The impact of the level of accuracy of information provided to travellers is investigated using a discret-choice modelling approach in an experimental setting

The note presents a web-based tool aimed at observing travellers’ behaviours in simulated ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) contexts. It allows for surveying samples of travellers by adopting SP (stated Preferences) approaches. The tool has been developed with reference to cases when ATIS (Advanced Traveller Information Systems) have to be analysed; however, it can be also employed in different circumstances, even when ATIS or ITS are not the focus of the analyses. The tool is implemented as a travel simulator.

This paper focuses on the analysis of air quality in the City of Naples (Campania Region-Italy). The research aim is to make an introduction to the preliminary analysis of the particles less than 10 mm in diameter (PM10) by focusing on the correlation between the PM10 and the climatic variables (wind, temperature, mm and days of rain) and between the PM10 and the traffic. Moreover the research focuses also on the effect of the adopted traffic regulation strategies by the municipality in the city of Naples. In order to be able to carried out, in future research, a model for the PM10 prediction, the main endogenous variables to involve in the model are identified. Every correlation is also studied over time.

The pubblication presents the results of a work oriented to show the feasibility of a learning-machine approach able to overcame the scarce human-likeness of current Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) systems. A methodology is proposed which allow for integrating safety-consideration with driving-behaviour aspects in the speed-control stategy of ACCs. The obtained results show that the proposed approach is fully feasible.

The publication presents the results of a complex work aimed to the specification of a disaggregated model able to simulate the relationship betwee the travellers' compliance with information and the information accuracy in Advanced Travellers Information contexts. An SP (Stated Preference) has been carried out for the calibration of the analytical framework and two different approaches (holding and switching) have been proposed and calibrated for both cases of descriptive and prescriptive Advanced Traveller Information Systems. The analytical structure of the modelling approaches is based on the Discrete Choice Theory and a mixed-logit formulation is specified and calibrated.

La pubblicazione presenta i risultati della specificazione e calibrazione mediante indagini sulle preferenze dichiarate di un modello disaggregato capace di simulare gli effetti dell'inaccuratezza sulla compliance nei riguardi dell'informazione fornita.

The publication presents the results of a theoretical analysis oriented to the assesment of the effect of the elastic-compliance with information accuracy hypothesys. The pubblication shows that some widely accepted conjectures should be revised under the elasti-compliance hypothesys; in particular, the Advanced Traveller Information Systems are shown to be not suitable in order to induce system-optimum traffic patterns in traffic network. Similarly, the widely diffuse conjecture that ATIS could lead to traffic network instability is controverted for cases in which the information is accurate and the elasticity hypothesys considered.

Experiments were performed to examine the effect of salt stress and GA3-priming on initial growth of two rapeseed cultivars, one tolerant and one sensitive to salt stress during germination. Seedlings from seeds germinated in salty (as NaCl) and non salty substrate were grown in salty and non salty hydroponics. Salt stress reduced seedling growth of the two genotypes consistently with their degree of stress tolerance during germination. Seedlings from stress sensitive seeds germinated under high salinity showed a rapid recover of growth in non stressing conditions. The effect of salt stress on shoot/root ratio was controversial, increased for lab and decreased for greenhouse experiments, probably due to different timing of stress application and additional experimental conditions. Salt stress decreased leaf photosynthesis and increased thermal dissipation in sensitive seedlings (decrease of ΦPSII and qP, increase of NPQ). The GA3-priming did not affect seedling growth of the stress sensitive cultivar subjected to stress, while it greatly improved the performance of the stress tolerant cultivar. Os experimentos foram realizados para examinar o efeito de sal e o período de condicionamento osmótico do GA3 sobre o crescimento inicial de duas cultivares de colza, sendo uma tolerante e uma sensível ao estresse salino durante a germinação. As mudas provenientes de sementes germinadas em meio salino (como NaCl) e não salgado foram cultivadas em hidroponia na presença ou ausência de salinidade. O estresse salino reduziu o crescimento das plântulas dos dois genótipos de forma consistente com o seu grau de tolerância ao estresse durante a germinação. As mudas provenientes de sementes sensíveis germinadas sob alta salinidade mostrou uma recuperação rápida do crescimento em condições não estressantes. O efeito do estresse salino sobre relação parte aérea / raiz foi controverso, aumentando em condições laboratoriais e diminuindo para os experimentos em casa de vegetação, provavelmente devido a épocas de estresse e outras condições experimentais. O estresse salino reduziu a fotossíntese foliar e aumentou a dissipação térmica em mudas sensíveis (queda de ΦPSII e qP, aumento do NPQ). O condicionamento osmótico do GA3 não afetou o crescimento das plântulas da cultivar sensível estresse submetido ao estresse, ao mesmo tempo que melhorou significativamente o desempenho da cultivar tolerante estresse.
