The aim of this scoping review was to synthesise the literature to identify what the psychological impacts of family court processes were on mothers who had experienced DFV. Twenty-five articles met inclusion criteria with four themes capturing the findings: Perpetrators using the system as a mode of coercive control; Secondary victimisation as a result of interacting with the system; Required to relive their abuse; and, Long-term psychological consequences of having engaged with the system. Key findings were that perpetrators manipulated the system to perpetrate further abuse and continue/reassert their control. Secondary re-victimisation was common, with poor knowledge of DFV and limited understanding of coercive control tactics and how these were employed by perpetrators by legal professionals identified as contributing factors. This review suggests that mothers who engage with the family court system experience a range of short- and long-term psychological impacts and court processes facilitate ongoing abuse by the perpetrator. Background: Evidence of an association between maternal use of antiseizure medication (ASM) during pregnancy and the risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children is conflicting. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to summarize the relationship between fetal exposure to ASM and the development of ASD or ADHD in offspring. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed and other databases to identify relevant epidemiological studies published from inception until 1 March 2024. Results: Seven cohort studies were included in the meta-analysis. The results showed that maternal exposure to ASMs during pregnancy was associated with an increased risk of ASD [odds ratio (OR): 2.1, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.63-2.71; p < 0.001] in the general population. This association became weaker (ASD: OR: 1.38, 95% CI: 1.11-1.73; p = 0.004) when the reference group was mothers with a psychiatric disorder or epilepsy not treated during pregnancy. Furthermore, an increased risk of ADHD was observed when the study data adjusted for drug indications were pooled (OR: 1.43, 95% CI: 1.07-1.92; p = 0.015). In subgroup analyses based on individual ASM use, only exposure to valproate preconception was significantly associated with an increased risk of ASD or ADHD. Conclusion: The significant association between maternal ASM use during pregnancy and ASD or ADHD in offspring may be partially explained by the drug indication or driven by valproate. This study investigates the disposition of mothers in contemporary Igboland towards displaying traditional maternal virtues in the upbringing of their children. The inquiry is underpinned by a popular Old Testament narrative, Exodus 2:1-10. The pericope reports the story of the birth of Moses, who was born at the climax of a chaotic situation in Egypt. To control the numerical growth of the Israelites, the king of Egypt instructed that all Hebrew male babies be thrown into the Nile. When Moses was born, his mother, sister and Pharaoh’s daughter displayed age-long maternal qualities such as love, sacrifice, courage, wisdom and patience, to save him from Pharaoh’s plot. The study observes that in contemporary times, women have more opportunities for self-development and employment; they venture into diverse careers that could restrain them from exhibiting some longstanding motherly virtues in child upbringing. Feminist criticism, descriptive analysis and comparative analysis are employed in studying the text, the social phenomenon and the interaction between the text and the social context, respectively.

In recent years, the rise of mompreneurs has become a notable phenomenon, as more mothers engage in managing small businesses while simultaneously fulfilling family responsibilities. Mompreneur refer to a mother figure who owns and works on small business, also known as Micro, Small, and Medium Entreprises or MSME. While balancing dual roles as business owners and caregivers, they often face significant challenges in maintaining their businesses and attending to household and family responsibilities. These challenges can lead to daily life struggles perceived as stress, which, in turn, may impact their psychological well-being. This study aims to examine whether perceived stress affects the psychological well-being of mompreneurs. Using a quantitative approach, the study targeted mompreneurs in Bandung City and employed convenience sampling, resulting in 102 respondents. Measuring tools will be using Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) consists of 10 items and Psychological Well-Being Scale consists of 42 items while demographic factors suh as age, educational background, sales turnover, and marital status were also included. The result showed that there is an effect of perceived stress on psychological well-being from regression analysis (p < 0,05) with an r squared of 0.156. These findings highlight the importance of addressing stress management and promoting psychological well-being among mothers managing MSMEs to ensure they can effectively fulfill their dual roles and maintain a healthy balance.

AbstractLegislative changes in the Czech Republic in 2016 created more favorable conditions for inclusive education of learners with acquired brain injury. Due to the scarcity of domestic and international evidence (only three studies) focused on this topic, this study aimed to understand the educational experience of a learner with a heart transplantation followed by acquired brain injury and his mother. The data analysis was conducted using phenomenological methodology by van Manen, along with thematic analysis. Six themes were identified in the mother’s responses and five in the pupil’s. This case study provided valuable insights into potential barriers in inclusive education that hindered the pupil’s learning and led to additional challenges in his social participation. This vulnerable population of students and their families require more protective educational policies, as their experiences may be significantly affected by the ongoing frailty of the pupils’ health.

ABSTRACT Background Mothers of high‐risk neonates experience tremendous stress during neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission. This stress has a negative impact on mothers' participation in neonatal care activities, psychological health and coping skills in the NICU. Objective To determine the impact of interventional strategies to reduce maternal stress and enhance coping skills during neonatal admission to the NICU. Design A scoping review was carried out following the methodological framework outlined by Arksey and O'Malley. Methods This scoping review was conducted as per the Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines, including a quality appraisal checklist for randomised and nonrandomised controlled trials. Patterns, advances, gaps, evidence for practice and research recommendations from the review (PAGER framework) were used to report the results. The following international databases were used to search for primary articles: Medline via PubMed, EBSCOhost via CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science and the ProQuest Medical Library. Original studies published in English between January 2011 and January 2023 from low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs) that assessed maternal stress and coping skills during neonatal NICU admission were included in the review. Results The review included 15 articles from LMICs, of which 60% were from middle‐income, 25% were from lower‐middle‐income and 15% were from low‐income countries. Interventional strategies were described under five categories. Maternal stress decreased significantly across all three subscales of the PSPS: ‘sight and sound’, ‘baby looks and behavior’ and ‘parental relationship with baby and role alteration’ during neonatal NICU admission. Interventional strategies involving family‐centred care and emotional and psychological supportive care have been reported to have a consistently positive impact on alleviating maternal stress and enhancing coping skills in the NICU. Conclusion Healthcare professionals, especially nurses, are pivotal in promptly recognising maternal stress and NICU stressors. The participation of mothers in neonatal care, such as through family‐centred care and emotional support interventions, significantly reduces maternal stress and enhances coping skills.

