O objetivo desta pesquisa foi mensurar o crescimento das áreas do conhecimento na pós-graduação nacional entre 1995 e 2014. Os dados foram coletados no Sistema de Informações Georreferenciadas da Capes (GeoCapes). Utilizaram-se como variáveis de estudo: (i) distribuição de programas de pós-graduação por áreas do conhecimento; (ii) distribuição de docentes de pós-graduação; (iii) distribuição de discentes e (iv) investimentos em bolsas e fomento. Os resultados apontaram que as áreas do conhecimento que apresentaram o maior número de programas de pós-graduação foram a Interdisciplinar, as de Ciências Agrárias e a de Educação. As áreas com maior crescimento percentual foram as de Ensino, Biodiversidade e Interdisciplinar. Áreas como Medicina III e Ciências Biológicas tiveram o número de programas reduzidos. Filosofia, Astronomia e Química apresentaram o maior número de docentes vinculados por programa de pós-graduação, no entanto, não formaram o maior número de mestres e doutores.

This study sought to highlight the resources used by an institution of higher education in the pursuit of competitive advantage, based on the precepts of the resource - based view. This is a case study applied in a higher education institution located in Santa Catarina. Data collection was performed through structured questionnaires, responded to the institution's course coordinators and used in conjunction with results obtained using a semi - structured interview with the vice - chancellor. Your search returned the resources of physical, human and organizational capital that the institution currently uses in the search for competitiveness, among them, its financial structure , specialization of the faculty and the management model implemented as well as possible evidence factors and resources that can be enhanced and used to further enhance their market competitiveness.

Introduction: Cognitive distortions are related to gambling frequency and gambling severity. Having a culturally sensitive measure to assess cognitive distortions will facilitate the early detection of people who might be at risk of developing problematic gambling behaviors. The Gamblers' Beliefs Questionnaire was translated into Spanish (GBQ-S) but no previous study explored the structure of the GBQ-S in a non-US sample with different levels of gambling involvement. Aim: The present study examined the factor structure of the GBQ-S in a community sample of gamblers from Argentina. It also analyzed the association between cognitive distortions and type of gambling activity and frequency of gambling behaviors and the predictive utility of the GBQ-S on gambling severity. Participants: 508 youth and adults completed the GBQ-S. Results: The CFA showed an overall acceptable fit to the data confirming the proposed two-factor model. Scores of the two GBQ sub-scales were positively and significantly correlated with scores on gambling severity. Cognitive distortions have a significant effect on gambling severity after controlling for frequency of engagement in gambling activities. Luck and perseverance, but not illusion of control, was positively related to gambling severity. Discussion: scores measured by the GBQ-S exhibit adequate psychometric properties for the accurate assessment of cognitive distortions across adults and youth from the general community of Argentina.

Este artigo apresenta resultados de uma ação investigativa realizada por meio de um “projeto-desafio”, com base na metodologia de “pesquisa de desenvolvimento”, envolvendo estudantes do curso de Licenciatura em Matemática do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Sul, Campus Bento Gonçalves, centrado na obtenção do volume de sólidos gerados pela intersecção de cilindros ortogonais de mesmo raio. O estudo teve como objetivo discutir resoluções clássicas em comparação com possiblidades atuais de obtenção de resultados, sobretudo com o auxílio de recursos tecnológicos disponíveis na contemporaneidade e a geração de um produto concreto. A teoria de George Polya sobre resolução de problemas aplicada a situações que envolvem Matemática orientou o delineamento de um plano de resolução. Os principais resultados obtidos mostram que a compreensão do fenômeno sob investigação é potencializada com o uso de ferramentas tecnológicas de geração e manipulação gráfica, bem como de modelagem tridimensional. Além disso, um dos sólidos em questão foi confeccionado em partes, conforme o procedimento de resolução utilizado, com a utilização de uma impressora 3D, representando um material facilitador do entendimento das etapas desse processo, vistos os objetivos propostos inicialmente. Por fim, destaca-se o caráter de ineditismo da proposta de utilização de técnicas de prototipagem no processo de resolução de problemas não triviais que envolvem Matemática, bem como possibilidades de aplicações em projetos de inovação científica e tecnológica.

Este trabajo examinó conductas de consumo de alcohol y marihuana en adultos emergen-tes universitarios y no universitarios. Además, se examinó la relación entre factores de vulnerabilidad (i.e., impulsividad, percepción del riesgo y normas sociales prescriptivas y descriptivas) y el consumo de alcohol y marihuana en ambas sub-poblaciones de adultos emergentes. Una muestra de 394 participantes (70.8 % universitarios, 72.8 % mujeres) completó una encuesta online. Los resultados destacan la ubicuidad del consumo de al-cohol y marihuana; ambos estadísticamente similares entre estudiantes y no estudiantes. Aunque impulsividad y las normas sociales ejercieron una influencia significativa sobre las conductas de consumo de alcohol y marihuana, estas relaciones fueron más consistentes entre universitarios que entre no universitarios. La información de este estudio sugiere que el diseño de estrategias de prevención e intervención debe atender a las particulari-dades de estudiantes y no estudiantes y a las de la sustancia bajo análisis o intervención.

