Objective: To explore the scientific evidence regarding the leprosy patients quality of life. Method: Scoping review according to the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology, with articles indexed in PubMed, Cochrane, LILACS, Embase, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, PsyINFO, INFOLEP, and Google Scholar databases, published in full in Portuguese, English, or Spanish. Results: Seventy-four studies were identified, with 71 of quantitative approach and 3 with a mixed method. There was a predominance of studies published in Brazil (58.1%), with an adult population, (97.3%) and recruited in reference centers for the treatment of leprosy (52.7%). There was greater use of the WHOQOL-bref (50%) and SF-36 (18.9%) instruments to assess quality of life. The study showed that the greatest impairment in quality of life was related to the delay in the diagnosis of the disease, to leprosy reactions, physical disabilities, neuropathic pain, and stigma. Conclusion: Most studies were developed in endemic countries, with adults, and based on observational studies, and the worst scores obtained were associated with physical domain impairment. RESUMEN Objetivo: Explotar las evidencias científicas con relación a la calidad de vida de pacientes con lepra. Método: revisión de alcance según la metodología del Instituto Joanna Briggs, con artículos indexados en las bases de datos PubMed, Cochrane, LILACS, Embase, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, PsyINFO, INFOLEP y Google Scholar, publicados integralmente en portugués, inglés o español. Resultados: se identificaron 74 estudios, entre los cuales 71 fueron de abordaje cualitativo y 3 con método mixto. Predominaron estudios publicados en Brasil (58,1%), con población adulta (97,3%) y convocada en centros de referencia para tratamiento de lepra (52,7%). Se verificó mayor utilización de los instrumentos WHOQOL-bref (50%) y SF-36 (18,9%) para evaluación de la calidad de vida. El estudio mostró que los factores que más afectaron la calidad de vida fueron el retraso en el diagnóstico de la enfermedad, las reacciones leprosas, las discapacidades físicas, el dolor neuropatico y el estigma. Consideraciones Finales: las investigaciones fueron desarrolladas en gran parte en países endémicos, con adultos y a partir de estudios de observación, por lo que los peores resultados obtenidos se asociaron a las complicaciones del dominio físico. Verificou-se maior utilização dos instrumentos WHOQOL-bref (50%) e SF-36 (18,9%) para avaliação da qualidade de vida. O estudo evidenciou que o maior comprometimento da qualidade de vida se relacionou ao atraso no diagnóstico da doença, às reações hansênicas, às incapacidades físicas, à dor neuropática e ao estigma. Conclusão: as pesquisas foram desenvolvidas em sua maioria em países endêmicos, com adultos e a partir de estudos observacionais, sendo que os piores escores obtidos se associaram ao comprometimento do domínio físico.

Background Significant evidence has pointed out the positive impact of caring with love. Nurses are the healthcare professionals whose love gives a self–sacrificing spirit. However, little is still know about how lack of affection and unhealthy social ties affects Nurses in the work environment. This study sought to explore the association between affection, social ties and work environment. Methods Descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional study conducted with 36 Nurses of a private hospital in a city of Porto, Portugal. The ‘Fantastic Lifestyle’ and ‘Nursing Practice Work Environment’ scales, adapted and validated to the Portuguese population, with good internal consistency and reliability, were applied. The study was conducted between February and March 2020. Statistical analyses were performed through SPSS. Results Female nurses (80.6%), single (61.1%) and with an average age of 29 years (SD = 5.15) prevailed. 94.4% almost always have someone to talk to about important matters and 88.9% report that they almost always gave and received affection. Weak social ties negatively affect the perception that doctors and nurses have a good working relationship (χ2 = 8.145; P = 0.043) and collaboration (χ2 = 8.145; P = 0.043), resulting in a depreciation of colleagues skills (χ2 = 8.603; P = 0.014). Lack of affection negatively affects the perception of doctors and nurses collaboration (χ2 = 17.708; P = 0.001), the updating of nursing care plans (χ2 = 9.267; P = 0.008) and the relevance of nursing diagnosis applicability (χ2 = 7.650; P = 0.022). Conclusions Findings encourage the need to pay attention to nurses’ affection level and social ties strengthen, once the imbalance of one of these dimensions negatively influences the quality of work environment, impacting the quality of health care provided.

