Iron malnutrition anemia is a micronutrient problem that often occurs throughout the world. The prevalence of nutritional anemia in the teenagers age group nationally is 18.4%. The government has a program in an effort to prevent anemia in adolescents, which is to provide one grain of iron supplements every week throughout the year for female teenagers at school. The administration was carried out for 16 weeks with details of once a week and for 10 days of menstruation, so that the total given was 52 tablets. Examine the characteristics of the sample (age, family socioeconomic, pocket money, menstrual history, nutritional status and physical activity), knowledge about anemia, attitudes, compliance, family support and teacher support in interventions with Fe supplementation and IEC about anemia against hemoglobin levels for female teenagers in State Senior High School in the District of Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, Indonesia. This research is a Quasi Experimental with a sample of 126 female teenagers. The difference in the mean hemoglobin level of the intervention group before and after the intervention showed a significant difference in the average hemoglobin level between the three groups at pretest. The result of the multi regression analysis shows that the dominant variable is knowledge.

Background: Adolescence is the period of rapid growth with physical & physiological development andprofound biological, emotional, social, and cognitive changes in human beings. Nutritional anemia is thecommon & worldwide public health problem among adolescent girls and overall prevalence of nutritionalanemia varies from 40-90%. It may produce adverse effects like increased risk of morbidity and mortalityand affects adolescent’s future health.Objective: This study aimed to assess the awareness on nutritional anemia and its prevention amongadolescent girls.Method: A non experimental descriptive design was adopted to assess awareness on nutritional anemia andits prevention among adolescent girls at Keezhakasakudi, Karaikal. A total of 60 adolescent girls between10-15 years of age were selected by convenience sampling technique. Data was collected by using selfstructured interview schedule. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analysis the gathereddata.Results: The study results reported that the majority 63% (38) of adolescent girls had inadequate awareness,27% (16) had moderately adequate awareness and only 10% (6) had adequate awareness on nutritionalanemia and its prevention. The overall mean was 9.6 with standard deviation±2.49. The results of thepresent study also revealed that there was statistically significant association between level of awareness onnutritional anemia with age of the adolescent girls.Conclusion: Nutritional anemia as the major non communicable disease and contributing negative impacton health, it necessitates the need to organize counseling programs to adolescent girls in schools and collegeswith much emphasis on impact of nutritional anemia on future health.

Introduction: -Growth of all living organism depends on nutrition .In human being growth period is said tobe from conception to adolescence and after that nutrition is required for maintenance of body. Lot of workhas been done regarding role of nutrition during pregnancy, infancy and childhood but hardly any attentionis paid to the group called adolescence i.e. period between childhood and adulthood. The most prevalentnutritional condition is anaemia worldwide. Prevalence in India of anemia among young girls were 56 % andthis amount to an average 64 million girls at any point in time.Aim: To determine the effectiveness of planned teaching on knowledge regarding prevention of nutritionalanemia among adolescence.Materials and Methods: A pre-experimental pre-test, post-test research design was used to conduct thisstudy. The setting was selected in the Kasturba Vidya Mandir Sewagram,Wardha (Maharashtra) after getting ethical permission. Purposive sampling was the sampling method used tocollect data from 9th standard students on the basis of structured knowledge questionnaire. After collectingpre-test data, planned teaching was given for intervention regarding prevention of nutritional anemia toadolescencents. Seven days were provided to the samples for utilizing planned teaching which was organizedfor 45-50 minutes. Post-test information was gathered after seven days from the day of intervention. Thedata were described by frequency, percentage and t-test was used to describe the difference between pre-testand post-test knowledge score. Chi-square test was also used to find out the association between knowledgeof 9th standard students regarding prevention of nutritional anaemia and selected demographic variables.Results: There was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test knowledge scores interpreted thatplanned teaching on knowledge regarding prevention of nutritional anaemia among adolescencents wereeffective. Mean value of pretest was 10.10 and posttest was 19.08and standard deviation values of pretestwas ±2.27and posttest was ±2.21. The calculated t-value was 19.66and p-value was 0.000.Conclusion: - The study was effective because the post-test knowledge score improved than the pre-testknowledge score. So the planned teaching has proved to improve 9th standard students knowledge regardingprevention of nutritional anaemia.

