(1) Background: To assess time trends in the incidence and in-hospital outcomes of urinary tract infection (UTI) in older people (≥65 years) in Spain (2001–2018) according to sex and to identify the factors independently associated with in-hospital mortality (IHM). (2) Methods: Using the Spanish National Hospital Database, we analyzed comorbidity, procedures, diagnosis, isolated microorganisms, and outcomes. (3) Results: We included 583,693 admissions (56.76% women). In both sexes, the incidence increased with age over time (p < 0.001). In men and women, the highest IHM was found among the oldest patients (>84 years) with values of 9.16% and 8.6%, respectively. The prevalence of bacteremia increased from 4.61% to 4.98% from 2001 to 2018 (p < 0.001) and sepsis decreased from 3.16% to 1.69% (p < 0.001). The risk of dying increased with age (>84 years) (OR 3.63; 95% CI 3.5–3.78) and with almost all comorbidities. Urinary catheter was a risk factor for women (OR 1.1; 95% CI 1.02–1.18) and protective for men (OR 0.71; 95% CI 0.66–0.76). Isolation of Staphylococcus aureus increased the risk of IHM by 40% among men (OR 1.4; 95% CI 1.28–1.53). After adjusting for confounders, IHM decreased over time. (4) Conclusions: The incidence of UTIs was higher in older patients and increased over time; however, IHM decreased during the same period. The pandemic of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has provoked a second pandemic, the “long-haulers”, i.e., individuals presenting with post-COVID symptoms. We propose that to determine the presence of post-COVID symptoms, symptoms should appear after the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection; however, this situation has some problems due to the fact that not all people infected by SARS-CoV-2 receive such diagnosis. Based on relapsing/remitting nature of post-COVID symptoms, the following integrative classification is proposed: potentially infection related-symptoms (up to 4–5 weeks), acute post-COVID symptoms (from week 5 to week 12), long post-COVID symptoms (from week 12 to week 24), and persistent post-COVID symptoms (lasting more than 24 weeks). The most important topic is to establish the time reference points. The classification also integrates predisposing intrinsic and extrinsic factors and hospitalization data which could promote post-COVID symptoms. Background Single studies support the presence of several post-COVID-19 symptoms; however, no meta-analysis differentiating hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients has been published to date. This meta-analysis analyses the prevalence of post-COVID-19 symptoms in hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients recovered from COVID-19. Methods: MEDLINE, CINAHL, PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases, as well as medRxiv and bioRxiv preprint servers were searched up to March 15, 2021. Peer-reviewed studies or preprints reporting data on post-COVID-19 symptoms collected by personal, telephonic or electronic interview were included. Methodological quality of the studies was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. We used a random-effects models for meta-analytical pooled prevalence of each post-COVID-19 symptom, and I² statistics for heterogeneity. Data synthesis was categorized at 30, 60, and ≥90 days after. Results: From 15,577 studies identified, 29 peer-reviewed studies and 4 preprints met inclusion criteria. The sample included 15,244 hospitalized and 9011 non-hospitalized patients. The methodological quality of most studies was fair. The results showed that 63.2, 71.9 and 45.9% of the sample exhibited ≥one post-COVID-19 symptom at 30, 60, or ≥90days after onset/hospitalization. Fatigue and dyspnea were the most prevalent symptoms with a pooled prevalence ranging from 35 to 60% depending on the follow-up. Other post-COVID-19 symptoms included cough (20–25%), anosmia (10–20%), ageusia (15–20%) or joint pain (15–20%). Time trend analysis revealed a decreased prevalence 30days after with an increase after 60days. Conclusion: This meta-analysis shows that post-COVID-19 symptoms are present in more than 60% of patients infected by SARS-CoV‑2. [EN] The COVID-19 pandemic forced a sudden adaptation of higher education to a complex and changing reality, by incorporating new technologies for teaching. The Health Sciences degrees have adapted their curriculum to this new reality, where the teaching and learning process has been modified by incorporating new technologies, distance learning and limitation of clinical practices in health centers. It is necessary to analyze dimensions such as the teaching and learning process, the modification of the material used, the integration of theoretical and practical content, and the participation of students in the development of educational material. The objective of this work is to present 6 qualitative research proposals that help to understand the adaptation of professors and students to this new reality, together with the teaching and learning process and the incorporation of new tools and teaching methods (e-learning) during the pandemic., [ES] La educación superior ha precisado adaptarse a una nueva realidad compleja debido a la pandemia del COVID-19. Esto ha obligado incorporar nuevas tecnologías para la enseñanza superior. Como consecuencia, las titulaciones universitarias, como las de las ciencias de la salud, han ido realizando modificaciones y adaptándose incorporando nuevas tecnologías y metodología de enseñanza. Pero existen dimensiones como las prácticas clínicas en centros sanitarios que siguen planteando retos dentro del proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje en estas titulaciones. Es preciso analizar en Ciencias de la Salud, dimensiones como el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje, la modificación del material docente utilizado, la integración de los contenidos teóricos y prácticos, y la participación de los estudiantes en el desarrollo de material docente. El objetivo de esta comunicación es presentar 6 propuestas de investigación cualitativa, que ayuden a desarrollar y elaborar estudios que analicen y profundicen en la perspectiva de los profesores y estudiantes en esta nueva realidad, junto al proceso de enseñanza e incorporación de métodos de enseñanza (e-learning) durante la pandemia.

