Abstract

Das vorgeschlagene SHM-System 'Adapted Metal Wire Based and fiber Oriented Sensor - AMBOS', basierend auf Drähten aus Metalllegierungen, ist vergleichsweise kostengünstig und verfügt über sehr gute Verarbeitungseigenschaften, insbesondere mit Eignung zur Integration in den Wickelprozess. Eine speziell entwickelte Abwickelvorrichtung erlaubt die direkte Verarbeitung der Drähte zusammen mit den Verstärkungsfasern und wärmehärtenden Harzsystemen im Wickelprozess. Insbesondere aufgrund der hohen Genauigkeit und der sehr niedrigen Material- und Verarbeitungskosten hat das beschriebene Verfahren ein großes Potenzial für den Einsatz in der automobilen Serienfertigung. Grundsätzlich sind die untersuchten Metalldrähte für eine solche Anwendung geeignet. Ein wesentlicher Vorteil ist die einfache Kompensation von thermischen Einflüssen. Weitere Untersuchungen zum Korrosionsschutz und zu Umwelteinflüssen stehen noch aus. The proposed SHM system called “Adapted Metal wire Based and fiber Oriented Sensor – AMBOS”, based on wires from metal alloys, is comparatively inexpensive and has very good processing properties, in particular with suitability for integration into the winding process. A specially developed unwinding de-vice allows direct processing of the wires together with the reinforcing fibres and thermosetting resin systems in the winding process. Especially due to the high ac-curacy and the very low material and processing costs, the described process has great potential for use in automotive series production. In principle, the metal wires investigated are suitable for such an application. A significant advantage is the simple compensation of thermal influences. Further investigations on corrosion preservation and influences from the environment are still pending.

Abstract

Entwicklung eines toroidalen Verbunddruckbehälters zur mobilen Wasserstoffspeicherung mit 700 bar Fülldruck für einen brennstoffzellenbetriebenen mobilen Energieerzeuger mit 5 kW im Rahmen des Förderprojektes 'HZwo:FRAME - Tank'. Für die spritzgegossenen Polymerliner-Halbschalen und deren Laserfügeverfahren wurde ein Polyethylen mit einem akzeptablen Wasserstoffpermeationskoeffizienten ausgewählt. Der metallische Befüllinsert wird im Spritzguss in einer Halbschale integriert. Im Vergleich zu den am Markt erhältlichen zylindrischen Wasserstoff-Druckbehältern ist die gravimetrische H2-Kapazität hinsichtlich des Systemgewichts des entwickelten toroidalen CFK-Druckbehälters geringer. Mit einem Verhältnis von 5,7% des Gesamtgewichts zu Eigengewichts des Speichermediums wird bereits das Ziel für das Jahr 2025 für bordeigene Wasserstoffspeicher für leichte Brennstoffzellenfahrzeuge des U.S. Department of Energy erreicht. Der Ringdruckbehälter wird mit der entwickelten Ringwickelmaschine automatisiert hergestellt. Diese Prototyp-Maschine wurde im Rahmen des Projekts entwickelt und befindet sich derzeit im Aufbau. Development of a toroidal composite pressure vessel for mobile hydrogen storage with 700 bar filling pressure for a fuel cell operated mobile power generator with a constant electrical output of 5 kW within the funded project “HZwo:FRAME - Tank”. For the injection moulded polymer liner half-shells and the laser joining of those, a polyethylene with a tolerable hydrogen permeation coefficient was investigated. The metallic filling insert will be integrated in one part by injection moulding. Compared to cylindrical hydrogen composite vessels available on the market, regarding the H2 gravimetric capacity regarding the system weight of the developed toroidal composite pressure vessel is lower and already reaches the target for year 2025 for on-board hydrogen storages for light-duty fuel cell vehicles of the U.S. Department of Energy. The toroidal composite pressure vessel will be manufactured automated with the developed ring winding machine. This prototype machine has been developed within the project and is currently under construction.