Deep learning algorithms are an important part of disease prediction and diagnosis by analyzing health data. If not diagnosed and treated early, symptoms of nutritional anemia can be seen as a common laboratory finding of dyspnea, dizziness, lack of concentration, pale skin color, and life-threatening diseases. In the literature, several data mining techniques have been used for the prediction of nutritional anemia, especially, for the iron deficiency anemia. However, each algorithm does not perform well for every data, and therefore new techniques need to be developed. It is because the characteristics of each dataset are different and their dataset sizes, that is, the number of records and the number of parameters are different. In this study, we propose two hybrid models using genetic algorithm (GA) and deep learning algorithms of Stacked Autoencoder (SAE) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for the prediction of HGB-anemia, nutritional anemia, (iron deficiency anemia, B12 deficiency anemia, and folate deficiency anemia), and patients without anemia. In the proposed GA-SAE and GA-CNN models, the hyperparameters of SAE and CNN algorithms are optimized using GA since it is not easy to determine suitable values of deep learning algorithms. Accuracy, F-score, precision, and sensitivity criteria were used to evaluate the prediction and classification performances of the proposed algorithms. As a result of the experimental evaluations using the dataset, the performance of the proposed GA-CNN algorithm whose layers trained separately and sequentially was found to be better than the performance of the studies proposed in the literature, by a 98.50% accuracy.

Objectives Diabetes is prevalent in the Indian population, to the extent that the diabetes burden matches that of nutritional anemia. We aimed to determine the effects of iron and vitamin B12 deficiency anemia on glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) concentrations in individuals without diabetes. Material and methods The study comprises 100 patients with iron deficiency anemia, 100 with vitamin B12 deficiency anemia, and 100 healthy volunteers as a control group. Each of the first two groups was subdivided into two groups depending on the severity of anemia based on Hb levels. We treated with iron replenishment in the iron deficiency group and B12 replenishment in the B12 deficiency group for three months. We noted HbA1c levels before and after the therapy. Data were entered into the SPSS package. For comparing pre and post-therapy levels, we used the Paired 't' test. Results The mean HbA1c before treatment were 6.1% ± 0.23% and 5.5% ± 0.24%, and the values after treatment were 5.1% ± 0.14% and 4.6% ± 0.2% in severe iron deficiency anemia subgroup and mild to moderate subgroup, respectively. The mean HbA1c in the iron-deficiency anemia control group was 5.2% ± 0.2%. The mean HbA1c levels before treatment were 5.9% ± 0.3% and 5.6% ± 0.19%, and after treatment were 5.0% ± 0.15% and 4.9% ± 0.16% in severe and mild to moderate B12 deficiency anemia, respectively. The mean HbA1c in the vitamin B12 deficiency anemia control group was 5.1% ± 0.2%. Conclusion HbA1c in both types of anemia subjects showed a significant decrease with appropriate therapy. Physicians should consider rechecking patient haemoglobin values and correcting a patient's anemia before determining the patient's glycemic status using HbA1c to avoid misinterpretation of their diabetes status.

Background: Nutritional anemia due to iron deficiency is the most common cause of anemia in India. The average diet in India is low in iron and mostly of vegetable origin. This can be improved by increasing awareness of foodstuffs that are rich in iron and ensuring their availability. Objective: The objective of the study was to assess the quality of information available on iron-rich foods and to assess their production and consumption in India. Methods: This was a review of common textbooks for medical, nursing, and home science students; related policy and program documents; and government publications on production and consumption of various foodstuffs in India. Results: Details of specific foods that are rich in iron have not been provided. Instead, food groups such as pulses, cereals, nuts, and green leafy vegetables (GLVs) have been mentioned that are good sources of non-heme iron. This is in spite of the fact that all the foodstuffs in these groups are not uniformly iron rich. Among cereals and pulses, rice and red gram dal (arhar) are the most commonly produced and consumed, though they have the lowest iron content. Spinach and mustard leaves believed to be iron rich and commonly consumed are among those GLVs having lowest iron content. Conclusion: Details of 5–10 foodstuffs which have the highest iron content within each food group should be available in relevant books and documents meant for education, production, and consumption data.