BackgroundSocial support is associated with decreased symptoms of postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD) in mothers of healthy infants, but less is known about social support and PMADs in mothers with preterm infants. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between social support and symptoms of PMADs reported by mothers in the months following hospital discharge of their preterm infant.MethodsMothers of infants less than 33 weeks gestational age were enrolled from neonatal intensive care units (NICU) at 6 sites. Mothers completed PMAD measures of depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress approximately 3 months following their infant's discharge. Multivariable regression was used to evaluate relationships between social support and PMAD measures.ResultsOf 129 mothers, 1 in 5 reported clinically significant PMAD symptoms of: depression (24%), anxiety (19%), and post-traumatic stress (20%). Social support was strongly inversely associated with all 3 PMADs. Social support explained between 21% and 26% of the variance in depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress symptoms.ConclusionIncreased social support may buffer PMAD symptoms in mothers of preterm infants after discharge. Research is needed to determine effective screening and interventions aimed at promoting social support for all parents during and following their infant's hospitalisation.

This identification is also crucial to adapt and improve the healthcare provided.Subjects and Methods: A systematic literature review, meta-synthesis, of qualitative studies will be developed with the goal of obtaining a comprehensive understanding of mothers’ perception of pregnancy loss and identifying their specific support needs.Inclusion Criteria: This review will consider qualitative investigations that study the perceptions or experiences of adult women who have suffered prenatal loss. All studies published in English, Spanish or Portuguese between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2022 will be considered. This systematic review will follow the Joanna Briggs Institute statement for systematic reviews of qualitative design. The Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, Scopus, CINAHL®, MEDLINE® and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDRS) databases will be utilized for research. Data extraction will be performed in-peers by the researchers, using the Joanna Briggs Institute model. From its origins, the Christian religious imaginary has been inhabited by the sacrificial fantasy, which finds its most radical symbol in the crucified body. According to the principle of imitatio Jesu, believers have always been called to consider pain as an experience to be lived and shared with Christ, to be offered to him as a gift of self to the Other. Already the masters of suspicion condemned this ascetic-religious cult of sacrifice and showed its dehumanizing and superegoic side, characterized by the violence of abuse, authoritarianism, submission, and above all the denial of life. However, this beneficial and liberating critique has removed the donative and not merely alienating aspect not of the sacrificial body, but of the symbolic sacrifice. Starting from a close dialogue between systematic theology and (Lacanian) psychoanalysis, this contribution aims to question both the sacrificial (religious) fantasy in its alienating character and the equally superegoic drive of the imperative of unlimited enjoyment as a reaction to any kind of symbolic limitation. Against this background, an attempt will be made to think of a form of sacrifice that follows the logic of the gift (of the body), without being subjected to a logic of alienating exchange.

Abstract Background The motivation of caregivers plays a crucial role in the treatment, follow-up, and care of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Previous studies have focused on the older people and end-stage diseases, while giving less attention to the motivation of mothers caring for children with special needs. This study aimed to explore the motivations of mothers caring for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Iran. Methods This study employed a qualitative approach, guided by the Self-Determination Theory. Purposeful sampling was initially used, followed by theoretical sampling until data saturation was achieved. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 26 mothers of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Mayring’s seven-step directed content analysis approach was utilized for coding and categorization. The research adhered to ethical standards and ensured data trustworthiness through credibility, dependability, confirmability, and transferability measures. Results The findings revealed that mothers’ caregiving motivations could be classified into four main categories: (I) intrinsic, (II) identified-extrinsic, (III) introjected-extrinsic, and (IV) external-extrinsic. Additionally, twelve sub-categories were identified within these four main categories. Conclusion The findings revealed that mothers demonstrated varying levels of intrinsic and extrinsic motivations in caring for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. By recognizing and enhancing the diverse sources of motivation, healthcare providers and policymakers can better support mothers in their caregiving roles, ultimately contributing to improved outcomes for both the mothers and their children.

As a specific breastfeeding practice, the proportion of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia remains below the intended indicator. Education about breastfeeding techniques aims to increase success in providing exclusive breastfeeding by increasing mothers' knowledge and skills in breastfeeding their babies. The goal of this study is to find out how the Jambi City Health Center's breastfeeding education program affects moms' confidence and nursing behavior. Mothers who had just given birth or were nursing their babies participated in this study. Using a control group and a quasi-experimental design with pre- and post-test measures, the study used a quantitative methodology. Using accidental sampling, 25 respondents from the treatment and control groups made up the sample. The variables measured are maternal behavior and self-efficacy. The measuring instruments used were the breastfeeding action instrument and the BSES-FS. The treatment group's behavioral results produced a p-value of 0.001 (0.05). In a similar vein, the treatment group's p-value for self-efficacy outcomes was 0.001 (0.05). These findings imply that nursing moms' behavior and self-efficacy are significantly impacted by teaching packages on breastfeeding procedures delivered by video and booklet medium. In particular, compared to the control group that did not get the intervention, the treatment group, who did receive the intervention, exhibited improved behavior and greater levels of self-efficacy.

Background: Exclusive breast feeding (EBF) is an effective tool of child survival. While many mothers understand the importance of breast feeding, some circumstances may hinder the practice. Objective: To determine the pattern and factors influencing EBF among women attending a private health facility in Lagos, Nigeria. Methodology: One hundred and twelve mothers with children aged twelve months or less were interviewed through a questionnaire on their breastfeeding practices. Results: At the end of second month, two-fifths of the babies were still exclusively breastfed. This dropped to one-fifth by the end of the fourth month. At the end of six months, less than onetenth of subjects were still exclusively breastfed (3.6%).No association was found between breastfeeding pattern and variables such as gender of infants, place of delivery, maternal age, type of delivery and number of antenatal visits. On the contrary there was an association with following variables: birth order among mother siblings, prenatal and postnatal feeding advice. Conclusion: The rate of exclusive breast feeding among mothers for the recommended six months was very low (3.6%). Antenatal and postnatal programmes that will encourage mothers to practice exclusive breastfeeding should be strengthened.

