence in Antarctica increased the ANS activities and shifted the cardiac autonomic modulation towards vagal predominance. Introduction: Various balance exercises have been employed to enhance functional stability and balance in individuals who have undergone anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction; however, no study has explored the use of dual-task balance exercises for these patients. This study compares the effects of dual motor task balance exercises and single-task exercises on the static balance indices of individuals with ACL reconstruction. Materials and Methods: In a single-blind randomized controlled trial, 27 subjects who had undergone ACL reconstruction were randomly divided into two groups: Dual-task and singletask balance exercises. Both groups performed their exercises three days a week for one month. Static balance indicators were assessed at the beginning and end of the treatment. Results: The results demonstrated that after the treatment, there was a statistically significant decrease in various center of pressure variables, including mean displacement in the anteriorposterior and medial-lateral directions, total path length, mean velocity of displacement, root mean square of displacement, and velocity. Furthermore, the knee injury and osteoarthritis outcome score significantly increased in both groups (P<0.05). However, when comparing the two groups, no significant difference was observed after the treatment (P>0.05). Conclusion: Dual-task and single-task motor exercises improve static stability and knee function levels in patients who have undergone ACL reconstruction. This study aims to explore the relationship between 4-Hydroxycinnamic Acid, a compound found in broccoli fruit (Brassica oleracea var. italica), and Estrogen Receptor Beta Protein through in silico analysis. The research was conducted using Pymol, MOE 2015, Discovery Studio 2016, and Lepinski Rule software. These tools were employed to model the structure of both the compound and protein, as well as to evaluate their interaction. The results revealed a significant interaction with a Binding Affinity of -6.4182. Moreover, the Root Mean Square Deviation (RMSD) measurements yielded a value of 3.8907, indicating the degree of agreement between the compound and protein structures. Analysis using the Lepinski Rule disclosed the characteristics of the compound 4-Hydroxycinnamic Acid, including a mass of 164, two hydrogen bond donors, three hydrogen bond acceptors, a log P value of 1.490, and a molar reactivity of 44.776. Introduction: In cases of inflammation, there is typically a connection between IL6R and HIL6. If there is an excessive level of activity in this connection, it can lead to a cytokine storm. Tocilizumab (TCZ), also known as AntiIL-6R, is a biologic drug that is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody. It is specifically used to treat inflammatory and autoimmune diseases that are associated with cytokine storms. Method: This study utilizes in silico analysis to assess the ability of TCZ, a biosimilar, to block IL6R and compares it to the blocking effect of HIL6. Validation of the 3D structure of the IL6R was performed using a Ramachandran plot. Results: The IL6R alpha subunit had a validation score of 97.86%, while the IL6R beta subunit had a validation value of 95.54%. The molecular docking analysis reveals that the TCZ light chain forms a complex with IL6R, yielding a docking score of -16.4 kcal mol-1. Similarly, the TCZ heavy chain also interacts with IL6R, resulting in a docking value of -15.5 kcal mol-1. Notably, both scores are higher than the docking score of the control, which involves IL6R with HIL6, measuring -12.5 kcal mol-1. The root mean square fluctuation (RMSF) value of the IL6R protein in the presence of TCZ (Tocilizumab) is consistently below 2, with an average range of 0.04-0.09. The shelf‐margin deltas are the primary 'sources' of interest in siliceous submarine fan source‐to‐sink systems. However, less has yet to be discovered about the roles and effects of the shallow water platform situated on continental slopes. Using the Miocene sediments of the Ledong‐Lingshui Sag in the western part of the Qiongdongnan Basin (QDNB), this paper studies the YC35 coarse‐grained submarine fan that developed in the Meishan Formation (Fm.). The material sources, depositional characteristics, and developmental mechanisms of this fan were investigated. The restored palaeogeomorphology, based on high‐resolution 3D seismic data, shows that a shallow water platform exists. According to geochemical palaeoenvironmental data, the shallow water platform was ideal for forming carbonate deposits in the Meishan Fm., owing to the warm and humid palaeoclimate and the shifting trend in palaeowater depth. Based on the combined source tracing of heavy minerals, coherence slices, and seismic profiles, the shallow water platform and the Ningyuan River source on Hainan Island contributed to the YC35 coarse‐grained submarine fan. Compared to submarine fans formed