A imagem do Brasil como país de oportunidades atraiu imigrantes em busca de melhores condições de vida. Em Rio Grande, RS, é considerável o número de senegaleses nessa condição, criando-se a demanda para o ensino de português línguade acolhimento a imigrantes. Este artigo resulta de reflexões sobre um projeto de extensão desenvolvido para promover a integração desses sujeitos na cultura local pelo ensino/aprendizagem do português. Buscou-se também, no referido projeto, oferecer-lhes bases linguísticas para a interação em língua portuguesa; propiciar-lhes o contato com gêneros textuais típicos do mundo do trabalho; e promover competências de compreensão de textos relacionados ao ambiente de trabalho e ao dia a dia. Adotaram-se os fundamentos da Sociolinguística Interacional (Gumperz 1982) e da Antropologia Cultural (Matta 2001). Do ponto de vista pedagógico, selecionou-se a Abordagem Baseada em Tarefas (Janowska 2014; Willis 1996), visando a atender necessidades específicas do grupo. No geral, os aprendizes demonstraram facilidades de aquisição do vocabulário e algumas dificuldades nos níveis fonético e fonológico, como a distinção entre /z/ e /ʒ/; /s/ e /ʃ/; /l/ e /ʎ/. Quanto ao impactos ocial, essa ação contribuiu para o ingresso de alguns alunos no mercado de trabalho formal.

Brazilian reputation as a land of opportunities has attracted immigrants searching for a better living. It is considerable the number of Senegalese in Rio Grande, RS, creating a demand for the teaching of Portuguese as a host language to immigrants. This paper results from reflections on a university extension project to promote the integration of these people in the local culture through Portuguese learning/ teaching. This project was also aimed at offering linguistic grounds for social interaction in Portuguese; providing contact with work-related text genres; and improving reading competences in texts addressing work and daily life. Thus, theoretical background from Interactional Sociolinguistics (Gumperz 1982) and Cultural Anthropology (Matta 2001) have been considered here. From the pedagogical point of view, this work was based upon the Task-based Approach (Janowska 2014; Willis 1996) has been chosen to solve specific needs of the group. In general, it was easy for the students to learn new words, but they showed some difficulties on the phonetic and phonological levels, such as distinguishing /z/ from /ʒ/; /s/ from /ʃ/; /l/ from /ʎ/. As to social impact, this project helped some students find formal jobs.

En mayo del corriente año se presentó en el Congreso de la Nación, una vez más, el Proyecto de Ley de Interrupción Voluntaria del Embarazo. Conversamos con Camila Blanco, Médica residente del Servicio de Medicina Familiar del Hospital Nacional de Clínicas, militante en la agrupación “Artemisa” que participa en la “Campaña Nacional por el Derecho al Aborto Legal, Seguro y Gratuito” e integrante de la “Red de Profesionales de la Salud por el Derecho a Decidir”, sobre sus experiencias como egresada de la Universidad Pública, como militante feminista y como profesional de la salud en instituciones públicas de Córdoba

Abstract The objective of this study was to construct and validate an instrument that evaluates the Quality of Work Life (QWL) globally, following the WHOQOL instruments and founded in QWL's classical theoretical models, directed to the contemporary society. The psychometric properties tested were content validity, face validity, internal consistency, criterion validity, concurrent validity and test-retest reliability in an application to 283 individuals. The final version of the instrument is constituted by 47 questions, being five to sample knowledge and 42 divided in five spheres that contemplate QWL's dimensions. For the results calculation a SPSS syntax and a tool in Microsoft Excel that perform the automated calculation after the data tabulation were developed. The psychometric properties tested were satisfactory. We conclude that the goal of validating a global instrument for evaluation of QWL from the contemporary society culture with satisfactory psychometrical characteristics was reached.

O objetivo do presente estudo é comparar o perfil dos docentes de duas das mais importantes jovens universidades do Brasil, uma clássica, a Universidade Federal do ABC e a outra tecnológica, Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR), nos aspectos gerais do docente (faixa etária, gênero, bolsa de produtividade); na formação do docente (região e país de formação, mobilidade nacional , internacional e domínio de idiomas); na experiência profissional do docente (país e região de formação, atividades complementares, áreas de atuação); e dos produtos desta formação e experiência profissional . O estudo é comparativo e exploratório. O corpus documental foi constituído através de dados da Plataforma Lattes utilizando mineração de dados e estatística descritiva com 623.726.000 registros analisados. Os resultados apontam para a variáveis como bolsas DT e PQ, formações nas regiões Sul e Sudeste, experiência profissional e outras variáveis que diferenciam o perfil dos docentes destes dois modelos de universidades.

The present study examined the measurement invariance of the Big Five Personality Trait Short Questionnaire (BFPTSQ) across language (Spanish and English), Spanish-speaking country of origin (Argentina and Spain) and gender groups (female and male). Evidence of criterion-related validity was examined via associations (i.e., correlations) between the BFPTSQ domains and a wide variety of mental health outcomes. College students (n = 2158) from the USA (n = 1117 [63.21% female]), Argentina (n = 353 [65.72% female]) and Spain (n = 688 [66.86% female]) completed an online survey. Of the tested models, an Exploratory Structural Equation Model (ESEM) fit the data best. Multigroup ESEM and ESEM-within-CFA generally supported the measurement invariance of the questionnaire across groups. Internalizing symptomatology, rumination and low happiness were related mainly to low emotional stability across countries, while low agreeableness and low conscientiousness were related chiefly to externalizing symptomology (i.e., antisocial behavior and drug outcomes). Some correlational differences arose across countries and are discussed. Our findings generally support the BFPTSQ as an adequate measure to assess the Big Five personality domains in Spanish- and English-speaking young adults.

