Emerging evidence indicates that gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) has many beneficial effects such as ameliorating immune and inflammatory response. But, here we reported that activation of GABAA receptors (GABAA Rs) aggravated dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis, although the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines was inhibited. By contrast, blocking of GABAA Rs markedly alleviated DSS-induced colitis. Notably, GABAA Rs and glutamic acid decarboxylase 65/67 were significantly increased in colon mucosa of ulcerative colitis patients and the mouse model of colitis. Further studies showed that GABA treatment resulted in an increment of serum FITC-dextran following its oral administration, a decrement of transepithelial electrical resistance, and an increment of bacterial invasion, effects which were blocked by bicuculline. In addition, GABA inhibited the expression of tight junction proteins and mucin secretion in colitis colon. GABA also decreased the expression of ki-67 and increased cleaved-caspase 3 expression in intestinal epithelia. Our data indicate that the GABAA Rs activation within colon mucosa disrupts the intestinal barrier and increases the intestinal permeability which facilitates inflammatory reaction in colon. Meanwhile, the suppression effect of GABA on pro-inflammatory cytokines leads to insufficient bacteria elimination and further aggravated the bacteria invasion and inflammatory damage. Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic idiopathic inflammatory bowel disease with a relapsing–remitting course. Although its etiology remains unknown, excessive oxidative stress in colon is a major intermediate factor that can promote the progression of UC. In the present study, we investigated the effect and the underlying mechanisms of 4-Octyl itaconate (OI) on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced UC in mice. Our work identified that OI alleviated the colitis by reducing the oxidative stress and the apoptosis in colon tissue, then increasing the tight junction proteins expression and in turn enhancing the intestinal barrier function, thereby creating less severe inflammatory responses. Moreover, our results demonstrated that OI reduced the Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (KEAP1) expression and subsequent upregulated nuclear factor E2-related factor (NRF2) expression and its nuclear translocation which in turn induced the expression of glutathione S-transferase (GST) and NAD(P)H: quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1). In addition, ML385, a NRF2 antagonist, can inhibit the protective effects of OI on UC, indicating that the role of OI in this colitis model could be dependent on the activation of KEAP1-NRF2 pathway. Notably, OI co-administration significantly enhanced the therapeutic effects of mesalazine or 1400W on UC. Collectively, itaconate may have a great potential for use in the treatment of IBD. Bovine coronavirus (BCoV) is a causative agent of enteric and respiratory disease in cattle. BCoV has been reported to cause a variety of animal diseases and is closely related to human coronaviruses; moreover, it has attracted extensive attention from both cattle farmers and researchers. With the rise of BCoV, a vaccine that is prophylactic and immunotherapeutic has to be utilized for a preemptive and adroit therapeutic approach. The aim of this study was to develop a novel multiepitope‐based BCoV vaccine that can induce an immune response using a silicon reverse vaccinology approach. In this study, an immunoinformatics approach was employed to identify potential vaccine targets against BCoV, and four candidate antigen proteins were selected to predict B‐cell and T‐cell epitopes. To identify dominant epitopes, we employed a variety of bioinformatics techniques, including antigenicity prediction, immunogenicity assessment, allergenicity analysis, conservative analysis, and toxicity assessment. Finally, six multiepitope vaccines were developed using dominant epitopes, suitable adjuvants, Pan HLADR—binding epitope (PADRE), and linkers. Then based on the antigenicity score, solubility analysis, allergenicity evaluation, physicochemical property assessment, and tertiary structure verification score, construct 6 was selected as the best candidate vaccine; it was named CY. Molecular modeling and structural validation ensured the high‐quality 3D structure of construct CY. The immunogenicity and complex stability of the vaccine were evaluated by molecular docking and kinetic simulation. In silicon clones, the BCoV vaccine had high levels of gene expression in the insect expression system. Rhodococcus equi (R. equi) is a zoonotic opportunistic pathogen that mainly causes fatal lung and extrapulmonary abscesses in foals and immunocompromised individuals. To date, no commercial vaccine against R. equi exists. We previously screened all potential vaccine