101. Immature stages of the moth Lobeza dentilinea (Lepidoptera: Notodontidae), with redescription of the species based on male and female morphology

Abstract: Egg and pupa of Lobeza dentilinea Schaus, 1901 are described and illustrated for the first time. Eggs are smooth, dome-shaped, and greenish at oviposition. Last instar larvae have an aposematic coloration and the chaetotaxy is very similar to other notodontines, except for the number of lateral setae: L. dentilinea has three instead of four lateral setae on abdominal segments A3-A6. Pupae are light brown and typical of the family, with the last abdominal segments broadly round. Evidence from the adult morphology supporting the placement of the genus in Notodontinae includes proboscis smaller than the length of the head, epiphysis with more than half the length of tibia, tarsal claws simple, and labial palpi short. Male and female are confidently associated, and a redescription of the species is presented based on both sexes. Larvae of L. dentilinea are here recorded feeding on a Melastomataceae.

Abstract: Background: Mental health is a public health issue for European young people, with great heterogeneity in resource allocation. Representative population-based studies are needed. The Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study 2019 provides internationally comparable information on trends in the health status of populations and changes in the leading causes of disease burden over time. Methods: Prevalence, incidence, Years Lived with Disability (YLDs) and Years of Life Lost (YLLs) from mental disorders (MDs), substance use disorders (SUDs) and self-harm were estimated for young people aged 10-24 years in 31 European countries. Rates per 100,000 population, percentage changes in 1990-2019, 95% Uncertainty Intervals (UIs), and correlations with Sociodemographic Index (SDI), were estimated. Findings: In 2019, rates per 100,000 population were 16,983 (95% UI 12,823 – 21,630) for MDs, 3,891 (3,020 - 4,905) for SUDs, and 89·1 (63·8 - 123·1) for self-harm. In terms of disability, anxiety contributed to 647·3 (432–912·3) YLDs, while in terms of premature death, self-harm contributed to 319·6 (248·9–412·8) YLLs, per 100,000 population. Over the 30 years studied, YLDs increased in eating disorders (14·9%;9·4-20·1) and drug use disorders (16·9%;8·9-26·3), and decreased in idiopathic developmental intellectual disability (–29·1%;23·8-38·5). YLLs decreased in self-harm (–27·9%;38·3-18·7). Variations were found by sex, age-group and country. The burden of SUDs and self-harm was higher in countries with lower SDI, MDs were associated with SUDs. Interpretation: Mental health conditions represent an important burden among young people living in Europe. National policies should strengthen mental health, with a specific focus on young people. 105. A Multi-Objective Demand Response Optimization Model for Scheduling Loads in a Home Energy Management System

Abstract: Demand Response (DR) aims to motivate end consumers to change their energy consumption patterns in response to changes in electricity prices or when the reliability of the electrical power system (EPS) is compromised. Most of the proposals found in the literature only aim at reducing the cost for end consumers. However, this article proposes a home energy management system (HEMS) that aims to schedule the use of each home appliance based on the price of electricity in real-time (RTP) and on the consumer satisfaction/comfort level in order to guarantee the stability and the safety of the EPS. Thus, this paper presents a multi-objective DR optimization model which was formulated as a multi-objective nonlinear programming problem subjected to a set of constraints and was solved using the Non-Dominated Sorted Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II), in order to determine the scheduling of home appliances for the time horizon. The multi-objective DR optimization model not only to minimize the cost of electricity consumption but also to reduce the level of inconvenience for residential consumers. Moreover, a priori, it is expected to obtain a more uniform demand with fewer peaks in the system and, potentially, achieving a more reliable and safer EPS operation. Thus, the energy management controller (EMC) within the HEMS determines an optimized schedule for each home appliance through the multi-objective DR model presented in this article, and ensures a more economic scenario for end consumers. In this paper, a performance evaluation of HEMS in 15 Brazilian families between 1 January and 31 December 2016 is presented with different electric energy consumption patterns in the cities of Belém—PA, Teresina—PI, Cuiabá—MT, Florianópolis—SC and São Paulo—SP, with three families per city, located in the regions north, northeast, central west, south and the southeast of Brazil, respectively. In addition, a total of 425 home appliances were used in the simulations. The results show that the HEMS achieved reductions in the cost of electricity for all the Scenarios used while minimally affecting the satisfaction/comfort of the end consumers as well as taking into account all the restrictions. The largest reduction in the total cost of electricity occurred for the couple without children, resident in the city of Teresina—PI; with a drop from US$ 99.31 to US$ 90.72 totaling 8.65% savings in the electricity bill. Therefore, the results confirm that the proposed HEMS effectively improves the operating efficiency of home appliances and reduces electricity costs for end consumers.

