Bar-Lev and Fox (Natl Lang Semant 28:175–223, 2020), B-L&F, redefine the exhaustification operator, Exh, so that it negates innocently excludable (IE) alternatives and asserts innocently includable (II) ones. They similarly redefine the exclusive particle only so that it negates IE-alternatives and presupposes II ones. B-L&F justify their revision of only on the basis of Alxatib's finding (in: Proceedings of NELS 44, 2014) that only presupposes free choice (FC) in cases like Kim was only allowed to eat soup or salad. I show challenges to B-L&F's view of only and argue against extending II to its meaning. Instead I propose that FC is better treated as a "presuppositional implicature" in such cases. The Chinese species of Phorocardius Fleutiaux, 1931 have been studied and six species are described as new: P. alterlineatus Ruan & Douglas, sp. nov.; P. flavistriolatus Ruan & Douglas, sp. nov.; P. minutus Ruan & Douglas, sp. nov.; P. rufiposterus Ruan & Douglas, sp. nov.; P. yunnanensis Ruan & Douglas, sp. nov.; and P. zhiweii Ruan, Douglas & Qiu, sp. nov. Lectotypes are designated for Cardiophorus comptus Candèze, 1860, Cardiophorus contemptus Candèze, 1860, Phorocardius magnus Fleutiaux, 1931, and Cardiophorus manuleatus Candèze, 1888. The holotype is identified for Cardiophorus yanagiharae Miwa, 1927. Phorocardius florentini (Fleutiaux, 1895) and P. manuleatus (Candèze, 1888) are newly reported from China; P. comptus (Candèze, 1860) is excluded from the Chinese fauna. A key to the 11 Phorocardius species known from China is given. Phorocardius is newly recorded from deep within the Palearctic Region. The procoxal cavities of P. rufiposterus Ruan & Douglas, sp. nov. are closed, which is different from all other species of Phorocardius. An annotated checklist of the 21 Phorocardius species of the world is provided. The alpha taxonomy of the endemic whitefish of lakes Brienz and Thun, Switzerland, is revised. We evaluate the status of seven known species: Coregonus steinmanni sp. nov., Coregonus profundus sp. nov. and Coregonus acrinasus sp. nov. are endemic to Lake Thun; Coregonus brienzii sp. nov. is endemic to Lake Brienz; and C. alpinus, C. albellus, and C. fatioi from lakes Brienz and Thun are redescribed. One of these species, C. alpinus, is revised, since the lectotype for this species is incongruent with the species description given by Kottelat (1997) and Kottelat and Freyhof (2007). The name C. alpinus is thus retained for the lectotype designated by Kottelat (1997) and a new description of this taxon provided. For the species otherwise described by Kottelat (1997) and Kottelat and Freyhof (2007) as C. alpinus the new name C. profundus is designated. Coregonus acrinasus is genetically partially of allochthonous origin, closely related to the radiation of Lake Constance, and we therefore compare it to all recognized species of Lake Constance, C. wartmanni, C. macrophthalmus, C. arenicolus, and C. gutturosus. The NOAA Global Monitoring Laboratory serves as the WMO/GAW Central Calibration Laboratory (CCL) for CO2 and is responsible for maintaining the WMO/GAW mole fraction scale used as a reference within the WMO/GAW program. The current WMO-CO2-X2007 scale is embodied by 15 aluminum cylinders containing natural air, with CO2 mole fractions determined using the NOAA manometer from 1995 to 2006. We have made two minor corrections to historical manometric records: fixing an error in the applied second virial coefficient of CO2, and accounting for loss of a small amount of CO2 to materials in the manometer during the measurement process. By incorporating these corrections, extending the measurement records of the original 15 primary standards through 2015, and adding four new primary standards to the suite, we define a new scale, identified as WMO-CO2-X2019. The new scale is 0.18 µmol mol-1 (ppm) greater than the previous scale at 400 ppm CO2. While this difference is small in relative terms (0.045%), it is significant in terms of atmospheric monitoring. All measurements of tertiary-level standards will be reprocessed to WMO-CO2-X2019. The new scale is more internally consistent than WMO-CO2-X2007 owing to revisions in propagation, and should result in an overall improvement in atmospheric data records traceable to the CCL. Russula subsection Amoeninae is morphologically defined by a dry velvety pileus surface, a complete absence of cystidia with heteromorphous contents in all tissues, and spores without amyloid suprahilar spot. Thirty-four species within subsection Amoeninae have been published worldwide. Although most Russula species in South Korea have been assigned European or North American names, recent molecular studies have shown that Russula species from different continents are not conspecific. Therefore, the present study aims to: 1) define which species of Russula subsection Amoeninae occur on each continent using molecular phylogenetic analyses; 2) revise the taxonomy of Korean Amoeninae. The phylogenetic analyses using the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and multilocus sequences showed that subsection Amoeninae is monophyletic within subgenus Heterophyllidiae section Heterophyllae. A total of 21 Russula subsection Amoeninae species were confirmed from Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and Central America, and species from different continents formed separate clades. Three species were recognized from South Korea and were clearly separated from the European and North American species. These species are R. bella, also reported from Japan, a new species described herein, Russula orientipurpurea, and a new species undescribed due to insufficient material. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The endemic Neotropical genus Gaujonia Dognin is revised. Morphological characters and a phylogenetic analysis demonstrate paraphyletic relationships among the species. Four different groups are interpreted to represent four different genera. The G. arbosi group is the only remaining clade in the genus Gaujonia, and the other groups have been arranged into three new genera: Millerana gen. nov., Oculicattus gen. nov., and Cicadoforma gen. nov. Additionally, two other genera Cicadomorphus gen. nov., and Gaujoptera gen. nov. were found using morphological and molecular analyses based on some specimens that were misidentified as Gaujonia spp. A total of five new genera, three new combinations (Cicadoforma vau-nigrum Hampson, comb. nov., Oculicattus renifera Hampson, comb. nov., and Millerana arbosioides Dognin, comb. nov.) and 21 new species (Cicadoforma ocelotus sp. nov., Cicadomorphus chicharra sp. nov., Cicadomorphus chuya sp. nov., Cicadomorphus falkasiska sp. nov., Cicadomorphus lilianae sp. nov., Gaujonia bichu sp. nov., Gaujonia chiqyaq sp. nov., Gaujonia kanakusika sp. nov., Gaujonia sourakovi sp. nov., Gaujoptera