Abstract INTRODUCTION: Paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM) is the most prevalent systemic mycosis in Latin America. This study aimed to evaluate the natural history of Paracoccidioides brasiliensis-induced experimental arthritis of the knee joints in Wistar rats. METHODS: Rats were randomly allocated to either an absolute control group, or 15-day, 45-day, or 90-day experimental (fungus-inoculated) groups. RESULTS: Experimental groups developed classic signs of articular PCM. Titers of anti-gp43 were observed to increase during the interval from 15 to 45 days post-inoculation. CONCLUSIONS: Articular arthritic lesions were induced and progressed during the study period in all experimental groups.

Shade plants of ombrophilous forests are subjected to light-limiting conditions and need to invest in architectural structures associated with leaf symmetry to increase light capture. This study investigated the leaf architecture of six Araucaria forest tree species with distinct symmetry: Cupania vernalis, Casearia sylvestris, Schinus terebinthifolius, Piper gaudichaudianum, Roupala brasiliensis and Cedrela fissilis. We hypothesized that symmetry, associated with other traits, minimizes self-shading. Asymmetry index, petiole length, total leaf area, leaf angle, internode length and stem diameter were measured. The asymmetry index did not indicate a clear distinction between asymmetric and symmetric leaves. Leaves classified as asymmetric had higher values for the asymmetry index in the median and basal regions of the leaf, while symmetrical leaves had higher values in the apical region. The results also indicated an adjustment among structural leaf traits that facilitated a three-dimensional organization that produced an advantageous arrangement for light capture, which seems to be a response to selective pressure by the heterogeneous light conditions of the ombrophilous forest understory.

Purpose: The research This work aimed to analyze the influence of organizational complexity on the measurement of biological assets in the public companies listed in B3. Methodology: To do so, a descriptive, documental and quantitative research was carried out by means of a document, with data obtained through the Economática® database and also in the electronic site of B3. The sample consisted of a set of all the companies listed in B3, however, the sample refers only to the companies that have disclosed biological assets of short or long term in their statements in the balance sheet. Results: The results show that there is an influence of the organizational complexity for the measurement of the biological assets. The multiple regression model explains that 54% of the changes in the measurement records of the companies' total biological assets can be explained by the variable Log_At total according to the predictive model: (Y = 0.654Xi + 0.281x - 0.115 xi + ei). It was verified that, although regarding the form of measurement of the biological assets, the companies of the sample revealed that 72% carry out the valuation of these based on the criteria of the discounted cash flow. Contributions of the Study: Considering the normative nature of CPC 29 and its impacts on the criteria of evaluations of biological assets and agricultural products, the research produced a predictive model capable of explaining and clarifying that aspects of organizational complexity influence the classification of the criterion of measurement of total biological assets and the predictive model can be very useful to produce information for decision making on the aspects investigated, besides offering an additional theoretical contribution for the advancement of studies related to the identification of the organizational complexity and the criteria of measurement of the biological assets.

Three-dimensional (3D) printing is a valuable tool in the production of complexes structures with specific shapes for tissue engineering. Differently from native tissues, the printed structures are static and do not transform their shape in response to different environment changes. Stimuli-responsive biocompatible materials have emerged in the biomedical field due to the ability of responding to other stimuli (physical, chemical, and/or biological), resulting in microstructures modifications. Four-dimensional (4D) printing arises as a new technology that implements dynamic improvements in printed structures using smart materials (stimuli-responsive materials) and/or cells. These dynamic scaffolds enable engineered tissues to undergo morphological changes in a pre-planned way. Stimuli-responsive polymeric hydrogels are the most promising material for 4D bio-fabrication because they produce a biocompatible and bioresorbable 3D shape environment similar to the extracellular matrix and allow deposition of cells on the scaffold surface as well as in the inside. Subsequently, this review presents different bioresorbable advanced polymers and discusses its use in 4D printing for tissue engineering applications.

The objective of this study was to verify whether the energy content and nutritional composition of meals consumed at work (lunch) correlated with the energy expenditure and nutritional status of workers from different sectors (administration and production) of different industries. The sample consisted of 292 workers. Many anthropometric dimensions were assessed, such as physical activity energy expenditure, and daily energy expenditure (DEE). Food intake was measured directly for five days. RESUMO O número de pessoas com deficiência no Brasil e no mundo tem crescido substancialmente nas últimas décadas. Essa realidade tem fomentado o debate sobre as necessidades específicas dessa população e também influenciado a criação de instrumentos de avaliação da qualidade de vida diretamente direcionados a esse cenário particular. O presente estudo tem por objetivo analisar a adequação do WHOQOL-DIS, instrumento de avaliação da qualidade de vida de pessoas com deficiência, aos princípios que determinaram a sua construção. A pesquisa é de natureza qualitativa. O procedimento técnico adotado para o tratamento dos dados é a análise de conteúdo. A referida análise foi direcionada às diretrizes teóricas que sustentam o interesse da Organização Mundial da Saúde na construção do WHOQOL-DIS. Com a análise de conteúdo buscou-se, nos princípios da criação desse instrumento, dados para a avaliação das duas versões do instrumento: a versão internacional e a versão brasileira. Os resultados mostram que há quatro questões presentes na versão brasileira que não estão disponibilizadas na versão internacional. Uma dessas quatro questões está diretamente relacionadas à base da evolução conceitual da deficiência: a acessibilidade e a autonomia. Com sustentação na documentação investigada, cabe argumentar que a ausência dessa questão na versão internacional sugere distanciamento do objetivo inicial. Conclui-se que, entre a versão brasileira e a versão internacional do WHOQOL-DIS, a diferença é a perda, no segundo, daquilo que é o mais importante em um instrumento como este: a valoração daquilo que é significativo para o público ao qual está destinado.