Abstract: The efficient and safe management of air conditioner (AC), Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and water pipelines in large buildings is a major challenge for the safety of these buildings. In recent years, Linear Wireless Sensor Networks (LWSN) are being used extensively for monitoring of long natural gas, water, and oil pipelines. LWSNs can also be used for efficient and safe management of AC, PNG and water pipelines in large buildings. In this paper, a scheme for optimal placement of sensors and base stations in a linear fashion to monitor the various pipelines used in large buildings has been proposed. The proposed scheme utilizes the Lion Optimization Algorithm (LOA) and has been compared with three strategies, namely Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Greedy Approach with respect to throughput, lifetime and end-to-end delay. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme exhibits better performance in comparison to the other three considered techniques for all the three parameters. The most striking feature of the proposed approach is that optimization is more effective when the length of the pipeline is more as far as end-to-end delay is concerned. The lifetime of the network is significantly improved using the proposed approach, especially when the length of the pipeline is of medium size, which makes the proposed scheme suitable for energy efficient buildings.

Foram amostradas aleatoriamente 10.823 fêmeas bovinas com idade igual ou superior a 24 meses procedentes de 1.414 propriedades. Para o diagnóstico sorológico da infecção por Leptospira spp., foi utilizada a Soroaglutinação Microscópica (SAM) utilizando 24 sorovares como antígenos. Um rebanho foi considerado foco quando apresentou pelo menos um animal soropositivo. Das 1.414 propriedades investigadas, 1.076 (77,9%; IC 95% = 75,7-80,0%) apresentaram pelo menos um animal reagente na SAM para qualquer sorovar. O sorovar Hardjo (Hardjoprajitno) foi o mais prevalente, com 34,49% (IC 95% = 31,97-37,14%) das propriedades positivas. Presença de mais de 28 fêmeas bovinas em idade reprodutiva no rebanho (OR=2,11; pRisk factors associated with leptospirosis were identified in cows in the state of Bahia, northeastern Brazil. Abstract: Hb H Disease is caused by the loss or inactivation of three of the four functional a-globin genes. Patients present chronic hemolytic anemia and splenomegaly. In some cases, occasional blood transfusions are required. Deletions are the main cause of this type of thalassemia (α-thalassemia). We describe here an unusual case of Hb H disease caused by the combination of a common αº deletion [-(α)20.5] with a rare point mutation (c.427T > A), thus resulting in an elongated and unstable α-globin variant, Hb Icaria, (X142K), with 31 additional amino-acid residues. Very high levels of Hb H and Hb Bart's were detected in the patient's red blood cells (14.7 and 19.0%, respectively). This is the first description of this infrequent association in the Brazilian population.

