Geographical distribution: Tropical, subtropical and temperate regions (Durden & Musser 1994; Price & Graham 1997). Remarks: The adult male and female of Hoplopleura pacifica were described and partially illustrated by Ewing (1924). Ferris (1932b) considered that Hoplopleura pacifica had no significant morphological differences from Hoplopleura oenomydis and, therefore, synonymised the former species under H. oenomydis. Considering their different hosts, Hopkins (1949) doubted that H. pacifica was a junior synonym of H. oenomydis. Later, based on a morphological and size analysis, Johnson (1964) resurrected H. pacifica as a valid species different from H. oenomydis. Voss (1966) designated, described and illustrated a lectotype for H. pacifica. In Malaysia, H. pacifica was collected in large numbers from several subspecies of Rattus rattus in the states of Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Perak and Sarawak. Remarks: Kim (1977) described the adult male, the female and a second instar nymph of Atopohthirus emersoni. Remarks: The adult male and female of Hoplopleura erismata were described by Ferris (1921), with illustrations of plates and male genitalia only. Besides the type host, other hosts of H. erismata include Callosciurus caniceps (Gray, 1842), Callosciurus erythraeus (Pallas, 1779), Callosciurus inornatus (Gray, 1867) and Callosciurus pygerythrus (Saint Hilaire, 1832), all in the family Sciuridae (Durden & Musser 1994). Johnson (1964) noted that the record published by Ferris (1921) of H. erismata from the Asian striped squirrel (Tamiops sp.) was most likely a mechanical contamination between hosts, after the specimen arrived in the museum. However, Zuo et al. Haematopinus asini (Linnaeus, 1758) This louse species infests horses (Equus caballus), plain zebras (Equus burchellii) and donkeys (Equus asinus) (Webb 1948; Durden & Musser 1994; Attia 2018; Attia et al. 2018; Gharbi et al. 2020; Sazmand et al. 2020). Due to the global geographical distribution of these equine hosts, especially horses, H. asini was considered as a cosmopolitan species (Durden & Musser 1994). None of these mammals are native to Malaysia, but they have been introduced in this country as farm or recreational animals (Bashir 1993; Abdullah and Mammalian Research Group 2013). Haemodipsus ventricosus (Denny, 1842) This louse species mainly infests European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus), and is usually reported with a worldwide distribution (Durden & Musser 1994). Although European rabbits are not native in Malaysia (PERHILITAN 2010, 2017), they have been introduced in this country as laboratory animals and exotic pets. Hoplopleura captiosa Johnson, 1960 Durden & Musser (1994) noted that Hoplopleura captiosa was probably a cosmopolitan species, possibly on the basis that this louse species had been recorded from the Nearctic, Palearctic and Oriental Regions (Johnson 1960; Arzamasov & Trukhan 1966; Kim 1966; Smetana & Daniel 1970; Beaucournu 1972; Rao et al. 1973; Sosnina & Davydov 1973; Kim & Emerson 1974; Gaaboub et al. 1981, 1982; Wegner 1991; Krištofík & Dudich 2000; Khosravani 2018; Hamidi & Nassirkhani 2019; Kozina et al. 2022). However, in Southeast Asia, H. captiosa was only reported in Thailand by Johnson (1960) and Kim (1966). Roberts (1950) provided a morphological comparison and a dichotomous key to distinguish H. eurysternus from H. quadripertusus. Meleney & Kim (1974) revised the three morphologically close species that infest cattle: H. eurysternus, Haematopinus quadripertusus Fahrenholz, 1916 and Haematopinus tuberculatus (Ferris 1933). Durden & Musser (1994) stated that the distribution of Haematopinus eurysternus was in temperate zones, although several studies have recorded it in subtropical and tropical regions (Rawat et al. 1992; Lasisi et al. 2010; Rony et al. 2010; Bilkis et al. 2011; Houssain et al. 2016; Al-Mayah & Hatem 2018; Mannan et al. 2019). Ferris (1933) recorded H. eurysternus from a “bull” and “calf” in “Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malay Peninsula” but, considering that he regarded H. quadripertusus as a junior synonym under H. eurysternus, it is not possible to determine which species Ferris (1933) had actually examined. Johnson (1960, 1964) discussed the morphological variation of P. reclinata and provided a list of synonyms. Beaucournu & Houin (1967) discussed and illustrated in detail the diverse morphology of P. reclinata from various hosts. Kim (1971) described and illustrated the three nymphal instars of P. reclinata. This louse is known to infest a wide range of species of the genera Crocidura, Neomys, Scutisorex, Sorex, Suncus and Sylvisorex in the family Soricidae (Kim & Emerson 1974; Durden & Musser 1994). Johnson (1972a) redescribed and illustrated the adults and all the nymphal instars. Johnson (1972a) identified specimens from Bukit Larut (Perak) as H. kitti, which were mistakenly identified as H. diaphora