This species is distinguished by the posterior margin of elytra broadly rounded; declivital face with interstriae 1 and 2 unarmed by tubercles; declivital face moderately sulcate, striae punctate; lateral declivital margins elevated, bearing 6–8 pairs of small to moderate, narrow, sharply pointed and recurved spines (often asymmetric) on basal 2/3 of declivity; and sulcate area of declivity shagreened, subshining. Body, legs, and antennae uniformly brown. Head: epistoma entire, transverse, with a row of hair-like setae. Frons weakly convex to upper level of eyes, alutaceous, dull, densely, coarsely punctate, setose; punctures each a long, erect hair-like seta. Eyes shallowly emarginate just above antennal insertion, upper part smaller than lower part. Submentum large, distinctly triangular, deeply impressed. Antennal scape regularly thick, as long as club. Pedicel as wide as scape, as long as funicle. Funicle 4-segmented, segment 1 shorter than pedicel. Club longer than wide, obliquely truncate, type 1; segment 1 corneous, encircling anterior face; segment 2 narrow, concave, corneous on anterior face only; sutures absent on posterior face. Pronotum 1.11 × as long as wide. In dorsal view basic and parallel-sided type 2, sides parallel in basal 2/3, rounded anteriorly; anterior margin without serrations. In lateral view elongate, disc longer than anterior slope, type 7, summit low, on apical 2/5. Anterior slope with densely spaced narrow asperities, becoming lower and more strongly transverse towards summit, bearing long, fine, semi-recumbent, hair-like setae. Disc subshiny, alutaceous, finely punctate, finely setose, setae short, erect, hair-like, some longer hair-like setae at margins. Lateral margins obliquely costate. Base transverse, posterior angles acutely rounded. Scutellum minute, conical, disconnected from elytra, surrounded by dense mycangial tuft of setae. Elytra: 1.67 × as long as wide, elytra 1.50 × as long as pronotum. Base transverse, medially emarginate near scutellum and mycangial tuft, edge oblique, humeral angles angulate, parallel-sided in basal 3/4, then broadly rounded to apex. Disc occupying basal 2/3, smooth, shiny, glabrous, unarmed; striae not impressed, glabrous, with moderate punctures separated by 1–2 diameters of a puncture; interstriae flat, sparsely finely biseriate punctate, punctures 1/2 as large as those of striae, each bearing erect hair-like setae, setae approximately as long as width of interstriae 2. Declivital face steeply rounded, moderately sulcate between interstriae 3, shagreened, subshiny, striae and interstriae moderately setose, setae long, semi-erect hair-like, as long as the distance between suture and interstriae 3 on declivital margins and semi-recumbent and no longer than an interstrial width on declivital face; three striae present, striae 1 and 2 subcontiguous, confused; strial punctures larger, deeper than on disc; interstriae 1 and 2 flat, armed by two and three denticles, respectively on declivital base, unarmed on face; interstriae 2 very narrow; interstriae 3 forming declivital margin, distinctly elevated, 6–8 pairs of small to moderate, narrow sharply pointed and recurved spines (often asymmetric) on basal 2/3. Posterolateral margin rounded, denticulate from interstriae 3–7. Legs: procoxae contiguous, prosternal coxal piece inflated. This species is distinguished by the unique pronotal apex which is produced ventrad to form a quadrate process bearing four large teeth and the area dorsad of process appearing bisulcate. Similar species. Cnestus nitidipennis (Schedl, 1951), C. protensus (Eggers, 1930) Description (female). 4.2 mm long (mean = 4.2 mm; n = 2); 1.91 × as long as wide. Head red, frons, epistoma black, pronotum red with black anterior quadrate process, elytra black, each elytron with a large transparent area on the declivity, antennae and legs light brown. Head: mandibles enlarged (in lateral view protruding forward at 90° to the plane of the frons, dorsoventrally deeper than normal; in anterior view, with an upwardly directed, smooth, rounded process on the dorsal side); epistoma moderately and broadly emarginate with a row of hair-like setae. Frons transversely impressed from epistoma to upper level of eyes; median carina absent; surface setose, shagreened, tuberculate, moderately covered with erect hair-like setae, tubercles larger, denser above eyes. Eyes very shallowly emarginate just above antennal insertion, upper part much smaller than lower part. Antennal scape long and slender, longer than club. Pedicel as wide as scape, shorter than funicle. Funicle 3-segmented, segment 1 shorter than pedicel. Club longer than wide, obliquely truncate, type 1; segment 1 corneous, encircling anterior face; segment 2 narrow, concave, corneous on anterior face only; sutures absent