amsa sp. nov., Millerana austini sp. nov., Millerana cajas sp. nov., Millerana cundinamarquensis sp. nov., Millerana matthewsae sp. nov., Millerana tigrina sp. nov., Oculicattus boliviana sp. nov., Oculicattus brehmi sp. nov., Oculicattus inca sp. nov., Oculicattus raizae sp. nov., Oculicattus schmidti sp. nov., and Oculicattus uturunku sp. nov.) are established. The Archipini fauna of the Caribbean is revised to include 33 species. Most previously described species occurring in the region are redescribed and figured, with 13 new species: Argyrotaenia browni sp. nov., A. cryptica sp. nov. (including A. c. cryptica ssp. nov. and A. c. praeteritana ssp. nov.), A. paradisei sp. nov., A. razowskiana sp. nov., Claduncaria rawlinsana sp. nov., Cla. praedictana sp. nov., Cla. taino sp. nov., Clepsis davisi sp. nov., Cle. deroni sp. nov., Cle. jamesstewarti sp. nov., Cle. peroniae sp. nov., Mictocommosis lesleyae sp. nov., and Mictopsichia nyhllinda sp. nov. Three new combinations are proposed: Claduncaria mesosignaria (Razowski, 1999), comb. nov. The concept of Claduncaria is expanded and its diagnosis is modified to more clearly define its generic boundaries. A unique external sexual coupling mechanism in Claduncaria is discussed. Keys to the genera and species of Caribbean Archipini, distribution maps, a regional checklist, and Neighbor-joining and Maximum Likelihood trees based on COI barcode data are provided. Purpose: Our primary aim was to describe the re-intervention and revision rates after primary reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) documented in a local shoulder arthroplasty registry. We also identify the main indication for revision and re-intervention, which may be relevant for patient outcome post-RSA. Methods: Since July 2006, RSAs are consecutively documented in our clinic registry and prospectively controlled with follow-ups. Any intervention after primary RSA requiring a return to the operating room for any shoulder-related indication was termed a re-intervention. Revisions were defined as surgeries involving any exchange, removal, or addition of at least one component. The study endpoints were survival rates at two, five and ten years follow-up for both definitions. Results: Until July 2017, 63 from a total of 1480 primary RSAs required at least one re-intervention and 33 patients had a revision. Open reduction and internal fixation for fractures around the implant (n = 14) were the predominating indications for re-intervention. The re-intervention rate for instability was 0.5%. For re-interventions, survival rates were 97.7, 95.4 and 90.8% at two, five and ten years, respectively, and the respective rates for revisions were 98.7, 97.5 and 95.3%. Conclusion: The revision rate after primary RSA for our patient registry is low. A relevant number of additional interventions were noted that did not require any component revision but may impair the final outcome post-RSA. By only reporting revision rates, the number of post-RSA re-interventions is clearly underestimated. Fossils of Balistes are reported for the first time from Miocene deposits in Cuba including the description of a new taxon, † Balistes vegai sp. nov., and the first record of † B. crassidens on the island. At the same time several taxonomic and nomenclatural issues regarding other fossil specimens are assessed, including the reassignment of some incorrect records of Balistes and the recognition of † B. dubius as valid name. A table of dental characters and character states is provided to facilitate future identification of fossil species of Balistes. The fossil record of triggerfish indicate that crown Balistes evolved at least during the Oligocene, and that by the Miocene was occupying in the Atlantic, similar niches to those exploited by modern taxa. The majority of species of the Arcoidea identified from the British Lower Jurassic are taxa within the Grammatodontinae. Although this study has further partitioned the Grammatodontinae fossils into the genera Grammatodon, Cosmetodon and Catella based on distinct defining characters, it is clear that differentiation at a species level becomes problematic as adults exhibit characters that grade between two distinct end states. Additionally, there is variability in characters between the juvenile and adult shells within species and the two valves of individuals. These factors have led to an over-splitting of British Lower Jurassic arcoid species, with implications in the study of marine environmental change and extinction events. After revision of the taxonomy of Lower Jurassic Arcoidea, it is clear that there was a gradual change in arcoid form through this epoch, moving from sulcate Cosmetodon to sulcate-free Grammatodon s.s. Arcoid species that survived the Toarcian extinction event in the UK were non-sulcate. This study concurs with previous research suggesting the Parallelodontidae, via the Grammatodontinae, led to the Cucullaeidae. Indeed, hinge dentition and ligament area gradational end states of some British Late Jurassic Grammatodon appear very Cucullaea-like. Dynamic environmental conditions through the Early Jurassic appear to have helped drive this evolutionary change. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Paracanthon Balthasar 1938 includes four nominal species of dung beetles occurring in the Atlantic Forest of northeastern, southeastern and southern Brazil, and Misiones, Argentina. Here we describe twelve new species of Paracanthon : P. arnaudi sp. n. , P. belloi sp. n. , P felipei sp. n. , P genieri sp. n. , P. grossiorum sp. n. , P. laevinotus sp. n. , P. lopesandradei sp. n. , P. marinezae sp. n. , P. millerorum sp. n. , P.monteiroorum sp. n. , P. muriloi sp. n. , P. ocellatopunctatus sp. n. We propose P. pereirai d'Andretta & Martínez 1957 as a new junior subjective synonym of P. rosinae Balthasar 1942. In addition, we present new data on the morphology of the hindwings and male genitalia, and an identification key to the species of the genus. Paracanthon is restricted to the Atlantic domain, and we briefly discuss the possible processes that might have led to the diversification of the putative lineages recognized here. The systematics and taxonomy of the Neotropical genus Micronycteris are not yet resolved; previous studies evidenced paraphyletic relationships, a number of potential undescribed species, and inadequate diagnostic characters. This revision focuses on the pale‐bellied members of the genus using phylogenetic and morphometric tools, an increased sample size with all recognized taxa, and an expanded geographic coverage relative to prior studies. For the genetic analyses (n = 166), four molecular markers were concatenated, one mitochondrial (cytb), one nuclear (Fgb‐I7), and two Y‐chromosomal (DBY5 and DBY7). In the Bayesian and maximum likelihood analyses, the recognized subgenera