by Johnson (1964). This is still the only record of of H. kitti in Malaysia. Besides the type host and Berylmys bowersi, other hosts of H. kitti are Niviventer fulvescens (Gray, 1847) and Leopoldamys edwardsi (Thomas, 1882) (see Guo et al. 2004a,b; Durden & Musser 1994). A molecular study of Hoplopleura kitti and H. akanezumi Sasa, 1950 by Dong et al. Remarks: The adult male and female of Hoplopleura pectinata were redescribed and illustrated by Ferris (1921). Johnson (1972b) described and illustrated the second and third nymphal instars. The type locality of Hoplopleura pectinata was given as “Malay Peninsula: Biserat, Jalor” by Cummings (1913) and Ferris (1921). Durden & Musser (1994) also stated Biserat, Jalor as being in “Peninsular Malaysia ”, but this is incorrect because Jalor is in Thailand. Johnson (1964) commented that most hosts of H. pectinata were likely natural, but there were also some “scattered specimens from other Rattus species ” due to contaminations. Literature records of sucking lice (Phthiraptera: Anoplura) from Malaysia were checked and reviewed, resulting in a list of 34 established species belonging to 11 genera (Ancistroplax, Atopophthirus, Enderleinellus, Haematopinus, Hamophthirius, Hoplopleura, Linognathus, Neohaematopinus, Pedicinus, Polyplax and Sathrax). Furthermore, three local and six cosmopolitan louse species are regarded as dubious in Malaysia, due to misidentifications or lack of locality records. Also, pathogens known to be associated with the sucking lice are listed. The alarming conservation status of some Malaysian mammalian host species and their sucking lice warrant more research and imminent action to preserve the biodiversity of the country. This paper presents the first complete checklist of anopluran lice from both Peninsular Malaysia and Malaysian Borneo, including localities, literature references and a host-louse list.

Linognathus pedalis (Osborn, 1896) Similar to Linognathus ovillus, Linognathus pedalis typically infests sheep and was regarded as having a cosmopolitan distribution by Durden & Musser (1994). Still, there are no records of this louse species from sheep or any other host from Malaysia (Mustaffa-Babjee 1969; Vivi-Susantie et al. 2020). Currently, information of pathogens transmitted by L. pedalis is scarce (Durden 2019). This statement holds true to this day, as recent studies have not reported E. kumadai from small wild mammals in Malaysia (Mariana et al. 2008; Madinah et al. 2014). Linognathus ovillus (Neumann, 1907) This species is known to mainly infest sheep, and sometimes goats (Durden & Musser 1994). These hosts are distributed worldwide, hence, it was assumed that the distribution of Linognathus ovillus was also cosmopolitan (Durden & Musser 1994). However, L. ovillus has not been reported in Malaysia yet. Remarks: The adult male and female of Sathrax durus were described and illustrated by Johnson (1964). Besides the type host, S. durus has been recorded from northern treeshrews, Tupaia belangeri (Wagner, 1841) in China (Guo et al. 2004a,b; Dong et al. 2009; Zuo et al. 2011). Further, Madinah et al. (2014) listed three nymphs of a Sathrax sp. collected from Rattus exulans in the Malaysian tropical rainforests, but they did not discuss the fact that R. exulans is an unlikely natural host for a louse species from shrews. Considering the current patchy geographical distribution of S. durus, and the large number of known species of Tupaia, more collections are needed to determine the complete host range and distribution of this louse species in the Oriental Region. However, Bruce (1947) and Creighton & Dennis (1947) resurrected H. quadripertusus as a distinct species based on specimens collected from the tails of cattle in Florida. Roberts (1950) provided a morphological comparison and a dichotomous key to distinguish H. quadripertusus from H. eurysternus, and Meleney & Kim (1974) revised the three morphologically close species that infest cattle. The first Malaysian record of H. quadripertusus in Ferris (1933) is uncertain, as at the time H. quadripertusus was still a junior synonym of H. eurysternus (see H. eurysternus for details and locality in Malaysia). Currently, knowledge of H. quadripertusus in Malaysia is poor, and it has not been recorded from Malaysian Borneo. Three species of Lachesilla, in species group rufa, from the Sierra Tarahumara, Chihuahua, Mexico, are here described and illustrated: L. byei n. sp., L. furthi n. sp., and L. raramuri n. sp. Two of them belong in Subgroup IIb of the species group, one showing affinities with L. sommermanae García Aldrete and L. yakima Mockford & García Aldrete, the second one showing affinity with L. salamana García Aldrete. The third species belongs in Subgroup I of the species group, showing affinities with L. aspera García Aldrete and L. chiricahua García Aldrete. The especies here described raise to seven the number of species of Lachesilla in the Sierra Tarahumara.