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2022-01-01 The objective of this survey was to determine the seroprevalence of Leptospira spp., the most frequent serogroups, and the geospatial distribution in goats in seven states in the Northeast region of Brazil. Samples (n = 4,718) were collected in the states of Alagoas, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe and were analyzed using the microscopic agglutination test (MAT) with a cut-off point of 1:100. Additionally, geographic data were analyzed to construct epidemiological maps for characterization of leptospirosis in the municipalities with greater importance for goat farming in each state. Of the sampled animals, 17.7% were serologically reactive for Leptospira spp. Animal-level prevalence ranged within the states, from 7.07% (Alagoas) to 30.23% (Paraíba) with statistical difference (P < 0.001). For herds, 83.4% had at least one serologically reactive animal. Paraíba had the highest herd-level prevalence (98.36%) and Piauí the lowest (65.91%) (P < 0.001). The states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, and Sergipe had 91.18%, 69.64%, and 92.59% of positive herds, respectively. The most frequently identified serogroups were Autumnalis (23.06%) and Australis (20.98%) and titers ranged from 100 to 1,600. In conclusion, leptospirosis is present in states in the Northeast region of Brazil, especially in environments with dry and deforested areas, demonstrating a possible adaptation of the infectious agent to areas of adverse climates and an apparent interspecies transmission. Also, it was possible to verify the circulation of serogroups that may be adapted to small ruminants maintained in semiarid conditions, causing the asymptomatic disease with reproductive losses. Abstract: The increase of tissue transparency through sequential optical immersion clearing treatments and treatment reversibility have high interest for clinical applications. To evaluate the clearing reversibility in a broad spectral range and the magnitude of the transparency created by a second treatment, the present study consisted on measuring the spectral collimated transmittance of lung tissues during a sequence of two treatments with electronic cigarette (e-cig) fluid, which was intercalated with an immersion in saline. The saline immersion clearly reverted the clearing effect in the lung tissue in the spectral range between 220 and 1000 nm. By a later application of a second treatment with the e-cig fluid, the magnitude of the optical clearing effect was observed to be about the double as the one observed in the first treatment, showing that the molecules of the optical clearing agent might have converted some bound water into mobile water during the first treatment., The present research work was supported by the Portuguese Science Foundation, grant no. 116. Seasonal influence of surface and underground continental runoff over a reef system in a tropical marine protected area

Abstract: 11 pages, 8 figures, 2 tables, Continental runoff is an important source of solutes and nutrients to coastal coral reefs. Nevertheless, they can also act as local stressors due to high coastal urbanization and the associated release of untreated effluents. Here we aimed to qualitatively evaluate the effects of seasonality over reefs from the Costa dos Corais Marine Protected Area (Brazil) and to identify the influence of rivers and submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) on the reefs' environmental status. Surface waters from the reef lagoon, local rivers and shoreline porewaters were sampled monthly during a year and abiotic parameters were determined. The results showed that the reef lagoon is oligotrophic throughout most of the year, with conditions that generally favor biological activities, such as calcification. Chlorophyll-a, with an average of 0.78 ± 0.43 mg m−3, was significantly correlated with salinity and radon in excess. This indicates the influence of rivers and SGD over the reefs, especially during the rainy season. These are important sources of nutrients, regulating primary production. However, signs of anthropogenic pressure were found in the local rivers. In addition, porewaters had a N:P ratio (27.68 ± 24.45) which could potentially impact surface waters through SGD by increasing the local trophic status. Abstract: Resumo Fundamento A ressonância magnética cardíaca (RMC) é o método de escolha para avaliar as dimensões e a função do ventrículo direito (VD), e a insuficiência pulmonar (IP). Objetivos Avaliar a acurácia da ecocardiografia bidimensional (ECO 2D) em estimar a função e as dimensões do VD e o grau de IP, e comparar os resultados obtidos pela ECO 2D com os da RMC. Métodos Comparamos os relatórios de ECO e RMC de pacientes cuja indicação para RMC havia sido para avaliar VD e IP. Um valor de p < 0,05 foi considerado estatisticamente significativo. Resultados Incluímos 51 pacientes com cardiopatia congênita com idade mediana de 9,3 anos (7-13,3 anos). Observou-se uma baixa concordância entre ECO 2D e RMC quanto à classificação da dimensão (Kappa 0,19; IC 95% 0,05 a 0,33, p 0,004) e da função do VD (Kappa 0,16; IC 95% -0,01 a +0,34; p 0,034). O tamanho do VD foi subestimado pela ECO 2D em 43% dos casos, e a função do VD foi superestimada pela ECO 2D em 29% dos casos. O grau de concordância entre os métodos quanto à classificação da IP não foi significativo (Kappa 0,014; IC 95% -0,03 a +0,06; p 0,27). Houve uma tendência de a ECO 2D superestimar o grau da IP. Conclusões A ECO 2D mostrou baixa concordância com a RMC quanto às dimensões e função do VD, e grau de IP. Em geral, a ECO subestimou as dimensões do VD e superestimou a função do VD e o grau de IP quando comparada à RMC.

