Study Question: Are blastocyst culture and cryopreservation in ART associated with chromosomal abnormalities in miscarried products of conception (POC)?Summary Answer: Frozen blastocyst transfer in women aged 35 years or older and frozen embryo transfer (ET) (including both cleavage-stage embryo and blastocyst) in women aged <35 years are associated with decreased frequencies of embryonic chromosomal abnormalities in miscarried POC.What Is Known Already: Blastocyst culture and embryo cryopreservation have been previously associated with favorable ART treatment outcomes and widely applied in clinical practice. However, the association between these embryo manipulation procedures and embryonic chromosomal abnormalities has not been evaluated to the best of our knowledge.Study Design, Size, Duration: This retrospective study included a total of 720 patients who underwent IVF/ICSI, and the retained POC were obtained. A single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)-based chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) of all miscarried conceptuses was performed.Participants/materials, Setting, Methods: This study was based on the Clinical Reproductive Medicine Management System/Electronic Medical Record Cohort Database (CCRM/EMRCD) at our center. In total, 720 miscarried POCs were collected from patients undergoing ART (including fresh cleavage-stage ET, fresh blastocyst transfer, frozen cleavage-stage ET and frozen blastocyst transfer), and the incidences and profiles of cytogenetic abnormalities in the miscarried conceptuses were measured via SNP-based CMA.Main Results and the Role Of Chance: The chromosomal abnormality rate in POC varied from 33.7% to 66.7% among the different ET strategies. In the patients aged ≥35 years, frozen blastocyst transfer was significantly associated with a lower incidence of chromosomal aberrations in the POCs (adjusted odds ratio (aOR): 0.171 (95% CI: 0.040-0.738); P = 0.018) than fresh blastocyst transfer. In the patients aged <35 years, frozen ET was significantly associated with a lower incidence of chromosomal aberrations than fresh ET in both cleavage-stage ET cycles and blastocyst transfers cycles (aOR: 0.545 (0.338-0.879), P = 0.013; and aOR: 0.357 (0.175-0.730), P = 0.005, respectively). Trisomy was the most frequent abnormal embryonic karyotype in the different ET strategies, and its frequency significantly differed among strategies (P < 0.05).Limitations, Reasons For Caution: This study was retrospectively designed, and we cannot draw any definite conclusions from our results regarding the adequate safety of embryo cryopreservation in ongoing pregnancy.Wider Implications Of the Findings: To our knowledge, this is the first study assessing the associations of ET strategies with the probability of miscarriage associated with embryonic chromosomal abnormalities. Autosomal dominant hereditary polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is the most common inherited kidney disease that causes end‐stage renal disease and kidney failure. Preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic (PGT‐M) can effectively prevent the transmission of genetic diseases from parents to the offspring before pregnancy. However, PGT‐M currently adopts the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) linkage analysis for embryo's pathogenic gene carrying status and linkage analysis requires proband of the family. Here we report a new PGT‐M strategy using single sperm SNP linkage analysis for male patient with sporadic ADPKD caused by de novo PKD1 mutation. We recruited five couples with male patient with ADPKD caused by de novo PKD1 mutation, and 39 embryos from six PGT‐M cycles were detected. The five couples had at least one embryo that does not carry the PKD1 mutation. Within these five couples, the accuracy of carrier status of embryos was confirmed by amniotic fluid gene detection of two couples and two couples successfully delivered healthy fetuses. Therefore, the new PGT‐M strategy of using single sperm SNP linkage analysis was proved to be feasible and effective for male patient with ADPKD caused by de novo PKD1 mutation. Mechanical nondiscoloring and antistretching photonic crystal (PC) films, especially those with stable structure colors during deformation, have great potential applications in wearable display devices, decoration, and packaging. Here, PC films with antistretching and invariant structural colors during deformation were prepared, by combining Zn2+ coordinated elastic material and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) with polystyrene@silica (PS@SiO2) colloidal crystals. The PC films release energy by forming local fractures at a