on posterior face. Pronotum 0.95 × as long as wide. In dorsal view conical, type 6, sides parallel in basal 1/2, rounded anteriorly; anterior margin produced ventrad to form a quadrate process bearing four large teeth, area dorsad of process appearing bisulcate. In lateral view uniformly rounded without distinct summit, type 1, disc flat. Anterior slope with densely spaced, coarse and large asperities, becoming lower and more strongly transverse towards summit, bearing long, fine, erect hairlike setae, some longer hair-like setae at anterior and lateral margins. Disc shining, alutaceous with dense, coarse punctures, glabrous. Lateral margins carinate. Base carinate, medially emarginate, posterior angles broadly rounded. Mycangial tuft absent. Scutellum large, linguiform, flush with elytra, flat, shining. Elytra: 0.95 × as long as wide, as long as pronotum, glabrous. Base transverse, edge oblique, humeral angles rounded, parallel-sided in basal 1/2, then broadly rounded to apex. Strial punctures minute; interstriae impunctate. Declivity strongly rounded, smooth, transversely impressed before apex; six striae present. Posterolateral margin carinate to interstriae 3. Legs: procoxae contiguous. Protibiae very slender with three large, narrow denticles on outer margin; posterior face smooth. Meso- and metatibiae flattened, outer margins evenly rounded with five and 12, large similarly sized socketed denticles, their length longer than basal width. Distribution. India (Karnataka). Host plants. The type series was collected from Grevillea robusta (Proteaceae). Etymology. L. luculentus = brilliant, excellent. A variable adjective.

This species is distinguished by moderate size; declivital slope gradual; separation between the smooth shiny elytral disc and shagreened declivity gradual, not sharply distinct; declivital striae weakly impressed, strial punctures small, indistinct; declivital interstriae 1–3 armed with a row of few and sparse seriate granules; and elytral apex and posterolateral margin granulate. This species is superficially similar to species in the C. pelliculosum species group (Smith et al. 2020a) which includes C. achlys, C. bodoanum (Reitter, 1913), C. inarmatum (Eggers, 1923), and C. tenuigraphum (Schedl, 1953a) among others. C. nepalense can be distinguished by the following combination of characters (C. nepalense given first): declivital interstriae 2 feebly granulate vs unarmed (rarely granulate in some C. pelliculosum and C. tenuigraphum); the more gradual slope of the elytral declivity that occupies 1/3 of the elytra vs steep declivity occupying 1/4 of elytra; elytral disc with confused strial and interstrial punctures that are the same size vs strial punctures distinct, seriate and interstrial punctures confused. Head: epistoma entire, transverse, with a row of hair-like setae. Frons weakly convex to upper level of eyes; surface subshiny, punctate, alutaceous, rugose. Eyes deeply emarginate just above antennal insertion, upper part smaller than lower part. Submentum narrow, triangular, deeply impressed. Antennal scape short and thick, as long as club. Pedicel as wide as scape, shorter than funicle. Funicle 4-segmented, segment 1 shorter than pedicel. Club approximately circular and flat, type 3; segment 1 corneous, transverse on anterior face, occupying basal ~2/5; segment 2 narrow, corneous; segments 1 and 2 present on posterior face. Pronotum 1.22 × as long as wide. In dorsal view long and rounded frontally, type 7, sides parallel in basal 3/4, rounded anteriorly; anterior margin without serrations. In lateral view elongate with disc much longer than anterior slope, type 7, disc flat, summit at apical 2/5. Anterior slope shagreened, with densely spaced, fine, narrow asperities, becoming lower and more strongly transverse towards summit, bearing long, fine, semi-recumbent, hair-like setae. Disc subshiny, alutaceous, densely, finely punctate, finely setose, setae short, erect, hair-like. Lateral margins obliquely costate. Base transverse, posterior angles broadly rounded. Scutellum large, broad, linguiform, shiny, flush with elytra, flat. Elytra: 1.78 × as long as wide, 1.45 × as long as pronotum. Base transverse, edge oblique, humeral angles rounded, parallelsided in basal 3/4, then broadly rounded to apex. Disc flat, shiny, striae and interstriae densely setose, setae long, semi-recumbent, hair-like; striae and interstriae not impressed, minutely punctate, punctures strongly confused, separated by 2‒4 diameters of a puncture. Declivity occupying ~1/3 of elytra, declivital slope gradual, rounded, shagreened, separation between the smooth shiny disc and shagreened declivity gradual, not sharply distinct; three striae present, striae 2 equidistant between 1 and 3, striae weakly impressed, punctures moderate, much larger than on disc; interstriae feebly convex, interstriae setose, setae moderate, long, semi-erect hair-like; interstriae minutely punctate, interstriae 1–3 armed with a row of few and sparse seriate granules. Posterolateral margin rounded, granulate. Legs: procoxae contiguous; prosternal coxal piece tall and pointed. Protibiae semi-circular with evenly rounded outer edge, broadest at apical 1/3; posterior face smooth; apical 1/3 of outer margin with seven moderate socketed denticles, their length approximately as long as basal width. Beaverium obstipus (Schedl, 1935) Description (female). 