during different periods, coarse‐grained fan stands out due to its distinct sedimentary structure, rock composition, and microlithological characteristics. Aside from not following the usual Bowmar sequence, there is an excess of gravel and no clear bedding or lamination. A large number of rock fragments, mostly granite and sedimentary rock (carbonatite), make up the rock composition. According to these results, the shallow water platform significantly affects submarine fan material composition. In addition, the attribute slice based on the root mean square reveals that shallow water platforms moderate peripheral deposition. We attribute the development and proximal supply of the shallow water platform to diapirism and forced regression. This paper proposes a novel method to estimate rainfall intensity by analyzing the sound of raindrops. An innovative device for collecting acoustic data was designed, capable of blocking ambient noise in rainy environments. The device was deployed in real rainfall conditions during both the monsoon season and non-monsoon season to record raindrop sounds. The collected raindrop sounds were divided into 1 s, 10 s, and 1 min intervals, and the performance of rainfall intensity estimation for each segment length was compared. First, the rainfall occurrence was determined based on four extracted frequency domain features (average of dB, frequency-weighted average of dB, standard deviation of dB, and highest frequency), followed by a quantitative estimation of the rainfall intensity for the periods in which rainfall occurred. The results indicated that the best estimation performance was achieved when using 10 s segments, corresponding to the following metrics: accuracy: 0.909, false alarm ratio: 0.099, critical success index: 0.753, precision: 0.901, recall: 0.821, and F1 score: 0.859 for rainfall occurrence classification; and root mean square error: 1.675 mm/h, R 2 : 0.798, and mean absolute error: 0.493 mm/h for quantitative rainfall intensity estimation. The proposed small and lightweight device is convenient to install and manage and is remarkably cost-effective compared with traditional rainfall observation equipment. The study investigated the effects of temperature and centrifugation time on the efficacy of removing uncured resin from 3D-printed clear aligners. Using a photo-polymerizable polyurethane resin (Tera Harz TC-85, Graphy Inc., Seoul, Korea), aligners were printed and subjected to cleaning processes using isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or centrifugation (g-force 27.95g) at room temperature (RT, 23 °C) and high temperature (HT, 55 °C) for 2, 4, and 6 min. The control group received no treatment (NT). Cleaning efficiency was assessed through rheological analysis, weight measurement, transparency evaluation, SEM imaging, 3D geometry evaluation, stress relaxation, and cell viability tests. Results showed increased temperature and longer centrifugation times significantly reduced aligner viscosity, weight (P < 0.05), and transmittance. IPA-cleaned aligners exhibited significantly lower transparency and rougher surfaces in SEM images. All groups met ISO biocompatibility standards in cytotoxicity tests. The NT group had higher root mean square (RMS) values, indicating greater deviation from the original design. Stress relaxation tests revealed over 95% recovery in all groups after 60 min. The findings suggest that a 2-min HT centrifugation process effectively removes uncured resin without significantly impacting the aligners' physical and optical properties, making it a clinically viable option. The Haiyang-2D (HY2D) satellite is the fourth ocean dynamics environment monitoring satellite launched by China. The satellite operates on a re-entry frozen orbit, which necessitates orbital maneuvers to maintain its designated path once the satellite's sub-satellite point deviates beyond a certain threshold. However, the execution of orbit maneuvers presents a significant challenge to the field of Precise Orbit Determination (POD). The thesis selects the on-board GPS data of HY2D satellite in December 2023 and five maneuvering days of that year. Employing a multifaceted approach that includes the assessment of observational data quality, orbit overlap, external orbit validation, and SLR (Satellite Laser Ranging) verification, the research delves into precise orbit determination during both maneuver and non-maneuver periods. The results indicate that: (1) The average number of satellites tracked by the receiver is 6.4; (2) During the non-maneuver periods, the average RMS (Root Mean Square) value of the radial difference in the 6-h overlapping arc segment is 0.66 cm, and the three-dimensional position difference is about 1.16 cm; (3) When compared with the precision science orbits (PSO) provided by CNES (Centre National d'Études Spatiales), the average values of the RMS values of the differences in the radial (R), transverse (T), and normal (N) directions during the non-maneuver and maneuver periods are respectively 1.32 cm, 