Objective: In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effect of video calls held between preterm babies hospitalized in NICU and their mothers on the amount of breast milk.Methods: This study is a randomized controlled trial. This study was conducted in the NICU of Balıkesir Atatürk City Hospital between 15 April-01 October 2022. One hundred preterm infants and their mothers, 50 in video call and 50 in control groups, were included. Online video calls between the preterm infants and their mothers were held by using Zoom application as 10 minutes on every day of the week. The breast milk follow-up form was sent to the mothers over WhatsApp application and the mothers sent the form back to the researcher at the 7th day. As per the standard hospital protocol, mother who control group can visit their infants in NICU face-to-face two days a week and get information about their infants.Results: No statistically significant difference was determined between the video call group and the control group in terms of 7-day breastmilk amount; however, the breast milk of the mothers in the video call group increased more on the 7th day compared to the control group (p

Abstract Background Lifestyle and habits, cardiovascular risk factors (CRF), bone and mental health, dietary habits, physical activity, among others are developed in childhood and adolescence. Family environment has shown to play an important role in these outcomes. However, whether the parent-child relationship lifestyle habits and health parameters can be influenced by physical activity patterns still unclear. The objective of this study will be to monitor and investigate the associations between lifestyle habits between parents and their children longitudinally, as well as verify whether in more active parents, the possible associations with lifestyle habits are different from those of parents considered less active. Methods The sample will consist of parents (father, mother, or both) and their children /adolescents. The participants will be recruited through public call by flyers spread across all the regions of the city and also through social media. The health parameters will include cardiovascular (cardiac autonomic modulation, blood pressure and resting heart rate), bone mineral density, anthropometric indices, handgrip strength, mental health (quality of life, anxiety and depression symptoms and stress), self-reported morbidities and musculoskeletal pain. Lifestyle habits will include physical activity levels, sedentary behavior, sleep parameters, eating patterns, smoking and alcohol consumption. Sociodemographic variables of age, sex, ethnicity and socioeconomic status will be considered as covariates. The follow-up visits of data collection will be scheduled after a period of 12 months from the baseline assessment during every twelve months. Discussion The family environment has great potential to determine lifestyle habits in children and adolescents. Based on the results presented in the present study, we hope that health promotion actions can be better designed in the family environment.

Abstract Background Early initiation of breastfeeding is the initiation of breastfeeding within one hour of birth, which plays a significant role in a born baby’s growth and survival, however its prevalence and predictors among urban full-time readymade garments (RMG) working mothers are not investigated. The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence and factors affecting early initiation of breastfeeding among urban RMG working mothers. Methods A sequential explanatory mixed-methods study was conducted between March 2023 and December 2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. A total of 452 full-time female RMG workers were included for the quantitative study. Qualitative study was carried out among 30 full-time female RMG workers, four female physicians who were employed in the RMGs, four RMG factory managers, and four local pediatricians. Results The prevalence of early initiation of breastfeeding was 40% among the women. It was significantly associated with various factors, including socio-cultural barriers, the advanced age of the mother (AOR 3.93, 95%CI 1.18, 13.04), lack of education (AOR 6.86, 95%CI 1.11, 42.49), lack of awareness, and cultural practices such as initiating goat milk and honey instead of breast milk. The absence of colostrum feeding (AOR 8.96, 95%CI 4.30, 18.70) and pre-lacteal feeding (AOR 0.06, 95%CI 0.03, 0.11) were significant baby feeding practice-related barriers to early initiation of breastfeeding. Maternal health factors, notably post-delivery sickness, cesarean delivery, and lack of breastmilk production, were revealed as a significant hindrance to the early initiation of breastfeeding explored from qualitative analysis. In addition, RMG factory-related factors that significantly affect early initiation of breastfeeding include a strong focus on production, a busy schedule, and a lack of initiative regarding the early initiation of breastfeeding. Conclusions The prevalence of early initiation of breastfeeding among RMG working women is poor. This study emphasizes the need for interventions that address specific challenges of early initiation of breastfeeding faced by working mothers in RMG sectors, including improved lactation education, increased awareness to mitigate cultural barriers, RMG factory-based initiatives to empower female workers early initiation of breastfeeding, and preparing early initiation of breastfeeding -friendly post-cesarean unit at the health care facility.

Background: Malnutrition in childhood has been linked with inappropriate and ineffective complementary feeding practices especially during the first two year of life. Complementary feeding involves the introduction of other forms of foods and or liquids from six months of age when breast milk only can no longer meet the dietary requirements of infants. The study aimed to assess the prevalence of optimal complementary feeding practices and associated factors among mothers of children 6-23 months in Jijiga town of Somali Region of Ethiopia. Methods: A community based cross-sectional design conducted among 227 mothers of children aged 6–23 months using multi-stage sampling technique. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire analysed using SPSS version 23. Logistic regression analysis was done to determine factors associated between optimal complementary feeding practices. Results: The prevalence of optimal complementary feeding practice was 49.4%, however 57% of the respondents introduced complementary feeding between 6-8 months. Minimal meal frequency and minimal dietary diversity among the respondents was 52% and 45% respectively. Optimal complementary feeding practice was significantly associated with mother’s level of education [AOR=3.4; 95% CI: 2.26-6.14], being employed [AOR=3.94; 95% CI: 1.08-6.57],parity [AOR=5.60; 95% CI: 2.17-8.67], Antenatal Care (ANC) attendance [AOR=7.23; 95% CI: 2.76-11.91), health facility delivery [AOR=4.20;95% CI: 1.06-7.55] and family size [AOR=3.65; 95% CI: 1.80-7.17) Conclusion: Nutrition education and counselling being provided by health workers to mothers should focus on promoting not only timely initiation of complementary feeding but adequate in quantity, appropriate frequency and consistency using variety of foods combination to accommodate the nutritional needs of the growing child while continuing breastfeeding.

Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of mothers of newly diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) children, to identify the difficulties mothers face in diabetes care, and to identify appropriate solutions.Methods: Mothers of children aged 6-12, who have been newly diagnosed with T1DM, have been included in the workforce due to the adaptation period for school. Online interviews were conducted with the mothers using a phenomenological research design and hermeneutic phenomenological approach.Results: It was determined that the mothers had concerns about their children diagnosed with T1DM, that the children diagnosed with T1DM had concerns about their siblings, and additionally, they had psychosocial problems. The reasons for these concerns and problems are restrictions or rules, the approaches of the child's friends, and the attitudes of individuals in society. The resources that mothers receive support from in the process are family, friends, health professionals, school administration, school teachers, and a school nurse.Conclusion: As a result, it was concluded that the school management and teachers, health team, social awareness, psychosocial support groups, and technological developments are or will benefit from them, and that these resources are important in supporting mothers and children to cope with T1DM and increasing positive experiences in follow-up.

Similarly, whenever a Shah or Sultan fell ill, politics used to start. Like it happened during the times of Alauddin Khilji, Jahangir, and Shah Jahan. Many types of drugs were also used during the Mughal period to prevent motherhood. In this way, Babar's wife, Mubarika Begum, could never become a mother because she was given drugs. When Babar's son Kamran fell ill, he feared that his stepmothers would be poisoned. In this way, the royal illness was sometimes real and sometimes feigned. For example, Malika-i Jahan spread rumors about her son's illness and went to Delhi for treatment and overnight deposed Delhi's Sultan Alauddin Masood and her son. Prince Naseeruddin Mahmood was made the Sultan of Delhi.

Objective: Emergence delirium is a common complication in children. Recorded mother's voice, as a non-pharmacological measure, is increasingly used to prevent the emergence of delirium in pediatric patients, but sufficient evidence is still needed to prove its efficacy. Methods: Embase, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CINAHL, and Sinomed databases were searched for randomized controlled trials exploring the efficacy of recorded mother's voice in preventing the emergence of delirium in pediatric patients undergoing general anesthesia. The original data were pooled for the meta-analysis with Review Manager 5.4.1. This study was conducted based on the Cochrane Review Methods. Results: Eight studies with 724 children were included in the analysis. Recorded mother's voice reduced the incidence of emergence delirium when compared with either no voice (RR: 0.45; [95 % CI, 0.34 - 0.61]; p < 0.01; I2 = 7 %) or stranger's voice (RR: 0.51; [95 % CI, 0.28 - 0.91]; p = 0.02; I2 = 38 %) without increasing other untoward reactions. In addition, it shortened the post-anesthesia care unit stay time when compared with no voice (MD = −5.64; [95 % CI, −8.43 to −2.58]; p < 0.01, I2 = 0 %), but not stranger's voice (MD = −1.23; [95 % CI, −3.08 to 0.63]; p = 0.19, I2 = 0 %). It also shortened the extubation time and reduced the incidence of postoperative rescue analgesia. Conclusion: The current analysis indicated that recorded mother's voices could reduce the incidence of emergency delirium, shorten post-anesthesia care unit stay time and extubation time, and decrease the incidence of postoperative rescue analgesia in children.

Abstract Background Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurological condition which results in social skill deficits, communication difficulties, and restrictive and repetitive behaviour. The difficulties associated with parenting children with ASD have been studied extensively, mainly from the perspectives of mothers. The extent of involvement of fathers in the raising of children with ASD has received limited scholarly attention, especially in non-Western contexts such as the United Arab Emirates. Objectives This study asked mothers to evaluate the involvement of fathers in the development of children with ASD. Methods In all, 240 mothers completed the Fathers’ Involvement in Development and Rehabilitation Scale, designed based on a review of literature on the construct of involvement, namely attitude, participation in training, and support domains. The data were subjected to computation of mean scores, multivariate analysis of variance, hierarchical regression, and moderation analyses. Results The results suggested that fathers held positive attitudes and provided substantial support to their children with ASD. However, mothers were ambivalent regarding the participation of fathers in training to support the development of their children. Differences were also observed between participants according to marital status, location, child gender, and ASD severity. Conclusion Recommendations for targeted training for fathers and other study implications are discussed.