Abstract: Este artigo apresenta a análise e o projeto de um conversor bidirecional PWM (buck/boost) usado para interface entre o barramento CC e o banco de baterias. Um procedimento de projeto é proposto para o circuito de potência e de controle. Com este procedimento de projeto são definidas as freqüências de operação de cada conversor levando em consideração os níveis de potência e tensão, a fim de reduzir as perdas por comutação sem degradar as especificações impostas ao conversor. Além disto, é proposta a utilização de um filtro para minimizar as ondulações de corrente e tensão nas baterias, aumentando a vida útil das mesmas sem penalizar o volume e/ou a freqüência de operação do conversor. Um protótipo de 580W foi implementado para validar o procedimento de projeto e verificar o desempenho do sistema proposto. Adicionalmente, um conversor boost (pré-regulador) foi incluído ao estágio de entrada para correção do fator de potência.

Abstract: Foi investigada a prevalência da brucelose causada por Brucella canis em cães do município de Santana de Parnaíba, SP, Brasil, e realizado um estudo de possíveis fatores de risco associados à soropositividade para B. canis. Foram examinadas 410 amostras de soro sanguíneo de cães colhidas durante a campanha de vacinação anti-rábica animal, realizada em agosto de 1999. A imunodifusão em gel de ágar (IDGA), utilizando antígeno de lipopolissacarídeos e proteínas de Brucella ovis, amostra Reo 198, foi empregada em soros normais como teste de triagem, e, para a confirmação, a mesma técnica foi aplicada em soros tratados pelo 2-mercaptoetanol (IDGA-ME). A reação de fixação de complemento (CFT), utilizando antígeno de B. ovis, amostra 63/290, também foi utilizada como prova confirmatória. A determinação da prevalência considerou como positivos os animais que reagiram positivamente nos dois testes confirmatórios (IDGA-ME e CFT). A prevalência da B. canis foi de 2,2% (I.C. 95% = 1,01-4,13%). A análise estatística mostrou que os cães com acesso irrestrito à rua o dia todo (manejo do tipo solto) estiveram mais expostos ao risco da infecção por B. canis, com um valor de odds ratio de 8,73 (I.C. 95% = 1,48-51,55) e p=0,04.

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of ovine brucellosis in the states of Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, and Sergipe. A seroepidemiological survey was carried out in 121 properties under 23 municipalities between 2011 and 2012. The 1,034 serological samples collected from the sheep were subjected to the agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) test using kits produced by the Paraná Institute of Technology (TECPAR). Anti-Brucella ovis antibodies were observed in 5.37% (70/1,304) of the animals evaluated, and the difference in the incidence of brucellosis between the adults and young animals of both sexes, and between the males and females was statistically significant (p < 0.05). The prevalence of brucellosis in Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, and was Sergipe 7.66% (36/470), 5.40% (13/241) and 3.54% (21/593), respectively. Of the municipalities visited, 91.30% (21/23) harbored herds with positive serology, and 42.15% (51/121) of the properties had at least one seropositive animal. The lack of training among the workers (p ≤ 0.05) (odds ratio = 3.68; 95% CI = 1.08-12.60; p = 0.038) was identified as a risk factor. The results obtained in this study indicate that the sheep from Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, and Sergipe are infected by B. ovis, thus necessitating the adoption of proper sanitary measures for preventing the spread of the disease in the herds. Abstract: Este artigo apresenta um controlador discreto para o retificador boost três níveis com fator de potência corrigido. Modelos discretos lineares de primeira ordem para ambas as malhas de tensão e corrente são apresentadas. Controladores servos com realimentação de estados são utilizados, sendo projetados utilizando-se um regulador linear quadrático discreto. Além disto, um observador de estados preditivo é utilizado para compensar o tempo de atraso associado à implementação em processadores digitais. É apresentada uma descrição detalhada da lógica de comando que garante a divisão simétrica de tensão do barramento cc. Resultados experimentais de um retificador de 1.5kW são apresentados para validar a análise desenvolvida bem como para demonstrar a boa performance do sistema.