2.31 cm, 1.92 cm and 3.04 cm, 8.78 cm, 2.72 cm. (4) The SLR verification of the orbit revealed a residual RMS of 2.24 cm. Over several decades, high-frequency (HF) radars have been employed for remotely measuring various ocean surface parameters, encompassing surface currents, waves, and winds. Wind direction and speed are usually estimated from both first-order and second-order Bragg-resonant scatter from two or more HF radars monitoring the same area of the ocean surface. This limits the observational domain to the common area where second-order scatter is available from at least two radars. Here, we propose to estimate wind direction and speed from the first-order scatter of a single HF radar, yielding the same spatial coverage as for surface radial currents. Wind direction is estimated using the ratio of the positive and negative first-order Bragg peaks intensity, with a new simple algorithm to remove the left/right directional ambiguity from a single HF radar. Wind speed is estimated from wind direction and de-tided surface radial currents using an artificial neural network which has been trained with in situ wind speed observations. Radar-derived wind estimations are compared with in situ observations in the Lower Saint-Lawrence Estuary (Quebec, Canada). The correlation coefficients between radar-estimated and in situ wind directions range from 0.84 to 0.95 for Wellen Radars (WERAs) and from 0.79 to 0.97 for Coastal Ocean Dynamics Applications Radars (CODARs), while the root mean square differences range from 8° to 12° for WERAs and from 10° to 19° for CODARs. Correlation coefficients between the radar-estimated and the in situ wind speeds range from 0.89 to 0.93 for WERAs and from 0.81 to 0.93 for CODARs, while the root mean square differences range from 1.3 m.s−1 to 2.3 m.s−1 for WERAs and from 1.6 m.s−1 to 3.9 m.s−1 for CODARs. College students are learning a foreign language must know how to translate the spoken or written content from the respective language into English. These approaches do not help the college students to develop the capacity for rational thinking and adequate the motivation for the English translation. The educational principles are not in line with the qualities of the students in the typical English translation classroom teaching, and the teaching methods are out-dated. In the older process of the teaching English translation, many unreliable, vague aspects need to be considered, such as recognizing students' fundamental English knowledge, unique circumstances, language proficiency, cultural differences, and the ambiguity of the source language. The main issue with the current English translation evaluation methodology is that it cannot be easily to deal with thecomplex fuzzy indices when judging the accuracy of the student translations. An algorithm named FCAM-AHP-ANFIS is proposed to provide an effective and accurate method for evaluating and predicting students' English translation outcomes to overcome the traditional shortcomings. According to the proposed approach, students can learn about passive translation, but they may struggle to actively improve their translation skills. College students can benefit from the decision-making aid provided by the extensive evaluation technique due to its high availability and precision. The fundamental benefit of the fuzzy technique over more traditional forms of the assessment is that it accounts for the ambiguity and uncertainty of the making judgments at the human level and provides a coherent framework that includes the indistinct findings of the several steps in evaluating an English translation. The Fuzzy Comprehensive Assessment Model (FCAM) is a decision-making method that uses the fuzzy logic to assess the quality of English translations among the college students. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is employed to calculate each criterion's relative importance and determine the optimal weighting for each criterion utilized in the assessment model. The Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is used to analyze the translated data and generate predictions for the students' translation outcomes. Besides health monitoring, a regular check of dairy heifers' growth rate is desirable, but it is rarely done because procedures that require restraint and handling can be associated with substantial stress for both animals and farmers. Inexperienced heifers, especially if they are highly responsive to humans, may find restraint and handling potentially aversive. This study investigated whether training heifers of different age and responsiveness toward humans (RTH), through operant conditioning, could reduce stress in animals, ease close contact and handling, and be feasible in terms of farmers' effort. We assessed 60 Holstein heifers of 2 age classes (young, n = 29, 291 ± 39 d; old, n = 31, 346 ± 62 d) according to the avoidance distance test and classified them as confident (n = 20), neutral (n = 21), or nonconfident (n = 19). Half of the heifers of each age and RTH class