Background Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease that leads to a limitation of mobility, which can cause postural deficits and progressive loss of balance. Aquatic exercise improves this health condition. The objetive is to verify the influence of an aquatic exercise program, on balance and functionality, in individuals with AS. Methods Pre-experimental study carried out on 6 individuals with AS. All individuals were assessed at baseline (M0) and 12 weeks after the intervention (M1) using the Bath indices (BASMI, BASFI and BASDAI) and the balance assessment protocol (‘Body Sway’) by the Physiosensing Platform. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 26. Were used descriptive statistics and Wilcoxon test to compare M0 and M1. The significance value was 0.05. Results We verify improvements in BASMI (P = 0.046), BASFI (P = 0.042) and BASDAI (P = 0.027) scores. Through the analysis of the center of pressure variables, there were no statistically significant differences, between moments, in the protocol. However, when assessing balance, in the anteroposterior mean distance in both the protocol (eyes open) and in the protocol (eyes closed), in the root mean square in both protocols and in mediolateral mean velocity, only in the protocol (eyes open), there was a slight decrease in the median value. Conclusions The present study suggests that the specific aquatic exercise program, may influence balance and improve functionality in a population with AS. Therefore, the Bath indices translate improvements in the symptoms and functionalities of these participants.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the postharvest conservation of fruits of three strawberry accessions (NP4, NP9, NP15) under two storage conditions, comparing them with the fruits of cv. Oso Grande (control treatment). The fruits, with 75% of their surface with red color, were harvested, selected and placed in PET containers with lid and stored under ambient conditions (20±3 °C and 81±7% relative humidity) and under refrigeration (5± 1 ºC and 90±4% relative humidity). During the 11 days of storage, the following evaluations were carried out: total soluble solids (TSS), total titratable acidity (TTA), TSS/TTA ratio, pH and the loss of mass of fruits kept under different storage conditions. Under environmental conditions, the maximum longevity of the fruits was three days and the best preservation was observed in the fruits of the NP9 strawberry tree. Under refrigeration, the longevity of the fruits extended until the 11th day, when the fruits of the NP9 and NP15 access strawberries exhibited better characteristics when compared to the fruits of NP4 and 'Oso Grande', thus representing a new option for growing fruits for consumption in natura for producers in southern Minas Gerais. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar la conservación poscosecha de frutos de tres accesiones de fresa (NP4, NP9, NP15) bajo dos condiciones de almacenamiento, comparándolas con los frutos del cv. Oso Grande (tratamiento testigo). Los frutos, con 75% de su superficie de color rojo, fueron cosechados, seleccionados y empacados en envases de PET con tapa y almacenados en condiciones ambientales (20±3 °C y 81±7% de humedad relativa) y en refrigeración (5 ± 1 oC y 90±4% de humedad relativa). Durante los 11 días de almacenamiento se realizaron las siguientes evaluaciones: sólidos solubles totales (SST), acidez titulable total (TTA), relación SST/ATT, pH y pérdida de peso de frutos mantenidos en diferentes condiciones de almacenamiento. En condiciones ambientales, la máxima longevidad de los frutos fue de tres días y la mejor conservación se observó en los frutos de la accesión de fresa NP9. Bajo refrigeración, la longevidad de los frutos se prolongó hasta el día 11, donde los frutos de fresa accesión NP9 y NP15 exhibieron mejores características al compararlos con los frutos de NP4 y 'Oso Grande', representando así una nueva opción de cultivo de frutos para consumo .in natura para productores del sur de Minas Gerais. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a conservação pós-colheita de frutos de três acessos de morangueiro (NP4, NP9, NP15) em duas condições de armazenamento, comparando-os com os frutos da cv. Oso Grande (tratamento controle). Os frutos, com 75% de sua superfície com coloração vermelha, foram colhidos, selecionados e acondicionados em embalagens pet com tampa e armazenados em condições ambiente (20±3 °C e 81±7% de umidade relativa) e sob refrigeração (5±1 oC e 90±4% de umidade relativa). Durante os 11 dias de armazenamento, foram realizadas as seguintes avaliações: teores de sólidos solúveis totais (SST), acidez total titulável (ATT), relação SST/ATT, pH e a perda de massa dos frutos mantidos nas diferentes condições de armazenamento. Sob condição ambiente, a longevidade máxima dos frutos foi de três dias e a melhor preservação foi observada nos frutos do morangueiro de acesso NP9. Sob refrigeração, a longevidade dos frutos se estendeu até o 11º dia, onde os frutos dos morangueiros de acesso NP9 e NP15 exibiram melhores características quando comparados aos frutos de NP4 e ‘Oso Grande’, representando assim uma nova opção de cultivo de frutos para consumo in natura para os produtores do sul de Minas Gerais.

Dentre as pequenas frutas, o morango é o pseudofruto mais comercializado no mundo. A cada ano, o Brasil vem aumentando sua produção, porém é dependente de cultivares desenvolvidas por programas de melhoramento estrangeiras. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar três acessos de morangueiro desenvolvidos por produtor rural, nas condições edafoclimáticas do sul de Minas Gerais, analisando seu potencial agronômico. Foram avaliados produção precoce e total, número de frutos, diâmetro (mm), comprimento (mm), peso (g), teor de sólidos solúveis totais (°Brix). Conclui-se que o potencial agronômico dos acessos NP9 e NP15 são equivalentes e em algumas características superiores a cultivar ‘Oso Grande’, podendo ser recomendada para plantio nas condições do sul de Minas Gerais, após seu registro junto ao MAPA, reduzindo a dependência de cultivares de origem estrangeira e suas implicações.