candidates from the complete genome of R. equi using a reverse vaccinology approach. Five of these candidates, namely ABC transporter substrate-binding protein (ABC transporter), penicillin-binding protein 2 (PBD2), NlpC/P60 family protein (NlpC/P60), esterase family protein (Esterase), and M23 family metallopeptidase (M23) were selected for the evaluation of immunogenicity and immunoprotective effects in BALB/c mice model challenged with R. equi. The results showed that all five vaccine candidate-immunized mice experienced a significant increase in spleen antigen-specific IFN-γ- and TNF-α-positive CD4 + and CD8 + T lymphocytes and generated robust Th1- and Th2-type immune responses and antibody responses. Two weeks after the R. equi challenge, immunization with the five vaccine candidates reduced the bacterial load in the lungs and improved the pathological damage to the lungs and livers compared with those in the control group. NlpC/P60, Esterase, and M23 were more effective than the ABC transporter and PBD2 in inducing protective immunity against R. equi challenge in mice. In addition, these vaccine candidates have the potential to induce T lymphocyte memory immune responses in mice. In summary, these antigens are effective candidates for the development of protective vaccines against R. equi. Salmonella is considered as one of the most common zoonotic /foodborne pathogens in the world. The application of bacteriophages as novel antibacterial agents in food substrates has become an emerging strategy. Bacteriophages have the potential to control Salmonella contamination. We have isolated and characterized a broad-spectrum Salmonella phage, SP154, which can lyse 9 serotypes, including S. Enteritidis, S. Typhimurium, S. Pullorum, S. Arizonae, S. Dublin, S. Cholerasuis, S. Chester, S. 1, 4, [5], 12: i: –, and S. Derby, accounting for 81.9% of 144 isolates. SP154 showed a short latent period (40 min) and a high burst size (with the first rapid burst size at 107 PFUs/cell and the second rapid burst size at approximately 40 PFUs/cell). Furthermore, SP154 activity has higher survival rates across various environmental conditions, including pH 4.0–12.0 and temperatures ranging from 4 to 50 °C for 60 min, making it suitable for diverse food processing and storage applications. Significant reductions in live Salmonella were observed in different foods matrices such as milk and chicken meat, with a decrease of up to 1.9 log10 CFU/mL in milk contamination and a 1 log10 CFU/mL reduction in chicken meat. Whole genome sequencing analysis revealed that SP154 belongs to the genus Ithacavirus, subfamily Humphriesvirinae, within the family Schitoviridae. Phylogenetic analysis based on the terminase large subunit supported this classification, although an alternate tree using the tail spike protein gene suggested affiliation with the genus Kuttervirus, underscoring the limitations of relying on a single gene for phylogenetic inference. Importantly, no virulence or antibiotic resistance genes were detected in SP154. Our research highlights the potential of using SP154 for biocontrol of Salmonella in the food industry. Background: The current calcium (Ca) recommendation for broilers is primarily based on studies conducted more than 30 years ago with birds of markedly different productive potentials from those which exist today. And the response indicators in these studies are mainly growth performance and bone ash percentage. Therefore, the present study was carried out to investigate the effect of dietary Ca level on growth performance, serum parameters, bone characteristics and Ca metabolism-related gene expressions, so as to estimate dietary Ca requirements of broilers fed a conventional corn-soybean meal diet from 1 to 21 days of age. Methods: A total of 420 1-day-old Arbor Acres male broilers were randomly assigned to 1 of 7 treatments with 6 replicates (10 birds per cage) and fed the corn-soybean meal diets containing 0.60%, 0.70%, 0.80%, 0.90%, 1.00%, 1.10% or 1.20% Ca for 21 days. Each diet contained the constant non-phytate phosphorus content of about 0.39%. Results: The average daily gain decreased linearly (P < 0.001) as dietary Ca level increased. The serum and tibia alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activities, tibia bone mineral density (BMD), middle toe BMD, tibia ash percentage, tibia breaking strength, and tibia ALP protein expression level were affected (P < 0.05) by dietary Ca level, and showed significant quadratic responses (P < 0.02) to dietary Ca levels. The estimates of dietary Ca requirements were 0.80 to 1.00% based on the best fitted broken-line or quadratic models (P < 0.03) of the above serum and bone parameters, respectively. Conclusions: The results from the present study indicate that the Ca requirements would be about 0.60% to obtain the best growth rate, and 1.00% to meet all of the Ca metabolisms and bone development of broilers fed a conventional corn-soybean meal diet from 1 to 21 days of age. Background: Studies have confirmed that Infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus (IBRV) infection induces mitochondrial damage. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of noncoding RNA molecules, which are involved in various biological processes and pathological changes associated with mitochondrial damage. It is currently unclear whether miRNAs participate in IBRV-induced mitochondrial damage in Madin-Darby bovine kidney (MDBK) cells. Results: In the present study, we used high-throughput sequencing technology, Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis to screen for mitochondria-related miRNAs and messenger RNAs (mRNAs). In total, 279 differentially expressed miRNAs and 832 differentially expressed mRNAs were identified in 6 hours (IBRV1) versus 24 hours (IBRV2) after IBRV infection in MDBK cells. GO and KEGG enrichment analysis revealed that 42 differentially expressed mRNAs and 348 target genes of differentially expressed miRNAs were correlated with mitochondrial damage, and the miRNA-mitochondria-related target genes regulatory network was constructed to elucidate their potential regulatory relationships. Among the 10 differentially expressed miRNAs, 8 showed expression patterns consistent with the high-throughput sequencing results. Functional validation results showed that overexpression of miR-10a and miR-182 aggravated mitochondrial damage, while inhibition of miR-10a and miR-182 alleviated mitochondrial damage. Conclusions: This study not only revealed the expression changes of miRNAs and mRNAs in IBRV-infected MDBK cells, but also revealed possible biological regulatory relationship between them. MiR-10a and miR-182 may have the potential to be developed as biomarkers for the diagnosis and treatment of IBRV. Ecological treatment system (ETS) has been recognized as a promising technology for mitigating agricultural non-point pollution, whereas it remains to be seen how nitrogen (N) forms and bacterial communities in ETS sediments respond to different aquatic N conditions. Therefore, a four-month microcosm experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of three aquatic N conditions (2 mg/L NH 4 +-N, 2 mg/L NO 3 −-N and 1 mg/L NH 4 +-N + 1 mg/L NO 3 −-N) on sediment N forms and bacterial communities in three ETSs vegetated by Potamogeton malaianus , Vallisneria natans and artificial aquatic plant, respectively. Through analysis of four transferable N fractions, the valence states of N in ion-exchange and weak acid extractable fractions were found to be mainly determined by aquatic N conditions, while significant N accumulation was observed only in strong oxidant extractable and strong alkali extractable fractions. Sediment N profiles were primarily influenced by time and plant types, with N condition having secondary effect, while sediment bacterial community structures experienced a significant shift over time and were slightly influenced by plant types. Sediment functional genes related to N fixation, nitrification, assimilable nitrate reduction, dissimilatory nitrite reduction (DNRA) and denitrification were substantially enriched in month 4, and the bacterial co-occurrence network exhibited less complexity but more stability under NO 3 − condition compared to others. Furthermore, certain sediment N fractions were found to have strong relationships with specific sediment bacteria, such as nitrifiers, denitrifiers and DNRA bacteria. Our findings highlight the significant influence of aquatic N condition in submerged macrophyte-type ETSs on sediment N forms and bacterial communities. • Microbial O -methylation of diclofenac is firstly proved in drinking water. • A MPN method is established to quantify OMPPB in drinking water. • OMPPB risks are assessed in terms of odor, toxicity and bioaccumulation. • OMPPB community structure is shifted during drinking water treatment. • Mycobacterium and Pelomonas significantly influence the OMPFP profile. O -methylated pollutants (OMPs) are emerging contaminants in drinking water and mainly produced through bacterial O -methylation. However, the information of OMP-producing bacteria (OMPPB) in drinking water treatment plant (DWTP) is largely unknown so far. In this study, the OMPPB in water samples from three DWTPs (XL, JX and NX) were investigated by using cultivation-dependent and cultivation-independent technologies. Four OMPs were detected and their odor and toxicity risks were assessed. Formation potentials (FPs) of 2,4,6-trichloanisole, 2,3,6-trichloanisole, 2,4,6-tribromoanisole, pentachloroanisole and diclofenac methyl ester were determined in water samples and their values shifted significantly among DWTPs. A most probable number (MPN) method was established to quantify OMPPB numbers and the relationships between total haloanisole FPs (HAFPs) (y) and OMPPB numbers (x) in three DWTPs could be described by