107. Phase-Trajectory Region Criterion and Quantitative Optimization Method for Numerical Stability in Power Electronic Simulation

Abstract

Numerical simulation-based digitalization has aroused great research interests recently in power electronic design. As the basic but most important problem, numerical stability is sensitive to the accumulation of numerical errors, which becomes a new challenge with the high-frequency application in power electronic simulation due to the switching features and discontinuous events. In this article, the factors affecting the numerical stability are systematically analyzed. Then, the phase-trajectory region criterion is proposed to simplify the judgement process of numerical stability based on dominant influence factors, as a result, the limitations of discontinuous event handling and low efficiency in traditional criteria can be basically covered. Besides, an optimization method based on first-order numerical integration is proposed to quantitatively modify the stability region and improve the numerical stability. Finally, the validation results in offline and real-time environment are demonstrated to confirm the validity of proposed criterion and optimized rule for the stability risks obtainment and oscillation suppression, respectively.

Although these traditional methods are still considered as the first-line or standard treatments, non-operative situation, systemic toxicity or resistance severely weakened the therapeutic effect. More recently, synthetic biological nanocarriers elicited substantial interest and exhibited promising potential for combating cancer. In particular, bacteria and their derivatives are omnipotent to realize intrinsic tumor targeting and inhibit tumor growth with anti-cancer agents secreted and immune response. They are frequently employed in synergistic bacteria-mediated anticancer treatments to strengthen the effectiveness of anti-cancer treatment. In this review, we elaborate on the development, mechanism and advantage of bacterial therapy against cancer and then systematically introduce the bacteria-based nanoprobes against cancer and the recent achievements in synergistic treatment strategies and clinical trials. We also discuss the advantages as well as the limitations of these bacteria-based nanoprobes, especially the questions that hinder their application in human, exhibiting this novel anti-cancer endeavor comprehensively. 114. Minimum Number of Copies in the Measurement of Multi-Photon Entanglement

Abstract

Multi-photon entanglement has been successfully made by experimental groups. As the increase of photon number, several problems are encountered, say, greater number of copies, longer time, the error of fidelity and so on. In this paper, we present a new scheme based on Lagrange multiplier and feedback to save the measure copies in multi-photon experiment and five percent of measuring time, also guarantee the acceptable error of fidelity. All the results have been supported by the data of eight photon experiment. Furthermore, same approach is applied in the simulation for ten photon entanglement, and 22.45 percent of copies are saved, optimized copy distribution gives better estimation of fidelity than the average copy distribution.

Abstract

Temperature is a crucial parameter in the spin-exchange optical pumping (SEOP) process of noble gas ( 3 He), but is hard to measure due to its confinement nature. In this paper, we conduct research upon the temperature and gas flow distribution within a sealed SEOP cell through computational fluid dynamics simulation. The simulation result shows that the external heat exchange of the initial heating of the cell becomes a cooling process in the presence of high pumping laser power absorbed by the alkali metal. The heat from the pumping laser would also cause the gas in the cell to reach a much higher temperature than the oven, with the hottest part appearing on the upper side of the cell. These predicted behaviors from the simulation are later confirmed by our experiment measurement, which strongly indicates that a gas flow and heat flow exist within the cell. These results help us to understand the temperature distribution of 3 He gas in the cell and provide references for the development and improvement of the future SEOP system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

133. Density matrix and fidelity estimation of multiphoton entanglement via phaselift

Abstract

The experiments of multi-photon entanglements have been made by some groups, including Pan's group (Ref.[2],[3],[5]). Obviously, the increase number of the photon would cause a dramatically increase in the dimension of the measurement matrix, which result in a great consumption of time in the measurements. From a practical view, we wish to gain the most information through as little measurements as possible for the multi-photon entanglements. The low rank matrix recovery (LRMR) provides such a possibility to resolve all the issues of the measurement matrix based on less data. In this paper, we would like to verify that whether the LRMR works for six qubits and eight photons in comparison to the data given by Pan's group, i.e. we input a fraction of the data to calculate all of others. Through exploring their density matrix, fidelity and visibility, we find that the results remain consistent with the data provided by Pan's group, which allows us to confirm that the LRMR can simplify experimental measure- ments for more photons. In particular, we find that very limited data would also give excellent support to the experiment for fidelity when low rank, pure state, sparse or position information are utilized. Abstract

Background: An applicable magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) biomarker for diffuse midline glioma (DMG), H3 K27-altered of the spinal cord is important for non-invasive diagnosis. Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of conventional MRI (cMRI) in distinguishing between DMGs, H3 K27-altered, gliomas without H3 K27-alteration, and demyelinating lesions in the spinal cord. Material and Methods: Between January 2017 and February 2023, patients with pathology-confirmed spinal cord gliomas (including ependymomas) with definite H3 K27 status and demyelinating diseases diagnosed by recognized criteria were recruited as the training set for this retrospective study. Morphologic parameter assessment was performed by two neuroradiologists on T1-weighted, T2-weighted, and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging. Variables with high inter- and intra-observer agreement were included in univariable correlation analysis and multivariable logistic regression. The performance of the final model was verified by internal and external testing sets. Results: The training cohort included 21 patients with DMGs (13 men; mean age = 34.57 ± 13.489 years), 21 with wild-type gliomas (10 men; mean age = 46.76 ± 17.017 years), and 20 with demyelinating diseases (5 men; mean age = 49.50 ± 18.872 years). A significant difference was observed in MRI features, including cyst(s), hemorrhage, pial thickening with enhancement, and the maximum anteroposterior diameter of the spinal cord. The prediction model, integrating age, age2, and morphological characteristics, demonstrated good performance in the internal and external testing cohort (accuracy: 0.810 and 0.800, specificity: 0.810 and 0.720, sensitivity: 0.872 and 0.849, respectively). Conclusion: Based on cMRI, we developed a model with good performance for differentiating among DMGs, H3 K27-altered, wild-type glioma, and demyelinating lesions in the spinal cord.