Abstract: A infecção pelos vírus HTLV-I/II encontra-se presente em todas as regiões brasileiras, mas as prevalências variam de um estado para outro, sendo mais elevadas na Bahia, Pernambuco e Pará. As estimativas indicam que o Brasil possui o maior número absoluto de indivíduos infectados no mundo. Testes de triagem de doadores e estudos conduzidos em grupos especiais (populações indígenas, usuários de drogas intravenosas e gestantes) constituem as principais fontes de informação sobre essas viroses em nosso país. O HTLV-I causa a leucemia/linfoma de células T do adulto (LLTA), a paraparesia espástica tropical/mielopatia associada ao HTLV (TSP/HAM), uveíte associada ao HTLV (HAU) e anormalidades dermatológicas e imunológicas. O HTLV-II não se mostrou associado a nenhuma doença até o momento. O diagnóstico é feito com testes de triagem (ELISA, aglutinação) e confirmatórios (Western Blot, PCR). Estes vírus são transmitidos pelo sangue e agulhas contaminadas, através de relações sexuais e de mãe para filho, especialmente através do aleitamento materno. Medidas de prevenção devem focalizar a orientação de doadores soropositivos, mães infectadas e usuários de drogas intravenosas.

Abstract: Sheep farming has shown expressive growth, even in the Northeast region of Brazil, with rainfall below expectations in the last decade. This growth has been observed not only in the number of herds, but also in the number of properties involved in sheep farming. Although expressive, the production of small ruminants still presents low levels of performance, mainly due to the occurrence of diseases, which constitute an obstacle to this activity. The aim of this study was to determine the factors associated with the seroprevalence of leptospirosis in sheep in Northeastern Brazil. Blood samples were collected from 3438 sheep in 190 herds from 48 municipalities, belonging to the states of Ceara, Paraiba, Piaui, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe. Serological diagnosis was performed using the microscopic agglutination test (MAT). In 76.3 % (95 % CI = 69.79-81.81) of the herds there was at least one animal seropositive for at least one of the Leptospira spp. serogroups and 14.94 % (95 %CI = 13.8-16.18) of the animals were seropositive. The state of Paraiba had the highest herd (95.7 %) and animal (26.6 %) prevalences, followed by Ceara (93.9 % and 23.7 %, respectively). The most frequent serogroups were Autumnalis (18.68 %), Australis (17.9 %) and Pyrogenes (15.18 %). There was no association between the studied variables and the herd-level prevalence of leptospirosis. High herd and animal-level seroprevalences was found for sheep leptospirosis in the semiarid region of Northeastern Brazil, and there is a need to implement control and prevention measures, such as quarantine, serology, vaccination and adequate treatment, in addition to the introduction of proven healthy animals, mainly in the states of Paraiba and Ceara, aiming to reduce the prevalence of disease.

Nestes, foram estudadas biópsias de pele de 426 pessoas. Nos nódulos de 86,7% de pacientes, foi encontrada Onchocerca volvulus. A prevalência global encontrada na população examinada foi 66,2%. O tratamento, com ivermectina, teve uma cobertura de 80,1% da população total. Reações adversas ao medicamento foram relatadas em 12,3% dos pacientes, sendo consideradas como leves e moderadas. Abstract: In 2008, we published the first set of guidelines for standardizing research in autophagy. Since then, this topic has received increasing attention, and many scientists have entered the field. Our knowledge base and relevant new technologies have also been expanding. Thus, it is important to formulate on a regular basis updated guidelines for monitoring autophagy in different organisms. Despite numerous reviews, there continues to be confusion regarding acceptable methods to evaluate autophagy, especially in multicellular eukaryotes. Here, we present a set of guidelines for investigators to select and interpret methods to examine autophagy and related processes, and for reviewers to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of reports that are focused on these processes. These guidelines are not meant to be a dogmatic set of rules, because the appropriateness of any assay largely depends on the question being asked and the system being used. Moreover, no individual assay is perfect for every situation, calling for the use of multiple techniques to properly monitor autophagy in each experimental setting. Finally, several core components of the autophagy machinery have been implicated in distinct autophagic processes (canonical and noncanonical autophagy), implying that genetic approaches to block autophagy should rely on targeting two or more autophagy-related genes that ideally participate in distinct steps of the pathway. Along similar lines, because multiple proteins involved in autophagy also regulate other cellular pathways including apoptosis, not all of them can be used as a specific marker for bona fide autophagic responses. Here, we critically discuss current methods of assessing autophagy and the information they can, or cannot, provide. Our ultimate goal is to encourage intellectual and technical innovation in the field.