Schizonycteris, Leuconycteris, Xenoctenes, and Micronycteris were recovered as monophyletic. The pale‐bellied subgenera, Schizonycteris and Leuconycteris, were not sister clades; thus, venter coloration was not monophyletic. Leuconycteris was sister to the dark‐bellied Micronycteris, and Schizonycteris was sister to the rest of the genus. Micronycteris schmidtorum was genetically defined for the first time, and it was determined all previous phylogenetic studies used a misidentified M. minuta from Bolivia. Our results showed a sister relationship between M. schmidtorum and M. brosseti, which redefines Leuconycteris. The subgenus Schizonycteris was also redefined, and it presented two well‐supported clades from Central America and western Ecuador that are described as new species. Results are supported by a multivariate morphometric analyses (n = 114), karyological, and morphological comparisons. Introduction: Acetabular component revision surgery can be a challenging task due to the encountered bone defects. Both cemented and uncemented techniques are described. We report on the survivorship of the Thackray cross plate with rim reinforcement ring for cemented acetabular revision. Patients and methods: This is a retrospective case series of all patients treated with the implant with a minimum follow-up of 2 years. Acetabular defects were characterized according to the Paprosky classification. Data on potential risk factors for failure of the construct as well as the Oxford Hip Score (OHS) were collected. Kaplan–Meier survival analysis with radiographic aseptic loosening or revision for aseptic loosening as the end point was performed. Results: From 2000 to 2017, 35 revisions in 18 male and 17 female patients with an average age of 72 years were included. Bone allograft was used in 26 cases and additional implants (medial or supero-lateral mesh) in 13. Seven patients have deceased and the fate of all revisions is known. At an average clinical follow-up of 9.7 (2.6 to 19.6) years, there were no further re-revisions for construct failure. Five hips have demonstrated radiological evidence of aseptic loosening. Radiologically loose components were associated with more severe grades of acetabular bone defects (Paprosky Type 3) (60% vs 3%, p = 0.006). Kaplan–Meier survival analysis demonstrates 79.8% overall survivorship at 7 years. Survivorship for Type 2 defects was significantly higher compared to Type 3 (90% vs 0% at 7 years, Logrank test p = 0.002, Cox proportional hazards p = 0.03). The final median OHS was 38 (12–48) and was not affected by component loosening. Conclusion: This is a cost-effective device that protects the underlying bone graft (81% complete remodeling) and prevents subsidence of the cemented cup (2 mm on average). The species of Gagnepainia K.Schum. and Hemiorchis Kurz are revised throughout their ranges. These genera are shown with evidence from morphological and molecular studies to be distinct, although closely related to each other. Two species of Gagnepainia and three of Hemiorchis are recognised. A key to the genera of Globbeae and keys to the species of Gagnepainia and Hemiorchis are given, all names are typified and descriptions are provided. The Xiamaling Formation of 1.4–1.35 Ga in Jixian Section and adjoining areas represents a unique Ectasian Period (Mesoproterozoic) sedimentary sequence in the North China Craton (NCC). Studies carried out during the last decade have contributed significantly in improving our understanding about the Ectasian sedimentation tectonics in the NCC during this transitional interval between the breakup of Supercontinent Columbia and the assembly of Rodinia. The present study reports, for the first time, tuffite beds interlayered with carbonaceous-siliceous slate-phyllite in the upper Baishugou Formation (western Henan Province), at the southern margin of NCC. The LA-MC-ICPMS U-Pb geochronology of zircons from two tuffite samples has yielded almost identical ages of 1330±10 Ma (MSWD=0.43, N=38) and 1332±10 Ma (MSWD=0.90, N=24), that constrain a 1.33 Ga depositional age (Ectasian Period) for the Baishugou Formation. A close similarity in lithological characteristics and their respective superimposed lithostratigraphic relationships of the Baishugou and Xiamaling formations, underline a comparable depositional environment for them. The high-precision geochronology data on the Baishugou Formation would stimulate a relook into the Meso-Neoproterozoic chronostratigraphic framework of the NCC, and further research would lead to a comprehensive understanding of the geological evolution of the NCC during Ectasian Period and its correlation with analogous global events. Although the AGM theory established a paradigm for the theory of belief revision, which is generally regarded as a kind of standard in the field, it is also frequently criticized as inadequate because it neglects justificational structures. Other theories of belief revision are similarly remiss in this regard. So far, little has been done to address this shortcoming. This paper aims to fill this gap. Following a critical analysis of the AGM theory, a justification operator is introduced as a formal means to incorporate justificational structures into a belief revision theory. An AGM style belief revision theory is proposed that is based on such a justification operator. The theory is presented in an axiomatic form. Representation theorems link the axioms with constructive belief change mechanisms. Purpose: Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) is the oldest and most widely performed bariatric surgery worldwide. There is, however, a scarcity of mid- to long-term data of RYGB, especially from the Indian subcontinent. Materials and Methods: The study was a single-center, retrospective analysis from patients who underwent RYGB between January 2009 and November 2014 from a tertiary care center in India. Percent of total weight loss (%TWL) was taken as the primary outcome of the study. Secondary outcomes included type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remission, comorbidity resolution, revisional surgeries, and complications related to RYGB at 1 year, at 3 years, and during the long term, following surgery. Postoperative visits took place at 1 and 3 years, while the long-term outcome was at median 8.3 years (range 5.4–11.2 years), with a follow-up of 92.4% (488/528), 80.5% (424/527) and 69.5% (363/522), respectively. Results: Out of 528 patients studied, 56% were females. The mean body mass index (BMI) was 40.6 ± 6.9 kg/m2. The %TWL in the long-term follow-up was 21.8 ± 11.3%. T2DM remission rates at 1 year, at 3 years, and during the long term were 84.5%, 70.0%, and 60.0%, respectively. Preoperative HBA1c (p = 0.002) and insulin usage (p = 0.016) had a significant predictive effect on T2DM remission. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) improved significantly (p < 0.001). Early (< 30 days) and late (> 30 days) complications were observed in 2.3% and 4.3% of the patients, respectively. Conclusion: Weight loss during mid to long-term follow-up was maintained in the majority of the patients after RYGB. However, a small proportion had significant weight regain in the long term. 412 species-group names (including 11 replacement names), and 14 genus-group names of the Alycaeidae have been introduced to date. Type materials of 85% (336) of the known species and subspecies were examined, a further 5% (19) of the taxa were studied using available non-type material, and for another 6% (22) the original descriptions were sufficiently detailed to evaluate their taxonomic status. Only 3% of the taxa (12) could not be examined. Special attention was paid to the sculpture of the embryonic whorls and the sutural tube-microtunnel system in order to provide a novel classification for this group. In this study 363 taxa (320 species or 43 subspecies) are accepted within the family Alycaeidae. Of these, 22 have been described by the lead author and his coauthors in previous publications. In addition, there are 18 species that were formerly classified in Cycloryx and now belong to Pincerna due to its synonymy with Cycloryx. Among the remaining 323 species, 209 (65%) are transferred here to another genus, whilst 114 (35%) have remained in their original genus. Seven genera are accepted. While some questions (e.g., the distinction between Pincerna and Alycaeus) remained unanswered, this revision made three main achievements: (1) The Dicharax species were identified based on the absence of spiral striation on the entire shell; (2) the Metalycaeus species were identified based on the spiral striation of the protoconch; (3) and Stomacosmethis was separated from Alycaeus based on the extremely short sutural tube. Five nominal species are being synonymised with other species, and eight species are now treated as subspecies. The fossil species of Thaumatodryinus from Dominican amber are studied, and the first revision is presented with a key to the known taxa. We recognize three species, T. miocenicus Olmi, 1995, T. priscus (Olmi, 1998), comb. nov. and T. fuscescens sp. nov. Background: Oxford-III unicompartmental knee replacements (UKRs) are among the most commonly used prostheses to treat isolated medial compartment osteoarthritis (OA). However, the best mode of implant fixation for primary UKRs remains a source of debate. The hypothesis of this study was that the biologically superior fixation of uncemented Oxford-III primary UKRs would translate into a lower revision rate when compared with cemented Oxford-III primary UKRs used to treat isolated medial compartment OA.Methods: Data on all Oxford-III primary UKRs (n = 8,733) completed for isolated medial compartment OA from January 2000 to December 2018 were obtained from the New Zealand Joint Registry (NZJR). Revision rates were documented for each fixation type and analyzed for associations with patient sex and age at surgery. A multivariate Cox proportional-hazards analysis was completed to determine if type of fixation was an independent risk factor for revision of Oxford-III UKRs.Results: Statistical analysis revealed a >1.8-fold greater revision risk for cemented Oxford-III UKRs compared with uncemented Oxford-III UKRs (p = 0.001) when considered independently of other risk factors. Furthermore, compared with uncemented fixation, cemented fixation was associated with a 2.9-fold (p < 0.001) increase in revision risk for women <65 years old and a 1.7-fold (p = 0.008) increase in revision risk for men 55 to 74 years old. There was no significant difference in the risk of revision between fixation methods for women ≥65 years old and men ≥75 years old.Conclusions: We found that the type of fixation was an independent risk factor for revision of Oxford-III UKRs used in the treatment of isolated medial compartment OA. Uncemented Oxford-III primary UKRs had superior implant survivorship in women <65 years old and men 55 to 74 years old. The Environmental Impact Classification for Alien Taxa (EICAT) classifies the impacts caused by alien species in their introduced range in standardised terms across taxa and recipient environments. Impacts are classified into one of five levels of severity, from Minimal Concern to Massive, via one of 12 impact mechanisms. Here, we explain revisions based on an IUCN-wide consultation process to the previously-published EICAT framework and guidelines, to clarify why these changes were necessary. These changes mainly concern: the distinction between the two highest levels of impact severity (Major and Massive impacts), the scenarios of the five levels of severity for the hybridisation and disease transmission mechanisms, the broadening of existing impact mechanisms to capture overlooked mechanisms, the Current (Maximum) Impact, and the way uncertainty of individual impact assessments is evaluated. Morocco has a diverse bee fauna, but one that has also been relatively understudied in recent years. Here a revision of the species-rich genus Andrena is presented that reveals eleven new species for science and substantially improves our understanding of North African Andrena. Andrena (Aciandrena) astrella Warncke, 1975 is synonymised with Andrena (Aciandrena) fulica Warncke, 1974 syn. nov. The unknown female of Andrena (Nobandrena) ounifa Warncke, 1974, and the unknown male of Andrena (Poliandrena) guichardi Warncke, 1980 are described. Andrena (incertae sedis) gafsensis Wood sp. nov. from Tunisia is described due to its similarity to Andrena tenebricorpus. Andrena (Poecilandrena) nigriclypeus Wood sp. nov. from Algeria is also described as it was collected within 10 km of the Moroccan border. A further 18 species are recorded in Morocco for the first time. Image captioning, a challenging task where the machine automatically describes an image with natural language, has drawn significant attention in recent years. Despite the remarkable improvements of recent approaches, however, these methods are built upon a large set of training image-sentence pairs. The expensive labor efforts hence limit the captioning model to describe the wider world. In this paper, we present a novel network structure, Cascaded Revision Network, which aims at relieving the problem by equipping the model with out-of-domain knowledge. CRN first tries its best to describe an image using the existing vocabulary from in-domain knowledge. Due to the lack of out-of-domain knowledge, the caption may be inaccurate or include ambiguous words for the image with unknown (novel) objects. We propose to re-edit the primary captioning sentence by a series of cascaded operations. We introduce a perplexity predictor to find out which words are most likely to be inaccurate given