A novel compact 2-DOF compliant positioner is developed for the purpose of achieving good characteristics such as high natural frequency, high displacement amplification ratio, good linear motion, and compact structure based on its symmetrical structure. To be specific, the developed stage is proposed according to an advanced six-lever displacement amplifier arranged at an inclination angle of the rigid bar utilizing right circular hinges and a parallel guiding mechanism with integrated flexure leaf hinges to attain the above-mentioned characteristics and reduce the decoupling mobility error. First, to quickly assess the initial quality response, an integration method of kinetostatic analysis, the Lagrange method, and finite element analysis was applied to evaluate and verify the quality characteristic of the stage. The experimental result showed that the error between the analytical method and the FEA method was 1.3%, which was relatively small and reliable for quickly assessing the primary quality response of the proposed positioner. Next, to boost the important output characteristics of the developed positioner, the integration approach of the response surface method and NSGA-II algorithm was utilized to find the optimal design variables. Finally, a prototype was manufactured based on the CNC milling method to validate the experimental and FEA analysis results. The attained results show that the optimal results of safety factor and output displacement were 2.4025 and 248.9 µm. Moreover, the FEA verification results were 2.4989 and 242.16 µm, with errors for safety factor and output displacement between the optimal result and the FEA result of 3.86% and 2.78%, respectively. In addition, the simulation and experimental results of the first natural frequency were 371.83 Hz and 329.59 Hz, respectively, and the error between the FEA result and experimental result for the first natural frequency was 11.36%. Furthermore, the achieved results show that the relationship between input displacement and output displacement of the experimental result and the FEA result of the developed structure achieved a good linear connection. These results suggest that the proposed positioner will be a potential structure employed in precise positioning systems and nanoindentation testing positioning systems for checking bio-specimens' behaviors. Background The evaluation of nutrient variability plays a crucial role in accessing soil potentials and practical intervention responses in rice production systems. Synthetic fertilizer applications and cultivation practices are considered key factors affecting nutrient dynamics and availability. Here, we assessed the nutrient dynamics in surface, subsurface water and soil under local water management and conventional rice cultivation practices in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta. Methods We implemented a field experiment (200 m 2) in the 2018 wet season and the 2019 dry season in a triple rice-cropping field. Eight samples of surface water, subsurface water (30–45 cm), and topsoil (0–20 cm) were collected and analysed during the rice-growing seasons. Results The results showed that N-NH 4 +, P-PO 4 3- and total P peaks were achieved after fertilizing. Irrespective of seasons, the nutrient content in surface water was always greater than that of subsurface water ( P<0.001), with the exception of N-NO 3 -, which was insignificant ( P>0.05). When comparing the wet and dry seasons, nutrient concentrations exhibited minor differences ( P>0.05). Under conventional rice cultivation, the effects of synthetic fertilizer topdressing on the total N, soil organic matter (SOM), and total P were negligible in the soil. Higher rates of N fertilizer application did not significantly increase soil N-NH 4 +, total N, yet larger P fertilizer amounts substantially enhanced soil total P ( P<0.001). Conclusions Under conventional rice cultivation, N-NH 4 +, P-PO 4 3- and total P losses mainly occur through runoff rather than leaching. While N-NO 3 - loss is similar in surface water and subsurface water. Notably, nutrient content in soil was high; whilst SOM was seen to be low-to-medium between seasons. Future work should consider the nutrient balance and dynamic simulation in the lowland soil of the Vietnamese Mekong Delta’s paddy fields.

Launaea sarmentosa, also known as Sa Sam Nam, is a widely used remedy in Vietnamese traditional medicine and cuisine. However, the chemical composition and bioactivity of its essential oil have not been elucidated yet. In this study, we identified 40 compounds (98.6% of total peak area) in the essential oil via GC-MS analysis at the first time. Among them, five main compounds including Thymohydroquinone dimethyl ether (52.4%), (E)-α-Atlantone (9.0%), Neryl isovalerate (6.6%), Davanol D2 (isomer 2) (3.9%), and trans-Sesquisabinene hydrate (3.9%) have accounted for 75.8% of total peak area. The anti-bacterial activity of the essential oil against 4 microorganisms including Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa has also investigated via agar well diffusion assay. The results showed that the essential oil exhibited a strong antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis with the inhibition zones ranging from 8.2 to 18.7 mm. To elucidate the anti-bacterial effect mechanism of the essential oil, docking study of five main compounds of the essential oil (Thymohydroquinone dimethyl ether, (E)-α-Atlantone, Neryl isovalerate, Davanol D2 (isomer 2), and trans-Sesquisabinene hydrate) against some key proteins for bacterial growth such as DNA gyrase B, penicillin binding protein 2A, tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase, and dihydrofolate reductase were performed. The results showed that the main constituents of essential oil were highly bound with penicillin binding protein 2A with the free energies ranging –27.7 to –44.8 kcal/mol, which suggests the relationship between the antibacterial effect of essential oil and the affinity of main compounds with penicillin binding protein. In addition, the free energies of main compounds of the essential oil with human cyclooxygenase 1, cyclooxygenase 2, and phospholipase A2, the crucial proteins related with inflammatory response were less than diclofenac, a non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug. Introduction: COVID‐19 vaccine was demonstrated to be effective in dialysis patients, but boosters are mandatory due to a rapid waning of anti‐spike antibodies. A vaccination strategy based on immunologic response might be useful to maintain a favorable risk–benefit balance in this vulnerable population. Methods: CoviDial is an observational prospective study enrolling 121 dialysis patients to receive a 3‐dose mRNA‐1273 vaccine according to a uniform schedule. At baseline, months 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12, anti‐spike antibodies against four epitopes (S1, S2, ECD‐S1 + S2, RBD) were monitored with a multiplex immunodot enzymatic assay. Potential correlation between initial serologic response and subsequent COVID‐19 infection was then assessed. Results: Overall, 96.2% and 96.8% of patients had anti‐RBD antibodies at 3 and 12 months, respectively. All antibodies titers significantly decreased at month 6 compared to month 3. Booster vaccine induced a robust serologic response at month 9, but with a waning 3 months later, particularly for anti‐S2 (37.2 ± 3.3 vs. 61.3 ± 3.0, p < 0.0001) and anti‐S1 + S2 antibodies (68.4 ± 3.3 vs. 88.4 ± 2.3, p = 0.0015). Fifteen patients were later tested positive for SARS‐CoV‐2. At month 3, mean titers of anti‐RBD, anti‐S1 + S2, and anti‐S2 antibodies were lower in the subsequent SARS‐CoV‐2 infected cohort (71.57 ± 9.01 vs. 85.79 ± 2.61, p = 0.0131; 41.07 ± 7.96 vs. 61.68 ± 3.56, p = 0.0237; 13.79 ± 5.03 vs. 39.70 ± 3.86, p = 0.0096; respectively). Conclusion: Three doses of mRNA‐1273 vaccine induce a robust but time‐limited immunologic response in dialysis patients. Lower anti‐spike antibodies titers after initial vaccination are associated with a higher risk to subsequently contract SARS‐CoV‐2, even beyond 6 months. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