This study aimed to analyse the allelopathic bioactivity of fresh and infused aqueous extracts of Brazilian cherry leaves on the germination of lettuce and the initial development of maize. Brazilian cherry leaves were used to prepare a fresh aqueous extract (200 g L-1) and an infused extract (100 g L-1), which were diluted to concentrations of 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 1.6 or 2.0% w/v. The variables evaluated in lettuce were the germination rate (GR), germination time index (GTI), germination speed index (GSI) and root length (RL). To determine the effect on the initial development of maize, we measured the shoot (SL) and root (RL) length. The experimental design included a factorial 2 × 5 design (two extracts and five concentrations), in addition to a control treatment (no extract). In general, the allelopathic bioactivity differed between the fresh and infused extracts. The fresh extract was more phytotoxic for the GR and RL of lettuce. Some beneficial results were observed for the infused extract, including an increase in the RL of lettuce and SL of maize. These effects were dependent on the extract concentration. Thus, there is evidence that Brazilian cherry extracts have allelopathic bioactivity.

O objetivo do presente artigo é compreender como ocorreu a criação da primeira Universidade Tecnológica (UT) do Brasil, a Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR), no contexto das Revoluções Industriais e em relação à criação ou transformação das UT no mundo, sob um ponto de vista de organização e regulação política. O estudo é de caráter exploratório e documental. O corpus documental é composto pelos rankings Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking (QS), Quacquarelli Symonds Latin America University (QS Latin America); que em 2018 divulgaram as 1000 e as 400 melhores universidades do mundo, respectivamente; e o ranking da Lviv Polytechnic (Ranking of the oldest technical universities of Europe) que apresenta as 50 UT mais antigas do mundo. Os resultados mostram que o berço das UT foi o continente europeu, mas que este modelo universitário não foi induzido pelas Revoluções Industriais, refutando a hipótese de que as UTs tiveram sua origem durante o período da Terceira Revolução Industrial ou Revolução Tecnológica. Na América do Sul, as UT surgiram somente após a Segunda Revolução Industrial, contudo, em número ínfimo. No Brasil, a primeira UT nasceu apenas em 2005, por uma iniciativa própria e não por uma política de Estado. O país não possui políticas que incentivam a criação deste modelo de universidade e isso pode em alguma medida, explicar o atraso brasileiro no desenvolvimento econômico.

Abstract The expression of chemical compounds by individual plants of the same species in different locations may be affected by abiotic factors resulting in differences in the production of allelopathic compounds. The objective of this study was to compare the phytochemical profiles of plant species from two different forest formations in the state of Paraná, Brazil. The forest formations were Seasonal Semideciduous Forest (SSF) and Lowland Ombrophilous Dense Forest (LODF), and the five study species were Jacaranda micrantha, Cecropia pachystachya, Mimosa bimucronata, Schinus terebinthifolius and Cedrela fissilis. Secondary metabolites were extracted by exhaustive extraction with methanol, and the crude extract was fractionated using column chromatography. The fractions were used to calculate the retention factor of the main compounds using thin layer chromatography and phytochemical tests. The classes of compounds identified were practically the same among the analyzed species, however, at different levels of concentration. The type of tannins found in S. terebinthifolius differed between the two forest formations.

The present study aims to understand if the objectives intermediated in the conformation of the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), after a decade of existence, have been changed with its operation. The documentary corpus is composed of official documents of the institution and of semi-structured interviews applied to managers involved in both processes of constitution of the UTFPR and its current moment. The data were treated using the Content Analysis technique. It was verified that UTFPR has not yet constituted its identity as Technological University and that the purposes proposed in the Law of its creation are not explicit in the Institution and it is questioned if they are sufficient to differentiate it from the Classical University. The proposals signed in the University ́s creation year, which involves technological education, high qualified undergraduate students and the teacher ́s profile have changed after twelve years revealing some losses. Although the research has shown growth in recent years, it still requires actions to undertake and transfer benefits to society. The extension presents itself as the great challenge in the University, which has in this artifice its differential as a Technological University. It is concluded that after the first years of being UTFPR, the university went through several changes and some losses, which distanced from the characteristics that make up a Technological University. ___ O presente estudo visa compreender se os objetivos intermediados na conformação da Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR), depois de uma década de existência, foram transmudados com seu funcionamento. O corpus documental é composto por documentos oficiais da instituição e entrevistas semiestruturadas aplicadas a gestores envolvidos tanto no processo de constituição da UTFPR quanto de seu momento atual. Os dados foram tratados através da técnica de Análise de Conteúdo. Constatou-se que: a UTFPR ainda não constituiu sua identidade como UT; as finalidades propostas na Lei de sua criação não são explicitadas na Instituição, e questiona-se se são suficientes para diferenciá- la de uma Universidade Clássica. As propostas firmadas no ano de criação da Universidade, que envolvem a educação tecnológica, a formação de um aluno diferenciado e o perfil do docente sofreram alterações após doze anos, revelando algumas perdas. A Pesquisa, embora tenha apresentado crescimento nos últimos anos, ainda requer ações no sentido de se empreender e transferir benefícios à sociedade. A Extensão apresenta-se como o grande desafio da Universidade, que tem nesse artifício o seu diferencial como UT. Conclui-se que, passados os primeiros anos de funcionamento, a UTFPR sofreu diversas mudanças e alguns prejuízos, os quais acarretaram um afastamento das características que compõem uma UT.

This paper investigates which technological levels of industry contributed most to the formation and development of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the Human Development Index (HDI) in China from 2000 to 2010. These indexes were the dependent variables. The independent variables were selected from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization database, and encompass employees and manufacturing establishments from 23 industries bracketed into technological levels intensity. Ordinary least squares regressions were run to indicate the relationship of dependency and explanatory power between variables. The results showed that mid-low technology level industries have greater impact on the China’s GDP; however, no technology level industry really influences the HDI.