Four Brazilian species of Loneura are described and assigned to infrageneric groups: L. digitiformis n. sp., L. manauara n. sp., and L. marinonii n. sp, to Loneura group I, and L. duckei n. sp. to Loneura group II. This genus now comprises 45 species, of which 8 (18%) are from Brazil. Of these species, 19 are known only from males, 4 known only from females, 21 are known from both sexes, with one species of unknown sex. The infrageneric classification is based on the number of hypandrium sclerites, either one or three, and is based on the 40 species for which males are known, with 20 species in Group I and 20 species in Group II. An identification key to species from Brazil based on male characters is provided, together with a checklist.

Eight species of Goja are here described and illustrated, seven of them are from Colombia, they present peculiar phallosomes and constitute assemblages of three and four related species each, they are: G. andina n. sp., G. garridoi n. sp., G. meremberg n. sp., G. risaraldensis n. sp., G. tenerife n. sp., G. vallecaucana n. sp. and G. vavilovi n. sp. The other species, G. sierrajuarez n. sp., collected in the Sierra Juárez of Oaxaca, Mexico, is the first species of Goja, in which the male is brachypterous. A key to the identification of the males here treated is included, as well as a cladistic analysis of the species of Goja known to date.

HOLOTYPE CONDITION. — Head, fore and hind wings, phallosome, hypandrium, epiproct, and paraproct mounted on microslide. The remaining body parts are preserved in 70% ethanol. ETYMOLOGY. — The species honors Leonardo de Assis Castro, son of Marcelo Cutrim. GEOGRAPHICAL RECORDS. — Known only from the type locality, Brazil, Santa Catarina state, Nova Teutônia city, on Atlantic Forest in southeastern Brazil. DIAGNOSIS. — Central sclerite of the hypandrium with two curved, postero-lateral processes, distally acuminate, curved outward resulting in a U-shaped posterior concavity; side sclerites short, almost rectangular (Fig. 2G); forewings with a slender, marginal pigmented band from R4+5 to areola postica (Fig. 2B); mesal endophallic sclerite of phallosome transverse, with large, median, pointed process, and long, slender, postero-lateral processes (Fig. 2F). DESCRIPTION Male (holotype) Color. Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline; head pattern (Fig. 2A). Scape and pedicel pale yellow, f1–f3 pale brown. Mx4 brown. Femora pale yellow; tibiae pale yellow with a brown band distally; tarsomeres 1-3 pale yellow. Forewing (Fig. 2B) veins brown, pterostigma brown with a median hyaline area, a brown spot in R 2+3 and R 4+5 at wing margin. Hindwings (Fig. 2C) hyaline. Morphology. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with seven short denticles (Fig. 2A). Right forewing (Fig. 2B) pterostigma narrow proximally, wider in the middle; areola postica wide, tall, apically rounded; Rs shorter than its branches, slightly concave, R 2+3 almost straight, R 4+5 with a median concave curve; M stem concave proximally, then almost straight, with six primary branches. Right hindwing (Fig. 2C) Rs almost straight, R 2+3 straight, R 4+5 with a median concave curve; M with four primary branches, M 2 forked. Left forewing (Fig. 2D) differing from the right forewing in having M stem with five primary branches, M 5 forked, resulting in M 5a and M 5b. Left hindwing (Fig. 2E) differing from the right hindwing in having the M stem with four primary branches. Hypandrium (Fig. 2G) of three sclerites, central sclerite with with fields of long macrosetae on each side of the longitudinal midline, that do not reach the apices of the postero-lateral processes. Phallosome (Fig. 2F) side struts slender, V-shaped, anteriorly independent, long, narrow, distal ends almost triangular as an outward directed hook, not fused posteriorly to external parameres, these slender, proximally dilated, elongated, narrowing distally, with a field of pores and an apical end inwardly directed. Four pairs of endophallic sclerites, an anterior