Conventional lung auscultation is essential in the management of respiratory diseases. However, detecting adventitious sounds outside medical facilities remains challenging. We assessed the feasibility of lung auscultation using the smartphone built-in microphone in real-world clinical practice. We recruited 134 patients (median[interquartile range] 16[11–22.25]y, 54% male, 31% cystic fibrosis, 29% other respiratory diseases, 28% asthma, 12% no respiratory diseases) at the Pediatrics and Pulmonology departments of a tertiary hospital. First, clinicians performed conventional auscultation with analog stethoscopes at 4 locations (trachea, right anterior chest, right and left lung bases), and documented any adventitious sounds. Then, smartphone auscultation was recorded twice in the same four locations. The recordings (n = 1060) were classified by two annotators. Seventy-three percent of recordings had quality (obtained in 92% of the participants), with the quality proportion being higher at the trachea (82%) and in the children’s group (75%). Adventitious sounds were present in only 35% of the participants and 14% of the recordings, which may have contributed to the fair agreement between conventional and smartphone auscultation (85%, k = 0.35(95% CI 0.26–0.44)). Our results show that smartphone auscultation was feasible, but further investigation is required to improve its agreement with conventional auscultation.

Aim To develop a systematic review protocol on the prevalence and/or the incidence of pressure ulcers/injuries in adult patients in emergency services. Materials and methods This protocol was developed according to the Preferred Reporting Items Form Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P) and the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology for systematic reviews of prevalence and incidence studies. The inclusion criteria will be based on the CoCoPop mnemonic. The main variables of interest will be the “prevalence” and/or the “incidence” of “pressure ulcers/injuries” (Condition) reported in studies developed in emergency services (Context), with participants aged 18 or more (Population). This Systematic Review Protocol was registered in PROSPERO (CDR42021252906). Results If meta-analysis is not possible, the syntheses of quantitative data will be presented in a narrative form to address the scope and objectives of this systematic review. Tables, graphs and/or figures will be designed to present the results of the prevalence and the incidence of pressure ulcers/injuries, their body locations and the respective categories/stages. The Systematic Review is currently ongoing. Conclusions Prevalence and incidence systematic reviews are an emerging methodology in the field of evidence synthesis. We believe that the systematic review on prevalence and incidence of pressure ulcers/injuries in emergency services can provide useful information for healthcare professionals and policy makers about the dimension of this problem in a specific context. The standardized approach outlined in this systematic review protocol offers a rigorous and transparent method to conduct the review.

IgM againstMycobacterium lepraemay be detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) based on phenolic glycolipid I (PGL-I) or natural disaccharide octyl bovine serum albumin (ND-O-BSA) as antigens, and the IgG response can be detected by an ELISA based on lipid droplet protein 1 (LID-1). The titers of antibodies against these antigens vary with operational classification. The aim of this study was to compare the accuracy of ELISAs involving PGL-I and ND-O-BSA with that involving LID-1. We included studies that analyze multibacillary and paucibacillary leprosy cases and evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of ELISAs based on LID-1 and/or PGL-I or ND-O-BSA as antigens to measure antibody titers againstM. leprae. Studies were found via PubMed, the Virtual Health Library Regional Portal, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, Índice Bibliográfico Espanhol de Ciências de Saúde, the Brazilian Society of Dermatology, National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, Cochrane Library, Embase (the Elsevier database), and Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature. The Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies served as a methodological validity tool. Quantitative data were extracted using the Standards for Reporting of Diagnostic Accuracy. Sensitivity, specificity, and a diagnostic odds ratio were calculated, and a hierarchical summary receiver-operating characteristic curve and forest plots were constructed. The protocol register code for this meta-analysis is PROSPERO 2017: CRD42017055983. Nineteen studies were included. ND-O-BSA showed better overall performance in terms of sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative likelihood ratios, and diagnostic odds ratio when compared with PGL-I and LID-1. The multibacillary group showed better performance on these parameters (than the paucibacillary group did), at 94%, 99%, 129, 0.05, and 2293, respectively. LID-1 did not provide any advantage regarding the overall estimate of sensitivity in comparison with PGL-I or ND-O-BSA.

This chapter is focused on the massive potential and increasing interest on Fluorinated Ionic Liquids (FILs) as task-specific materials. FILs are a specific family of ionic liquids, with fluorine tags equal or longer than four carbon atoms, that share and improve the properties of both traditional ionic liquids and perfluoro surfactants. These compounds have unique properties such as three nanosegregated domains, a great surfactant power, chemical/biological inertness, easy recovery and recyclability, low surface tension, extreme surface activity, high gas solubility, negligible vapour pressure, null flammability, and high thermal stability. These properties allied to the countless possible combinations between cations and anions allow the design and development of FILs with remarkable properties to be used in specific applications. In this review, we highlight not only the unique thermophysical, surfactant and toxicological properties of these fluorinated compounds, but also their application as task-specific materials in many fields of interest, including biomedical applications, as artificial gas carries and drug delivery systems, as well as solvents for separations in engineering processes.