microscopic level during the straining process but the lattice spacing and effective refractive index of the local array do not change. According to the Bragg law, the structure color remains unchanged. The introduction of HPMC gave the PC films excellent tensile properties, and the maximum tensile strength reached 10 MPa. The synthesis, surface ligand stripping, and infrared optoelectronic device application of NaYF4:Yb,Er–MoS2 nanocomposites are reported. NaYF4:Yb,Er–MoS2 film shows an unusual negative infrared photoresponse after SOCl2/DMF treatment, which exhibits more than two times the photoresponsivity of pure NaYF4:Yb,Er, showing great potential for the development of novel infrared optoelectronic devices. Purpose: Currently, owing to the limitations of high-throughput sequencing depth and the allele dropout caused by the whole-genome amplification, detection of chromosomal variants in embryos with CNVs <5 Mb is unsatisfactory at the single-cell level using only conventional sequencing methods. Therefore, here we aimed to use a strategy of preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic (PGT-M) to compensate for the shortcomings of conventional sequencing methods. The purpose of this study is to report the effectiveness of haplotype linkage analysis by karyomapping for preimplantation diagnosis microdeletion diseases. Methods: Six couples carrying chromosomal microdeletions associated with X-linked ichthyosis were recruited, and all couples entered the PGT process. Multiple displacement amplification (MDA) method was used to amplify the whole-genome DNA of trophectoderm cells. Then karyomapping based on single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) was used for haplotype linkage analysis to detect alleles carrying microdeletions, and CNVs of embryos were identified to determine euploid identity. Amniotic fluid tests were performed in the second trimester to verify the PGT-M results. Results: All couples were tested for chromosomal microdeletions, with deletion fragments ranging in size from 1.60 to 1.73 Mb, and one partner in each couple did not carry the microdeletion. Three couples successfully underwent PGT-M assisted conception and obtained healthy live births. Conclusion: This study shows that haplotype linkage analysis by karyomapping could effectively detect the carrier status of embryos with microdeletions at the single-cell level. TiO2/NaYF4:Yb3+,Er3+ nano-heterostructures are prepared in situ on the TiO2 photoanode of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution (HR)-TEM confirm the formation of TiO2/NaYF4:Yb3+,Er3+ nano-heterostructures. The up-converted fluorescence spectrum of the photoanode containing the nano-heterostructure confirms electron injection from NaYF4:Yb3+,Er3+ to the condution band (CB) of TiO2. When using a photoanode containing the nano-heterostructure in a DSC, the overall efficiency ( η) of the device is 17% higher than that of a device without the up-conversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) and 13% higher than that of a device containing mixed TiO2 and UCNPs. Nano-heterostructures of TiO2/NaYF4:Yb3+,Tm3+ and TiO2/NaYF4:Yb3+,Ho3+ can also be prepared in situ on TiO2 photoanodes. The overall efficiency of the device containing TiO2/NaYF4:Yb3+,Ho3+ nano-heterostructures is 15% higher than the control device without UCNPs. When nano-heterostructures of TiO2/NaYF4:Yb3+,Tm3+ are used, the open-circuit voltage ( Voc) and the short-circuit current density ( Jsc) are all slightly decreased. The effect of the different UCNPs results from the different energy levels of Er3+, Tm3+, and Ho3+. These results demonstrate that utilizing the UCNPs with the apporpriate energy levels can lead to effective electron injection from the UCNPs to the CB of TiO2, effectively improving the photocurrent and overall efficiency of DSCs while using NIR light. Perylene diimide derivatives (PDIs) have potential applications in organic semiconductor devices owing to their high absorption coefficients and chemical persistency. However, molecular aggregation and inferior thermal stability limit their preparation and application as color-film devices. In addressing this issue, we designed a series of PDIs by introducing different steric hindrance group (propyl isobutyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (propyl isobutyl POSS), isoctyl, and 2-octyldodecyl) at the terminal position and electron-donating group (alkoxy, alkyl-substituted phenoxy or alkylamino) at the bay position. Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations demonstrated that the substitution of propyl isobutyl POSS at the terminal position and electron-donating groups (2,4-di- tert- butylphenoxy, tert -butyloxy, and diethylamino) at bay position of the perylene chromophore had synergistic effect on reducing the aggregation of PDIs, and the bay substitution could achieve PDIs with different colors due to the connection of the substituent group with the conjugated system of the PDIs. Based on the results of calculation, four low-aggregated multi-color PDIs were synthesized for the first time. Their color films displayed excellent photo-thermal stability because of the introduction of propyl isobutyl POSS moieties (T d > 230 °C, color difference Δ E < 3). This work provides important insights into the design of multi-color PDIs with low aggregation and high photo-thermal stabilities, which holds great promise for the organic electronics research field. • The steric expansion of POSS substituents promoted the good anti-aggregation effect of PDI dyes. • The dihedral angle and absorption spectrum of POSS-substituted PDI dyes were regulated by the electron-donating effect of the bay substituents, which showed good solubility and different colors. • The POSS-substituted PDI-PMMA composite films display good photostability and thermal stability, which was superior to commercial color films. • The hydrogel electrolyte with extreme stretchability, Conductivity and Stickiness. • Supercapacitor exhibits intrinsic ultra-stretchability and compressibility. • The supercapacitor shows remarkable capacitance retention. Stretchable and wearable electronic devices have attracted increasing attention for the realization of stretchable and compressible energy storage devices. To adapt to human body motion under rigorous and extreme working conditions, it is highly desirable to develop supercapacitors with remarkable capacitance retention during substantial stretching and compressing. Here, an intrinsically ultra-stretchable and compressible supercapacitor with remarkable capacitance retention is successfully constructed based on a new extremely stretchable, sticky and conductive double-network (DN) ionic hydrogel electrolyte. The hydrogel electrolyte with extreme stretchability (>18,000%), high toughness, good compression recovery performance, and conductivity (2.0 S/m) is achieved by introducing a chemically and physically crosslinked polyacrylamide-polyvinylpyrrolidone (PAAM-PVP) DN and LiCl electrolyte. In particular, the adhesive force of the hydrogel electrolyte surface is enhanced 13 times due to "salting-out effect". A supercapacitor fabricated based on this DN hydrogel electrolyte exhibits superior intrinsic ultra-stretchability (2500% strain), the ability to withstand compressibility (up to 7100-times the weight of the supercapacitor), and a high specific capacity (308.9 F/g at a current density of 0.21 A/g). More importantly, the supercapacitor shows remarkable capacitance retention (87% at 2500% tensile strain, 90% at 7100-fold compressive weight). In addition, the wrinkled-structured all-solid supercapacitor maintained over 97% capacitance after being stretched to 200% for 6000 cycles, and maintained 104% capacitance after being compressed to 7100-times its own weight for 1000 cycles. This work provides new insights into the synthesis of ionic electrolyte and promotes the development of next-generation all-solid-state energy storage devices with high stretchability and compressibility. Photonic‐ionic skins (PI‐skins) featuring multi‐signal synergistic outputs exhibit fascinating interactive sensing potential in flexible iononics. However, the existing ones are susceptible to irreversible damage in usage due to their poor toughness and deficiency in self‐healing. Herein, a novel tough mechanochromic PI‐skin is ingeniously constructed, from both molecular engineering and nanostructural engineering perspectives, via integrating the ordered photonic array and robust metal‐imidazole cross‐linked network. The PI‐skin displays synchronous structural color variation and sensitive electrical response under strain. Notably, the synergy of dense physical cross‐linking network and microphase‐separation structure achieved by strong metal‐imidazole coordination greatly promotes energy dissipation. PI‐skin possesses a combination of exceptional properties, including high fracture strength (8.22 MPa), remarkable toughness (10.23 MJ m−3), and robust adhesion behavior (2.30 MPa). Furthermore, favorable self‐healing capability at room temperature is realized thanks to the dynamic topological rearrangement of metal‐imidazole coordination. The PI‐skin demonstrates promising uses as a visually interactive wearable device for human motion monitoring and remote communication. This work not only broadens design considerations for the development