the following functions: y = 0.496×0.373 (XL), y = 0.041×0.465 (JX) and y = 0.218×0.237 (NX). Several genera like Bacillus, Ralstonia, Brevundimonas , etc. were newly found OMPPB among the cultivable bacteria, and their OMP products were evaluated in terms of quantity and environment risks (odor, toxicity and bioaccumulation). High-throughput sequencing revealed treatment process was the main driving factor to shape the OMPPB community structures and Mantel test showed HAFP profile was significantly influenced by Mycobacterium and Pelomonas. PICURSt2 analysis discovered four phenolic O -methyltransferases (OMTs) and four carboxylic OMTs which might be responsible for OMP formation. The AuAg alloy nanoparticles were decorated on the δ-Bi 2 O 3 surface to obtain AuAg@δ-Bi 2 O 3 , then AuAg@δ-Bi 2 O 3 were hydrothermally combined with BiOBr plate to form Z-scheme AuAg@δ-Bi 2 O 3 /BiOBr. The photocatalytic activity of samples were evaluated by the removal of dyes (rhodamine B (RhB) and acid orange 7 (AO7)), tetracycline (TC) and reduction of Cr(VI) under simulated sunlight irradiation. With the decoration of δ-Bi 2 O 3 , the δ-Bi 2 O 3 /BiOBr composites exhibit higher photocatalytic activity than bare BiOBr. The optimal catalytic efficiency is achieved by 10%δ-Bi 2 O 3 /BiOBr sample, which leads to ∼75.7% of AO7, 84.9% of RhB and 67.5% of Cr(VI) removed after 25 min irradiation. After the introduction of AuAg nanoparticles, the photocataltyic activity of 10%δ-Bi 2 O 3 /BiOBr can be further enhanced. The removal efficiency of AO7, RhB and Cr(VI) can reach ∼97.9%, ∼97.3% and ∼84.5% after 25 min irradiation, respectively. The AuAg alloy nanoparticles located at the interface of Z-scheme δ-Bi 2 O 3 /BiOBr can accelerate the photogenerated charges separation over the way of a Z-scheme charge migration mechanism. In addition, AuAg alloy nanoparticles located at δ-Bi 2 O 3 surface compensates the consumption of photogenerated charges in the direct Z-scheme δ-Bi 2 O 3 /BiOBr heterojunction due to their SPR effect, and even further promotes the separation of photogenerated charges in the composite. • The AuAg@δ-Bi 2 O 3 were decorated on BiOBr plate to form Z-scheme AuAg@δ-Bi 2 O 3 /BiOBr. • AuAg@δ-Bi 2 O 3 /BiOBr composite exhibits remarkably enhanced photocatalytic activity for the removal of dyes, antibiotic and heavy metal ions. • AuAg@δ-Bi 2 O 3 /BiOBr composite also exhibits outstanding synergistic photocatalytic performance. • The photocatalytic mechanism of Z-scheme AuAg@δ-Bi 2 O 3 /BiOBr composite was proposed. Abstract: Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is recognized as an important gaseous signaling molecule in mammalian tissues and exerts its modulating functions of different systems via targeting different ion channels and receptors. H2S can be synthesized from l-cysteine by cystathionine β-synthetase (CBS) or cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE). It has been reported recently that H2S can be synthesized and released in rat adrenal medulla chromaffin cells (AMCs) which play a critical role in the regulation of stress response by releasing catecholamine (CA). In the present study, we combined amperometry and whole-cell patch-clamp recording to explore the direct effect of exogenous H2S on CA release in AMCs and the underlying ionic mechanism. Amperometry showed that local application of NaHS, the H2S donor, evoked CA release from AMCs. Furthermore, the CA secretory response to NaHS was totally blocked by removing extracellular Ca2+. Whole-cell patch-clamp experiments showed that H2S-induced CA release is produced by membrane depolarization generated by an inhibition of Ca2+-activated K+ current [I K(Ca) current]. We conclude that H2S is capable of directly inducing CA release by inhibiting the I K(Ca) current. This conclusion indicates that H2S may involve in the response of adrenal medulla to stress by modulating I K(Ca) current and CA release in mammalian animals. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

This paper presents a high-temperature cascade heat pump system with a high compression ratio for recovering the waste heat of the chemical plant and replacing the steam. To analyze the economic and the thermodynamic performance of the high-temperature cascade heat pump, a mathematical model, considering energy, exergy, economy and environment, has been developed under different heat source inlet temperature. The proposed system here indicated good stability and feasibility under various operating conditions according to the simulation results. However, as the heating capacity and the annual net profit were found to be conflicting with each other, a multi-objective optimization method was developed to solve this problem. In addition, the technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution method was selected as the decision-making method to search for the final optimal result of the system. The optimization