small pair with two acuminate projections, the longest directed inward almost touching in the middle and the short, directed outward; a lateral bow-shaped pair curved inward, proximally wide, triangular, distally narrow, with a radular end area; a posterior pair, long, slightly wide proximally, almost straight, slightly curved outward distally and a mesal triangular sclerite, with two wide lateral process distally rounded. Epiproct (Fig. 2H) rhomboid, with three short central setae, two long lateral and a set of posterior ones. Brazil • 1 ♂; Pará, Marabá, Serra Norte; 6°05’03.1”S, 50°10’35.5”W; XI.1982; Michael Miles leg.; Light trap; INPA. HOLOTYPE CONDITION. — Mounted on microslide. The left fore- and hind- wings, legs, antennae, maxillary palps, left lateral sclerite of the hypandrium, side struts of the phallosome and remaining body parts missing. ETYMOLOGY. — The species honors Jacinto Campos Moreira de Castro, born in the state of Pará, father of Marcelo Cutrim, for his support and fellowship. GEOGRAPHICAL RECORDS. — Known only from the type locality, Brazil, Pará state, Marabá city, Serra Norte locality on Brazilian Amazon in northern Brazil. DIAGNOSIS. — Posterior process of the central sclerite of the hypandrium stout, mid-sized, slightly concave distally; posterior side side sclerites of the hypandrium long, curved, anteriorly rounded, posteriorly dilated, curved outward, acuminate (Fig. 1E). Mesal endophallic sclerite of the phallosome transverse, with lateral posterior processes club-shaped, with inner borders denticulate (Fig. 1F). DESCRIPTION Male (holotype) Color. Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline; head pattern (Fig. 1A). Forewings (Fig. 1B) veins brown, pterostigma brown, slender brown marginal band from M 5 to A2. Hindwings (Fig. 1C) almost hyaline, with a pale brown spot at CuP. Morphology. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with six short denticles (Fig. 1D). Forewing pterostigma long (Fig. 1B), narrow proximally, wider in the middle; areola postica wide, tall, apically rounded; Rs longer than its branches, almost straight, R 2+3 almost straight with a slight distal concave curve, R 4+5 with a median convex curve; M stem concave proximally, then almost straight, with five primary branches, M 5 distally forked, resulting in M 5a and M 5b. Hindwings (Fig. 1C) Rs almost straight, R 2+3 straight, R 4+5 with a slight concavity distally; M stem concave proximally with four primary branches. Hypandrium (Fig. 1E) of five sclerites, central sclerite broad, with anterior margin concave, with field of long macrosetae on each side of the longitudinal midline, that reach or surpass the apex of the median posterior process; posterior side processes long curved outward with a triangular posterior projection; lateral sclerite irregular. Phallosome (Fig. 1F) relatively simple, external parameres proximally slender, curved inward, wider distally, with rounded apices, bearing a field of pores and a row of little teeth at the posterior margin. Three pairs of endophallic sclerites, an anterior pair long, curved inward, with rounded end; a mesal with anterior and posterior margin almost straight, laterally curved, and strong narrowing, from where it arises a posterior process, these almost straight, distally dilated; a postero-lateral pair, short, curved outward, proximally, and distally rounded, with a row of strong teeth along inner margin. Belaphotroctes grimaldii sp. nov. (Figs 2–4) Holotype. ♀, NIGP200508 (Fig. 2), deposited in the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing, China. Etymology. The specific epithet honors David A. Grimaldi, world’s authority on insects, amber, evolution, and all things palaeoentomological, as well as a cherished friend. Diagnosis. The new species belongs to that group of Belaphotroctes lacking vesicles or pulvulli on the pretarsi. It can be further distinguished by the combination of a line of setae on R in the forewing, the presence of a second abscissa of R orthogonal to the longitudinal stem, the