O presente texto pretende partilhar a experiência de reestruturação da Unidade Curricular de Prática de Ensino Supervisionada, do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, de uma escola de formação de professores do norte de Portugal. Esta Unidade Curricular está organizada em duas componentes: Intervenção em contexto educativo e Relatório Final com componente investigativa no último semestre do curso. O encerramento das escolas devido à pandemia provocada pelo SARS-CoV-2 trouxe um conjunto de desafios às professoras e alunas de Prática de Ensino Supervisionada que exigiu a adaptação do modelo em vigor. Esta situação evidenciou a necessidade das estudantes (i) iniciarem o trabalho investigativo numa fase mais precoce e (ii) desenvolverem competências digitais que permitam adaptar-se a novas situações de ensino/aprendizagem. Neste sentido, as alunas foram desafiadas a planificar aulas com componente síncrona e assíncrona e a produzir recursos educativos digitais com o objetivo de desenvolver a sua prática de forma não presencial. Considera-se, portanto, que a situação epidemiológica constituiu uma oportunidade de reflexão colaborativa e de mudança de práticas. ABSTRACT: This text intends to share the restructuring experience of the Supervised Teaching Practice Curricular Unit, in the Master in Pre-School and Primary Teaching Education, of a teacher training school in the North of Portugal. This Course Unit is organized into two components: Intervention in an educational context and Final Report with an investigative component in the last semester of the course. The closure of schools due to the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 brought a set of challenges to teachers and students of Supervised Teaching Practice that required the adaptation of the current model. This situation highlighted the need for students (i) to start investigative work at an earlier stage and (ii) to develop digital skills that allow them to adapt to new teaching/learning situations. The students were challenged to plan classes with a synchronous and asynchronous component and to produce digital educational resources with the objective of developing their practice in a non-presential way. Introduction This is a case-control study aiming to analyze the predictive factors for the occurrence of leprosy in contacts under 15 years of age, considering aspects related to the socio-environmental and epidemiological conditions in a hyperendemic municipality. Methods Cases (n = 30) consisted of children with leprosy who were household contacts of adults notified with leprosy between 2016 and 2018. The controls (n = 128) comprised neighborhood contacts, without symptoms of leprosy, living within a radius of less than 100 m of the households with cases. Demographic, social, environmental, and epidemiological variables were analyzed. The software SPSS, version 20, was used. Odds Ratio and statistical significance level of p ≤ 0.05 were considered for association analysis. In the logistic regression analysis, the variables with results ≤20% were selected. Results After adjustments, the predictive variables for the occurrence of leprosy were age between 8 and 14 years (OR adjust = 4.5; 95% CI: 1.70; 12.18) and a family history of leprosy (OR adjust = 5.2; 95% CI: 1.95; 14.13). Conclusions The predictive factors studied may favor the occurrence of leprosy in those most vulnerable to this disease in the child population; strategies such as the use of immune chemoprophylaxis are recommended, especially in hyperendemic regions, such as the state of Mato Grosso.

Universidade de Lisboa Este trabalho visou aprofundar os conhecimentos associados à área dos produtos da pesca, navios de produção primária e estabelecimentos do setor alimentar, à vastíssima legislação aplicável nesta matéria e aos procedimentos necessários para a aprovação dos estabelecimentos e navios, na área da pesca e produtos da pesca, bem como a elaboração e execução dos planos de controlo dos mesmos, vistorias, consequentes autos de vistoria e, naturalmente, na ótica das entidades controladas, o esforço para dar cumprimento às exigências legais. Neste contexto, estudou-se a atividade do controlo oficial de estabelecimentos aprovados, nomeadamente a sequencialidade do licenciamento e aprovação de um estabelecimento e do posterior controlo oficial em cumprimento dos Planos Oficiais de Controlo. Este estudo inseriu-se nas atividades da Direção Geral de Alimentação e Veterinária – DGAV, que é a Autoridade Competente para a aprovação e controlo dos estabelecimentos. Adicionalmente, o funcionamento de uma entidade controlada, a DOCAPESCA, na lota de Peniche, também foi alvo de estudo e caracterização. Junto do operador económico, foi possível constatar as dificuldades sentidas pelas entidades controladas para criar condições para o cumprimento da legislação que está em permanente atualização. A boa vontade do operador em cumprir regras definidas pela legislação, aliada aos controlos regulares, canalizam a evolução no sentido da melhoria das condições de produção de géneros alimentícios de origem animal, aumentando deste modo a segurança dos mesmos, o que pode determinar situações importantes, como a possibilidade de exportar para países terceiros, a bonificação de taxas ou, em caso desfavorável, a suspensão de atividades ou encerramento do estabelecimento N/A