the input image. Thereafter, we utilize external knowledge from a pretrained object detection model and select more accurate words from detection results by the visual matching module. In the last step, we design a semantic matching module to ensure that the novel object is fit in the right position. By this novel cascaded captioning-revising mechanism, CRN can accurately describe images with unseen objects. We validate the proposed method with state-of-the-art performance on the held-out MSCOCO dataset as well as scale to ImageNet, demonstrating the effectiveness of our method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The taxonomic position of Pseudolinosyris is revised. The genus is reduced to Galatella sect. Pseudolinosyris (Novopokr.) Sennikov comb. nova. It differs from the other sections by its shorter corolla lobes and a higher level of stem lignification. Two species are recognised in this section: G. grimmii (Regel & Schmalh.) Sennikov comb. nova, with three subspecies including G. grimmii subsp. microcephala (Novopokr.) Sennikov comb. nova and G. grimmii subsp. sintenisii (Bornm.) Sennikov comb. nova, and the newly added G. corymbulosa (Bornm.) Sennikov comb. nova. A further species is transferred from Crinitaria to Galatella, G. asperella (Rech. f. & Køie) Sennikov, comb. nova to form a monotypic section Galatella sect. Asperifoliae Sennikov, sect. nova. Two recently described endemics of northern Iran are reduced to synonyms: Arenaria assadii to a synonym of Eremogone brachypetala, and A. longibracteata to a synonym of E. macrantha. The zonation of the Furongian Alum Shale in Scandinavia, based on olenid trilobites, is reviewed and revised. The current scheme is rooted in a detailed zonation introduced in the late 1950s with subzones that subsequently have been elevated to zonal rank. Ten of these zones are difficult to recognize in all Alum Shale districts, and a revised zonation is proposed, focused on unambiguous identification throughout Scandinavia. The difficulties in recognizing zones in some districts mostly relate to biofacies differentiation. Representatives of Ctenopyge are, for instance, common in palaeo‐offshore areas, whereas pelturines are rare in these settings and vice versa in palaeo‐inboard settings. The following modifications of the olenid zonation are proposed: the Olenus scanicus Zone is renamed the O. scanicus–O. rotundatus Zone; the Ctenopyge similis and Ctenopyge spectabilis zones are replaced by the Sphaerophthalmus modestus–Sphaerophthalmus angustus Zone; the Ctenopyge tumida Zone is renamed the Peltura acutidens–Ctenopyge tumida Zone; the Peltura scarabaeoides Subzone is restored (as a zone) and replaces the Ctenopyge bisulcata and Ctenopyge linnarssoni zones. The Parabolina heres megalops (Sub)Zone is reinstated and replaces the Peltura paradoxa Zone; the Acerocarina granulata and P. costata zones are combined as the Acerocarina granulata–Peltura costata Zone. In addition, the name Proceratopyge nathorsti–Simulolenus alpha Zone is suggested for the polymerid zone corresponding to the upper Miaolingian Agnostus pisiformis Zone. The proposed changes reduce the number of Furongian Zones to 23, allocated to six superzones. No subzones are recognized, but some zones can potentially be subdivided for improved local correlation. The genus Peronia Fleming, 1822 includes all the onchidiid slugs with dorsal gills. Its taxonomy is revised for the first time based on a large collection of fresh material from the entire Indo-West Pacific, from South Africa to Hawaii. Nine species are supported by mitochondrial (COI and 16S) and nuclear (ITS2 and 28S) sequences as well as comparative anatomy. All types available were examined and the nomenclatural status of each existing name in the genus is addressed. Of 31 Peronia species-group names available, 27 are regarded as invalid (twenty-one synonyms, sixteen of which are new, five nomina dubia, and one homo- nym), and four as valid: Peronia peronii (Cuvier, 1804), Peronia verruculata (Cuvier, 1830), Peronia platei (Hoffmann, 1928), and Peronia madagascariensis (Labbé, 1934a). Five new species names are created: P. griffithsi Dayrat & Goulding, sp. nov., P. okinawensis Dayrat & Goulding, sp. nov., P. setoensis Dayrat & Goulding, sp. nov., P. sydneyensis Dayrat & Goulding, sp. nov., and P. willani Dayrat & Goulding, sp. nov. Peronia species are cryptic externally but can be distinguished using internal characters, with the exception of P. platei and P. setoensis. The anatomy of most species is described in detail here for the first time. All the secondary literature is commented on and historical specimens from museum collections were also examined to better establish species distributions. The genus Peronia includes two species that are widespread across the Indo-West Pacific (P. verruculata and P. peronii) as well as endemic species: P. okinawensis and P. setoensis are endemic to Japan, and P. willani is endemic to Northern Territory, Australia. Platygerris White comprises true bugs that inhabit the surface of water in moderate to fast-flowing freshwater habitats. This genus differs from Cylindrostethus Mayr and Potamobates Champion (Gerridae: Cylindrostethinae) by having a short and flattened body; the mandibular and maxillary plates fused; and the omphalium, lateral groove, and lateral evaporatorium of the scent apparatus inconspicuous. In this paper, we redescribe Platygerris , describe two new species from Colombia, and redescribe P. asymmetricus Hungerford, P. caeruleus Champion and P. depressus White. In addition, we present an updated identification key to the species of the genus. For the first time, the cuticular structure is described for the genus based on electron microscopy. Background: Concerns exist about the survival and complication rates of highly constrained total knee arthroplasty (TKA) prostheses. The aims of this study were to determine if there were differences between the revision and complication rates of fully stabilized (FSTKA) and hinged (HTKA) TKA, when used in both primary and revision procedures. Methods: Survivorship of all highly constrained TKA prostheses implanted over a 17 year period were analysed by the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry. The primary outcome measure was time to first revision using Kaplan Meier estimates of survivorship. Results: In the primary setting, the cumulative percent revision at 11 years was higher for HTKA than for FSTKA prostheses (P = 0.014). However, this finding was only significant for patient >75 years. In the revision setting, there were no differences in the revision rates for either category of prosthesis for any age group. For the indication of periarticular/periprosthetic fracture, HTKA resulted in a lower revision rate than FSTKA in both primary and revision cohorts. There were no differences