were trained (n = 29), whereas the other half was not (n = 31). The trained heifers were subjected to target training for 8 sessions and positively reinforced with feed to allow being touched on the muzzle, rump, and perineum. If a heifer refused positive reinforcement, the trainer stepped back as negative reinforcement. In the last week of the experiment, the effect of training on the reaction to handling was assessed in all heifers. We measured heart rate, root mean square of successive interbeat interval differences (RMSSD), and fecal cortisol metabolites (FCMet). The presence of behavioral distress signs was recorded as well. The avoidance distance test was performed a second time 24 h after the measuring session. All of the trained heifers, regardless of RTH class, successfully accomplished the target training task in 6 sessions, each spending on average 25.3 s per session. All of the trained heifers allowed touches on the rump and perineum at the end of the fourth session. Training nonconfident heifers required more time compared with the others. Trained heifers showed higher RMSSD than nontrained heifers (14.2 vs. 16.9 ms, respectively), indicating a lower vagal tone, and thus, a slightly lower stress level than nontrained heifers. Training did not lead to differences in HR, FCMet, or presence of stress behavioral signs. Nonconfident heifers had the highest mean baseline FCMet values compared with neutral and confident heifers (38.4 vs. 30.3 vs. 29.1 ng/g, respectively). Nonconfident heifers also showed the lowest value of FCMet 12 h after the measuring session (36.7 vs. 44.6 vs. 49.7 ng/g), likely due to a decreased responsiveness of the adrenal gland to a stressor. The average avoidance distance decreased between the beginning and the end of the experiment, especially for neutral and nonconfident heifers, regardless of whether they were trained or not. These results show how using operant conditioning on some heifers not only decreased their vagal tone, but also reduced the responsiveness to humans of all the animals, trained and not trained; in the latter case, this reduction was through nonassociative learning, such as habituation. The demand for electrical energy is continuously increasing in these days, particularly due to advancements in the industrial sector. This surge in demand has underscored the importance of seeking alternative energy sources, with solar energy emerging as a standout option due to its low investment costs and environmental friendliness. However, the variability in photovoltaic power production, influenced by meteorological data, necessitates accurate prediction methods. To enhance the precision of these predictions, incorporating new parameters alongside existing meteorological data is advantageous. In this regard, this study explores the impact of the particulate matter (PM10) parameter on photovoltaic power prediction using artificial neural network (ANN) model and JAYA-ANN. Comparing the prediction results based on root mean squared and mean absolute percentage errors reveals that the hybrid JAYA-ANN model consistently outperforms the ANN and persistence models. Multivariate regression models, including classical least square, principal component regression, and partial least square, combined with UV-Vis absorbance spectra, have been developed and validated to simultaneously determine furosemide and spironolactone in tablets. The central composite design method is used to design calibration and validation concentration sets for the models. The method was applied in the concentration ranges of 4.4–15.6 mg/L for spironolactone and 2.4–13.6 mg/L for furosemide. The method exhibited good correlation coefficients (R2) with low root mean square error of calibration values of 0.22, 0.16, and 0.17 mg/L for spironolactone and 0.20, 0.17, and 0.18 mg/L for furosemide, respectively. The root mean square error of prediction values for spironolactone and furosemide are less than 10% of the average concentration values, corresponding to 1 mg/L for spironolactone and 0.8 mg/L for furosemide. Precision assessment encompassed repeatability and intermediate precision, while comparison with the HPLC method revealed no statistically significant disparity (α = 0.05). Notably, classical least square, principal component regression, and partial least square methods exhibited successful simultaneous quantification of spironolactone and furosemide within the Spiromide-40 combination tablet. Normal mode analysis is a Laplace‐transform method for calculating the surface‐loading response of laterally homogeneous spherical Earth models with linear viscoelasticity which delivers modal decay times and amplitudes. It can locally fail owing to numerical singularities arising from the viscoelastic parameters, leading to an incomplete accounting of the surface‐loading response. Collocation methods were developed to circumvent this issue. The mixed collocation method includes least‐squares fitting to the Laplace‐transformed Earth response to determine amplitudes assuming