Nutritional anemias in children are important for the clinician to be able to recognize, diagnosis, and treat. Iron deficiency is not only the most common nutritional anemia but also the most common cause of anemia in infancy and childhood. Iron deficiency anemia has important health ramifications including effects on neurodevelopment. Dietary modifications can prevent iron deficiency, and if iron deficiency develops, simple interventions help prevent cognitive detriments. Given the common prevalence of this disease and its impact on neurodevelopment, it is imperative that primary care physicians recognize the condition early and initiate treatment.

In the elderly with cytopenia, the diagnosis of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) may be missed. Cytokine levels contribute to the pathology of MDS. Hence, the objectives were to evaluate cytogenetic profile as a prognostic indicator in risk stratification and cytokine levels as a screening tool in patients with cytopenia for diagnosis. Over 2 years (2016–2018), 150 elderly patients were screened. MDS diagnosis was confirmed by morphology. Interleukin-2 (IL-2) and IL-6 levels were assessed in 50 patients, and karyotyping was performed in 20 confirmed cases of MDS. Age-matched healthy controls were used for comparison of cytokine levels. Among 150 patients, 88.6% had anemia, including nutritional anemia (51.2%). MDS diagnosis was confirmed in 35 patients. In 15 patients, unexplained cytopenia (UC) was present. Karyotyping in 20 MDS patients was normal in 15 (75%) patients and revealed a complex karyotype in four (20%) patients and double chromosomal abnormality in one (5%) patient. The Revised International Prognostic Scoring System (IPSS-R) scored 91% in the low-risk group and 9% (n = 3) in the high-risk group; the latter three developed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and two of them had a 7q deletion. Among the 15 cases of UC, one patient died from refractory anemia. No significant difference in levels of IL-2 and IL-6 were found between MDS and UC patients when compared with healthy controls, as well as between different risk groups and karyotypes. A significant difference in IL-2 levels was found in MDS patients with disease progression and with stable disease. On the basis of the findings, it is suggested that IL-2 levels will help in predicting disease progression.