The UPPS Impulsive Behaviour Scale (with five dimensions of impulsive behaviour) is being widely used. One of the handicaps of this instrument is its relatively long administration time. This has led to the development of a short version: SUPPS-P. There are no studies comparing the relationship between the SUPPS-P scores and the original UPPS-P scores. The objectives of this study, therefore, were to analyse the psychometric properties, concordance of person measures, and efficiency of the SUPPS-P compared to those on UPPS-P, applying an Item Response Theory Model. The UPPS-P and SUPPS-P were administered to 455 undergraduate students. Confirmatory factorial analysis replicated structures reported in previous studies: the five correlated factors structure and the model with two second-order factors (Urgency and Lack of Awareness) with Sensation Seeking dimension as a different factor. Rasch analysis show that both of the instruments presented adequate model-data fit. The results show the measurement for each dimension of UPPS-P offered more precision than SUPPS-P. The structure of items location was maintained in each dimension of SUPPS-P compared to the UPPS-P, but with better person and item separation indices of the UPPS-P dimensions. The concordance analysis reveals high correlations values between scores on both versions. From the standpoint of reducing items, it can be considered that the reduced version is more efficient. This study does not support the equivalence of items on the dimensions of Sensation Seeking and Lack of perseverance.

En la región central de Santa Fe, durante los días 7 y 8 de junio del año 2012 se produjeron heladas advectivas de gran intensidad y duración. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue caracterizar los daños por heladas y el comportamiento vegetativo y reproductivo de diferentes variedades de cítricos, durante la siguiente estación de crecimiento. En las plantaciones se reportaron pérdidas de fruta, defoliaciones y hasta muerte de plantas. La brotación del siguiente ciclo (y) estuvo inversamente relacionada con la defoliación (x) producida (y=146,32-0,92x). Se observó una reducida intensidad de floración con predominio de brotes vegetativos y generativos con hojas. El cuajado de los frutos aumentó entre un 69 a 92% en relación con los valores medios de la zona, a excepción de las mandarinas. El rendimiento alcanzado por cada variedad luego de los daños por fuertes heladas se relacionó con su intensidad de floración media en la zona. Las variedades que normalmente desarrollan intensidades de floración superiores a 250 flores cada 100 nudos en años sin fuertes heladas presentaron un rendimiento superior a su valor promedio. En cambio, aquellas que normalmente presentan menores intensidades de floración tuvieron disminuciones de rendimiento entre un 26,3 y 84,5% respecto de su valor medio.

Resumo:A acessibilidade é um tema de grande relevância social. Destaca-se por promover a inclusão das pessoas com deficiências (PCDs) e por ser um meio para o atendimento aos seus direitos, entre os quais, o de acesso a todos os níveis de ensino. Frente a tal contexto, o objetivo do presente estudo é investigar a acessibilidade na Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR), verificada a partir da visão do gestor e dos relatórios do Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (Inep). Para a coleta de dados utilizou-se análise documental e entrevista. Na análise documental foram analisados os relatórios de 21 cursos da UTFPR avaliados pelo Inep, no ano de 2014. Para a entrevista, direcionada à gestão dessa Instituição, o procedimento foi a entrevista semiestruturada. Nos relatórios, pouco há sobre observações dirigidas à acessibilidade. A partir da entrevista, foram verificados problemas provenientes de estruturas anteriores à legislação atual e da falta de orçamento para a adaptação dessas estruturas. Conclui-se que os campi da UTFPR não atendem integralmente aos requisitos legais e normativos estabelecidos pelo Ministério da Educação (MEC), mas são considerados atendidos nas avaliações do Inep.

This study contributes to the literature on quality of work life (QWL), testing the relationship between QWL and organizational commitment (OC) through questionnaires. It was used a sample of 40 operating level employees of a unit located in Joinville/SC of a large retail clothing company in Brazil. The results indicated a significant positive relationship between QWL and CO. To this end, it was used the Pearson correlation coefficient to establish the correlation between the two factors. Statistical analyzes showed that the two constructs are correlated. Implications of results and directions for future research are presented in this study

O objetivo deste artigo foi analisar as produções didático-pedagógicas produzidas pelos professores de Biologia durante sua participação no Programa de Desenvolvimento Educacional (PDE) do estado do Paraná. Optou-se por uma abordagem exploratória e a análise documental como instrumento de coleta de dados. Foram encontradas 207 produções didático-pedagógicas. Dessas, a maioria (23%) foi orientada por professores da Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (Unioeste-PR). Os conteúdos de saúde humana e ecologia foram os mais abordados (ambos 22%), e as unidades didáticas foram as preferidas pelos professores (20%). Contudo, a maioria das publicações (33%) apresenta o formato das produções didático-pedagógicas indefinidas na sinopse. Conclui-se, a partir dos resultados, que os professores de Biologia também podem ser produtores de conhecimento, no lugar de apenas consumidores de materiais didáticos que, na maior parte dos casos, não são ligados aos problemas que se deparam na realidade de suas escolas. o olhar a respeito das pessoas com deficiência tem se alterado ao longo dos anos. O mesmo tem ocorrido com os números e percepções que retratam a dimensão da deficiência. O objetivo deste estudo é identificar essas mudanças a partir dos instrumentos de levantamento populacional. Para isso, acompanhou-se a evolução da abordagem dada à deficiência, tanto em relação ao foco, quanto à base conceitual dos referidos instrumentos. Para esta análise foram estudados os Recenciamentos realizados no período de 1872 à 2010, e as Pesquisas Nacionais por Amostra de Domicílios realizadas entre 1981 e 2003. Verificou-se que as mudanças operacionalizadas nos recenseamentos acompanharam a evolução conceitual da deficiência. Essa mudança de olhar também acabou mostrando que o universo das deficiências é bem mais amplo que anteriormente se enxergava. E mostra também que a sociedade é responsável, ao não se adequar às desigualdades, pela criação social da deficiência, em torno de 45.606.048 milhões de pessoas, o que corresponde a 23,9% da população brasileira.