Biofumigation involves the release of volatile biocidal compounds in the soil through the incorporation of certain plants and their residues. Species of the Brassicaceae family are the most widely used plants for biofumigation. These plants contain glucosinolates, which produce compounds, such as isothiocyanates, following enzymatic hydrolysis, with scientifically proven fungicidal effects. The most commonly used brassica species belong to the genera Brassica, Raphanus, Sinapis, and Eruca. In addition to the release of compounds in the soil, complementary mechanisms, such as the supply of organic matter and nutrients, and improvement of the soil structure, also play a role in biofumigation. In the past two decades, several studies on the use of brassica residues in biofumigation have been published, showing promising results in the management of soil pathogens (fungi and oomycetes, nematodes, bacteria, and protozoa), weed seeds, and insects. Usage of new biofumigation compounds has also been validated in recent years, including the development of patented technological products such as liquid formulations and pellets. The objective of this article was to review these new developments, beginning with concepts related to biofumigation, and to discuss the mechanisms of action of compounds involving brassica species and the recommendations on usage. Promising examples of the use of this technique are also presented, further detailing the advances in basic and applied knowledge on the subject.

Os palheiros do litoral central português são exemplo de construção integral em madeira. A sua origem prende-se com a necessidade de armazenamento de artefactos relacionados com a pesca e de abrigo aos pescadores durante a época da safra. Estas edificações transportam consigo a história dos pescadores que procuravam novos locais para largar as suas redes. Com o passar dos anos, o seu carácter funcional é ultrapassado, passando a ser habitação sazonal para os veraneantes. Localizados na costa portuguesa, com diferentes formas, materialidades e modos de construir distintos, poucos são os que mantêm a traça original. Os palheiros ainda existentes são exemplo de um processo evolutivo quer a nível urbano quer a nível social quer a nível construtivo. Com a dificuldade económica do sector piscatório e o surgimento de novos materiais disponíveis, a madeira deixou de ser a escolha predominante. Os palheiros foram abandonados ou substituídos, parcial ou integralmente, por construções de alvenaria. Estas construções ficaram sujeitas à vontade e gosto dos proprietários, dependendo deles as construções do nosso país. A Praia da Tocha, pequena aldeia piscatória pertencente ao concelho de Cantanhede, é exemplo dessa diversidade de materialidades, onde a grande maioria dos palheiros originais foram destruídos. Alguns mantêm-se até à actualidade, no entanto, poucos são os que se encontram em bom estado de conservação. O presente trabalho procurou especular como intervir num palheiro, já alterado, integrado num ambiente urbano em mudança. The palheiros of the central coast portuguese are an example of integral wood construction. Its origin relates to the need for storage of articles related to fishing and shelter for fishermen during the season. This buildings carry with them the history of fishermen who were looking for new places to fish. Over the years, its functional character of satisfaction of needs is outdated and, at present, the palheiros are holiday houses. Located on the portuguese coast, in different ways, materiality and different ways of building, few are the ones who maintain the original aspect. The still palheiros are an example of an evolutionary process both at the social and construction level. With the economic difficulty of the fishing sector and the emergence of new materials available, wood is no longer the predominant choice. The palheiros are abandoned or replaced, partially or entirely, by construction of other materials. These buildings are subject to the will and taste of the owners, depending on them this type of architecture of our country. Praia da Tocha, a small fishing village belonging to the municipality of Cantanhede, is an example of this diversity of materiality where the vast majority of the original palheiros were destroyed. Some remain until today, however, few are those who are in good condition. The present work especially as to intervene in Palheiro, already altered, integrated in a changing urban environment.

In this work, the potentiality of 14 ionic liquids (ILs) and 7 deep eutectic solvents (DESs) for CO2 capture was examined using soft-SAFT as a modeling tool for the screening of these solvents based on key process indicators, namely, cyclic working capacity, enthalpy of desorption, and CO2 diffusion coefficient. Once the models were assessed versus experimental data, soft-SAFT was used as a predictive tool to calculate the thermophysical properties needed for evaluating their performance. Results demonstrate that under the same operating conditions, ILs have a far superior performance than DESs primarily in terms of amount of CO2 captured, being at least two-folds more than that captured using DESs. The screening tool revealed that among all the examined solvents and conditions, [C4 py][NTf2] is the most promising solvent for physical CO2 capture. The collection of the acquired results confirms the reliability of the soft-SAFT EoS as an attractive and valuable screening tool for CO2 capture and process modeling. publishersversion published