Giriş: Anemi düşük kan hemoglobin konsantrasyonu olarak tanımlanır ve Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (WHO) tarafından küresel anemi prevalansı % 24.8 kadar yüksek bir oranda bildirilmektedir. Günümüzde ise sağlık sistemleri artan mülteci nüfusuyla ve bunların karşılaşacağı sağlık problemleri ile karşı karşıyadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, göçmen ve mülteci nüfusa hizmet eden hastanemize başvuran çocuk hastalardaki anemi varlığını tesbit etmektir. Yöntem: Çalışma geriye dönük olarak 2012-2018 yıllarını kapsayacak şekilde herhangi bir nedenle Tepecik Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Çocuk Kliniklerine başvuran 0-18 yaş arası göçmen ve mülteci hastanın değerlendirilmesi yapıldı. Herhangi bir nedenle hastaneye giriş yapan ve hematolojik parametreleri kodlanan hastalar çalışmaya dahil edildi. Bulgular: Toplam 2234 (%46.2) kız olmak üzere 4840 olguya ulaşıldı. Olguların 4793 (%99,0)’ü Suriyeli idi. Ortalama başvuru yaşları 47, 67 ± 57,79 (0-226) ay bulundu. Ortalama Hb değeri 10, 8 ± 1,5, ortalama Hct 32,8 ± 4,3, ortalama MCV 75,9 ± 9,6 ve ortalama RDW 14,9 ± 2,5 saptandı. Ortalama demir değeri 46,41 ± 36,6, demir bağlama kapasitesi (DBK) 379, 52 ± 75,98, transferrin satürasyonu 11,95 ± 9,7 ortalama ferritin değeri ise 94,5 ± 452 olarak hesaplandı. Hb değeri 10 ve altında olan toplam 331 (%6,8), 8 ve altında olan ise 83 ( %1,71) olgu vardı. MCV değeri yaşa göre alt sınırda olan olguların demir eksikliği parametrelerini değerlendirmek amaçlı Menzter, Shine& Lal ve England indeksleri hesaplandı. MCV alt sınırda olup Menzter indeksi >13 olan olgular toplam 1525 idi (714 (%46,8) kız). Bunlarda MCV ile DBK arasında (p= 0,033, korelasyon katsayısı -0,124) ve TS arasında (p= 0,000, korelasyon katsayısı 0,232) anlamlı ilişki vardı. MCV alt sınırda olup Shine > 1530 olan toplam 1934 (886 kız) vardı ve MCV ile hiçbir demir parametresi arasında ilişki bulunmadı. England > 0 olan olguların ise sayısı 1277 idi ve sadece MCV ile TS satürasyonu arasında ilişki bulundu (p= 0,001 ve korelasyon katsayısı 0,223)Tartışma: Her ne kadar çalışmamız geriye dönük olsa ve bir çok veri eksiği içerse de anemi oranını bu popuülasyonda saptamış olması açısından dikkat çekicidir.

Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) deficiency and its related hematological and neurological manifestations, of which pernicious and megaloblastic anemia are the most recognized entities, have puzzled the medical community for over a century. These conditions are described in all ages, race and ethnicities, continents, and socioeconomic groups. Among the etiologies identified in vitamin B12 deficiency, nutritional deficiency, including restrictive diets due to access to appropriate food items, food or oral aversion, or personal choice, is recognized in developed and developing countries. Other etiologies include inherited or genetic defect in the metabolism of vitamin B12, immune-mediated, or absorption-related defects. Understanding the pathophysiology of this phenomenon has allowed us to provide the adequate treatment to reverse the changes in the affected systems successfully.

Iron nutritional anemia is anemia caused by iron deficiency in the blood, meaning the concentration of hemoglobin in the blood is less than 11 gr / dl. According to WHO, the incidence of pregnancy anemia ranges between 20% and 89% by setting Hb 11 g% (g / dl). The pregnancy anemia rate occurred 3.8% in the first trimester, 13.6% trimester II, and 24.8% in the third trimester. To know the effectiveness of CAMIL media (iron anemia disc pregnant mother) to behavior of prevention of iron anemia in pregnant mother in work area of ​​Beringin Raya Public Health Center of Bengkulu City. This type of research uses Quasy Experimental Study with Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. The population in this study were pregnant women listed in the Register of Beringin Raya Public Health Center of Bengkulu Year 2018. total samples were 40 respondents.20 respondents of the intervention group and 20 control groups. Data analysis using T-test. The result of the research is the effect of CAMIL on knowledge, attitude and action where the sign value 0.000 0.05. For attitudes on the CAMIL group and the leaflet is the same where the sign value is 0.146> 0.05. Action on the CAMIL group and the same leaflet where the sign value is 0.064> 0.05. Conclusion From the results of this study it can be concluded that health education is important to improve knowledge, attitude, and action, using CAMIL media and leaflets, both media are equally efketif because it is written with the added pictures

Anemia in pregnancy is one of the causes of Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in developing countries. The main causes of maternal death include postpartum haemorrhage and placenta previa from deficiency anemia. In Indonesia, nutritional anemia is one of the main nutritional problems. Some predisposing factors that are thought to be closely related to the incidence of anemia in pregnant women are age, parity and distance of pregnancy. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between age, parity and distance of pregnancy with the incidence of anemia during pregnancy. Samples were all pregnant women who were anemic during the study at the Hanna Kasih Medan Clinic in the January-March 2015 period, which amounted to 70 people. Conclusion there is a correlation between age (p = 0.000), parity (p = 0.000), and pregnancy distance (p = 0.004), with the incidence of anemia during pregnancy at the Hanna Kasih Clinic with the highest frequency is 47.1% mild anemia, age 20- 35 years 52.9%, multi gravida parity 34.3% and gestational distance