Indicators synthesizing the state of the structural quality and the function of the porous system are useful for assessing soil production capacity as well as the way it may serve natural ecosystems. This research aimed (i) to determine indicators of the state and function of the porous system, (ii) to use them to derive a global index to characterize the soil physical quality, and iii) to establish a reference pore-size distribution curve for Mollisols from the province of Santa Fe (Argentina). Sixty water retention curves (WRC) of A and B horizons of Mollisols, with clay varying between 119 and 538 g kg−1, organic matter between 5 and 40 g kg−1, and soil bulk density between 1.09 and 1.49 Mg m−3, were used. The indicators measured were: pore size distribution, macroporosity (PORp), air capacity (ACt) and plant-available water capacity (PAWC) among others. Soils were classified into four groups according to their physical properties and a reference WRC was determined. From this WRC and considering a total porosity of 0.514 m3 m−3, PORp was 0.035 m3 m−3, ACt 0.153 m3 m−3, field capacity 0.361 m3 m−3, permanent wilting point 0.136 m3 m−3 and PAWC 0.225 m3 m−3. Both the high silt content and low organic matter content confer on the soil characteristics with low stability, excess of small pores and low porosity of the macropore domain. Consequently, the capacity to quickly drain the water excess and allow root proliferation was not optimal, possibly due to the high silt or clay content and the low sand content, characteristic of the soil matrix of these Mollisols.

Lonchophylla is a genus of currently 13 nectar-feeding bat species found throughout Central and South America, including Lonchophylla mordaxThomas, 1903, a species endemic to Brazil. Currently nationally categorized as 'Data Deficient', L. mordax has several knowledge gaps, including basic ones on its natural history. Here, we provide information on L. mordax's pattern of nocturnal activity, reproductive peak, sex and age ratios, its relationship with ectoparasites, as well as its distribution and taxonomy. Fieldwork was conducted in the Caatinga (seasonally dry tropical forest) in north-eastern Brazil between 2012 and 2015, during which we captured 110 L. mordax individuals. Our results showed that there was no significant difference in body mass or forearm length between males and females, with a sex ratio of 1:1. We obtained four adult individuals for every subadult captured. Lonchophylla mordax individuals were active throughout the entire sample night period but with a significant peak in activity in the first 30 min after sunset. The number of captures was strongly negatively correlated with minutes after sunset. Pregnant females were captured between July and February, and subadults were captured mainly in July and August, suggesting that the peak of births occurred at the end of the dry period and the beginning of the rainy period in the study area. Additionally, almost 70% of L. mordax individuals were parasitized by streblid flies, with no significant difference in parasite load observed across seasons, sexes, and ages. However, the individuals' body condition index was negatively correlated with the parasite load. Natural history research, such as that described here, helps to fill knowledge gaps on L. mordax, including providing data for the decision-making in conservation plans. Moreover, we add information for a species-rich genus with closely related, but poorly-studied, species globally listed as threatened or near-threatened. Lonchophylla es un género de 13 especies de murciélagos que se alimentan de néctar y se encuentran en toda América Central y del Sur, incluyendo Lonchophylla mordaxThomas, 1903, una especie endémica de Brasil. Actualmente categorizada a nivel nacional como 'Datos Insuficientes', L. mordax presenta varios vacíos de conocimiento, incluyendo información básica sobre su historia natural. Aquí, proporcionamos información sobre el patrón de actividad nocturna de L. mordax, su pico reproductivo, relaciones de género y edad, su relación con los ectoparásitos, así como su distribución y taxonomía. El trabajo de campo se llevó a cabo en el bioma Caatinga (bosque tropical estacionalmente seco) en el noreste de Brasil entre 2012 y 2015, durante el cual capturamos 110 individuos de L. mordax. Nuestros resultados mostraron que no había una diferencia significativa en la masa corporal o la longitud del antebrazo entre machos y hembras, con una proporción de sexos de 1:1. Se obtuvo cuatro individuos adultos por cada subadulto capturado. Los individuos de L. mordax estuvieron activos durante todo el período de muestreo nocturno, pero con un pico significativo de actividad en los primeros 30 min después de la puesta del sol. El número de capturas se correlacionó negativamente de manera significativa con los minutos después del atardecer. Las hembras preñadas fueron capturadas entre julio y febrero, y los subadultos fueron capturados principalmente en julio y agosto, lo que sugiere que el pico de nacimientos ocurrió al final del período seco y al comienzo del período lluvioso en el área de estudio. Además, casi el 70% de los individuos de L. mordax estaban parasitados por moscas Streblidae, sin diferencia significativa en la carga parasitaria observada entre estaciones, sexos y edades. Sin embargo, el índice de condición corporal de los individuos se correlacionó negativamente con la carga parasitaria. La investigación de la historia natural, como la descrita aquí, ayuda a llenar los vacíos de conocimiento sobre L. mordax, lo que incluye proporcionar datos para la toma de decisiones en los planes de conservación. Además, agregamos información para un género rico en especies con especies estrechamente relacionadas, pero poco estudiadas, globalmente listadas como amenazadas o casi amenazadas. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar de forma comparativa o desempenho olímpico e paralímpico dos países nos jogos Rio-2016. A referida análise é realizada com base em um quadro de medalhas unificado. Para tal, foi coletado o quadro de medalhas dos Jogos Olímpicos e Paralímpicos e, em sentido adicional, foi também considerado o tamanho populacional e o faturamento (Produto Interno Bruto) dos países que se constituem foco da presente análise. Verificou-se que China, Reino Unido e Estados Unidos apresentaram-se nas primeiras classificações em ambas as competições. Adicionalmente, encontrou-se que o faturamento e tamanho populacional são correlacionadas com o número total de medalhas e também com o número de medalhas de ouro. Conclui-se que o desempenho olímpico apresenta inter-relação com o faturamento e o tamanho populacional.

