Accurate prediction of sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in the tropical North Atlantic on multiyear timescales is of paramount importance due to its notable impact on tropical cyclone activity. Recent advances in high-resolution climate predictions have demonstrated substantial improvements in the skill of multiyear SST prediction. This study reveals a notable enhancement in high-resolution tropical North Atlantic SST prediction that stems from a more realistic representation of the Atlantic Meridional Mode and the associated wind-evaporation-SST feedback. The key to this improvement lies in the enhanced surface wind response to changes in cross-equatorial SST gradients, resulting from Intertropical Convergence Zone bias reduction when atmospheric model resolution is increased, which, in turn, amplifies the positive feedback between latent and sensible surface heat fluxes and SST anomalies. Game-based teaching strategies enrich nursing education by enhancing the appeal and practicality of teaching activities. Different from the high-pressure and serious nature of traditional nursing education, interactive and entertaining teaching strategies that employ board games, card games, escape rooms, virtual reality, scratch cards, Kahoot quiz competitions, and other innovative methods better motivate learners to engage actively with learning content and retain nursing knowledge and practices, resulting in better learning outcomes. Game-based teaching strategies not only strengthen learners' mastery of core nursing concepts but also enhance their decision-making and criticalthinking abilities. In this article, practical applications of game-based teaching are introduced, in hopes that, by applying these instructional approaches, educators can alleviate the stress of the learning process and make learning more efficient and enjoyable for students. Purpose: To understand how barriers and facilitators interact over time to support or disrupt breastfeeding among women on opioid maintenance therapy for opioid use disorder. Background: Breastfeeding has additional benefits for newborns with prenatal opioid exposure. Up to 80% of women on opioid maintenance therapy plan to breastfeed, but many do not beyond the first 7 to 10 days. Methods: A qualitative, longitudinal design was used. Semi-structured interviews occurred during the third trimester of pregnancy and again between 1 and 6 weeks postpartum. Thematic analysis was conducted using the Breastfeeding in a Life Course Context model as a framework. The design and methods were informed by a post-positivist, critical realist perspective. Results: Thirteen participants were enrolled, and 19 interviews were completed. Five themes were identified. It Will Work Out was the primary theme that describes participants' sense of self-efficacy, stemming from their experiences of managing addiction recovery. Women considered breastfeeding to support their own health and that of their newborn while in recovery, summarized by Being Healthy. Making the choice to breastfeed, represented by Weighing the Options, was influenced by their perinatal health care providers. During the Sensitive Period, challenges could overwhelm their self-efficacy. Of 9 women, 4 were still breastfeeding when interviewed postpartum, exemplified by Moving On. Conclusions and Implications for Practice: Participants' self-efficacy and motivation to be healthy played a significant role in managing breastfeeding challenges over time. Resveratrol, acting as a prebiotic, and propionate, functioning as a postbiotic, hold promise for preventing hypertension in chronic kidney disease (CKD). Previously, we employed propionate to enhance the bioavailability of resveratrol through esterification, resulting in the production of a resveratrol propionate ester (RPE) mixture. In this study, we purified 3-Opropanoylresveratrol (RPE2) and 3,4′ -di-O-propanoylresveratrol (RPE4) and investigated their protective effects in a juvenile rat adenine-induced CKD model. To this end, male Sprague Dawley rats aged three weeks (n = 40) were divided into five groups: control; CKD (rats fed adenine); CKRSV (CKD rats treated with 50 mg/L resveratrol); CDRPE2 (CKD rats treated with 25 mg/L RPE2); and CKRPE4 (CKD rats treated with 25 mg/L RPE 4). RPE2 and PRE4 similarly exhibited blood pressure-lowering effects comparable to those of resveratrol, along with increased nitric oxide (NO) availability. Furthermore, RPE2 and RPE4 positively influenced plasma short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) levels and induced distinct alterations in the gut microbial composition of adenine-fed juvenile rats. The supplementation of RPE2 and RPE4, by restoring NO, elevating SCFAs, and modulating the gut microbiota, holds potential for ameliorating CKD-induced hypertension. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The targeted stimulation of micropores based on the transformation of coal's molecular structure is proposed due to the chemical properties and difficult-to-transform properties of micropores. Carbon disulfide (CS2) extraction is used as a targeted stimulation to reveal the internal evolution mechanism of micropore transformation. The variations of microcrystalline structures and micropores of bituminous coal and anthracite extracted by CS2 were analyzed with X-ray diffraction (XRD), low-temperature carbon dioxide (CO2) adsorption, and molecular simulation. The results show that CS2 extraction, with the broken chain effect, swelling effect, and aromatic ring rearrangement effect, can promote micropore generation of bituminous coal by transforming the microcrystalline structure. Furthermore, CS2 extraction on bituminous coal can decrease the average micropore size and increase the micropore volume and area. The aromatic layer fragmentation effect of CS2 extraction on anthracite, compared to the micropore generation effect of the broken chain effect and swelling effect, can enlarge micropores more remarkably, as it induces an enhancement in the average micropore size and a decline in the micropore volume and area. Research background: Cross-national sanctions are external factors with high uncertainty. The current situation of green innovation is not optimistic and the future of the uncertain development is worth exploring. Purpose of the article: This study intends to investigate how cross-national sanctions affect green innovations by examining data from 130 countries from 1990 to 2020. We use six different forms of sanctions (including those from the U.S., EU, UN, as well as unilateral, plurilateral, and economic sanctions) as the primary explanatory variables, with environmental management innovations serving as a proxy for green innovations. Methods: Difference-in-Difference (DID) technique; Logit model. Findings & value added: The number of environmental management inventions produced by a nation's inventors is negatively affected by plurilateral and economic sanctions, as well as by the US and the EU sanctions, while other types of sanctions have weaker effects. In terms of sub-indicators, plurilateral and the US sanctions have a serious negative impact on air pollution control and water pollution control inventions, while plurilateral, The EU and economic sanctions have a negative impact on waste management innovations. However, unilateral and the UN sanctions have no apparent effect on any type of environmental technology. Further logit model tests show that the US and economic sanctions lead to a decrease in green innovations. Moreover, the difference between Asian and African countries is that the negative effects of plurilateral, the U.S., the EU, and economic sanctions are more obvious in African countries, while cross-national sanctions have no significant impact on Asian countries. Objectives: The aim of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the potential benefits of postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) in patients with pN1 oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma. Methods: A literature search through major databases was conducted until January 2023. The adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) or risk ratio (RR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of different survival outcomes were extracted and pooled. Results: Ten studies published between 2005 and 2022, with a pooled patient population of 2888, were included in this meta-analysis. Due to differences in study design and reported outcomes, the studies were categorized into distinct groups. In pN1 patients without extranodal extension (ENE), PORT was associated with a significant improvement in overall survival (OS) (aHR 0.76, 95% CI: 0.61-0.94). In pN1 patients without ENE and positive margins, PORT improved OS (aHR 0.71, 95% CI: 0.56-0.89) and was associated with a lower regional recurrence rate (RR 0.35, 95% CI: 0.15-0.83). However, in pN1 patients without ENE, positive margins, perineural invasion, and lymphovascular invasion, there were no significant differences observed between the PORT and observation groups in either 5-year OS (RR 0.48, 95% CI: 0.07-3.41) or 5-year disease-free survival (RR 0.37, 95% CI: 0.07-2.06). Conclusions: The current study demonstrated that PORT has the potential to improve OS in pN1 disease. However, the decision of whether to administer PORT still hinges on diverse clinical scenarios, and additional research is necessary to furnish a more conclusive resolution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It is crucial for the advancement of political economics and innovation economics to examine the relationship between income inequality and green innovation (GI). Using the panel fixed effect model, this study investigates the influence of income inequality on GI across 97 countries from 1991 to 2018 and demonstrates a significant non-linear association between the two. The empirical data exhibit an inverted U-shape relationship, suggesting that there is an optimal degree of income inequality that optimizes GI output, and the inflection point of our overall sample is at a Gini coefficient of 0.366. Additionally, we choose a set of robustness tests to validate the results by substituting explained variables, adding omitted variables, and employing the difference and system generalized method of moments (GMM) estimations. Moreover, heterogeneity analysis reveals that the non-linear patterns vary among samples, with the U-shape relationship being more significant in countries with lower income, higher corruption, and weaker government effectiveness. Our findings provide government decision-makers with a crucial reference for maximizing the importance of income distribution in fostering GI and achieving sustainable development.