Funding: This study received the 16th National Nursing Valdecilla Research Award, which funds social work in Caja Cantabria (Spain)., The complexity of the diagnosis and treatment of cancer means that it is often associated with anxiety symptoms. The aim of our study was to further our understanding of the oncological process and the presence of anxiety symptoms, from a gender perspective. A cross-sectional study was performed, examining 402 medical records obtained by simple random sampling of oncology patients at a hospital in northern Spain from July 2012 to July 2014. Data collection took place between February and May 2015. Psychiatric and sociodemographic variables were gathered, as well as pain variables and information regarding the oncological process. The data analysis included a descriptive univariate analysis and a bivariate analysis, and a logistic regression model was performed. Our results suggest that women with cancer suffer more anxiety symptoms than men with cancer. Women with anxiety symptoms represented 76.5% of all patients with anxiety. The OR of suffering anxiety symptoms between women and men was 2.43 (95% CI 1.05-5.63) (p = 0.04). A greater incidence of anxiety symptoms was found in patients with cancer pain and oncological treatment with biological therapy. Our results suggest that the gender perspective is necessary in the management of mental health in patients with cancer. Nonetheless, further studies are necessary to confirm our findings.

Aim: to analyze the performance of nursing professionals in the organ donation process. Design: an explanatory sequential mixed design with integrated integration of the results. Methodology: it is structured in two phases. Phase I: quantitative methodology, a descriptive observational study will be carried out with the objective of understanding and improving the attitudes of the ICU nurses towards organ donation and transplantation, using the PCID-DTO-RIOS questionnaire, in the six Transplant public hospitals of the Madrid State. Phase II: qualitative methodology, with a phenomenological framing, through semi-structured interviews in two sub-phases: the first one aims to know the experience of the donor's relatives during the donation process and the second the experience of the transplant nursing coordinators in the process of organ donation. The speeches will be recorded, transcribed verbatim and analyzed following the technique of Colaizzi. Social relevance: The demand for transplants faces a decrease in the incidence of brain death in Spain and an increase in rejections to organ donation with a family rejection rate of 19.9%. Nurses act as generators of social opinion and perceptions of unfavorable attitudes towards organ donation can create distrust in the families of potential donors. In addition, nurses must actively participate in structural, welfare and political changes to improve the donation rate., Objetivo: analizar el desempeño de los profesionales de enfermería en el proceso de donación de órganos. Diseño: un diseño mixto secuencial explicativo con integración integrada de los resultados. Metodología: está estructurada en dos fases. Fase I: metodología cuantitativa, se llevará a cabo un estudio observacional descriptivo con el objetivo de comprender y mejorar las actitudes de las enfermeras de la UCI hacia la donación de órganos y el trasplante, mediante el cuestionario PCID-DTO-RIOS, en los seis hospitales públicos trasplantadores de la Comunidad de Madrid. Fase II: metodología cualitativa, con un encuadre fenomenológico, a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas en dos subfases: la primera tiene como objetivo conocer la experiencia de los familiares del donante durante el proceso de donación y la segundo la experiencia de los coordinadores de enfermería de trasplantes en el proceso de donación de órganos. Los discursos serán grabados, transcritos los verbatim y analizados siguiendo la técnica de Colaizzi. Relevancia social: La demanda de trasplantes se enfrenta a una disminución en la incidencia de muerte cerebral en España y a un aumento en los rechazos a la donación de órganos con una tasa de rechazos familiares del 19,9%. Las enfermeras actúan como generadoras de la opinión social y las percepciones de actitudes desfavorables hacia la donación de órganos pueden crear desconfianza en las familias de los posibles donantes. Además, las enfermeras deben participar activamente en los cambios estructurales, de bienestar y políticos para mejorar la tasa de donación.