the normal mode decay times are known, while the pure collocation method assumes a series of logarithmically regularly spaced inverse decay times for which amplitudes are determined numerically. Both collocation methods may determine amplitudes that are physically unrealistic and all three methods produce crustal motion predictions that differ significantly. The hybrid normal mode‐collocation method presented here applies the normal mode analysis, and then applies the pure collocation to the resulting residuals. This retains the modal structure, while providing an improved fit. Our implementation avoids numerical singularities that may arise from Rayleigh‐Taylor instabilities occurring at large times and can be automated. Vertical crustal motions predicted by the hybrid method for North America with the ICE‐6G_C loading model and the VM5a viscosity structure have a root mean square (RMS) of 4.49 mm/yr and RMS differences with the normal mode, pure, and mixed collocation method of 0.06, 0.23, and 0.25 mm/yr, respectively. Maximum differences reach 0.20, 0.87, and 0.63 mm/yr. The differences increase for a viscosity profile with a greater viscosity increase with depth that exhibits stronger singularity issues. GIA induces crustal motion and gravitational change and is an important element for understanding regional sea‐level change. The goal of this study was to develop a computer modeling method that can be used to accurately calculate the Earth's GIA response, subject to some simplifying assumptions about the nature of Earth structure and its flow properties, while also being more robust than previous methods. To do this, we created a new method (Hybrid Normal Mode‐Collocation) from two previously published methods to minimize the documented issues of these prior methods. Breath-holding spells are a benign condition primarily seen in 3% to 5% of healthy children aged between six months and five years. Although no specific treatment is recommended due to its benign nature, iron and piracetam are used in severe or recurrent cases. We planned to compare the heart rate variability (HRV) before and after treatment with 24-hour Holter monitoring in patients receiving iron and piracetam treatment and investigate the treatment's effectiveness. Twenty-five patients who applied to the outpatient clinic between 2013 and 2015 due to breath-holding spells were included in the study. The patients who received piracetam and iron therapy and underwent 24-hour rhythm Holter monitoring were evaluated retrospectively. Fourteen (56%) of these patients were evaluated as having cyanotic-type and 11 (44%) patients were assessed as having pale-type breath-holding spells. A significant difference was found only between hourly peak heart rate and total power in the group receiving iron treatment. Significant differences were also found among the minimum heart rate, mean heart rate, the standard deviation of RR intervals, the mean square root of the sum of the squares of their difference between adjacent RR intervals, spectpow, and low frequency before and after the treatment in the patients who started piracetam treatment (P < 0.05). Our study is critical as it is the first to investigate the effects of treatment options on various HRV in patients with breath-holding spells. There were statistically significant changes in HRV parameters in patients receiving piracetam, and the number of attacks decreased significantly. Background: Short-term (5 min) heart rate variability (HRV) analysis is widely used in assessing autonomic nervous system activity during exercise. While shortening the HRV measurement duration can help improve its application efficiency, its accuracy needs to be verified. This study investigated the agreement between ultra-short-term (UST) HRV (3 or 4 min) and standard 5 min HRV and explored the optimal recording duration under resting and post-exercise conditions. Methods: Fourteen participants exercised on a cycle ergometer at 60% of their maximum peak power. Data were collected during the rest condition (Pre-E) and three post-exercise conditions (Post-E1, Post-E2, and Post-E3), with indicators of the standard deviation (SDNN) of the ultra-short and short-term RR intervals and the root mean square (RMSSD) of the continuous difference between RR intervals. Repeated measures ANOVA, Cohen's d statistic, Bland–Altman analysis, and interclass correlation coefficients (ICC) assessed the agreement between UST-HRV and ST-HRV. Results: The consistency results of SDNN and RMSSD in resting and post-exercise were different. At the Pre-E, Post-E2, and Post-E3 phases, no statistical differences for SDNN and RMSSD were observed, with ICCs surpassing 0.9, indicating a high level of agreement. However, at Post-E2, there was a significant difference between 3 min RMSSD and 5 min RMSSD (p < 0.05), as well as between 3 min SDNN, 4 min SDNN, and 5 min SDNN (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the limits of agreement were observed to decrease as the time duration increased in Bland–Altman