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is common in children aged 0-35 months in Lithuania. Nevertheless, there are no studies investigating IDA in this age group. We aimed to identify the major risk factors for disease development focusing on medical history and dietary habits.A prospective case-control study was conducted in a university hospital. The enrolled cohort was divided into three groups: IDA infants (IDA-In; n = 36, aged 3-11 months), IDA children (IDA-Ch; n = 23, aged 12-32 months), and healthy controls (HCs; n = 32, aged 6-34 months).There was a higher number of premature, low birth weight (LBW), and faster gaining weight infants in the IDA-In group. Their diet diversity was lower than IDA-Ch and HC. In contrast, the IDA-Ch group had no signs of impaired iron stores at birth or higher iron need for fast growth; their diet diversity was similar to that of HC, but meat was introduced later as compared with those in the IDA-In and HC groups. Consumption of cow's milk was rather low among all study participants, but consumption of sugar-added products was found to be a new emerging problem. Exclusive breastfeeding did not differ in duration and prevalence; the age for introduction of complementary foods was similar in all groups.Low compliance with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations on breastfeeding and complementary feeding suggests an urgent need for nutritional counseling in early childhood, especially in premature, LBW, and fast gaining weight infants.

Background and Aims: Pancytopenia may be a manifestation of a wide variety of disorders which primarily or secondarily affects the bone marrow. Bone marrow failure syndromes and malignancies are serious and lifethreatening causes, but certain non-malignant conditions such as infection, and nutritional anemia are equally important. The severity of pancytopenia and the underlying pathology determine the implementation of correct management and prognosis. Materials and Methods: This was a prospective study conducted for a period of two years on 134 patients of pancytopenia. Detailed history, thorough clinical examination, complete hemogram, peripheral smear examination, reticulocyte count evaluation and bone marrow aspiration was performed in all cases. In addition, trephine biopsy was done in the same setting wherever indicated. Results: The age ranged from 15 to 75 years with a mean age of 30.9 years. The most common cause of pancytopenia was Megaloblastic anemia (37%) followed by Nutritional anemia (31%), aplastic anemia (9%) and Leukemia (1.75%). Majority (79%) of the patients had hyper cellular bone marrow followed by hypocellular (13%) and normal cellular marrow (8%). Conclusion: Elaborate hematological investigations and bone marrow examination, both, in correlation with clinical findings are vital for the diagnosis of pancytopenia. Bone marrow Aspiration and Trephine biopsy, complement each other in diagnosis of challenging cases.

The data on the prevalence of nutritional anemia among the urban elderly population in India was limited. Hence, the present study was carried out with an aim to assess the prevalence of nutritional anemia and its association with vitamin B12, folate, ferritin and homocystine among the urban elderly population. A community- based cross-sectional study was carried out among 282 urban elderly (≥ 60 years) subjects (186 males and 96 females) in Hyderabad. Fasting blood samples were collected and hemoglobin (Hb) was estimated by cyanmethemoglobin method. Background: Nutritional anemia or anemia due to dietary causes is the most common form, yet, it is the easiest to manage compared to other forms of anemia. Some of the most common nutritional deficiencies are iron, cobalamin, folate, and also other elements like copper. Anemia due to diet is mostly asymptomatic in the initial phase until the stores are depleted, which can take a few months to several years, depending upon the cause. Methodology: We conducted this review using a comprehensive search of MEDLINE, PubMed, and EMBASE fromJanuary 1987 toMarch 2017. The following search terms were used: nutritional anemia, dietary anemia, iron deficiency anemia, cobalamin deficiency, folic acid deficiency anemia, dietary anemia treatment Aim of the work: In this study we aimed at understanding the different types of anemia caused as a result of dietary deficiency. We also briefly studied their presentation, pathophysiology, and treatment. Conclusion: Various causes of anemia, presentations, and complications associated with the different types of nutritional anemia, which is considered the easiest to treat and manage. Most cases are due to an underlying occult disorder rather than simple dietary insufficiency. Diagnosis can be more difficult in some cases, and require thorough history and investigations and integration to reach to an accurate conclusion and consequently treat the underlying cause.