4.15–4.6 mm long (mean = 4.32 mm; n = 5); 1.91–2.19 × as long as wide. Body, legs and antennae ferruginous. Head: epistoma entire, transverse, with a row of hair-like setae. Frons weakly convex to upper level of eyes; surface shining, punctate, alutaceous. Eyes moderately emarginate just above antennal insertion, upper part smaller than lower part. Submentum narrow, triangular, weakly impressed. Antennal scape long and slender, as long as club. Pedicel narrower than scape, shorter than funicle. Antennal funicle 4-segmented, segment 1 shorter than pedicel. Club as broad as tall, circular, club type 4, flattened, segment 1 corneous, transverse on anterior face, occupying about 2/5 of club; segment 2 narrow, corneous; segments 1–3 visible on posterior face. Pronotum 0.9–1.05 × as long as wide. In dorsal view rounded, type 1, sides parallel on basal 2/3; anterior margin with a short continuous recurved carina. In lateral view robust and subquadrate, type 5, disc flat, summit at basal third. Anterior slope shagreened, with densely spaced, fine, narrow asperities, becoming lower and more strongly transverse towards summit, bearing long, fine, semi-recumbent, hair-like setae. Disc subshiny, coarsely, densely punctate. Lateral margins obliquely costate. Base transverse, posterior angles strongly oblique. Scutellum moderate, broadly linguiform, flush with elytra, flat, shiny. Elytra: 1.05–1.19 × as long as wide, 1.18–1.33 × as long as pronotum, shining. Base transverse, humeral angles rounded, sides convex with constrictions at basal and apical tenth, then narrowly rounded to apex; lateral profile of declivity rounded, apex posterolaterally broadened, entire. Disc convex, appearing humped, subshiny; striae not impressed, with large, shallow punctures separated by 0.5–3 diameters of a puncture, glabrous; interstriae flat, punctures half size of strial punctures, confused, each with a long, erect seta (mostly abraded). Declivity occupying ~1/2 of elytra, gradual, face flat, smooth, subshiny, glabrous; strial and interstrial punctures strongly confused, indistinguishable, striae not impressed, punctures larger than those of discal. Posterolateral margin elevated, costate to interstriae 5. Legs: procoxae contiguous; prosternal coxal piece tall and pointed. Protibiae obliquely triangular broadest at apical 1/4; posterior face smooth; apical 1/2 of outer margin with 8–10 moderate socketed denticles, each approximately as long as basal width. Meso- and metatibiae broad, flattened; outer margin evenly rounded with 13 or 14 and 11 or 12 large socketed denticles, respectively, their length longer than basal width. Distribution. Mandible slender tridentate, tapering to apex, dorsal subapical tooth smaller than middle subapical tooth, middle subapical tooth smaller than apical tooth. F1 black. Mesosoma entirely red; dorsal thoracic length 0.90× mesosomal width; humeral carina lamellately projecting; posterior propodeal face without medial carina. Legs yellowish red with femoral apices, tibiae, and tarsi dark brown to black. Metasoma black; T2 length 0.96× width; T2 disc flattened medially, with anteromedial elongate spot of golden setae; T2 punctures small confluent; T2 posterior band wide, pale golden, complete; T3 with wide uniform band of golden setae; S1 dark brown; S2 punctures large sparse; surface of pygidial plate finely longitudinally rugose on anterior 2/3 and smooth posteriorly; lateral margins of pygidial plate subparallel, carinate throughout. The type species of Andreimyrme, A. long, is named using a Chinese word for dragon. These species have similar mandibles and may be eventually recognized as belonging to the same species. Remarks. The mandibular shape of this new species is unique among females in the genus; only A. silvorientalis sp. nov. has a similar apically dilated mandible. Andreimyrme rong sp. nov. overlaps with the male genotype, A. long, in Chiang Mai, Thailand, although the latter species has not been formally recorded. The extremely dilated mandible shape of this female superficially resembles that of A. long. For this reason, we suspect that A. rong may eventually be recognized as the female for that species, which is why we provided a similar name.