Background: The motivation of caregivers plays a crucial role in the treatment, follow-up, and care of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Previous studies have focused on the older people and end-stage diseases, while giving less attention to the motivation of mothers caring for children with special needs. This study aimed to explore the motivations of mothers caring for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Iran. Methods: This study employed a qualitative approach, guided by the Self-Determination Theory. Purposeful sampling was initially used, followed by theoretical sampling until data saturation was achieved. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 26 mothers of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Mayring's seven-step directed content analysis approach was utilized for coding and categorization. The research adhered to ethical standards and ensured data trustworthiness through credibility, dependability, confirmability, and transferability measures. Results: The findings revealed that mothers' caregiving motivations could be classified into four main categories: (I) intrinsic, (II) identified-extrinsic, (III) introjected-extrinsic, and (IV) external-extrinsic. Additionally, twelve sub-categories were identified within these four main categories. Conclusion: The findings revealed that mothers demonstrated varying levels of intrinsic and extrinsic motivations in caring for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. By recognizing and enhancing the diverse sources of motivation, healthcare providers and policymakers can better support mothers in their caregiving roles, ultimately contributing to improved outcomes for both the mothers and their children. Complete Basic Immunization is the administration of vaccines to infants aged 0-11 months to prevent infectious diseases. Currently, the Indonesian government's target of 100% basic immunization coverage has not been achieved. Several factors influence the completeness of basic immunization. This research aimed to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge about basic immunization and the fulfillment of basic immunization in Kenjeran district, Surabaya. The research used a cross-sectional approach with purposive sampling technique. The basic immunization knowledge was measured using a questionnaire. Respondents were mothers who had children aged ≤ 6 years. A total of 145 respondents met inclusion criteria. Knowledge was categorized as high (score ≥ 8) and low (score < 8). The level of maternal knowledge about basic immunization was high at 51.7% or 75 respondents. The data for the full basic immunization was obtained from the KIA book (“Buku Kesehatan Ibu dan Anak”). From all respondents there were 78 respondents (53.8%) who have KIA books. From that number, there were 71 respondents (91%) whose their children had received complete basic immunization. There was no correlation between maternal knowledge and the completeness of basic immunization (p=0.127). It is important to also analyze defferent variable to be able to better explaining factors that influence the completeness of basic immunization for children. Background. Having a child dependent on medical technology devices might cause some challenges for parents. Identifying these challenges and producing solutions may significantly contribute to the home care provider. This study aims to examine the correlation between self-efficacy, care burden, and hopelessness of mothers with medical technology-dependent children. Material and methods. This study was conducted using a cross-sectional and correlational design. Between April and July 2023, 164 mothers had at least one child receiving home care and were dependent on a medical technological device. The data were collected using an information form, the general self-efficacy scale, the Burden Scale for Family Caregivers, and the Beck Hopelessness Inventory. Results. It was found that the self-efficacy of mothers with a child dependent on a medical technological device was on the mean, their care burden was above the mean, and their hopelessness was below the mean. As the mothers' self-efficacy increased, their hopelessness and care burden decreased. It was found that the mothers’ self-efficacy significantly predicted their care burden and hopelessness. Conclusions. In the hospital setting, it is necessary to initiate training, counselling, and psychosocial support for the caregivers and the entire family. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the effects of mindfulness-based skill training on stress, cognitive emotion regulation (CER), and mindfulness levels in these mothers. Methods: The study was conducted in Türkiye and is a single-arm, mixed-method feasibility study. Thirty-one mothers were given a 6-week online mindfulness-based group skill training. Although the study started with 43 mothers, it was completed with 31 mothers due to drop-outs (5) and a lack of follow-up (7) measurements and analyses were made. Perceived stress scale (PSS), mindfulness attention awareness scale and CER scale were used in the study. Results: The study had a strong recruitment rate of 71.66%. A statistically significant difference was found in the PSS scores of the participants at the pretest and post-test. There was no statistically significant difference between baseline and follow-ups in the Mindful attention awareness scale score and CER questionnaire score. Conclusion: It can be noted that the mindfulness-based skill training program given online during the COVID-19 period is effective in reducing the stress levels of mothers of children with intellectual disabilities. Purpose: The purpose of the study to determine the prevalence of mother postpartum depression and to examine the association between infant characteristics and postpartum depression in the neonatal intensive care unit. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional survey design was conducted in three government teaching hospitals in Jordan. A convenience sample of 188 mothers with hospitalized 188 infants in NICU was recruited. Questionnaires were used to collect the quantitative data, which include Infant Demographic Data Questionnaire, Mother Demographic Data Questionnaire and Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS). The study revealed that infant characteristics such as gestational age, medical condition classification, and birth weight are found to be significant factors that influence depression among mothers. Results: The results showed that mothers with infants admitted to NICU experience postpartum depression with a mean of 3.82 and median of 4.04. There were significant differences based on gestational age, birth weight, and classification of medical condition and mothers' postpartum depression. Conclusion: Knowing the relationship of certain infant's characteristics and postpartum depression can help to focus on relevant infant characteristics so that timely interventions to improve mothers' well-being can be developed. The aim of this study is to investigate the mediating role of sleep quality in the relationship between multidimensional perceived social support and fatigue among mothers of twin infants. One hundred and six (106) twin mothers participated in this cross-sectional study, who completed the Descriptive Information Form, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and Checklist Individual Strength. The scale score averages of the mothers in the study are as follows: social support, 61.41 ± 23.86; fatigue, 77.64 ± 28.68; and sleep quality, 8.26 ± 2.38. According to the path model, perceived social support has a negative effect on poor sleep quality (p =.001, Beta = −0.411), and poor sleep quality has a positive effect on fatigue (p =.001, Beta = 0.335). Sleep quality also mediates the effect of multidimensional perceived social support on mothers' fatigue levels (p =.001, Beta = −0.138). The study results suggest that the perceived social support and fatigue levels of twin mothers are moderate, while their sleep quality is