Objetivo: compreender a influência da comunicação enquanto instrumento básico de Enfermagem na promoção da dignidade em Cuidados Paliativos. Método: reflexão teórica mediante revisão da literatura e com recurso ao Modelo da Dignidade de Chochinov. A pesquisa de artigos científicos foi realizada na biblioteca do conhecimento online, na base de dados das publicações Elsevier e na plataforma agregadora de bases de dados EBSCO Host Web, publicados durante o período 2010-2016. Resultados: identificou-se intervenções associadas às competências comunicacionais dos enfermeiros que promovem a dignidade dos clientes em cuidados paliativos. As intervenções comunicacionais que mais promovem a dignidade são as que transmitem ao cliente paliativo o respeito pela sua individualidade e valorização da sua história pessoal. Conclusão: o enfermeiro deve adotar uma postura de compreensão empática, escuta ativa, disponibilidade, atenção às necessidades emocionais, aos componentes não verbais (como a presença física e o contacto visual), à gestão de expectativas e o incentivo do autocuidado.Descritores: Enfermagem. The current study was developed to evaluate agronomic efficiency and food security of isolated or simultaneous use of two residues—steel slag and fresh or composted poultry litter—in the cultivation of broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica). The composition and contribution of toxic and potentially toxic metals by different treatments and contents, translocation, and accumulation of Pb, Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn in different plant organs were analyzed. Then, risks to human health associated with consumption of inflorescences were based on the indices of estimated daily intake, noncarcinogenic target hazard quotient, total hazard index (THI), and carcinogenic risk factor (CR), considering adults and children. Steel slag was similar to limestone in terms of the corrective effect of acidity and, despite containing toxic metals, it did not contribute to their higher translocation to inflorescences. Composting favored the concentrations of Pb, Cu, and Zn in poultry litter. The combined use of steel slag and fresh poultry litter and, mainly, composted poultry litter, favored absorption and translocation of Pb for inflorescences, that is, 60.37% and 66.13% of all Pb absorbed, respectively. Consumption of inflorescences from these treatments resulted in the critical THI values of 1.03 and 1.52, respectively, with Pb and Cd being the metals that mostly contributed to the risk. The registered CR was higher than the threshold level of 10−6. The use of steel slag associated with poultry litter favors contamination of broccoli inflorescences and increases risks to human health due to their consumption.

BACKGROUND Leprosy contacts are sensitive indicator of the magnitude of severity, and a high risk for infection and disease, especially if the individuals are exposed to the bacillus with multibacillary cases, which reinforces the need for chemoprophylactic measures, such as the use single-dose rifampicin (SDR) combined with BCG vaccine. OBJECTIVE Our study will analyze the serological response of anti-NDO-LID, HO-1/HMOX and serum IFN-γ concentration as a prophylactic measure after the use of single-dose rifampicin (SDR) combined with the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine (BCG) among multibacillary leprosy household contacts. METHODS Intervention study based on a prospective cohort of household contacts of new cases of multibacillary leprosy diagnosed and registered in the Information System on Diseases of Compulsory Declaration (SINAN – Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação) and residents in the municipalities of Cuiabá and Cáceres, Mato Grosso, in the years 2019 and 2020. Contacts with no signs and symptoms compatible with the disease of the intervention group will receive single-dose rifampicin (SDR) combined with BCG vaccine and will be compared to the control group. The follow-up of the cohort will last 12 months. The analyses of the anti-NDO-LID, HO-1/HMOX and serum concentration of IFN-γ tests as immunological markers before, 6 and 12 months after the intervention will be conducted in a reference laboratory (FIOCRUZ). RESULTS The study is still recruiting participants and is expected to be completed in September 2020. CONCLUSIONS Our study seeks to analyze the response of anti-NDO-LID, HO-1/HMOX tests and serum IFN-γ concentration as a prophylactic measure after the use of single-dose rifampicin (SDR) combined with the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine (BCG) in home contacts of multibacillary leprosy cases. Em 2016 as guidelines da Sociedade Europeia de Cardiologia introduziram um novo grupo na classificação dos doentes com Insuficiência Cardíaca - Insuficiência Cardíaca com Fração de Ejeção Intermédia (HFmrEF) - correspondendo aos doentes com Fração de Ejeção (FEVE) entre 40% e 49%. A criação desta nova categoria, intermédia aos dois grupos pré-existentes, Insuficiência Cardíaca com Fração de Ejeção Reduzida (HFrEF) e Insuficiência Cardíaca com Fração de Ejeção Preservada (HFpEF), pretendia promover a investigação deste grupo onde se incluem até 25% dos doentes com Insuficiência Cardíaca. Nesta revisão pretendemos sumariar a evidência atual sobre HFmrEF e discutir o fundamento desta distinção. Genericamente, os doentes com HFmrEF apresentam características clínicas intermédias entre os dois grupos pré-existentes referidos. A doença cardíaca isquémica destaca-se como a característica onde estes doentes mais se aproximam dos doentes com HFrEF. Em termos de prognóstico e resposta ao tratamento, HFmrEF parece assemelhar-se mais aos doentes com HFrEF, sugerindo que a etiologia será mais importante que a FEVE na estratificação. Alguns estudos têm mostrado benefício no uso de fármacos atualmente recomendados para os doentes com HFrEF em doentes com HFmrEF. É necessária investigação adicional, não só para caracterizar melhor este grupo de doentes, mas também para perceber quais as estratégias terapêuticas mais adequadas. In 2016, the European Society of Cardiology guidelines introduced a new group in the classification of patients with Heart Failure - Heart Failure with Mid-range ejection fraction- corresponding to patients with Left-Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF) between 40% and 49%. The creation of this new category, intermediate to the two pre-existing groups, Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction (HFrEF) and Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF), intended to promote the investigation of this group which represents up to 25% of patients with Heart Failure. In this review we aim to summarize the current evidence on HFmrEF and discuss this distinction. Generally, patients with HFmrEF have clinical characteristics intermediate between the mentioned two pre-existing groups. Ischemic heart disease appears as the characteristic where these patients are more similar to patients with HFrEF. In terms of prognosis and response to treatment, HFmrEF seems to be more similar to HFrEF, suggesting that etiology may be more important than LVEF for stratification. Some studies have shown benefits in the use of drugs currently recommended for patients with HFrEF in patients with HFmrEF. Additional research is needed, not only to better characterize this group of patients, but also to understand which are the best therapeutic strategies.