Abstract: The microenvironments formed by cortical (c) and medullary (m) thymic epithelial cells (TECs) play a non-redundant role in the generation of functionally diverse and self-tolerant T cells. The role of TECs during the first weeks of the murine postnatal life is particularly challenging due to the significant augment in T cell production. Here, we critically review recent studies centered on the timely coordination between the expansion and maturation of TECs during this period and their specialized role in T cell development and selection. We further discuss how aging impacts on the pool of TEC progenitors and maintenance of functionally thymic epithelial microenvironments, and the implications of these chances in the capacity of the thymus to sustain regular thymopoiesis throughout life.

Abstract: The influence of the inter-core crosstalk (ICXT) on the performance of weakly-coupled multi-core fiber (WC-MCF) systems with coherent detection and arbitrary inter-core skew is studied numerically and analytically. We analyze the evolution of the instantaneous ICXT power, induced by polarization division multiplexed quadrature amplitude modulation signals, short term average crosstalk (STAXT), and detected ICXT components along the time to get insight on how the ICXT affects the coherent system performance. Numerical results show that, with low skew-symbol rate product ($\ll$1), the STAXT can have large fluctuations along the time and the variance of the detected ICXT can also have large fluctuations along the time, causing large variations of the bit error rate (BER) along time. With large skew-symbol rate product ($\gg$1), the STAXT is almost constant along the time and, although the detected ICXT varies along time, the detected ICXT variance is almost constant along time leading to very small fluctuations of BER along time. Analytical expressions for the variance of the coherently detected ICXT, average BER and optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) penalty are proposed and shown to agree with Monte-Carlo simulation results for arbitrary skew, modulation format order, and roll-off factor of the transmitted signals. Numerical results show that the maximum allowable ICXT level for 1 dB OSNR penalty increases when the skew augments and can reach 1.3 dB for a roll-off factor of 1. For most cases of interest of low roll-off factor, the increase of the maximum allowable ICXT level is very small. It is shown that the OSNR penalty estimates agree quite well with other authors' experimental results (with nearly zero roll-off factor). info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersion

OROV infection has been associated with neurological complications and OROV genomic RNA has been detected in cerebrospinal fluid from patients, suggesting its neuroinvasive potential. Motivated by these findings, neurotropism and neuropathogenesis of OROV have been investigated in vivo in murine models, which do not fully recapitulate the complexity of the human brain. Here we have used slice cultures from adult human brains to investigate whether OROV is capable of infecting mature human neural cells in a context of preserved neural connections and brain cytoarchitecture. Our results demonstrate that human neural cells can be infected ex vivo by OROV and support the production of infectious viral particles. Moreover, OROV infection led to the release of the pro-inflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and diminished cell viability 48 h post-infection, indicating that OROV triggers an inflammatory response and tissue damage. Although OROV-positive neurons were observed, microglia were the most abundant central nervous system (CNS) cell type infected by OROV, suggesting that they play an important role in the response to CNS infection by OROV in the adult human brain. Importantly, we found no OROV-infected astrocytes. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first direct demonstration of OROV infection in human brain cells. Combined with previous data from murine models and case reports of OROV genome detection in cerebrospinal fluid from patients, our data shed light on OROV neuropathogenesis and help raising awareness about acute and possibly chronic consequences of OROV infection in the human brain. Abstract: This paper aims to approach the working conditions of youngsters to promote adiscussion regarding position taking vis-à-vis the production of working alternatives related to currentjuvenile conditions, especially in relation to the fruition of cultural practices in urban peripheries. Thedata gathered for this study comes from the incursion into different socially vulnerable places in PortoAlegre, Brazil, between 2013 and 2016, when narrative interviews were conducted, in which the focuswas the scrutiny of practices produced by the dwellers of the visited neighborhoods. Martuccelli’scontributions are the main references for the analyses conducted regarding the “social trials” of labor andrelated supports. Production of cultural capital among peers is observed, which has also supported theaccomplishment of the occupation of social spaces related to the “school shape”. Therefore, programsof education integralization, initially experienced as support, are turned into an action field via agencyemployed by the youngsters. El trabajo se acerca de las condiciones laborales de los jóvenes de hoy, a discutir la tomade posiciones en la producción de alternativas laborales asociadas a la condición juvenil contemporánea,especialmente la fruición de prácticas culturales en contextos de periferia urbana. Los datos consideradoshan resultado de incursiones en diferentes barrios socialmente vulnerables en la ciudad de Porto Alegre,entre 2013 y 2016, cuando se ha hecho entrevistas narrativas y se ha observado las prácticas producidaspor los residentes de los sitios visitados. 148. SOLOS DO BRASIL: GÊNESE, CLASSIFICAÇÃO E LIMITAÇÕES AO USO