absence of Cu and A in the forewing, and the faint trace of C running along the anterior with margin and anterior to the short trace of Sc near the wing base (Fig. 4). Locality and horizon. Zhangpu, Fujian, China, middle Miocene Fotan Group (14.7 Ma). Description. ♀: Total body length 1.14 mm; integument finely imbricate to coriaceous; light brown except slightly darker on head and thoracic nota. Head slightly wider than long, length 0.33 mm, width across compound eyes 0.37 mm, interocular distance 0.24 mm; compound eye well-developed, diameter 0.11 mm, with numerous ommatidia (over 30); ocelli arranged in tight triangle on slight swelling; epicranial cleavage scar absent; surface of head with sparse, minute, fine setae; antenna with scape and pedicel thicker than flagellomeres; flagellum with 12 flagellomeres; flagellomeres without annulations, each flagellomere with 2–4 long apical setae, scape longer than flagellomere I, length 0.07 mm; pedicel short, 0.5× length of flagellomere I, flagellomeres I–X lengths each 0.05 mm, flagellomere XI length 0.07 mm, flagellomere XII length 0.08 mm. Maxillary palpus with four palpomeres; palpomere lengths (P 1, P 2, P 3, P 4) 0.05, 0.04, 0.02, 0.12 mm, respectively; apical palpomere (P 4) distinctly enlarged relative to preceding palpomeres (Fig. 3A, B), width nearly 2× width of P 3, without stout conical sensilla but with some minute, fine sensilla apically and longer setae laterally, such setae not longer than palpomere breadth. Labial palpus with two short palpomeres, apicalmost palpomere densely covered with fine minute setae. Pronotum divided into three distinct lobes; medial lobe with distinct mediolongitudinal sulcus; lateral lobes narrower than medial lobe, lateral lobe with pronounced, proclined seta (Fig. 3A) [much of finer details of pronotum obscured by fracture: Fig. 2]. Thoracic sterna broad, flat; mesosternum without sclerotized bands. Coxae broadly separated by sterna; femora slightly swollen except metafemur greatly swollen; tibiae slender, tibial spur formula apparently 1-1-1; all tarsi trimerous; pretarsal claw apparently simple, pulvillus lacking (pretarsal vesicle absent). Profemur without prominent setae ventrally, with scattered minute, fine setae; protibia with numerous fine, suberect setae along length; mesofemur length 0.23 mm, mesotibia length 0.21 mm, setation as on profemur and protibia; metafemur length 0.31 mm, lacking tubercle, setation as on profemur; metatibia length 0.27 mm, maximum width 0.024 mm, with setation as on protibia except intermixed with fine, elongate, erect setae dorsally. Wings hyaline, diaphanous, membrane finely and irregularly wrinkled (Fig. 2), broadly rounded apically (Figs 2, 4), with veins indicated as light brown, nebulous traces (Fig. 2); forewing long, extending beyond abdominal apex, length 1.31 mm, maximum width 0.43 mm; hind wing length 0.89 mm, maximum width 0.23 mm. Forewing (Fig. 4) with trace of Sc scarcely evident in basal quarter of wing length; R extending nearly to wing midlength, with distinct setae along length, R1 evident diverging orthogonal to stem of R, with a single seta at juncture with faint trace of C, then extending apically for short distance before merging into anterior wing margin (Fig. 4); Rs originating just prior to wing midlength, extending nearly to wing apex, weakly curved apically; M present and largely straight, extending nearly to wing apex; traces of Cu and A absent. Hind wing (Fig. 4) with only trace R; R nearly extending to wing apex, slightly curved, paralleling curve in anterior wing margin. A new fossil liposcelidid barklouse is described and figured in mid-Miocene amber from southeastern China. Belaphotroctes grimaldii sp. nov. is documented from an individual preserved in Langhian amber from Zhangpu, Fujian, China, and is the first fossil species of the family from the Cenozoic of Asia. The species is distinguished from its congeners and comments are provided regarding the implications of a Belaphotroctes Roesler in the Miocene of China.

