One of the commonly occurring diseases across the world is heart disease. About 60 percent of the total population gets affected by the heart disease. Among the several kinds of heart disease, coronary heart disease is dealt in this paper. The healthcare trade gathers enormous amounts of healthcare files which, regrettably, are not mined to determine hidden information for efficient assessment creation. Since enormous sum of people get exaggerated by heart disease, the patients' case history raise to a maximum extent in hospitals, as the result analyzing becomes a difficult process for medical practitioners. In this paper, an effective method to extract the data from the large amount of documents is proposed using text mining. Using text mining techniques, the required data are extracted in the structured format. This paper uses an apriori algorithm in association rule mining, which is used for frequent item set extraction and rule generation. Microbulbifer strain CMC-5, isolated from decomposing seaweeds degrades agar, alginate, carrageenan, chitin, carboxymethyl cellulose and xylan. Using bacterial strain CMC-5 as host, a novel virulent phage, designated ϕMC1 was isolated from the coast of Goa, India. Although ϕMC1 demonstrated cross infectivity with type species of Microbulbifer such as M. agarolyticus JAMBA3T and M. celer KCTC 12973T, it did not infect M. mangrovi KCTC 23483T, M. salipalidus JCM 11542T, M. elongatus DSM 6810T and M. hydrolyticus IRE-31T. The one step growth experiment of ϕMC1 infecting bacterial strain CMC-5 at a multiplicity of infection of 0.1, revealed a latent period of 60 min and a burst size of 180. TEM analysis of ϕMC1 indicated it to be a tailless phage with an icosahedral head having a diameter of 60 ± 1.42 nm. The ds DNA of ϕMC1 was restricted by EcoRI, HindIII and SmaI whereas HaeIII, BamHI, PstI, NotI did not cleave the DNA. The molecular size of ϕMC1 DNA was analyzed by restriction digestion as well as pulsed field gel electrophoresis and was estimated at 48.5 kb. The phage infectivity was adversely affected by organic solvents demonstrating the presence of a lipid membrane. The inhibition of ϕMC1 infectivity by EDTA was abolished by addition of Ca and Mg salts.

Lectins are the glycoproteins known to bind specifically to carbohydrates on the cell surface. Microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and viruses produce lectins that in turn provide the microbes with several advantages such as adhesion, infection, and inhibition of other microbes. Microbial lectins are unique in properties, which make them a valuable tool in various fields of biology such as immunology, oncology, and biochemistry. Microbial lectins are also responsible for several important bioprocesses such as bioremediation and bioflocculation. Lectin-mediated aggregation in microorganisms is responsible for bioflocculation of activated sludge as well as bioremediation of heavy metals. This chapter focuses on lectins from different microorganisms and the roles they exhibit, along with the mechanism of action. Different applications of microbial lectins exploited in diverse areas of biology have also been covered, with highlights of some practical approaches and research pertaining to microbial lectins.

COVID-19 since the dawn has changed the way we look at things around us. Medical practice has changed drastically, so is dermatology practice. Clinical and procedural dermatology practice had come to a standstill in India, due to the past COVID-19 situations. With the changing scenario, now it is time for dermatologists as well as dermatology field to sail through these difficult times, with extra care and precautions. According to the latest CDC and ICMR guidelines, we have designed the following proposed guidelines from entrance to exit for the smooth functioning of dermatology institute/hospital/clinic. Potential setbacks related to patient and manpower, their management during COVID-19 pandemic has been reviewed. A 47-year-old female patient presented with painless skin colored and erythematous papules coalesced to form plaques over lower abdomen for 10 days. She had undergone exploratory laparotomy with hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy 1 month ago, and histopathology was reported as Krukenbergs tumor. She was getting evaluated for primary, when she was referred to dermatology. A clinical diagnosis of cutaneous infiltration of tumor was made, and biopsy was done from a representative lesion which showed features suggestive of metastatic poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. In the majority of cases in the past, cutaneous metastasis is seen much later in the course of the disease. High degree of suspicion and histopathology was helpful in the diagnosis of underlying malignancy in our patient.

Complex polysaccharides (CPs) such as agar, alginates, carrageenan, etc., are largely present as component of cell wall of seaweeds, promoting structural integrity and shielding the host from pathogens or predators. Marine bacteria-degrading CPs are ubiquitous and have been isolated from diverse sources such as costal water, sediments, and deep sea, as well as from the surface of seaweeds and crustaceans. Polysaccharide-degrading enzymes (carbohydrases) such as agarase, alginate lyase, and carrageenase are produced by CP-degrading bacteria that aid in depolymerizing agar, alginate, and carrageenan, respectively. The resultant oligosaccharides are subsequently degraded to various intermediates that are further channelized to energy conversion pathways. Several of these carbohydrases have been purified, and study of their biochemical properties such as molecular weight, substrate specificity, pH, and temperature range for optimal activity indicates a vast diversity. Recently, several multiple CP-degrading bacteria (epiphytic/free form) have been isolated. Saccharophagus degradans and Microbulbifer species are the dominant groups of multiple polysaccharide-degrading bacteria and play a significant role in recycling of carbon from CPs. In natural marine ecosystem, the cell wall of seaweeds comprises an array of CPs in mixed proportion. The production of diverse carbohydrases by CP-degrading bacteria enables it to decompose seaweeds into single cell detritus as well as generate reducing sugars from degraded polysaccharides. Thus, CP-degrading bacteria are potential candidates for eco-friendly degradation of algal waste.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that starts slowly, progressively leads to death and contributes to about 60-70% cases of dementia. AD is characterized with Senile Plaques (SPs) and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) and the major symptoms include problems with language, dis-orientation of words, unable to manage self-care, memory loss and behavioural issues which gradually lead to completely lose bodily functions later. The actual cause for the disease is not known till date. Recent research show distinct paths that closely try to reveal various cytoplasmic, genetic, behavioural, environmental and epigenetic causes that may lead to the development of AD. Most likely all studies target the Senile Plaques, protein fragments called beta-amyloid and Neurofibrillary Tangles, twisted fibres of a protein called tau. Since, the exact causative mechanism is not yet clearly understood, ultimately finding a suitable treatment or management for the disease has also become an ominous challenge for researchers.Keywords: Alzheimer’s disease, Pathology, Phosphatase and tensin, Senile plaques, Neurofibrillary tangles

The present study examines the mean features of Indian summer monsoon and the boreal summer intra-seasonal oscillations (BSISO) as simulated by the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) regional atmospheric model. For this the WRF model at 30-km horizontal resolution is forced with NCEP-II reanalysis as the initial and boundary condition and integrated for a period of 8 years. The simulated results are compared with TRMM rainfall as well as with the reanalysis datasets of NCEP-II and ERA-Interim. Analysis reveals that the WRF model is able to reproduce the observed characteristics of large scale mean features and spatial variations of rainfall and winds at 850hPa and 200hPa. The northward propagating intra-seasonal oscillation (ISO) components over the monsoon trough and the equatorial Indian Ocean is reasonably simulated by the WRF model and shows some promise in understanding the regional characteristics of Indian summer monsoon and its ISO components. WRF model can act as suitable tool for predicting the ISO's over the Indian summer monsoon region. Further, the results presented here suggests that reanalysis with a realistic basic state and proper representation of northward moving ISO's is required to force a regional model. This study elucidate the WRF regional model has shown a reasonable representation of BSISO.