The transition from high school to college is a high-risk stage for the initiation and escalation of substance use. Substance use and its associated risk factors have been thoroughly described in developed countries, such as the United States, but largely neglected in Argentina, a South American country with patterns of a collectivist culture. The present cross-sectional study describes the occurrence of alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana use and the association between these behaviors and the age of onset of substance use and cognitive (i.e., risk perception) and social (i.e., prescriptive) variables in a large sample of Argentinean college freshmen (n = 4083, 40.1% men; mean age = 19.39 ± 2.18 years). The response rate across courses was ≥90% and was similarly distributed across sex. Participants completed a survey that measured substance use (alcohol [with a focus on heavy drinking and binge drinking behaviors], tobacco, and marijuana), age of onset of the use of each substance, perceived risk associated with various substance use behaviors, prescriptive norms associated with substance use, and descriptive norms for alcohol use (AU). The results indicated that AU is nearly normative (90.4 and 80.3% with last year and last month use, respectively) in this population, and heavy drinking is highly prevalent (68.6 and 54.9% with heavy episodic and binge drinking, respectively), especially among those with an early drinking onset (97.8 and 93.6% with last year and last month use and 87.8 and 76.3% with heavy episodic and binge drinking, respectively). The last-year occurrence of tobacco and marijuana use was 36 and 28%, respectively. Early substance use was associated with the greater use of that specific substance. The students overestimated their same-sex friend’s AU, and women overestimated the level of AU of their best male friend. At the multivariate level, all of the predictors, with the exception of the parents’ prescriptive norms, significantly explained the frequency of marijuana and tobacco use and frequency of hazardous drinking. Overall, despite important cultural and contextual differences between Argentina and the United States, our findings suggest that certain vulnerability factors have a similar influence across these cultural contexts.

Objetivo: Identificar o perfil dos pacientes com câncer e em cuidados paliativos e suas demandas referentes ao atendimento multidisciplinar existente em um Serviço de Atenção Domiciliar. Métodos: Estudo transversal com coleta de dados secundários dos pacientes oncológicos em cuidados paliativos atendidos pelo Programa de Atenção Domiciliar do Grupo Hospitalar Conceição, no ano de 2013. Aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética e Pesquisa sob o número 13.203. Resultados: Foram acompanhados 63 pacientes com diagnóstico de neoplasia. Dentre esses, 71,5% (n=45) estavam em cuidados paliativos. As medianas do tempo de acompanhamento dos pacientes foram de 22 (3-146) dias e do número de visitas realizadas pela equipe foi 6 (1-34). Além das visitas semanais realizadas pelas equipes, os pacientes receberam assistência de nutricionista, fisioterapeuta e assistente social. Considerando as 45 internações, os principais cuidados foram controle da dor, curativos em feridas, controle glicêmico, e antibioticoterapia endovenosa. A principal intercorrência clínica foi a repassagem de cateter nasoenteral (n=5). A alta em condições estáveis de saúde ocorreu em 10 pacientes. Conclusão: O presente estudo permitiu a identificação das principais demandas dos pacientes em cuidados paliativos oncológicos atendidos por um serviço de Atenção Domiciliar. Observa-se na prática deste serviço que a maioria dos pacientes apresentou necessidade de cuidados complexos, mas possíveis de serem realizados no domicílio pela equipe de saúde e/ou cuidador capacitado.

The ability of Pasteurella multocida to invade and multiply in its host is enhanced by the presence of the capsule, one of the most important virulence factors for this bacterium. Capsular typing methods are often used in epidemiological and pathogenesis studies of this agent. Five different serogroups have been identified based on serological typing. However, such tests are laborious, and agglutination of homologous antiserum may fail. The aim of this study was to develop a multiplex PCR protocol for the identification of the hyaD-hyaC and dcbF genes specific to serogroups A and D, respectively, and to compare these results with those of phenotypic tests for 54 strains isolated from fowl cholera cases in southern Brazil. The kappa coefficient and chisquare statistics were calculated to assess the agreement between the diagnostic methods and to determine the significance of the results, respectively. The multiplex PCR was able to detect the evaluated genes. Forty-nine strains (90.74%) were classified into serogroup A, and only two isolates (3.7%) were not identified as belonging to any of the serogroups analyzed. In contrast, with the phenotypic tests, only 41 strains (75.93%) were classified into serogroup A and 11 samples (20.37%) were unidentifiable. Of the strains analyzed, 70.37% were classified into the same serogroup (A) by both methods, and the kappa coefficient (k = 0.017) indicated poor agreement between the tests. Thus, multiplex PCR is an alternative for P. multocida capsular typing, as it allows the simultaneous and rapid detection of genes and also provides a greater strain-typing capacity.