poor. Little is known about how grandparents influence childcare and mothering practices in developing countries. This is against the backdrop of literature that has documented that when young women become mothers, they receive extensive support and guidance on how to parent their babies from grandparents. This study explored how grandmothers in Lusaka, Zambia, shaped the mothering practices of first-time mothers.The study used an exploratory qualitative descriptive research design. Thirty grandmothers were interviewed independently using a semi-structured interview guide. Results highlighted a wide variation of teachings in the pre-and post-natal phase. At prenatal, Teachings before childbirth was the main theme, with the sub-themes preparing for labor and preserving pregnancy. While at postnatal, teachings after child's birth emerged as the primary theme with sub-themes, caring for the newborn and keeping the baby safe. Grandmother teachings were essential for keeping mother and baby healthy during prenatal and postnatal. Grandmother teachings in both prenatal and postnatal phases were found significant in ensuring the mother and the baby are healthy. These findings underscore the need to involve grandmothers in health programming and interventions to improve maternal and infant health in Zambia. Introduction: The number of women who present this perineal loss is high. Identifying the existing knowledge about the women's experiences and perceptions of pregnancy loss is essential to understand the impact of the phenomenon on women. This identification is also crucial to adapt and improve the healthcare provided. Subjects and Methods: A systematic literature review, meta-synthesis, of qualitative studies will be developed with the goal of obtaining a comprehensive understanding of mothers' perception of pregnancy loss and identifying their specific support needs. Inclusion Criteria: This review will consider qualitative investigations that study the perceptions or experiences of adult women who have suffered prenatal loss. All studies published in English, Spanish or Portuguese between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2022 will be considered. This systematic review will follow the Joanna Briggs Institute statement for systematic reviews of qualitative design. The Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, Scopus, CINAHL®, MEDLINE® and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDRS) databases will be utilized for research. Data extraction will be performed in-peers by the researchers, using the Joanna Briggs Institute model. Finally, the available data will be analysed using a meta-aggregation approach. Conclusion: A better understanding of this phenomenon will be useful, identifying, on the one hand, the support needs of women who have suffered fetal loss and, on the other hand, also identifying the support and interventions that can be implemented by health professionals. Background: Cardiovascular (CV) risk factors can be transmitted from mothers to their children. However, it is challenging to measure and identify subclinical CV risk in young children using traditional CV risk methods and metrics. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility of recruiting mother-child dyads and measuring arterial stiffness (pulse wave velocity, augmentation index/pressure), blood pressure (BP), BP circadian pattern, specifically nocturnal BP dipping, and CV health metrics in mothers and in children aged 1 to 5 years. Methods: All BP and arterial stiffness measures were obtained using the noninvasive automated oscillometric Mobil-O-Graph device. Also measured were blood cholesterol level; glucose level; body mass index (BMI); and smoking, diet, and physical activity history. Descriptive statistics were used for assessing recruitment feasibility and Pearson correlations for mother-child associations. Results: Thirty-five mother-child dyads completed the protocol. Recruitment reach was 89% and retention rate was 80%. Mothers were 34.3 ± 5.4 years old with a mean systolic BP (SBP) of 114.6 ± 9.5 mm Hg and BMI of 26.0 ± 6.5. Children were 3 ± 1.4 years old with a mean SBP of 103.3 ± 9.4 mm Hg and BMI z -scores of −0.3 ± 1.5. Arterial stiffness parameters were within normal ranges for mothers and children. Twenty-three percent of mothers did not exhibit nocturnal dipping (<10% decrease between day and nighttime SBP). Maternal SBP was positively correlated with child BMI z -scores (r = 0.42, P =.022) as well as mother-child augmentation pressure (r = 0.51, P =.010). Background and Objectives: Increasing psychological toughness through resilience training can help improve the mental and physical condition of mothers and ultimately improve the quality of family life. This study was conducted with the aim of determining the effect of resilience training on the stubbornness of mothers with children with cancer who referred to Besat Medical Training Center in Hamadan. Materials and Methods: In this interventional study, 70 mothers with children with cancer were selected in the accessible way and were divided into two control and experimental groups by random assignment. In the test group, 9 sessions of 60-minute resilience training were held for mothers, one session every week at the Besat educational center in Hamadan. Immediately before and one month after the intervention, psychological toughness questionnaire was completed by the mothers. The data were analyzed with chi-square, Kruskal-Wallis, Fisher's exact test, t-test and pair t-test under spss version 23 software at a significance level of 0.05. Results: Intragroup comparison of psychological toughness before and after the intervention showed that this difference was significant in the test group (p=0.000), but not significant in the control group (p=0.350). The intergroup comparison of psychological toughness before and after the intervention in the test and control groups showed that this difference was not significant before the intervention (p=0.429), but after the intervention, this difference was significant (p=0.000). Aim: The study aims to determine the level of family burden and psychological symptoms in mothers who have children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) in Turkey. Methods: The descriptive study was completed with 200 mothers of children with CP. Results: Depression was found in mothers (1.11 ± 0.79) and the Family Burden Assessment Scale (FBAS) mean score was also high (143.71 ± 22.68). A statistically significant difference was found between mothers who received support to care for their children and their level of depression (p = 0.003). A positive and significant relationship was also found between emotional burden and psychiatric symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, negative self-perception, somatization, and hostility (r = 0.458, p = 0.001; r = 0.552, p = 0.001; r = 0.494, p = 0.001; r = 0.376, p = 0.001; r = 0.404, p = 0.001), respectively. A weak and positive relationship was determined between time requirement and psychiatric symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, and negative self-perception (r = 0.166, p = 0.019; r = 0.259, p = 0.001; r = 0.223, p = 0.001, respectively). Conclusion: The main factor affecting depression in caregivers was lack of support. As the mothers' emotional burden increases, their psychiatric symptom scores also increase. In our study, mothers' anxiety, depression, and negative self-perception scores increase as their time requirements increase. Mothers should be supported with certain interventions, such as education and instruction, to meet the necessities while caring for their children. Policymakers should support mothers with low-income levels to ensure that the required services reach their recipients. The paper explores the pivotal role of mothers in maintaining the Lithuanian language within the Lithuanian diaspora, drawing upon Spolsky's family language policy theory and Curdt-Christiansen's dynamic family language policy model. Analyzing data collected in 2011–2013 and 2015–2017, the study