plots. Conclusions: UST-HRV analysis is a reliable substitute for standard 5 min HRV assessment, particularly during resting conditions. Accurate satellite measurements of the thickness of Antarctic sea ice are urgently needed but pose a particular challenge. The Antarctic data presented here were produced using a method to derive the sea ice thickness from 1.4 GHz brightness temperatures previously developed for the Arctic, with only modified auxiliary data. The ability to observe the thickness of thin sea ice using this method is limited to cold conditions, meaning it is only reasonable during the freezing period, typically March to October. The Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) level-3 sea ice thickness product contains estimates of the sea ice thickness and its uncertainty up to a thickness of about 1 m. The sea ice thickness is provided as a daily average on a polar stereographic projection grid with a sample resolution of 12.5 km , while the SMOS brightness temperature data used have a footprint size of about 35–40 km in diameter. Data from SMOS have been available since 2010, and the mission's operation has been extended to continue until at least the end of 2025. Here we compare two versions of the SMOS Antarctic sea ice thickness product which are based on different level-1 input data (v3.2 based on SMOS L1C v620 and v3.3 based on SMOS L1C 724). A validation is performed to generate a first baseline reference for future improvements of the retrieval algorithm and synergies with other sensors. Sea ice thickness measurements to validate the SMOS product are particularly rare in Antarctica, especially during the winter season and for the valid range of thicknesses. From the available validation measurements, we selected datasets from the Weddell Sea that have varying degrees of representativeness: Helicopter-based EM Bird (HEM), Surface and Under-Ice Trawl (SUIT), and stationary Upward-Looking Sonars (ULS). While the helicopter can measure hundreds of kilometres, SUIT's use is limited to distances of a few kilometres and thus only captures a small fraction of an SMOS footprint. Compared to SMOS, the ULS are point measurements and multi-year time series are necessary to enable a statistically representative comparison. Only four of the ULS moorings have a temporal overlap with SMOS in the year 2010. Based on selected averaged HEM flights and monthly ULS climatologies, we find a small mean difference (bias) of less than 10 cm and a root mean square deviation of about 20 cm with a correlation coefficient R > 0.9 for the valid sea ice thickness range between 0 and about 1 m. The SMOS sea ice thickness showed an underestimate of about 40 cm with respect to the less representative SUIT validation data in the marginal ice zone. Compared with sea ice thickness outside the valid range, we find that SMOS strongly underestimates the real values, which underlines the need for combination with other sensors such as altimeters. In summary, the overall validity of the SMOS sea ice thickness for thin sea ice up to a thickness of about 1 m has been demonstrated through validation with multiple datasets. To ensure the quality of the SMOS product, an independent regional sea ice extent index was used for control. We found that the new version, v3.3, is slightly improved in terms of completeness, indicating fewer missing data. However, it is worth noting that the general characteristics of both datasets are very similar, also with the same limitations. The Solar Resource estimate (SolaRes) tool based on the Speed-up Monte Carlo Advanced Radiative Transfer code using GPU (SMART-G) has the ambition to fulfil both research and industrial applications by providing accurate, precise, and high-time-resolution simulations of the solar resource. We investigate the capacity of SolaRes to reproduce the radiation field, relying on 2 years of ground-based measurements by pyrheliometers and pyranometers acquired in northern France (Lille and Palaiseau). Our main objective is to provide, as a first step in clear-sky conditions, a thorough regional validation of SolaRes, allowing us to investigate aerosol impacts on solar resource. We perform comparisons between SolaRes-simulated and clear-sky-measured global horizontal irradiance (GHI), direct normal irradiance (DNI), diffuse horizontal irradiance (DifHI), and global and diffuse irradiance on a tilted plane (GTI, DifTI), and we even consider the circumsolar contributions. Using spectral aerosol optical thickness (AOT) data sets as input, which are delivered by the AErosol RObotic NETwork (AERONET) and the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), we examine the influence of aerosol input data sets in SolaRes on the comparison scores. Two aerosol models are mixed to compute aerosol optical properties. We also perform a sensitivity study on the aerosol parametrisation and investigate the influence of applying more or less strict cloud-screening methods to derive ground-based proof data sets of clear-sky moments. SolaRes is