O presente estudo teve por objetivo desenvolver e validar a versão brasileira do instrumento Diagnóstico do Trabalho de Hackman e Oldham. O processo de tradução e adaptação cultural do instrumento seguiu o procedimento adotado pelo Instrumento de Avaliação de Qualidade de Vida da Organização Mundial da Saúde - WHOQOL na elaboração das versões traduzidas dos instrumentos WHOQOL. O coeficiente alfa de Cronbach apresentou valores significativos para todas as dimensões avaliadas. Com relação à validade de critério, todas as dimensões apresentaram correlações significativas entre si. No que concerne à validade concorrente, inferiu-se que a correlação entre média das dimensões do Diagnóstico do Trabalho com o escore global do Instrumento de Avaliação da Qualidade de Vida no Trabalho de Walton foi significativa. A confiabilidade teste-reteste mostrou que em nenhuma das dimensões houve variação significativa e em todas as dimensões o índice de correlação entre ambas as aplicações demonstrou-se significativo. A versão brasileira do instrumento Diagnóstico do Trabalho de Hackman e Oldham foi validada, apresentando propriedades psicométricas satisfatórias, mantendo as características originais do instrumento.

The development of researches about vigor provides greater insight about the physiological behavior of seeds over storage periods. The aim of this study was to evaluate the biochemical changes which occurred in beans stored for 360 days. Analyses were performed at 0, 30, 90, 180, 270, and 360 days after receiving the seeds (S1 and S2) and grains (G1 and G2) of BRS Splendor. The following tests were conducted: water content, electrical conductivity, and chemical composition of the soaking solution, where sugars and ions Fe2+, Zn, Ca2+, Mg2+ and K+ were quantified. The experimental design was completely randomized split-plot and means were compared through Tukey test (p>0.05). Water content decreased after 90 days, and after 180 days reached an average of 16%. The electrical conductivity showed the greatest loss of solute after 90 days. Larger amounts of soluble sugars were found in S1 and G1. The quantities of potassium and calcium decreased after 360 days, while magnesium increased after 90 days of storage. The electrical conductivity test showed no direct relation to the quantification of the investigated ions. The amount and behavior of amino acids and studied ions did not showed relation to the decrease in vigor of beans.

In order to complete the validation process of the Cuestionario de Expectativas sobre el Alcohol para Adolescentes [Expectations Questionnaire on Alcohol Intake for Adolescents -CEA-A for its Spanish acronym] initiated at an earlier stage, a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted. A sample of 343 adolescents aged 13 to 18 from public high schools participated in the present study. The Expectations Questionnaire on Alcohol Intake for Adolescents was used to assess the effects that adolescents anticipate from drinking alcohol. Data were assessed by means of a fit model whereby expectations are divided into three scales corresponding to the positive effects of alcohol intake and another three referring to the negative ones. The indices used were the following: CIMIN/df, GFI, CFI, RMSEA.Results confirmed the previously found structure of three scales for positive expectations on alcohol intake and three scales for negative expectations. According to that, the CEA-A is a valid and reliable measure to assess alcohol expectations of Argentinean adolescents.

En este trabajo analizamos, separadamente para hombres y mujeres, la relación entre impulsividad y consumo de alcohol. Clasificamos a los participantes en tres clases de consumo de alcohol y examinamos diferencias en impulsividad rasgo entre las clases. Participaron 435 jóvenes que completaron una encuesta online. A nivel bivariante, la relación entre los distintos indicadores de consumo de alcohol no fue la misma con todas las dimensiones de la UPPS-P. En general, el perfil de asociación entre las variables fue similar en hombres y en mujeres. A nivel multivariante, se destaca la asociación de urgencia negativa (β entre .24 y .34) y urgencia positiva (β entre .15 y .28) sobre el consumo de alcohol y los problemas asociados. Las clases mostraron diferencias en el perfil de impulsividad subyacente entre las mujeres. Las mujeres con consumo de riesgo son más impulsivas que sus pares con menor consumo en las cinco dimensiones de la UPPS-P.

Mollisols of Santa Fe have different tilth and load support capacity. Despite the importance of these attributes to achieve a sustainable crop production, few information is available. The objectives of this study are i) to assess soil physical indicators related to plant growth and to soil mechanical behavior; and ii) to establish relationships to estimate the impact of soil loading on the soil quality to plant growth. The study was carried out on Argiudolls and Hapludolls of Santa Fe. Soil samples were collected to determine texture, organic matter content, bulk density, water retention curve, soil resistance to penetration, least limiting water range, critical bulk density for plant growth, compression index, pre-consolidation pressure and soil compressibility. Water retention curve and soil resistance to penetration were linearly and significantly related to clay and organic matter (R2 = 0.91 and R2 = 0.84). The pedotransfer functions of water retention curve and soil resistance to penetration allowed the estimation of the least limiting water range and critical bulk density for plant growth. A significant nonlinear relationship was found between critical bulk density for plant growth and clay content (R2 = 0.98). Compression index was significantly related to bulk density, water content, organic matter and clay plus silt content (R2 = 0.77). Pre-consolidation pressure was significantly related to organic matter, clay and water content (R2 = 0.77). Soil compressibility was significantly related to initial soil bulk density, clay and water content. A nonlinear and significantly pedotransfer function (R2 = 0.88) was developed to predict the maximum acceptable pressure to be applied during tillage operations by introducing critical bulk density for plant growth in the compression model. The developed pedotransfer function provides a useful tool to link the mechanical behavior and tilth of the soils studied.