investigates various factors shaping family language policy, with a particular focus on the mother's influence. It examines the interplay between the mother's role, emigrants' language ideology, Lithuanian identity, language acquisition, proficiency, and language usage across different domains and emotional dimension of language attitudes. Quantitative analysis, considering respondents' parents' ethnicities, reveals that respondents with Lithuanian mothers exhibit stronger connections to Lithuanian identity, more frequent acquisition of Lithuanian as their first language, higher proficiency, and increased usage of Lithuanian within the family and as an inner language. Moreover, positive language attitudes towards the heritage Lithuanian language are more pronounced among those with Lithuanian mothers. However, emotional attitudes towards language did not significantly differ based on parental ethnicity. Introduction: There is a misperception in society that individuals with visual impairment are asexual and cannot marry, have children, or take care of children. In addition, individuals with visual impairment face difficulties in many aspects of life due to accessibility issues. Although it is expected that visually impaired individuals experience difficulties when having children, very few studies have focused on understanding the challenges women with visual impairment face in the process of having children. The aim of this study was to identify the challenges faced by mothers with visual impairment from preconception through the postpartum period in Turkey. Methods: Semistructured interviews were conducted with a purposive sample of 17 mothers with visual impairment. Participants were from 28 to 38 years of age, and their youngest children were 2 years old or younger. Participants were asked about their experiences with the decision to have children, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Content analysis was used to analyze and present the data. Results: Participants had 1 to 3 children and a mean age of 32.4 years. Eleven themes were identified within 4 periods: preconception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Themes related to the experience of the preconceptional period included concern about the decision to have a child and the social pressure on the decision to have a child. Themes related to the experience of pregnancy included inaccessible pregnancy tests, emotional reactions to pregnancy, dissatisfaction with health care providers, and unmet expectations. Themes related to labor and birth included mixed feelings about labor dissatisfaction with health care providers and unmet expectations. Themes related to the postpartum period included personal care, infant care, reaction of the social network, and unmet expectations. Discussion: The mothers with visual impairment faced many challenges in the process of becoming a parent. This cross-sectional study compared the cognitive flexibility and resilience of mothers with children having specific learning disabilities (SLD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and normal development (ND). The sample comprised 87 mothers (29 in each group). Data were collected using the “Sociodemographic Information Form”, “Cognitive Flexibility Inventory”, and “Resilience Scale for Adults”. Significant differences were found in cognitive flexibility and resilience among the three groups. Mothers of children with ASD had significantly lower cognitive flexibility scores than those with SLD and ND. In terms of resilience, mothers of children with ASD scored lower than mothers of ND children but did not differ significantly from mothers of SLD children. No significant difference was observed in cognitive flexibility and resilience between mothers of children with SLD and those with ND. The study results indicate that mothers of children with ASD are at risk in terms of cognitive flexibility and resilience, highlighting the need for psychosocial intervention programs for these mothers. This study determines the relationship between postpartum mothers' dyadic coping and adjustment strategies and their psychological well-being. The study design was descriptive and correlational; it was conducted in the pediatric outpatient clinic of a maternity hospital in Northern Türkiye. A total of 327 1–12 month postpartum mothers participated in the study. Data were collected using a personal information form, the Dyadic Coping Inventory (DCI), the Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale (RDAS), and the Psychological Well-Being Scale. Mothers' behavior as an individual and as a couple in dyadic coping, their perception of their partner's behavior, and weak dyadic harmony between partners was significantly associated with risk factors affecting mothers' psychological well-being (p < 0.05). A weak relationship was found between the dimensions of mothers' psychological well-being and their perception of their own behavior in dyadic coping; a positive moderate relationship was found between mothers' perception of their partner's behavior in dyadic coping and behaviors exhibited as a couple in dyadic coping, and the former had a weak positive relationship with the dimensions of dyadic harmony and its subdimensions (p < 0.05). Self-perceived coping behavior, perception of the partner's behavior, and joint coping behavior in dyadic coping, and weak dyadic harmony between partners were significant risk factors affecting mothers' psychological well-being. Awareness of these factors by health professionals and individuals will increase the effectiveness of postpartum care and help couples adapt to the transition in the postpartum period, improve mother-father-infant interaction and strengthen dyadic harmony. There is a possible link between maternal vitamin D status in pregnancy and delayed neurocognitive development in the offspring. The aim of the study was to explore the association of maternal and cord blood vitamin D levels with infants’ neurodevelopment at 6 and 9 months of age.A cohort study was conducted in western Rajasthan, India. Maternal and cord blood samples were collected at the time of delivery. Serum 25(OH)-vitamin D levels were measured in both. Infant neurodevelopment was assessed at 6 and 9 months of age in six domains namely cognitive, receptive language, expressive language, fine motor, gross motor and social-emotional using the Bayley Scale of Infant Development- III (BSID-III).A total of 175 mother–child pairs were enrolled. Among the mothers taking part in this study, 7.3% had deficient and 59.09% had insufficient levels of serum 25(OH) vitamin D during the third trimester of their pregnancy. Maternal and cord blood serum 25-OH vitamin D levels were 18.86 ± 8.53 ng/mL and 17.39 ± 8.87 ng/mL, respectively, and there was a significant correlation (r = 0.9778, p = 0.000) between levels of vitamin D. Based on the repeated measures ANOVA, post hoc Tukey’s HSD test, maternal vitamin D levels had a significant relationship (p = 0.047) to the cognitive development of infants at 6 months of age. Furthermore, cord serum vitamin D levels showed a significant association (p = 0.023 and p = 0.010) with the social-emotional development of the infant at the age of 6 and 9 months.Maternal and cord serum 25-OH vitamin D deficiency was significantly associated with the cognitive and social-emotional development of infants. Background: Early initiation of breastfeeding is the initiation of breastfeeding within one hour of birth, which plays a significant role in a born baby's growth and survival, however its prevalence and predictors among urban full-time readymade garments (RMG) working mothers are not investigated. The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence and factors affecting early initiation of breastfeeding among urban RMG working mothers. Methods: A sequential explanatory mixed-methods study was conducted between March 2023 and December 2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. A total of 452 full-time female RMG workers were included for the quantitative study. Qualitative