of high‐performance artificial skins but also offers a general optical platform for high‐level interactive wearable devices. Photon upconversion of oxides nanomaterials have attracted broad attentions on account of their high stability and cost‐effective fabrication process. However, the relative low emission intensity caused by nonradiative decay severely limits their applications. Here, a new strategy to enhance upconversion emission of oxides through vanadium sensitization is reported, in which efficient emissions can be achieved via Yb–VO43− dimer‐mediated energy migration for a wide range of lanthanide activators (including Er, Tm, Ho, Eu, and Nd) in Yb3Al5O12 system. Interestingly, the resulting oxide nanocrystals demonstrate remarkable upconversion enhancement compared with their vanadium‐undoped counterparts, for example, an enhancement factor of 580 is reached for green emission of Er. More importantly, efficient upconversion luminescence can be realized for the activators (such as Eu and Nd ions) without long‐lived intermediary energy states. Considering the demonstration of in vivo bioimaging by using these nanocrystals after surface modification, it is anticipated that these results can bring new opportunities to oxide upconversion nanomaterials in bioassay, therapy, sensing, and other aspects. A new strategy to enhance upconversion emission of oxide through vanadium sensitization is demonstrated. Purpose: The study aimed to investigate the relationship between elevated maternal body mass index (BMI) and foetal chromosomal aberrations by performing single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array-based genetic testing on products of conception (POC). Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the data for 1068 assisted reproductive technology (ART)-conceived POC originated from 1068 patients with early spontaneous miscarriage. First, all types of chromosomal abnormalities were defined. Then, the baseline characteristics, including maternal age, BMI, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), gestational age, fertilization method, reasons for fertility treatment, embryo transfer (ET) cycle, stage of embryo development and the embryo morphology grade, were compared between chromosomally normal and abnormal POC groups. Finally, a multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyse various factors affecting the foetal chromosomal abnormality rate. Results: The SNP array results showed that 45.3% (484/1068) of POC were chromosomally normal and that 54.7% (584/1068) of POC presented chromosomal abnormalities. Of these 584 chromosomally abnormal POC, 388 (66.4%) were trisomy, 42 (7.2%) had a monosomy, 68 (11.6%) were found with segmental aneuploidy, 46 (7.9%) were mosaic, 28 (4.8%) were identified as polyploidy and 12 (2.1%) were euploid samples with uniparental disomy (UPD). Multivariate logistic regression results showed that the risk of miscarrying chromosomally abnormal POC increased 1.424-fold in women with normal BMI compared to women with an elevated BMI (≥ 25 kg/m2) (OR = 1.424, 95% CI = 1.074–1.888, p = 0.014). • Ionogel possesses mussel-inspired diphasic structure crosslinked by salt-bridge hydrogen bonds. • Ionogel exhibits extremely high mechanical strength and toughness (∼34.0 MPa and ∼58.3 MJ m−3). • Ionogel exhibits robust adhesive, self-healing, and recyclable capabilities. • Ionogel demonstrates rate-dependent mechanical adaptivity and outstanding impact-stiffening performance for impact protection. Intrinsic adhesiveness and mechanical adaptivity allowing spontaneous anchoring and impact-stiffening, which facilitate safer impact protection, remain challenges for the design and synthesis of advanced tough impact-resistant materials. Herein, a novel biomimetic mechanically robust impact-resistant ionogel with the mussel-inspired diphasic structure was elaborately developed. The salt-bridge hydrogen bonds between carboxyl and imidazole groups inside rigid clusters serve as reversible crosslinking sites and prime energy-dissipation motifs, leading to strong noncovalent cohesion. Furthermore, the hydrophobic ionic liquid enriches surface interactions, providing extensive adhesive performance for in-situ attachment under external impact. Benefitting from the dynamic nature of the salt-bridge hydrogen bonds, the ionogel possesses impressive energy dissipation, self-healing, and recyclable properties. Notably, the prepared ionogel exhibits rate-dependent mechanical adaptivity and outstanding impact-stiffening performance with extraordinary initial modulus (∼6.3 GPa), impact strength (∼178.5 MPa), and impact toughness (∼89.6 MJ m−3) under high-speed impact (∼5200 s−1).