Four species of Euplocania from Colombia (Euplocania huitota n. sp., E. kakwa n. sp., E. nukak n. sp. and E. ticuna n. sp.) and four species from Ecuador (E. napensis n. sp., E. shuar n. sp., E. teslai n. sp. and E. waorani n. sp.), in four species groups, are described and illustrated. The new species group ticuna, from Colombia and waorani, from Ecuador are diagnosed. The number of species in Euplocania is raised to 61, in 17 species groups. A key to the males of the known species of Euplocania is presented.

Euplocania waorani n. sp. Male (Figs 43–47) Diagnosis. This species is related to species group bonaverensis of González, García Aldrete, Carrejo & Panche (2018), but differing from it by not having the setae of the forewing veins inserted in brown areolae, by having the lateral processes of the hypandrium large, triangular, with only the apices bent posteriorly, and by the shape of the three pairs of endophallic sclerites, mesal pair C-shaped, positioned in opposite directions, overlapping medially, each basally widened, mesal sclerite process (msp) pointed apically and curved outward (Fig. 46), anterior pair long, slender, sinuous, slightly dilated at the anterior ends, posteriorly reaching the ends of the external parameres; lateral pair dilated anteriorly, slender, curved inward, the apices meeting in the middle. A new species group is proposed for this species, the waorani group (see discussion below). Color (of parts mounted on slide). Legs pale brown, coxae and femora brown. Forewings (Fig. 43), hyaline, veins brown, with brown spots at veins ends, cells cu1 and cu2 with small brown spots. Hindwings (Fig. 44) hyaline, veins brown. Hypandrium brown, darker on postero-lateral borders and antero-median process. Epiproct and paraprocts brown. Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head missing. Forewings: L/W: 2.44. Pterostigma wider in the middle, semi-oval: lp/wp: 1.62, areola postica tall, apex rounded: al/ah: 1.41. M four branched, M 4 forked. Hypandrium (Fig. 47) of a single sclerite, anteriorly projected in the middle, mesal processes of the central area with apices directed posteriorly, median posterior processes short, slender, separated by a deep incision, apices bent outward, bearing a macroseta. Phallosome (Fig. 46), side struts V-shaped; with three pairs of endophallic sclerites (see diagnosis), posterior endophallic sclerites absent. Paraprocts (Fig. 45) ovoid, with setae and macrosetae as illustrated, two spatulate; sensory fields with 20 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct (Fig. 45) semioval, posteriorly convex, with three mesal setae next to the anterior border, a pair of lateral macrosetae and numerous microsetae on posterior border. Euplocania teslai n. sp. Male (Figs 31–36) Diagnosis. Belonging in species group cerata. By the shape of the hypandrium, it is related to E. shuar n. sp. and E. nukak n. sp. It differs from the first one by having posterior endophallic sclerites; it differs from the latter in having the anterior endophallic sclerites very slender. Color (of parts mounted on slide). Head (Fig. 33) pale brown, with brown pattern on frontal area and genae; compounds eyes black; ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents; genae dark brown with clear transverse band, clypeus dark brown; maxillary palps pale brown, Mx1 paler than the other palpomeres. Forewings (Fig. 31) hyaline, veins brown, with brown spots at veins ends, cells cu1 and cu2 with brown areas; pterostigma with proximal and distal brown bands. Hindwings (Fig. 32) hyaline, veins brown. Hypandrium brown, anteriorly and laterally darker. Epiproct and paraprocts pale brown. Morphology. Head: H/MxW: 3.49; compound eyes medium-sized, H/D: 3.0; IO/MxW: 0.2. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with six denticles. Forewings: L/W: 2.37. Pterostigma oval: lp/wp: 1.48, areola postica tall, oval, apically rounded: al/ah: 1.48. Hypandrium (Fig. 36), median area broad, setose as illustrated, with a broad concavity posteriorly, posterior processes broad, distally rounded, each bearing a large macroseta apically. Phallosome (Fig. 35), side struts V-shaped, external parameres distally wide, bearing pores; three pairs of endophallic sclerites, anterior pair slender, curved and converging on the longitudinal midline, externally connected to the lateral sclerites, broadly L-shaped; mesal sclerites pointed, widening posteriorly, with an elongate, distally acuminate process on outer corner; posterior sclerites slender, transverse, pointed at both ends. Paraprocts (Fig. 34) ovoid, with a field of setae posteriorly, with several macrosetae as illustrated, two spatulate; sensory fields with 21 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Euplocania shuar n. sp. Male (Figs 25–30) Diagnosis. Belonging in species group cerata (García Aldrete, González & Carrejo (2013). The forewings and the shape of the hypandrium relate it to E. teslai n. sp., and E. nukak n. sp., differing from them by the shape of the endophallic sclerites, specifically the mesal sclerites, with a broad process directed anteriorly, wider distally and side ends of each sclerite bifid and by the hypandrium shape with median sclerite rounded and U-shaped posterior concavity. Head pattern (Fig. 27) pale brown, with dark spots; compounds eyes black, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents; genae with transverse dark band; clypeus with diagonal dark bands converging to the middle; maxillary palps light brown. The specific epithet refers to the Shuar, an ethnic group that inhabits the Ecuadorian and Peruvian Amazonia. They are the most numerous Amazonian indigenous group.

Euplocania huitota n. sp. Male (Figs 1–6) Diagnosis. Belonging in species group bonaverensis, of González, García Aldrete, Carrejo & Panche (2018). By the shape of the hypandrium, it seems closer to E. kakwa n. sp., than to E. napensis n. sp. It differs from the latter by having the postero-mesal projections of the hypandrium slightly curved inward and, by the shape of the anterior endophallic sclerites, each one consisting of two elongate and acuminates sclerites that converge on the mesal sclerite and articulated to the lateral sclerites as in Fig. 5. Head (Fig. 3) brown to ochraceous, with pattern of dark spots, obtuse light band from epistomal sulcus to anterior margin of compound eyes, including antennal sockets. Compounds eyes dark brown, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Clypeus dark brown; labrum pale brown. Genae dark brown. Maxillary palps pale brown. Legs: coxae brown, fore- femora brown proximally, cream distally; mid- and hindfemora brown, cream apically; trochanters cream, tibiae and tarsi light brown. Forewings (Fig. 1) mostly hyaline, veins brown, with brown spots on veins ends; pterostigma with proximal and distal dark bands; cells cu1 and cu2 with dark brown areas. Phallosome (Fig. 5), side struts V-shaped; external parameres wider anteriorly, bearing pores distally; four pairs of endophallic sclerites, anterior sclerites articulated to lateral sclerites, each consisting of two elongate and acuminate sclerites that converge on the mesal sclerite; pair of lateral sclerites elongate, 4 times as long as wide; antero-median sclerites elongate, sinuous, distally attached to a posterior sclerite, distally acuminate and curved inward; pair of mesal sclerites short, with anterior margin convex, almost touching in the mesal line, apically pointed and directed posteriorly. Euplocania napensis n. sp. Male (Figs 13–18) Diagnosis. Belonging in species group bonaverensis (González, García Aldrete, Carrejo & Panche, 2018). It is related to E. huitota n. sp. and E. kakwa n. sp., differing from them by the hypandrium processes: antero-lateral processes narrowing distally, apices directed posteriorly; median posterior projections separated by a deep incision, anteriorly wide, narrowing distally to rounded apices and by presence of posterior endophallic sclerites. Euplocania kakwa n. sp. Male (Figs 7–12) Diagnosis. Belonging in species group bonaverensis, of González, García Aldrete, Carrejo & Panche (2018). Forewing venation, hypandrium and phallosome similar to those of E. nukak n. sp., from which it differs in having the areola postica of the forewing more slender, in having the lateral median processes of the hypandrium shorter, in having the median processes of the hypandrium shorter and stouter and in having the endophallic sclerites larger and overlapping mesally, with basal processes directed outward and posteriorly.