Abstract: Devido a sua grande extensao territorial, o Brasil apresenta uma ampla variabilidade ambiental, resultando em uma grande diversidade de solos. Considerando essa ampla variabilidade e a necessidade de organizacao das informacoes sobre solos, o Sistema Brasileiro de Classificacao de Solos (SiBCS) agrupa os solos em nivel de ordem, em 13 classes. As ordens do SiBCS refletem a grande variacao nas caracteristicas geologicas, geomorfologicas, climaticas de fauna e flora no territorio brasileiro. Essa variacao produz uma diversidade de processos pedogeneticos que imprimem propriedades morfologicas, fisicas e quimicas distintas aos solos. Assim, a utilizacao desse sistema de classificacao se mostra eficaz para registrar, comparar, classificar e interpretar as informacoes do solo de forma consistente. A classificacao dos solos permite identificar espacialmente as relacoes solo-paisagem e fornece informacoes sobre as propriedades e o potencial de uso dos solos. No caso do SiBCS, a classificacao permite relacionar os processos de genese a morfologia, organizando o conhecimento sobre os solos e funcionando como uma ferramenta eficaz de transferencia de informacoes.

Abstract: A comparative morphological study of the genus Theages Walker was performed. Five species, T. decorum (Schaus), T. griseatum (Rothschild), T. hoffmanni Travassos, T. pinasi Grados, and T. occultus Grados, were redescribed and the previously unknown female of T. pinasi was described. In addition, the occurrence of odoriferous organs on metatibia of some species was recorded for the first time to the genus. A new combination was proposed for Theages darantasium (Druce), comb. nov. All species were illustrated (habitus and male and female genitalia), and their distribution records were updated and discussed.

Abstract: Aim To assess the influence of artefacts generated by metal posts on the detection of simulated internal root resorption (IRR) in adjacent teeth using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and to verify the impact of metal artefact reduction (MAR) on these cases. Methodology CBCT images of 14 premolar teeth were acquired before and after IRR simulation using chemical and mechanical procedures, in an OP300 Maxio unit, with and without MAR. Each tooth was placed in the socket of a human mandible and scanned under three different conditions: (i) without adjacent teeth - control group; (ii) distal adjacent tooth restored with metal post; and (iii) with both adjacent teeth restored with metal post. Five oral radiologists scored the IRR detection using a 5-point scale. Diagnostic values were obtained for the tested groups and compared using two-way analysis of variance (α = 0.05). Results The presence of a single adjacent tooth restored with metal post did not significantly influence the diagnostic values for IRR detection (P > 0.05). The presence of both adjacent teeth with metal posts, without MAR application, was associated with a significantly lower area under the ROC curve (Az) compared to the control (P = 0.0182). In this case, the application of MAR increased Az, leading to nonsignificant differences from the control group and the group with one adjacent restored tooth (P > 0.05). Sensitivity decreased significantly when two adjacent restored teeth were present, regardless of MAR application (P = 0.0379). Specificity was not affected by the conditions tested (P > 0.05). Conclusion CBCT detection of IRR was impaired by artefacts only when both adjacent teeth restored with metal posts were present. In such cases, activation of MAR improved the performance on this diagnostic task.