Background: Nutritional anemia particularly iron deficiency anemia comprise a major public health problem in India. Precise diagnosis is necessary for the correct treatment as the multiple coexisting morbid chronic inflammatory conditions seen in these cases gives erroneous biochemical results. Microscopic assessment of bone marrow iron is considered to be the the gold standard. However, the conventional Gale’s method cannot differentiate between the iron deficient cases and functional iron deficiency. This is made possible by the newer intensive method of iron assessment in the present study. Aim: To compare the assessment of iron status by Gale’s and Intensive method on bone marrow aspirate smears in cases of anemia. Materials and Methods: A prospective study of 117 cases of all age groups and both sexes, having haemoglobin < 10mg/dl were included in the study. Bone marrow aspiration was done and iron assessment was done by both the Gale’s and Intensive method. Serum ferritin was also done in 23 out of 117 cases to serve as a control. However, it was not a part of the study. Results: Gale’s method revealed hypoferrimic state in 29.1% cases and normal iron stores in 70.9% cases. Iron deficient status was further reduced to 6.83% cases by the intensive method of iron assessment. Maximum number of cases had functional iron deficiency by the intensive method. Background: Anemia is reported by many studies as an important risk factor for poor locoregional disease control and survival in head and neck carcinoma. We aimed to study the frequency and prognostic effect of low hemoglobin (Hb) level in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) before radiotherapy (RT) and/or chemoradiotherapy (CRT). Material and Methods: We retrospectively studied the charts of 86 patients diagnosed with laryngeal and hypopharyngeal SCC in a university hospital in Cairo, Egypt. Based on the World Health Organization (WHO), anemia was diagnosed in males at Hb levels 12 g/dl in 7/11 (63.6%) patients. Pre-RT/CRT Hb level in male patients was 13 g/dl in 44/75 (58.7%). Tumor sites were larynx in 77 (89.5%) and hypopharynx in 9 (10.5%) patients. Disease stage 3, 4 was common in 59/86 (68.6%) patients. Thirty-six (41.8%) patients had surgery. 13/86 (15.1%) patients received induction chemotherapy, while 31/86 (36.0%) had concomitant chemoradiotherapy. Radiotherapy was given in 65/86 (75.58%) patients. The mean RT dose was 66 Gy. Non-anemic patients had significant higher inci-dence of complete response (CR) to treatment (p = 0.034). 25.8% of male pa-tients with Hb 13 g/dl (p = 0.403). Female patients whether anemic or non-anemic had no recurrence (p = 0.036 and p = 0.403 respectively). The median duration of DFS and OS was 6.52 and 9.33 months respectively. Pretreatment Hb level had statistical significant effect on response to treatment and overall survival, but not disease free survival. Conclusion: Nutritional anemia is common in developing countries. Our results support the positive prognostic effect of Hb level > 12 g/dl and >13 g/dl before radiation therapy and/or chemoradiotherapy on response to treatment and overall survival but not the disease free survival.