in the rates of revision for infection and aseptic loosening for either prosthesis type in primary or revision settings. The revision risk for periprosthetic fracture was higher after HTKA prostheses. Conclusion: Both FSTKA and HTKA prostheses provide similar outcomes in primary and revision procedures except for the setting of periarticular/periprosthetic fracture, where a HTKA should be used. Recently there has been much philosophical interest in the analysis of concepts to determine whether they should be removed, revised, or replaced. Enquiry of this kind is referred to as conceptual engineering or conceptual ethics. We will call it revisionary conceptual analysis (RCA). It standardly involves describing the meaning of a concept, evaluating whether it serves its purposes, and prescribing what it should mean. However, this stands in tension with prescriptivism , a metasemantic view which holds that all meaning claims are prescriptions. If prescriptivism is correct, then one is faced with two options: either (1) give up on the possibility of RCA, or (2) come up with a version of RCA that is consistent with the idea that all meaning claims are prescriptive. Few studies provide an analysis of conservative two-stage revision of hip periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) and its impact on final outcome. A conservative revision is defined when soft tissues and bone quality enable the use of primary prosthetic components. Data of patients treated for chronic hip PJI who underwent two-stage revision between 2009 and 2016 and had a minimum of 2 years of follow-up were collected. Oxford Hip Score (OHS), Harris Hip Score (HHS) and radiological and microbiological data were retrieved and analysed. Clinical and functional outcome, survival, mortality, eradication, reinfection and re-revision rates within subgroups of patients with primary components and revision components are reported herein. A total of 148 patients underwent two-stage hip exchange with a mean follow-up of 55.6 ± 23.1 months and a mean age at surgery of 64.3 ± 12.7 years. Forty-four percent of patients underwent conservative revision. The mean HHS significantly improved from 40.6 ± 9.4 points to the final value of 87.8 ± 10.5 points (p =.002), and the mean OHS went from 20.3 ± 3.8 points to 40.3 ± 5. points (p<.001). Patients who were treated with primary components or isolated revision stems in the second stage had a significant reduction in surgical times (p<.001). The mortality rate for all causes of death was 6.8%, the eradication rate was 89.9%, the reinfection rate was 4.7% and the reoperation rate was 7.4% without differences between conservative and non-conservative revisions. Two-stage exchange arthroplasty for total hip arthroplasty (THA) PJI is a good strategy that provides satisfactory results, high eradication rates and no further need for revision. The Long-tailed Rosefinch Carpodacus sibiricus breeds in two widely disjunct areas in East Asia. Five subspecies are usually recognized. The plumage differences between different subspecies groups within C. sibiricus are notable, suggesting it may actually comprise more than one species. However, proper taxonomic assessment has not been carried out, probably in part due to the scarcity and lack of museum specimens of some of these subspecies. In the current study, we re-evaluated the taxonomy of the C. sibiricus complex using molecular, acoustic and morphological data. Using mitochondrial DNA, the samples formed two clades, a northern clade (C. s. sibiricus, C. s. ussuriensis and C. s. sanguinolentus) and a southern clade (C. s. henrici and C. s. lepidus). We also revealed that C. s. ussuriensis and C. s. sanguinolentus are mostly indistinguishable based on mitochondrial markers. This north/south split pattern is congruent with the pattern of plumage differences among north and south taxa. However, no diagnosable differences were found in their songs. We propose synonymizing C. s. ussuriensis with C. s. sanguinolentus. At the species level, we suggest splitting the complex into two species, with Siberian Long-tailed Rosefinch C. sibiricus comprising C. s. sibiricus and C. s. sanguinolentus, and Chinese Long-tailed Rosefinch C. lepidus comprising C. l. henrici and C. l. lepidus. A new formal model of belief dynamics is proposed, in which the epistemic agent has both probabilistic beliefs and full beliefs. The agent has full belief in a proposition if and only if she considers the probability that it is false to be so close to zero that she chooses to disregard that probability. She treats such a proposition as having the probability 1, but, importantly, she is still willing and able to revise that probability assignment if she receives information that gives her sufficient reasons to do so. Such a proposition is (presently) undoubted, but not undoubtable (incorrigible). In the formal model it is assigned a probability 1 − δ, where δ is an infinitesimal number. The proposed model employs probabilistic belief states that contain several underlying probability functions representing alternative probabilistic states of the world. Furthermore, a distinction is made between update and revision, in the same way as in the literature on (dichotomous) belief change. The formal properties of the model are investigated, including properties relevant for learning from experience. The set of propositions whose probabilities are infinitesimally close to 1 forms a (logically closed) belief set. Structure–activity relationship (SAR) and quantitative SAR (QSAR) are modeling methods largely used in assessing biological properties of chemical substances. QSAR is based on the hypothesis that the chemical structure is responsible for the activity; it follows that similar molecules are expected to have similar properties. Similarity plays an important role in read across, which categorizes molecules primarily on the basis of similarity. Similarity, and chemical similarity too, is a property differently perceived by humans. The various proposed metrics often disagree with human judgment, and no a unique metric for chemical similarity is universally adopted. Researchers argued that categorization is not only explained by similarity but depends as well on abstract knowledge and the task to accomplish. Moreover, similarity cannot be the unique explanation of a categorization, as different perceptual processes take place in category formation. Assuming that similarity judgments are deeply rooted in human knowledge and perception, cognitive sciences contributions are as important as the mathematical considerations of the classical theories. After an excursus in the many views of similarity in philosophy, mathematics, and cognitive science, the paper explores how connectionist systems, which loosely mimic the human cognitive system, could improve similarity-based