validated with the (relative) root mean square difference (RMSD) in GHI as low as 1 % and a negligible mean bias difference (MBD). The impact of the cloud-screening method in GHI is 0.5 % of RMSD and 0.3 % of MBD. SolaRes also estimates the circumsolar contribution, which improves MBD in DNI and DifHI by 1 % and 4 %, respectively, and RMSD by ∼ 0.5 %. MBD in DNI is around - 1 % and RMSD around 2 %, and MBD in DifHI is 2 % and RMSD around 9 %. RMSD and MBD in both DNI and DifHI are larger than in GHI because they are more sensitive to the aerosol and surface properties. DifTI measured on a vertical plane facing south is simulated by SolaRes with an RMSD of 8 %, comparable to that obtained for DifHI. Our results suggest a strong influence of reflection by not only ground surface but also surrounding buildings. The sensitivity studies on the aerosol parameterisation show that the spectral AOT contains enough information for high performance in DNI simulations, with low influence of the choice of the aerosol models on the RMSD. However, choosing a model with smaller aerosol single scattering albedo significantly decreases SolaRes DifHI and GHI. The best combination in Lille and Palaiseau consists of continental clean mixed with desert dust. Also, complementary information on angular scattering and aerosol absorption provided by the AERONET-inverted model further improves simulated clear-sky GHI by reducing RMSD by ∼ 0.5 % and MBD by ∼ 0.8 %. Eventually, the choice of the data source has a significant influence. Indeed, using CAMS AOT instead of AERONET AOT increases the RMSD in GHI by ∼ 1 % and MBD by ∼ 0.4 % and RMSD in DNI by 5 %. Analytical performance specifications (APS) are usually compared to the intermediate reproducibility uncertainty of measuring a particular measurand using a single in vitro diagnostic medical device (IVD MD). Healthcare systems assembling multiple laboratories that include several IVD MDs and cater to patients suffering from long-term disease conditions mean that samples from a patient are analyzed using a few IVD MDs, sometimes from different manufacturers, but rarely all IVD MDs in the healthcare system. The reproducibility uncertainty for results of a measurand measured within a healthcare system and the components of this measurement uncertainty is useful in strategies to minimize bias and overall measurement uncertainty within the healthcare system. The root mean squares deviation (RMSD) calculated as the sample standard deviation (SD) and relative SD includes both imprecision and bias and is appropriate for expressing such uncertainties. Results from commutable stabilized internal and external control samples, from measuring split natural patient samples or using big-data techniques, are essential in monitoring bias and measurement uncertainties in healthcare systems. Variance component analysis (VCA) can be employed to quantify the relative contributions of the most influential factors causing measurement uncertainty. In this study, a novel superalkali NLi 4 decorated Boron doped graphene/magnesium hydride heterojunction NLi 4 -BGra/MgH 2 was designed using density functional theory (DFT). Molecular dynamics (MD) confirmed that this material can release H 2 adsorbed near NLi 4 and H stored within MgH 2 at a fixed hydrogen-desorption temperature (T d) of 298 K and 570 K, respectively. Subsequently, 132 magnesium alloy hydrides Mg 1-X Me X H 2 with various hydrogen-storage capacities and hydrogen-desorption temperatures were predicted by DFT combined with machine learning (ML). Among them, Mg 0.875 Li 0.125 H 2 (T d = 400K) and Mg 0.875 Be 0.125 H 2 (T d = 500K) were selected to form NLi 4 -BGra/Mg 0.875 Me 0.125 H 2 (Me = Li, Be). The successful validation of Root Mean Square Deviation, diffusion coefficient and hydrogen-desorption trajectories to qualify the hydrogen-desorption capability of NLi 4 -BGra/Mg 0.875 Me 0.125 H 2 (Me = Li, Be) (T d = 400, 500K) confirms that the strategy of using Mg 1-X Me X H 2 to substitute MgH 2 in NLi 4 -BGra/MgH 2 enables the effective modulation of the hydrogen-desorption temperature ranges of NLi 4 -BGra/MgH 2 -based heterojunctions. In particular, partial density of state, electron localization function, and charge density difference were comprehensively analyzed to understand the hydrogen-storage mechanism and the nature of the hydrogen-desorption temperature variation. Settling non-spherical and spherical particles in the annular region is common in many industrial applications. This work shows the intensification of the performance of settling particles in an annular channel by reducing the drag coefficient. The disk/cylinder particles settle in annular channels filled with Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. An aqueous solution of different concentrations of glycerin and Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) was considered as the Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. The experimental results reported in the present work covered the 0.17 ≤ blockage ratio ≤0.55, 0.14 ≤ k (flow consistency index) ≤1.81 (Pa.sn), 0.64 ≤ n (flow behavior index) ≤1, and annular channel Reynolds number 0.40 ≤ Re ≤63.44 and 0.05 ≤ Re ≤43.02 in Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids respectively. The wall factor, f, was increased with the increase in Re and the decrease in blockage ratio. At higher Reynolds numbers (Re), the particle's wall factor was only influenced by the blockage ratio. The wall factor was reduced due to the particle's shape change from cylinder to disk, i.e., decreasing the particle's sphericity. The wall factor of particles is observed to be higher in non-Newtonian than in Newtonian fluids. The critical Reynolds number (Rec) decreased with the H/d (Height/diameter of disk) ratio and sphericity of the studied particles. Both the drag coefficients, in the absence ( C D ∞ ) and presence ( C D ) of the wall effect, declined with the Reynolds number. Suitable correlations were developed for CD with low values of RMSLD (root mean square logarithmic deviation). The experimentally obtained drag coefficient data were also analyzed successfully using the laminar model available in Ansys (Fluent) −18.1. The computed velocity contours analyzed the wall effect and CD variations successfully. The use of the annular channel as a drag reduction device is encouraged due to the observed higher wall factor and decreased drag coefficient for particle settling in comparison to the non-annular channel. Background: Scoliosis is a multifaceted three-dimensional deformity that significantly affects patients' balance function and walking process. While existing research primarily focuses on spatial and temporal parameters of walking and trunk/pelvic kinematics asymmetry, there remains controversy regarding the symmetry and regularity of bilateral lower limb gait. This study aims to investigate the symmetry and regularity of bilateral lower limb gait and examine the balance control strategy of the head during walking in patients with idiopathic scoliosis. Methods: The study involved 17 patients with idiopathic scoliosis of Lenke 1 and Lenke 5 classifications, along with 17 healthy subjects for comparison. Three-dimensional accelerometers were attached to the head and L5 spinous process of each participant, and three-dimensional motion acceleration signals were collected during a 10-meter walking test. Analysis of the collected acceleration signals involved calculating five variables related to the symmetry and regularity of walking: root mean square (RMS) of the acceleration signal, harmonic ratio (HR), step regularity, stride regularity, and gait symmetry. Results: Our analysis reveals that, during the walking process, the three-dimensional motion acceleration signals acquired from the lumbar region of patients diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis exhibit noteworthy disparities in the RMS of the vertical axis (RMS-VT) and the HR of the vertical axis (HR-VT) when compared to the corresponding values in the healthy control (RMS-VT: 1.6 ± 0.41 vs. 3 ± 0.47, P < 0.05; HR-VT: 3 ± 0.72 vs. 3.9 ± 0.71, P < 0.05). Additionally, the motion acceleration signals of the head in three-dimensional space, including the RMS in the anterior-posterior and vertical axis, the HR-VT, and the values of step regularity in both anterior-posterior and vertical axis, as well as the values of stride regularity in all three axes, are all significantly lower than those in the healthy control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The findings of the analysis suggest that the application of three-dimensional accelerometer sensors proves efficacious and convenient for scrutinizing the symmetry and regularity of walking in individuals with idiopathic scoliosis. Distinctive irregularities in gait symmetry and regularity manifest in patients with idiopathic scoliosis, particularly within the antero-posterior and vertical direction. Moreover, the dynamic balance control strategy of the head in three-dimensional space among patients with idiopathic scoliosis exhibits a relatively conservative nature when compared to healthy individuals. Retinal vein cannulation involves puncturing an occluded vessel on the micron scale. Even single millinewton force can cause permanent damage. An ophthalmic robot with a piezo-driven injector is precise enough to perform this delicate procedure, but the uncertain viscoelastic characteristics of the vessel make it difficult to achieve the desired contact force without harming the retina. The paper utilizes a viscoelastic contact model to explain the mechanical characteristics of retinal blood vessels to address this issue. The uncertainty in the viscoelastic properties is considered an internal disturbance of the contact model, and an active disturbance rejection controller is then proposed to precisely control the contact force. The experimental results show that this method can precisely adjust the contact force at the millinewton level even when the viscoelastic parameters vary significantly (up to 403.8%).