results showed that if the optimized heating capacity project was selected, the average heating capacity and the average annual net profit were 2.8% and 6.7% lower than their maximum possible values. At the optimal heat source inlet temperature of 71 °C and condensing temperature of 145 °C, the heating capacity of the system was 498.9 kW and the payback period was 3.9 year. Tail fat deposition of Altay sheep not only increased the cost of feeding but also reduced the economic value of meat. Currently, because artificial tail removal and gene modification methods cannot solve this problem, it is maybe to consider reducing tail fat deposition from the path of intestinal microbiota and metabolite. We measured body weight and tail fat weight, collected the serum for hormone detection by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and collected colon contents to 16S rRNA sequence and liquid chromotography with mass spectrometry detection to obtain colon microbiota and metabolite information, from 12 3-month-old and 6-month-old Altay sheep. Subsequently, we analyzed the correlation between colon microbiota and tail fat weight, hormones, and metabolites, respectively. We identified that the tail fat deposition of Altay sheep increased significantly with the increase of age and body weight, and the main microbiota that changed were Verrucomicrobia, Cyanobacteria, Akkermansia , Bacteroides , Phocaeicola , Escherichia-Shigella , and Clostridium&#95;sensu&#95;stricto&#95;1 . The results indicated that the diversities of metabolites in the colon contents of 3-months old and 6-months old were mainly reflected in phosphocholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) in the lipid metabolism pathway. The correlations analyzed showed that Verrucomicrobia, Chlamydiae, Akkermansia , Ruminococcaceae&#95;UCG-005 , Bacteroides , and Phocaeicola were negatively correlated with tail fat deposition. Verrucomicrobia, Akkermansia , and Bacteroides were negatively correlated with growth hormone (GH). Verrucomicrobia was positively correlated with L-a-lysophosphatidylserine and PE(18:1(9Z)/0:0). Our results showed that tail fat deposition of Altay sheep was probably correlated with the abundance of Verrucomicrobia, Akkermansia , Bacteroides of colon microbiota, PC, PE of metabolites, and GH of serum., Importance: Excessive tail fat deposition of Altay sheep caused great economic losses, and the current research results could not solve this problem well. Now, our research speculates that the tail fat deposition of Aletay sheep may be related to the abundance of Verrucomicrobia, Akkermansia, Bacteroides, metabolites phosphocholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, and growth hormone of serum. Introduction: Viruses are among the main pathogens causing diarrhoea in calves. The current study found that bovine norovirus (BNoV) is one of the principal viruses causing diarrhoea in calves in Xinjiang, China., Material and Methods: A total of 974 calf faecal samples from six regions in Xinjiang were tested for BNoV using reverse-transcriptase PCR. The genomic characteristics of BNoV and the genetic evolution of the VP1 gene, protein three-dimensional structure characteristics and amino acid variation were analysed using bioinformatics methods., Results: Epidemiological survey results showed that the infection rate of BNoV was 19.82%, and all samples tested positive in five regions. The results of the genetic evolution analysis showed that BNoV strains from Tacheng of northern Xinjiang and Kashgar of southern Xinjiang both belonged to the GIII.2 genotype of BNoV but were not on the same cluster of evolutionary branches. Alternative polyadenylation plays an important role in cancer initiation and progression; however, current transcriptome-wide association studies mostly ignore alternative polyadenylation when identifying putative cancer susceptibility genes. Here, we perform a pan-cancer 3' untranslated region alternative polyadenylation transcriptome-wide association analysis by integrating 55 well-powered (n > 50,000) genome-wide association studies datasets across 22 major cancer types with alternative polyadenylation quantification from 23,955 RNA sequencing samples across 7,574 individuals. We find that genetic variants associated with alternative polyadenylation are co-localized with 28.57% of cancer loci and contribute a significant portion of cancer heritability. We further identify 642 significant cancer susceptibility genes predicted to modulate cancer risk via alternative polyadenylation, 62.46% of which have been overlooked by traditional expression- and splicing- studies. As proof of principle validation, we show that alternative alleles facilitate 3' untranslated region lengthening of CRLS1 gene leading to increased protein abundance and promoted proliferation of breast cancer cells. Together, our study highlights the significant role of alternative polyadenylation in discovering new cancer susceptibility genes and provides a strong foundational framework for enhancing our understanding of the etiology underlying human cancers., (© 2024. As an oxidant, deodorant and bleaching agent, the hypochlorous acid (HClO) and hypochlorite (ClO - ) are widely used in corrosion inhibitors, textile dyes, pharmaceutical intermediates and in our daily lives. However, excess usage or aberrant accumulation of ClO - leads to tissue damage or some diseases and even cancer. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a fluorescent probe that specifically identifies ClO - . In this article, we synthesized a deep-red xanthene-based fluorescent probe (XA-CN). The strong electron deficient group dicyano endows the probe XA-CN deep-red fluorescent emission with high solubility, selectivity and sensitivity for ClO - detection. Studies showed that the probe demonstrated turn-off fluorescence (643 nm) at the presence of ClO - in dimethylsulfoxide/phosphate-buffered saline 1:1 (pH 9) solution with a limit of detection of 1.64 μM. Background: The Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) infects animals and induces acute intestinal inflammation. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are known to play crucial roles in modulating inflammation response. However, it is not clear whether lncRNAs are involved in STEC-induced inflammation., Methods and Results: To understand the association of lncRNAs with STEC infection, we used RNA-seq technology to analyze the profiles of lncRNAs in Mock-infected and STEC-infected human intestinal epithelial cells (HIECs). We detected a total of 702 lncRNAs differentially expressed by STEC infection. 583 differentially expressed lncRNAs acted as competitive microRNAs (miRNAs) binding elements in regulating the gene expression involved in TNF signaling pathway, IL-17 signaling pathway, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, and apoptosis pathways. We analyzed 3 targeted genes, TRADD, TRAF1 and TGFB2, which were differentially regulated by mRNA-miRNA-lncRNA interaction network, potentially involved in the inflammatory and apoptotic response to STEC infection. Functional analysis of up/downstream genes associated with differentially expressed lncRNAs revealed their role in adheres junction and endocytosis. We also used the qRT-PCR technique to validate 8 randomly selected differentially expressed lncRNAs and mRNAs in STEC-infected HIECs., Conclusion: Our results, for the first time, revealed differentially expressed lncRNAs induced by STEC infection of HIECs. Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have identified thousands of non-coding variants that are associated with human complex traits and diseases. The analysis of such GWAS variants in different contexts and physiological states is essential for deciphering the regulatory mechanisms underlying human disease. Alternative polyadenylation (APA) is a key post-transcriptional modification for most human genes that substantially impacts upon cell behavior. Here, we mapped 9,493 3'-untranslated region APA quantitative trait loci in 18 human immune baseline cell types and 8 stimulation conditions (immune 3'aQTLs). Through the comparison between baseline and stimulation data, we observed the high responsiveness of 3'aQTLs to immune stimulation (response 3'aQTLs). Co-localization and mendelian randomization analyses of immune 3'aQTLs identified 678 genes where 3'aQTL are associated with variation in complex traits, 27.3% of which were derived from response 3'aQTLs. Overall, these analyses reveal the role of immune 3'aQTLs in the determination of complex traits, providing new insights into the regulatory mechanisms underlying disease etiologies., (© 2023. In the present work, a promising binary TiC/Bi 2 O 3 photocatalyst was obtained via a simple hydrothermal route. In the photodegradation experiment of acid orange 7 (AO7) and tetracycline (TC) irradiated by simulated sunlight, the attachment of TiC nanoparticles on the Bi 2 O 3 microrods leads to an obvious improvement in the photocatalytic removal properties of the Bi 2 O 3 microrods. The optimal removal efficiency of AO7 was achieved by the 7.5%TiC/Bi 2 O 3 sample, which results in about 91.5% dye removal within 75 min of reaction. Meanwhile, the 7.5%TiC/Bi 2 O 3 sample also exhibits favorable photodegradation performance for the degradation of TC, leading to about ∼76.9% TC being degraded after 75 min of irradiation. More importantly, the degradation pathways of AO7 and toxicity analysis of the intermediate products were performed based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry detection and theoretical simulation. The superior photocatalytic behavior of the TiC/Bi 2 O 3 composite is attributed to the effective separation and migration of photoexcited electrons and holes in the heterojunction, where the TiC nanoparticles act as an acceptor of photoexcited electrons.