The effects of the dose and application method of limestone - broadcast or in furrow - and of agricultural gypsum on soil fertility, the control of clubroot, and cauliflower development in mountain farming areas were evaluated. Initially, four doses of broadcast limestone (0.0, 1.0, 2.0, and 4.0 Mg ha-1) and two cauliflower cultivars (Sharon and Piracicaba Precoce) were analyzed. A second experiment evaluated limestone (4.0 Mg ha-1) application treatments: broadcast and in furrow, broadcast limestone + gypsum (3.0 + 1.0 Mg ha-1), and broadcast gypsum (1.0 Mg ha-1). Soil fertility was improved, and significant increases were observed in the total and healthy root volume with increasing doses of limestone. With 4.0 Mg ha-1, a 58 and 85% increase in yield was observed in Sharon and Piracicaba, respectively, compared to the control. Treatments with limestone and limestone + gypsum, regardless of the application method, elevated pH (≥ 10%), base saturation (V%) (≥ 37%), and calcium (Ca) contents (≥ 100%), and reduced the levels of aluminum ions (Al3+) (≥ 60%) and clubroot severity (≥ 64%) and favored biomass accumulation (≥ 27%) and yield (≥ 9.2%). The objectives of this study was to diagnose Cd and Pb contamination in soil and to identify the main factors that contribute to the transfer of these elements to tomato plants and fruits and contamination levels of the fruits in tropical mountain conditions. Contamination of the study area soils by Cd and Pb was verified. This contamination stemmed from the intensive use of agricultural inputs, mainly organic fertilizers and soluble mineral fertilizers. The relief of the terrain and inadequate soil management influenced the spatial distribution of these two metals. The Cd concentration in tomato fruits was very low, but the Pb contamination detected in approximately 80% of the fruit samples was considerably higher than the limits that pose a danger to human health. The translocation of Pb to the tomato fruits was associated with the use of organic fertilizer, mainly poultry litter.

Vegetable cultivation stands out for intensive use of agricultural inputs due to high nutritional requirements of plants within a short period and their high susceptibility to pests and diseases. This study aimed to identify the main factors responsible for changes in pseudo-total and bioavailable contents of Cd, Cu, Cr, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn in soils under intensive vegetable cultivation. Soil samples were collected from 146 sites in Petrópolis (RJ), Brazil, in 2017. The samples were collected at a depth of 0-20 cm in family farm systems during vegetable production period. Pseudo-total contents of toxic elements were determined by the EPA 3050B method. Geochemical fractionation procedure was used based on the BCR method. Pollution indices were also calculated. In general, vegetable producing areas presented low contamination by Cu, Zn, Pb, Mn, and Ni, except for Cd, which showed severe contamination. In areas with the lowest slopes, most of the toxic elements showed increasing contents, reflecting relief influence. Overall, inadequate soil management, intensive application of phosphate, potassium, and organic fertilization, and relief were the most influencing parameters on the enrichment and bioavailability of toxic elements in the soil. RESUMO O cultivo de hortaliças se destaca pelo uso intensivo de insumos agrícolas, devido à exigência nutricional em curto período de tempo e alta susceptibilidade a pragas e doenças. Este estudo teve como objetivo identificar os principais fatores responsáveis pelas alterações nos teores pseudototais e biodisponíveis de Cd, Cu, Cr, Mn, Ni, Pb e Zn nos solos sob cultivo intensivo de hortaliças. Para tal, no ano de 2017, foram coletadas amostras de terra em 146 pontos no município de Petrópolis-RJ. As amostras foram coletadas na profundidade de 0-20 cm, em propriedades familiares com cultivo de hortaliças em pleno período de produção. Para determinação dos teores pseudototais dos elementos tóxicos foi utilizada a metodologia da EPA 3050B. O procedimento de fracionamento geoquímico foi realizado com base no método BCR. Também foram calculados os índices de poluição. Em geral, as áreas produtoras de hortaliças apresentaram baixa contaminação por Cu, Zn, Pb, Mn e Ni, exceto para Cd que apresentou severa contaminação. Nas áreas que apresentam os menores valores de declividade, houve aumento nos teores da maioria dos elementos tóxicos, refletindo a influência do relevo. De maneira geral, o manejo inadequado do solo, a aplicação intensiva de adubação fosfatada, potássica e orgânica, assim como, o revelo, foram as variáveis que mais influenciaram no enriquecimento e biodisponibilidade de elementos tóxicos no solo.