choices. A case study on building (Q)SARs using connectionism and deep neural networks shows the role of similarity in building and explaining those models. Background: This retrospective study aims to compare the outcome of the Latarjet procedure when used as a primary or revision procedure for recurrent anterior gleno-humeral instability. Methods: One hundred and ninety-seven patients underwent 205 open Latarjet procedures during the period 2006–2015 (mean follow-up 5.6 years). Sixty shoulders had failure of a previous stabilisation requiring revision to the Latarjet procedure. Outcomes were measured using the Western Ontario Shoulder Instability Index and Quick Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand score. Survival analyses were performed using Kaplan–Meier curves, and multiple linear regression modelling was utilised to identify predictors of functional outcome (p < 0.05). Results: Two shoulders had recurrent dislocations in the cohort of 205 (1.0%). Six shoulders underwent further surgery for non-instability complications (2.9%). There were no significant differences in the clinical or functional outcome between patients undergoing a primary Latarjet procedure and those who required revision of a failed soft-tissue stabilisation. Ninety-two per cent of patients were satisfied with their shoulder following surgery. Patient-reported instability and satisfaction was significantly associated with poorer functional scores. Discussion: The Latarjet procedure successfully prevents recurrent anterior instability and is associated with high levels of satisfaction. For all the experiences researchers have with the publication process, questions continue to arise about how to best navigate the revise and resubmit gauntlet. This dialog captures insight from six years of Academy of Management professional development workshops, an action editor's perspective on the process, and a qualitative exploration of revision derailers—topics focused on understanding and improving the predictability of the revise and resubmit process. In doing so, this dialog serves as a resource for new and accomplished scholars, reviewers, and editors to refocus the revision process on creating and disseminating knowledge throughout business-related fields. Rational belief-change policies are encoded in the so-called AGM revision functions, defined in the prominent work of Alchourrón, Gärdenfors and Makinson. The present article studies an interesting class of well-behaved AGM revision functions, called herein uniform-revision operators (or UR operators, for short). Each UR operator is uniquely defined by means of a single total preorder over all possible worlds, a fact that in turn entails a significantly lower representational cost, relative to an arbitrary AGM revision function, and an embedded solution to the iterated-revision problem, at no extra representational cost. Herein, we first demonstrate how weaker, more expressive—yet, more representationally expensive—types of uniform revision can be defined. Furthermore, we prove that UR operators, essentially, generalize a significant type of belief change, namely, parametrized-difference revision. The post‐forecast revision drift (PFRD), the phenomenon of delayed stock price reactions to analyst forecast revisions, is a well‐documented market anomaly. Prior research attributes PFRD to underreaction by investors to analyst forecast revisions. This study investigates the role of the analyst forecast revision process itself in the PFRD anomaly. Using a large sample of US firms, we confirm prior findings of a positive serial correlation (momentum) in individual analysts' revisions to their earnings forecasts and, based on both indirect and direct tests, document a positive association between this momentum and PFRD. Further analyses reveal that both the forecast revision momentum and PFRD vary in similar ways with respect to the nature of the news driving the revisions and the information environment. Collectively, our findings show that underreaction by individual analysts in the forecast revision process is an important contributor to the PFRD phenomenon. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The border area between south-eastern Yunnan, China and northern Vietnam is one of the regions with richest biological diversity including that of the fern genus Angiopteris (Marattiaceae). Based on the analysis of morphology and DNA sequences of multiple chloroplast regions (atpB, rbcL, rps4-trnS spacer and trnL-F spacer), we revised Angiopteris tonkinensis (Hayata) J.M.Camus and proposed a new combination Angiopteris tamdaoensis (Hayata) J.Y.Xiang & T.Wang, comb. nov., which was previously regarded as a synonym of A. tonkinensis. We found support for a monophyletic Angiopteris including Protomarattia. This discovery adds two new distribution sites of A. tonkinensis, one in China (Malipo, Yunnan) and one in Vietnam (Quan Ba, Ha Giang). Offline advection schemes allow for low computational cost simulations using existing model output. This study presents the approach and assessment for passive offline tracer advection within the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS). An advantage of running the code within ROMS itself is consistency in the numerics on and offline. We find that the offline tracer model is robust: after about 14 days of simulation (almost 60 advection timescales), the skill score comparing offline output to the online simulation using the TS_U3HADVECTION and TS_C4VADVECTION (3rd-order upstream horizontal advection and 4th-order centered vertical advection) tracer advection schemes is 99.6 % accurate for an offline time step 20 times larger than online, and online output saved with a period below the advection timescale. For tracer advection scheme MPDATA, accuracy is more variable with offline time step and forcing input frequency choices, but is still over 99 % for many reasonable choices. Both schemes are conservative. Important factors for maintaining high offline accuracy are: outputting from the online simulation often enough to resolve the advection timescale, forcing offline using realistic vertical salinity diffusivity values from the online simulation, and using double precision to save results. The Neotropical genus CamarochilusHarris, 1930 (Hemiptera: Pachynomidae) was described based on two species from Panama and Brazil. The genus has not been revised since its original treatment, and specimens beyond the original type series have remained undocumented. Based on examination of 57 specimens, including holotypes or paratypes of the previously described species, we here revise Camarochilus and recognize 10 species, with eight described as new: C. fasciatus, n. sp., C. gilli, n. sp., C. globosus, n. sp., C. harrisi, n. sp., C. medius, n. sp., C. picturatus, n. sp., C. robustus, n. sp., and