study was carried out among 30 full-time female RMG workers, four female physicians who were employed in the RMGs, four RMG factory managers, and four local pediatricians. Results: The prevalence of early initiation of breastfeeding was 40% among the women. It was significantly associated with various factors, including socio-cultural barriers, the advanced age of the mother (AOR 3.93, 95%CI 1.18, 13.04), lack of education (AOR 6.86, 95%CI 1.11, 42.49), lack of awareness, and cultural practices such as initiating goat milk and honey instead of breast milk. The absence of colostrum feeding (AOR 8.96, 95%CI 4.30, 18.70) and pre-lacteal feeding (AOR 0.06, 95%CI 0.03, 0.11) were significant baby feeding practice-related barriers to early initiation of breastfeeding. Maternal health factors, notably post-delivery sickness, cesarean delivery, and lack of breastmilk production, were revealed as a significant hindrance to the early initiation of breastfeeding explored from qualitative analysis. In addition, RMG factory-related factors that significantly affect early initiation of breastfeeding include a strong focus on production, a busy schedule, and a lack of initiative regarding the early initiation of breastfeeding. Conclusions: The prevalence of early initiation of breastfeeding among RMG working women is poor. This study emphasizes the need for interventions that address specific challenges of early initiation of breastfeeding faced by working mothers in RMG sectors, including improved lactation education, increased awareness to mitigate cultural barriers, RMG factory-based initiatives to empower female workers early initiation of breastfeeding, and preparing early initiation of breastfeeding -friendly post-cesarean unit at the health care facility. Growing evidence indicates that human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) are important bioactive compounds that enhance health and developmental outcomes in breastfed babies. Maternal dietary intake likely contributes to variation in HMO composition, but studies identifying diet–HMO relationships are few and inconsistent. This study aimed to investigate how the maternal intake of macronutrients and micronutrients—specifically proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals—associated with HMOs at 1 month (n = 210), 6 months (n = 131), and 12 months postpartum (n = 84). Several associations between maternal dietary factors and HMO profiles were identified utilizing partial correlation analysis. For example, maternal free sugar (rho = −0.02, p < 0.01), added sugar (rho = −0.22, p < 0.01), and sugary sweetened beverage (rho = −0.22, p < 0.01) intake were negatively correlated with the most abundant HMO, 2′-fucosyllactose (2′-FL), at 1 month, suggesting that higher sugar consumption was associated with reduced levels of 2′-FL. Further, vitamins D, C, K, and the minerals zinc and potassium were positively correlated with 2′-FL at 1 month (pAll < 0.05). For the longitudinal analysis, a mixed-effects linear regression model revealed significant associations between maternal vitamin intake and HMO profiles over time. For example, for each unit increase in niacin intake, there was a 31.355 nmol/mL increase in 2′-FL concentration (p = 0.03). Overall, the results provide additional evidence supporting a role for maternal nutrition in shaping HMO profiles, which may inform future intervention strategies with the potential of improving infant growth and development through optimal HMO levels in mothers' milk. Background: Lifestyle and habits, cardiovascular risk factors (CRF), bone and mental health, dietary habits, physical activity, among others are developed in childhood and adolescence. Family environment has shown to play an important role in these outcomes. However, whether the parent-child relationship lifestyle habits and health parameters can be influenced by physical activity patterns still unclear. The objective of this study will be to monitor and investigate the associations between lifestyle habits between parents and their children longitudinally, as well as verify whether in more active parents, the possible associations with lifestyle habits are different from those of parents considered less active. Methods: The sample will consist of parents (father, mother, or both) and their children /adolescents. The participants will be recruited through public call by flyers spread across all the regions of the city and also through social media. The health parameters will include cardiovascular (cardiac autonomic modulation, blood pressure and resting heart rate), bone mineral density, anthropometric indices, handgrip strength, mental health (quality of life, anxiety and depression symptoms and stress), self-reported morbidities and musculoskeletal pain. Lifestyle habits will include physical activity levels, sedentary behavior, sleep parameters, eating patterns, smoking and alcohol consumption. Sociodemographic variables of age, sex, ethnicity and socioeconomic status will be considered as covariates. The follow-up visits of data collection will be scheduled after a period of 12 months from the baseline assessment during every twelve months. Discussion: The family environment has great potential to determine lifestyle habits in children and adolescents. Mother-baby pairs referred to the Anni Bergman Parent-Infant Outreach Program, in New York, are offered clinical services in urgent circumstances. Mothers are typically contending with crises stemming from poverty, loss, mental illness, and the various forms of social neglect, abuse, and racism built into New York City's legal, educational, and foster-care systems. While dyadic interventions aim to develop parents' attunement and reflective functioning towards their babies, the nature of the trauma these mothers have endured often shuts down the critical functions necessary for growth and change. In fact, aspects of their psychic life, in a unique survival mode, actively foreclose on new ways of relating; rather they remain tethered to early trauma with varied levels of representation. For example, the mother whom I write about in this paper, Janine, was transfixed by her own birth history in a way that preserved the force of her earliest pain and occluded the reality of her baby. A central therapeutic question is how to find a way into a mother's closed system and build upon her healthy, loving wishes to care for her child. BACKGROUND: Vitamin D deficiency has been suggested to be a risk factor for neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). This study aimed to evaluate the effect of 25 (OH) D administrations in pregnant women with findings of preterm labor on the incidence of RDS in their preterm neonates. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted on pregnant mothers with gestational age (GA) of less than 34 weeks at risk of preterm delivery. 175 subjects were randomly assigned into two groups, including intervention (intramuscular injection of 50,000 units of 25(OH) D during 72 hours before delivery) and control (no injections). Serum concentrations of 25(OH) D were measured shortly after birth in both mothers and neonates. Then, clinical and laboratory results of mothers and their offspring were recorded (in a checklist). Short-term outcomes and the need for respiratory support were also assessed. Data were analyzed by independent t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, Fisher's exact test, and chi-square test. RESULTS: Even though gestational age, birth weight, delivery method, and serum vitamin D levels are consistent among both groups, 45% of neonates in the control group and 20% in the intervention group developed respiratory distress syndrome (P = 0.05). The mean 25(OH) D level in neonates was 17.7±10.5 and 19.29±9.94 ng/mL in the intervention and control groups, respectively (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: A single dose of 50,000 units of intramuscular 25(OH)D in pregnant women at risk of preterm labor can lower the risk of RDS in the infant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