We present new experimental and modelling data concerning imidazolium based-FILs synthesized with a hydroxyl group in the end of the cationic hydrogenated side chain and compared them with the analogous non-functionalized FILs in order to verify their suitability in the biomedical field. The thermophysical and thermodynamic properties of the neat compounds and the self-aggregation behaviour of FILs in aqueous solutions were measured and compared with theoretical results from the soft-SAFT equation of state, in good agreement with each other. Results showed that the presence of the hydroxyl group increases the density and viscosity of pure compounds and aqueous mixtures, whereas the thermal stability, melting, free volume, ionicity and self-aggregation behaviour decrease. These properties are improved with respect to the conventional perfluorosurfactants for the desired application, due to the full miscibility in water and the promising improved biocompatibility. authorsversion published

Resumo: O objetivo deste artigo foi analisar a aceitabilidade da quimioprofilaxia com rifampicina em dose única (PEP) entre os contatos, casos índices de hanseníase e profissionais da saúde e fatores relacionados que possam influenciar na adesão. Realizou-se um estudo qualitativo de análise de conteúdo após aplicação de entrevistas semiestruturadas segundo protocolo proposto no programa LPEP (2016), realizado em Alta Floresta, Mato Grosso, Brasil, em julho de 2016. Participaram do estudo indivíduos notificados com hanseníase, contatos e profissionais da saúde. Utilizou-se o software QRS NVivo versão 10. Foram contatados 80 indivíduos, sendo 54 (67%) contatos, 11 (14%) casos índices e 15 (19%) profissionais de saúde. Dentre os contatos, 94% (51/54) tomaram PEP. Foram identificadas 3 categorias quanto à PEP: compreensão, aceitação e expectativa da intervenção. A compreensão se mostrou relacionada ao cuidado da equipe de saúde. Aceitar ou não a medicação revelou-se relacionada ao medo, confiança e proteção, operacionalidade da estratégia, autoestima e insegurança quanto à intervenção. A expectativa da intervenção relacionou-se ao bem-estar, prevenção da doença e de sequelas, diminuição de gastos públicos e ampliação do acesso. Houve reconhecimento da relevância da estratégia PEP pela possibilidade de interrupção da cadeia de transmissão, diminuição de casos novos e melhora na qualidade de vida. A insegurança em tomar a medicação e de a doença se manifestar influenciaram negativamente à aceitação da PEP; por outro lado, as informações prévias sobre a estratégia PEP contribuíram para o fortalecimento da confiança nos profissionais de saúde e para a aceitabilidade da medicação.

Este estudo objetivou analisar o impacto da pandemia de Covid-19 no atendimento em hanseníase sob a ótica do profissional de saúde. Trata-se de um estudo de avaliação de serviços, transversal, descritivo, através de questionário impresso, destinado a profissionais de saúde médicos, enfermeiros e fisioterapeutas. O estudo foi realizado com 17 profissionais de saúde, sendo 7 enfermeiros, 7 médicos e 3 fisioterapeutas pertencentes a 7 unidades de saúde da atenção primária em um município paraense. Observou-se que apenas 24% dos profissionais entrevistados passaram por remanejamento de setor, 82% dos profissionais afirmaram que houve mudanças no perfil de atendimento das unidades de saúde, houve necessidade de reagendamentos de atendimentos para os pacientes, 88% dos profissionais passaram por rodízio de atividades, 47% afirmaram que houve falta de medicamentos para o tratamento da hanseníase nas unidades em que eles atuam, 53% afirmaram que não houve falta de materiais para o cuidado do paciente com hanseníase, houve dificuldades no agendamento de exames laboratoriais, na avaliação de contatos domiciliares e sociais e na referência e contrarreferência dos pacientes. A partir destes dados conclui-se que a pandemia de Covid-19 criou dificuldades para o atendimento e tratamento do paciente com hanseníase nas unidades de saúde da atenção primária em saúde participantes, gerando atrasos em agendamentos, remarcações de consultas, prorrogações de tratamento devido à falta de medicação, dificuldades na avaliação de contatos e busca ativa de novos casos, contribuindo para gerar um impacto negativo no programa e consequentemente no sistema de saúde.