104. Acoustic signatures of the phases and phase transitions in Yb₂ Ti₂ O₇

Abstract

We report on measurements of the sound velocity and attenuation in a single crystal of the candidate quantum-spin-ice material Yb₂ Ti₂ O₇ as a function of temperature and magnetic field. The acoustic modes couple to the spins magnetoelastically and, hence, carry information about the spin correlations that sheds light on the intricate magnetic phase diagram of Yb₂ Ti₂ O₇ and the nature of spin dynamics in the material. Particularly, we find a pronounced thermal hysteresis in the acoustic data with a concomitant peak in the specific heat indicating a possible first-order phase transition at about 0.17 K. At low temperatures, the acoustic response to magnetic field saturates hinting at the development of magnetic order. The experimental data are consistent with a first-order phase transition from a cooperative paramagnet to a ferromagnet below T ≈ 0.17 K, as shown by fitting the data with a phenomenological mean-field theory.

Abstract

AIM This prospective, noninterventional, multi-centre, practice-based study aimed to evaluate the longevity of endodontically treated teeth (ETT) restored with posts and to analyse factors influencing the success and survival of endodontic posts. METHODOLOGY Eight general dental practitioners each placed up to 27 endodontic posts without any restriction to size and material. Teeth were restricted to incisors, canines and premolars. Multi-level Cox proportional hazards models were used to evaluate the association between clinical factors and time until failure. RESULTS A total of 195 endodontic posts were followed-up for up to 6.5 years in 195 patients. Of these, 140 posts were judged as successful [mean success time: 59 (55-63) months]; the mean annual failure rate was 8.6%. This decreased to 4.4% when excluding recementations. 152 posts survived [mean survival time: 64 (60-67) months]. Recemented restorations had an eight times higher failure rate compared with new restorations. Furthermore, restorations with glass fibre post had a significantly lower success rate compared with titanium posts. CONCLUSION Relatively low success and survival rates occurred for restorations with posts after root canal treatment in a private practice setting after a follow-up of up to 6.5 years. Recemented crowns had a high risk of failure.

Abstract

Wells used for steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD), for cyclic steam stimulation (CSS), for hydrocarbon production in areas with anomalous high geothermal gradient, or for geothermal energy extraction all are operated in high temperature environments where maintaining long term wellbore integrity is one of the key challenges. Changes in cement mineralogy and associated mechanical properties may critically affect the integrity of high temperature wells. In this study, the relation between changes in mineralogy and mechanical properties of API class G cement with 40% silica flour was investigated by exposing samples for 1-4 weeks to temperatures of 60-420°C. The effect of mineralogical changes on mechanical properties was investigated using a combination of chemical and microstructural analysis and triaxial strength tests at confining pressures of 2-15 MPa. The combined effect of changing porosity, microstructure and strength of mineral phases determines changes in mechanical behavior, in particular the formation of stronger mineral phases with higher density affect Young’s modulus, failure strength and residual strength. Deformation of the cement is more brittle at low confining pressures and more ductile at high confining pressures with a considerable residual strength after failure and highest reduction in cement stiffness and increase in strength at temperatures of 250°C.

Abstract

The relationship between the local and universal churches is examined in this chapter using the principle from Hans Urs von Balthasar that the whole is present in the part. This illuminates certain aspects of the debate between Ratzinger (Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI) and Kasper on the ontological priority of the universal church. Balthasar’s principle together with the connection between Christ and the Church based on Augustine’s concept of the totus Christus enables a deeper understanding of the relationship between the local and universal churches. It is found that the indivisibility of the totus Christus resolves some key difficulties in this debate. This indivisibility of the one totus Christus is brought into focus using the analogy of a hologram where the whole is quintessentially in the part. This leads to some fundamental implications for the ministry of priest and bishop.

Abstract

Laser emission of an array of 150 Nd-doped fibres within a common resonator is dynamically analyzed. The temporally and spatially resolved measurements of the emission characteristics on the nanosecond as well as on the picosecond time scale are presented. The results did not show transverse instability and migration of emission area.