The specific name auricoma, meaning “golden-haired”, is a Latin singular feminine adjective in the nominative case and refers to the orange-golden setae on the vertex and thoracic dorsum of this new species. Remarks. This new species is similar to A. borkenti and A. takensis by having the mandible tapering to apex, but differs by having the frons and vertex with large confluent punctures (dense but separated in A. takensis), the vertex with medial carina (lacking in A. takensis), the clypeus medially elevated but lacking tubercle (with medial tubercle in A. borkenti), the metasoma with bluish metallic luster (metasomal integument black in A. borkenti and A. takensis), the S1 black (more or less reddish in A. borkenti and A. takensis), the T2 length 0.88× its width (subequal in A. borkenti), the T2 disc depressed medially (flattened in A. borkenti and A. takensis), the T2 spot small elongate (medium-sized in A. borkenti; large ovate in A. takensis), the pygidial plate finely longitudinally rugose (coarsely rugose in A. takensis), and the lateral margins of the pygidial plate carinate on the posterior half (carinate throughout in A. borkenti and A. takensis). This species was collected from a primary lowland forest during a field survey by Kazuhiko Konishi, probably by sweeping bushes (K. Konishi personal communication), as a part of Japan-Malaysia joint research project. The collecting site was described by Maetô et al. (1999).

This new species is most similar to A. naturalis sp. nov. as discussed above. The holotype of this species was collected in a yellow pan trap together with males of Odontomutilla Ashmead, 1899 (Mutillinae: Mutillini) and Krombeinidia Lelej, 1996 (Mutillinae: Trogaspidiini), and females of Hemutilla Lelej, Tu & Chen, 2014 (Sphaeropthalminae), Bischoffitilla Lelej, 2002 (Myrmillinae), Mickelomyrme Lelej, 1995, and Smicromyrme (Mutillinae: Smicromyrmini). However, no potential male was found.

With special gratitude to Frederique Bakker, this species is named for the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden, the Netherlands. They have graciously facilitated the study of roughly 10,000 mutillid specimens from around the World by the authors. Remarks. This new species is similar to A. yotoi sp. nov. by having the mandible wide and the T2 disc broadly depressed, but differs from that species by having the antenna and legs darker and the propodeum with distinct longitudinal carina. Andreimyrme naturalis sp. nov. has a small sharp tubercle in the scutellar area, at the anterior edge of the longitudinal propodeal carina, which resembles a small scale.

Remarks. This new species is similar to A. matsumotoi sp. nov. and A. substriolata by having the combination of the mandible wide, F1 black, the T2 spot elongate, the T3 with a pale setal band, and the pygidial plate finely longitudinally rugose, but differs by having the mandible apically oblique (vertical in A. matsumotoi and A. substriolata), the humeral carina lamellately projecting (weakly developed in A. matsumotoi and A. substriolata), the T2 disc narrowly depressed medially (flattened in A. matsumotoi and A. substriolata), the T2 punctures large confluent (small confluent in A. substriolata), the S2 punctures evenly distributed and separated by approximate puncture diameter (S2 punctures postero-laterally denser in A. matsumotoi; S2 punctures separated by more than 1.5�� puncture diameter in A. substriolata), and the lateral margins of pygidial plate subparallel (convergent anteriorly in A. matsumotoi). By having the mandible apically oblique, A. laminatihumeralis sp. nov. is similar to A. neaera, A. paniya, and A. sarawakensis, but this new species differs from these by having the mandible wider, the T2 coarsely punctate, and the T3 with a pale setal band. Gender. Feminine (Lelej & Brothers 2008). Sex association. The possible female of the type species was associated and identified as Smicromyrme tridentiens Chen, 1957 (= A. substriolata (Chen, 1957)) by Lelej (1995b: 7). Based on the overlapping distribution and the shared mandibular shape, we assume A. rong sp. nov. to be the potential female of A. long. Distribution. Predominantly from the Oriental Region, but two species penetrate to Palaearctic China and A. pakistanensis is known from Pakistan (Islamabad) westward of India. Remarks. Females of Andreimyrme are recognized by having the mandible tridentate or broadly expanded, the prementum with a rounded posterior tubercle, and the scutellar scale obliterated, while those of other smicromyrmine genera have the mandible edentate or bidentate, the prementum unarmed, and the scutellar scale spinulose, naillike, or transverse, except Promecilla Andr��, 1902 which lacks developed scutellar scale. Originally, female Andreimyrme were defined by having the mandible wide and robust (Fig. 45), like A. substriolata which was the first female assigned to this genus. Smicromyrme borkenti Williams, 2019 was described in Williams et al. (2019b) from southern Thailand. This species is similar to Andreimyrme by having the mandible tridentate, the scutellar scale obliterated, and the pygidial plate sub-trapezoidal, laterally delimited by carinae, but was differentiated from it by having the mandible slender, tapering to apex (Fig. 37). Considering the large variability of Smicromyrme, S. borkenti was described in that genus. In this study, however, we found that all Andreimyrme females with the wide mandible and S. borkenti share the prementum with posterior rounded tubercle. The specific name matsumotoi is dedicated to the type collector Rikio Matsumoto. Remarks. This new species is superficially similar to A. substriolata, and these two species are separated by minor morphological differences, namely the density of S2 punctures and the shape of pygidial plate. Andreimyrme matsumotoi is, however, more than 1.2 times larger than A. substriolata, suggesting utilization of larger hosts because the body size of mutillids correlates to that of the hosts (Mickel 1924; Ferguson 1962). Additional specimens will enable formal analyses to test this hypothesis.

