The food safety strategies of companies are a key point in the reduction of food safety risks. In order to encourage the evolution of food safety strategies of companies from food fraud to safety investment, this study builds an evolutionary game model, taking large and small companies as participants, to reveal the dynamic process of spillover effects influencing the choice of food safety strategies of companies. The study shows that (1) the food safety strategies of companies change from safety investment to food fraud, along with the increasing opportunity costs of safety investment. (2) The costs structure of small companies mainly determines whether the industry reaches the equilibrium of safety investment, while the costs structure of large companies mainly determines whether the industry reaches the equilibrium of food fraud. (3) Both competition effects and contagion effects encourage companies to choose safety investment. The more obvious spillover effects of incidents on food safety are, the more likely it is that companies will choose safety investments. (4) Increasing the costs to companies for incidents on food safety and reducing the opportunity cost of safety investment motivates companies to choose safety investment. Consequently, a new orientation of regulations for food safety is formed: the government should allocate different regulatory resources to counteract food fraud behaviors or technologies with a different benefit, should increase the technical costs and costs incurred from committing acts of food fraud, and should expand spillover effects of incidents on food safety.

Shot peen forming is a process widely used to shape aircraft components such as wing skins, yet its fundamental working is still crudely understood. It is understood that a light conventional peen forming treatment applied uniformly over an initially flat plate will induce isotropic in‐plane stretching of the surface layer and will thus lead to a panel curving with identical curvatures in all directions. However, [1] made the startling observation that uniformly peen formed aluminium plates of different aspect ratios all bent along their laminating direction irrespective of the peening direction. This experimental result is counterintuitive because the residual stresses due to the lamination process are 1 order to 2 orders of magnitude smaller than those induced by the shot peen forming treatment. In the present study, we apply the eigenstrain theory to estimate the effect of the different sources of anisotropy on uniformly peen formed aluminium plates. Potential sources of anisotropy included the plastic anisotropy of rolled aluminium, nonequibiaxial initial stresses that redistribute when their equilibrium is disturbed by peening, the geometry of the specimens and externally applied prestress. For the alloy and peening conditions considered, we show that plastic anisotropy had no discernible influence on the resulting shape of the peen formed specimens. Initial residual stresses, on the other hand, caused slightly larger bending loads in the rolling direction of the alloy. Although the magnitude of these loads was approximately 30 times smaller than peening‐induced loads, it was sufficient to overcome the geometric preference for rectangular sheets to bend along their long side and cause all unconstrained specimens to bend along the rolling direction instead. Our analysis highlights the importance of the history of the material that is being peened. Sucrose synthase (SUS) is one of the most important enzymes catalysing the synthesis and cleavage of sucrose, and it also plays a crucial role in multiple plant biological processes. However, SUS has been scarcely reported in banana which accumulates large amounts of starch in its fruit. In this genome-wide study on banana, nine SUS genes were identified in each of the two subgenomes (A and B) for the first time, which were clustered into three distinct groups. Those in the group II underwent further duplications. In the transcriptome analysis of Baxijiao (BX, AAA) and Fenjiao (FJ, ABB) banana, four MaSUSs (MaSUS-2.1, -2.2, -2.3, and -3.2) and five MbSUSs (MbSUS-2.1, -2.2, -2.3, -2.4, and -3.2) were expressed during fruit development, with MaSUS2.2/MbSUS2.2 being the most highly expressed. Transient overexpression of MaSUS2.2 resulted in a significant increase in its transcription, which was consistent with significantly enhanced starch content in banana fruits. Its function was further identified by its transient silencing expression in banana fruit discs, which led to a significant reduction in total starch content. Researchers have struggled to find rational risk factors that explain momentum profits derived from buying recent winners and shorting recent losers. Behavioral explanations have been offered that focus on the tendencies of investors to underreact to news and recommendations. Our study provides an alternative explanation centered on the behavior of sell-side analysts. We find a change in consensus recommendation from a hold to a buy is accompanied by an increase in momentum profits of 3.40% annually. Momentum profits fall, yet remain material, after the passage of Reg FD and the enactment of the Global Analyst Research Settlement. Our results support a behavioral explanation of investor cognitive biases fueled by analyst regency and optimism biases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Incorporating risk into the capital budgeting process is a standard part of financial decision making. This article shows how the certainty equivalent and the risk adjusted discount rate approach convert to one another. Although theoretically the two approaches are different and many studies in the literature argue that the certainty equivalent is superior to the risk adjusted discount rate approach, it is shown the methods are mathematically equivalent if inputs are properly measured.
