105. <Research Report>A Variety of Dynamics in Organic Crystals Having Strong Electron-Lattice Interaction

Abstract

We studied photoinduced dynamics in an organic crystal (EDO-TTF)[2]PF[6], which has strong electron-electron and electron-lattice interactions, by applying four types of ultrafast techniques. Using 10 fs reflectivity change measurement, we found that a new state emerges over 40 fs. The optical conductivity spectrum at 100 fs from mid-infrared to visible light revealed this state to be a photoinduced phase which has never seen in thermal equilibrium. The crystal and molecular structural changes over I00 ps were studied using picosecond infrared vibrational spectroscopy and femtosecond electron diffraction and it is figured out that molecular deformation is much slower than its translation.

Abstract

A semiconductor‐metal‐complex hybrid photocatalyst was previously reported for CO2 reduction; this photocatalyst is composed of nitrogen‐doped Ta2O5 as a semiconductor photosensitizer and a Ru complex as a CO2 reduction catalyst, operating under visible light (>400 nm), with high selectivity for HCOOH formation of more than 75 %. The electron transfer from a photoactive semiconductor to the metal‐complex catalyst is a key process for photocatalytic CO2 reduction with hybrid photocatalysts. Herein, the excited‐state dynamics of several hybrid photocatalysts are described by using time‐resolved emission and infrared absorption spectroscopies to understand the mechanism of electron transfer from a semiconductor to the metal‐complex catalyst. The results show that electron transfer from the semiconductor to the metal‐complex catalyst does not occur directly upon photoexcitation, but that the photoexcited electron transfers to a new excited state. On the basis of the present results and previous reports, it is suggested that the excited state is a charge‐transfer state located between shallow defects of the semiconductor and the metal‐complex catalyst. Abstract

A male crossbred calf developed a limp and pain upon deep pressure on the right hind limb and the right forelimb. The radiographic findings of affected limbs and pathological findings of bone biopsy were similar to those observed in canine panosteitis. This is the first case of suspected panosteitis reported in cattle.