C. tenuis, n. sp. Habitus images are provided for all species, male and female genitalic structures are documented, and various morphological characters are illustrated using digital photography. Measurements are included for all species. Male genitalic characters including the degree of asymmetry and type of ornamentation of the pygophore and shape of parameres constitute important species-diagnostic features, in addition to coloration and measurements. A comprehensive taxonomic revision of the genus Glochidion J.R. Forst. & G. Forst. from Taiwan in China was carried out based on the examination of herbarium specimens and filed investigations. Eight species and three varieties are recognized, including a new species endemic to Taiwan, G. lanyuense Gang Yao & S.X. Luo, which is described and illustrated. Three names, viz. G. chademenosocarpum Hayata, G. kusukusense Hayata, and G. ovalifolium F.Y. Lu & Y.S. Hsu, are reduced to the new synonyms of G. rubrum Blume, G. lanceolatum Hayata, and G. ellipticum Wight, respectively. Two names, viz. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess survival rate, functional and radiological outcomes when using a hydroxyapatite-ceramic fully coated primary femoral stem in revision total hip arthroplasty. Methods: Patients who underwent revision total hip arthroplasty using the Furlong hydroxyapatite-ceramic (HAC)-coated (Joint Replacement Instrumentation Ltd., Sheffield, UK) primary stem were retrospectively identified between 2013 and 2017. A total of 30 hips in 27 patients were identified and the mean follow-up duration was 44 months. Post-operative radiographs were scrutinized for signs of component loosening by two independent assessors. Patient's functional outcomes were assessed using the Oxford hip score and compared pre- and post-operatively. The prevalence of thigh pain was assessed at the latest follow-up. Results: The most common cause of revision was adverse reactions to metal debris (ARMD) (46.6%). The overall complication rate was 13.3%. Results at final follow-up demonstrated 100% survival rate and no reported incidence of thigh pain. Using paired t test, all patients had a statistically significant (P < 0.05) improvement in post-operative mean Oxford hip score of 35 compared to a mean pre-operative score of 14. Radiographic analysis of the latest follow-up radiographs revealed no signs of component loosening or component subsidence. Conclusion: With a 100% survival rate and excellent reported functional outcomes, we believe that our experience and results support the use of primary cementless stems in selected revision cases. The presence of the opal chimaera, Chimaera opalescens, is reported for the first time in the deep waters of the Azores, with the capture of four specimens by fishermen and the video recording of an additional five individuals. Species identification was supported by the 646 bp sequenced fragment of the mitochondrial gene cytochrome oxidase subunit I. Because C. opalescens is a recently recognised species that had been recurrently misidentified as rabbitfish, Chimaera monstrosa, the historical data of C. monstrosa in the Azores were reviewed to assess the possible presence of both Chimaera species in the region. Although several authors have reported the occurrence of C. monstrosa in the Azorean waters since the 1800s, the majority of these are based on only three specimens caught during the late 1800s. The investigation performed using literature and examination of the museum specimens still available concluded that the most likely scenario is that C. monstrosa is absent from the Azores and past records of that species in the region are most likely misidentifications of C. opalescens. A taxonomic revision of wimple piranhas of the genus Catoprion is performed in combination with a molecular analysis using mtDNA. Molecular phylogenetic analyses of 49 specimens using genetic distances, conventional likelihood and four delimitation methods yielded two distinct lineages of Catoprion, with the morphological analyses of 198 specimens of Catoprion corroborating the molecular results. We provide a redescription of Catoprion mento, from the Paraguay, Orinoco, and tributaries of western Amazon basin, keeping Mylesinus macropterus as a junior synonym of C. mento, and the description of Catoprion absconditus n. sp., from the Amazon and Essequibo basins. C. absconditus n. sp. differs from C. mento by the presence of 86–94 perforated scales in the lateral line (vs. 65–86 scales) and the presence of 35–40 circumpeduncular scales (vs. 29–34 scales). The distribution of C. mento follows the Amazonas‐Paraguay‐Orinoco lowlands, whereas C. absconditus follows the eastern Amazon biogeographic pattern. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Summary: Canarium pilicarpum Daly, Raharim. & Federman is a recently described species of the genus Canarium L. endemic to Madagascar. It occurs mainly in the eastern humid forest and near the northern tip of Madagascar. For more than 60 years this species was part of Canarium madagascariense Engl., before Daly's recent revision of the genus Canarium in Madagascar. The genus Aspidistra has restricted distribution in Southeast Asia, Japan, and China, with more than 160 species. Hayata described three endemic species naturally occurring in Taiwan: Aspidistra attenuata Hayata, A. mushaensis Hayata, and A. daibuensis Hayata, but their descriptions in prologues are incomplete. Based on intensive field surveys, specimen observations, and literature consultations, we reexamine the morphology of these three species and further attempt to determine the diversity of this genus in Taiwan. Aenigmetopia Malloch is the only endemic genus of miltogrammine flesh flies (Diptera : Sarcophagidae) in Australia and, until now it has been known from a single species, A. fergusoni Malloch. This study constitutes the first comprehensive taxonomic revision of Aenigmetopia. Four new species, Aenigmetopia amissa , sp. nov., A. corona , sp. nov., A. kryptos , sp. nov. and A. pagoni , sp. nov., are described through the integration of molecular and morphological data and characters for genus- and species-level diagnoses are given. Aenigmetopia is included in a molecular phylogenetic analysis for the first time and the genus emerges as the sister taxon to Metopia Meigen, in agreement with morphological evidence. Aenigmetopia is the only Australian endemic genus of the flesh fly subfamily Miltogramminae. This genus was previously known from a single species and specimens had been neither collected nor studied since the early 1900s. This study utilises integrative systematics to describe four new species of genus Aenigmetopia and explores its phylogenetic placement among the miltogrammines for the first time, resolving a novel sister-group relationship between this genus and Metopia.