The specific name silvorientalis is from a Latin singular feminine noun silva, meaning “forest”, and a Latin singular feminine adjective orientalis, meaning “eastern”, a compound Latin adjective in the nominative case, indicating that this new species is the easternmost record of Andreimyrme in Southeast Asia, with an additional reference to its similarity to the Neotropical genus Silvorientilla Williams & Cambra, 2019 in the mandibular shape (Williams et al. 2019a). Remarks. This new species is recognized in Andreimyrme by having the dorsal and middle subapical mandibular teeth and the humeral carina obliterated (more or less developed in others). This species was collected by Keizo Takasuka during a field survey in Sulawesi. The collecting site was described by Takasuka et al. (2011).

The specific name takensis is a Latin singular feminine adjective in the nominative case and derived from Tak, the Thai province where the type locality of this new species is located. Remarks. This new species is similar to A. auricoma sp. nov. and A. borkenti as discussed above. Given the wide distribution of A. rong sp. nov. in northern Thailand, A. takensis sp. nov. may share the overlapping geographical range with this species. These two species are potentially confusing because of the overall body color, specifically the scape orange, the legs basally yellowish red, and the T2 with a ovate setal spot. However, A. takensis differs from A. rong by having the mandible slender with two acute subapical teeth (mandible wide and apically dilated in A. rong).

The specific name of this species was originally spelled as substriolata, but should be masculine since the gender of Smicromyrme was subsequently regarded as masculine following Article 30.2.4 of ICZN (1999) (Lelej & Brothers 2008). A redescription of A. substriolata was provided by Okayasu (2020). Taiwanese specimens differ from those of continental Asia and Sumatra by their entirely black legs and larger T2 spot (Fig. 14). Three females from Amami-��shima Island are identical to the continental form, while a single female from Okinawa-jima Island is intermediate, with entirely black legs, and the T2 spot small (Fig. 15). Therefore, it is premature to describe the Taiwanese population as a separate species. The specific name ursasolaris is from a Latin singular feminine noun ursa, meaning ���female bear���, and a Latin singular feminine adjective solaris, meaning ���of the sun���, a compound Latin adjective in the nominative case. This species is named in honor of the Sun Bear, Helarctos malayanus (Raffles, 1821), a charismatic mammal species native to Southeast Asia, including Sumatra. Remarks. Like the Bornean species, A. neaera and A. sarawakensis, this new species has the metasoma metallic blue and the mandible wide, but it can be recognized by having a silvery setal band on T3 (T3 setae blackish in A. neaera and A. sarawakensis). Andreimyrme neaera, A. paniya, and A. sarawakensis are recognized within Andreimyrme by lacking a pale setal band on T3 and having the pygidial plate smooth, but this species differs from the latter two by having the head black (ventrally reddish in A. paniya), the frons, vertex, and gena with large confluent punctures (with small sparse punctures in A. sarawakensis), the mesosoma entirely red (posterior propodeal face with black spot in A. paniya), the metasoma metallic blue (dark red in A. paniya), the T2 spot present (absent in A. paniya and A. sarawakensis), and the T2 posterior band wide and complete (narrow and interrupted in A. paniya).