Background: Bone marrow aspiration (BMA) cytology is a common and cheap technique which reveals the marrow cellularity, its structure, and stages of differentiation of different blood cells. Objectives: The objectives of the study were to study the etiology and the common presentation in patients undergoing BMA in pediatric age group with special focus on the adolescent females. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in the Department of Pediatrics and Pathology of a Medical College Hospital of Bihar, India. The study was done from May 1, 2018, to April 31, 2019, on 259 cases. BMA was carried out and relevant clinical history, physical examination, and laboratory data were retrieved. Results: Out of 259 cases, 1 case was excluded from the final analysis due to inadequate marrow. Male-to-female ratio was 1.16:1. The most common indication was unexplained anemia (46.5%) and pancytopenia (26.7%). The most common etiological diagnosis was nutritional anemia (27.5%) followed by hypoplastic anemia (22%). Among adolescents (>11–18 years), male:female ratio decreased to 1:1 where nutritional anemia was the most common cause followed by hypoplastic anemia. Conclusion: The common hematological disorders prevailing in our community in pediatric age group are nutritional anemia, hypoplastic anemia, and acute leukemia.

Background: In India, the population in the age of 10-19 years is currently estimated at 253.2 million, the largest ever cohort of young people to make a transition to adulthood. Nutritional anemia is one of most common micronutrient deficiencies in the world. It is most common in pregnant and lactating women, infants, preschool children and adolescent females. Iron deficiency anemia is a problem of serious public health significance. Present study was undertaken to assess the baseline data of prevalence of anemia and its associated factors among adolescent females belonging to rural community in Dakshina Kannada.Methods: A cross sectional study was done among the adolescent female population in rural field practice area of Dakshina Kannada district from July 2012 to June 2013. A pretested semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect data regarding socio demographic profile, health status and nutrition. Haemoglobin estimation was done by Sahli’s method. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software trial version 16.Results: The study comprised of 436 study participants, out of which majority (25.5%) were aged 14 years. The mean age was 14.02±2.57 years. The prevalence of anemia among adolescent girls was 72%. Moderate anemia, mild anemia and severe anemia was 68.5%, 28.3% and 3.2% respectively. Pallor was present among 69.72% of adolescent girls.Conclusions: This study showed high prevalence of anemia among adolescent girls and the major associated factors age, diet, menarche attained and presence of pallor. Hence, there is a need to address the anemia problem of the adolescent population.

Context Prevalence of nutritional anemia among Saudi female and children is evident and has been reflected in different studies, most of researchers conclude that there is a gap in dietary counseling in addition to the poor awareness of community about appropriate dietary habits; this study is trying to assess counseling behavior and training competency of family physician at primary health centers with respect to nutritional anemia. Objective Study objective is to assess general beliefs, practice, and level of training in counseling by family physician. Methodology This is a cross-sectional study design; data collected using self-administered questionnaire provided to the doctor at clinic site. Results The most commonly learned counseling technique in order as follows motivational interviewing (68%), cognitive behavioral therapy (58%), and 15-Minute Hour approach (53%). Conclusion This study confirms the presence of positive counseling beliefs and practices by family physicians; however, the result is also reflects the current reluctant state of family physicians in devoting ample time for nutritional anemia counseling.

The consumption iron tablets for adolescent girls is one indicator of improving community nutrition. Research data in various regions in Indonesia shows the prevalence of anemia in adolescents girls ranges from 32.4% to 61%. The main causes of nutritional anemia in adolescents girls are due to lack of nutrient intake through food, iron loss in adolescents girls with more menstrual patterns and longer periods. Another reason is adolescents girls often maintain their appearance, the desire to stay slim or thin so that they go on a diet and eat less. The purpose of this study was to determine the compliance of iron tablet consumption on the incidence of anemia in adolescents girls. The research design was analytical observation with a cross sectional study approach for 12 weeks.. The number of sample in this study are 104 respondents (total sampling). The results showed that most of the adolescents ages 12-18 years (86.4%), 83 (79.8%) of the adolescents girls were anemia before consumption iron tablets. After consumption iron tablets for 12 weeks and mentoring as many as 69 people (66.3%) were obedient in consuming iron tablets and most of the adolescents girls (81.2%) weren’t anemia after consuming iron tablets for 12 weeks.

Teenager girls are at risk of suffering from iron nutritional anemia. Anemic teenage girls also have less vitamin C intake.
