With the fast development of the modern power system, the current transformer (CT) saturation problem is most serious, causing the measuring error of primary current and the maloperation of protection. This article proposes a CT transient simulation model based on the Jiles–Atherton theory. The key coefficients of the CT model that define the basic magnetizing characteristics are identified based on the practical CT. The dynamic tests are carried out to analyze the saturation characteristics of different CT types, and to verify the accuracy of the CT simulation model. The CT simulation models are then utilized for analyzing two actual maloperation cases. The results prove that the proposed CT simulation model can provide an effective method for analyzing the CT saturation problem. © 2018 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. With increasing world population, life-span of humans and spread of viruses, myriad of diseases in human beings are becoming more and more common. Because of the interesting chemical and framework versatility and porosity of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) they find application in varied areas viz. catalysis, sensing, metal ion/gas storage, chemical separation, drug delivery, bio-imaging. This subclass of coordination polymers having interesting three-dimensional framework exhibits inordinate potential and hence may find application in treatment and cure of cancer, diabetes Alzheimer's and other diseases. The presented review focuses on the diverse mechanism of action, unique biological activity and advantages of copper-based metal organic framework (MOF) nanomaterials in medicine. Also, different methods used in the treatment of cancer and other diseases have been presented and the applications as well as efficacy of copper MOFs have been reviewed and discussed. Eventually, the current-status and potential of copper based MOFs in the field of anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-cancer therapy as well as further investigations going on for this class of MOF-based multifunctional nanostructures in for developing new nano-medicines have been presented. Accumulatively, cellular behaviours triggered by biochemical cues have been widely explored and the focus of research is gradually shifting to biophysical cues. Compared to physical parameters such as stiffness, substrate morphology and viscoelasticity, the influence of viscosity on cellular behaviours is relatively unexplored and overlooked. Thus, in this study, the influence of viscosity on the adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) was investigated by adjusting the viscosity of the culture medium. Viscosity exhibited different effects on adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation of hMSCs during two-dimensional (2D) culture. High viscosity facilitated osteogenic while inhibiting adipogenic differentiation. During adipogenic differentiation, the effect of viscosity on cell proliferation was negligible. However, during osteogenic differentiation, high viscosity decreased cell proliferation. The different influence of viscosity could be explained by the activation of mechanotransduction regulators of Yes-associated protein (YAP) and β-catenin. High viscosity could promote YAP and β-catenin nuclear translocation during osteogenic differentiation, which was responsible for the increased osteogenesis. High viscosity inhibited adipogenesis through promoting YAP nuclear translocation. This study could broaden the understanding of how viscosity can affect stem cell differentiation during 2D culture, which is valuable for tissue engineering.

Recent research has uncovered a surprisingly high occurrence of aberrant expression and mutations in the genes that encode subunits of the SWI/SNF chromatin-remodeling complexes (SCRC). Nevertheless, the carcinogenic effects of aberrant expression and mutations in SWI/SNF genes have only been acknowledged in recent times, resulting in a comparatively limited understanding of these modifications. In this study, we comprehensively analyzed the expression difference, somatic mutation, potential biological pathways, stromal or immune cell infiltration, and drug sensitivity of SCRC-related genes (SCRGs) in pan-cancer. Furthermore, the evolutionary trend, prognostic signature, and immunotherapy response of SCRGs in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) were also evaluated. The expression of SCRGs was changed in 13 out of 14 tumor types, strongly linked to prognosis, and mutated in 30.9% of tumor patients. SCRGs were also closely associated with immune-related pathways and tumor metastasis pathways. The expression of SCRGs was positively associated with the immune score or stromal score but negatively correlated with Tumor purity. Three potential drugs (FK866, Ispinesib mesylate, and WZ3105) were identified to target the SCRGs. In KIRC, scRNA-seq analysis showed that the enrichment of SCRC and the communication frequency with immune cells were significantly declined during tumor cell progression. A prognostic signature was constructed in KIRC and was effective in predicting the prognosis for KIRC. Aberrant expression of eleven prognostic genes identified from the KIRC prognostic signature and the cytotoxicity of FK866 and Ispinesib mesylate to KIRC were verified by qRT-PCR and CCK-8 assay, respectively. Tuning cell adhesion geometry can affect cytoskeleton organization and the distribution of cytoskeleton forces, which play critical roles in controlling cell functions. To elucidate the geometrical relationship with cytoskeleton force distribution, it is necessary to control cell morphology. In this study, a series of dextral vortex micropatterns were prepared to precisely control cell morphology for investigating the influence of the curvature degree of adhesion curves on intracellular force distribution and stem cell differentiation at a sub-cellular level. Peripherial actin filaments of micropatterned cells were assembled along the adhesion curves and showed different orientations, filament thicknesses and densities. Focal adhesion and cytoskeleton force distribution were dependent on the curvature degree. Intracellular force distribution was also regulated by adhesion curves. The cytoskeleton and force distribution affected the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells through a YAP/TAZ-mediated mechanotransduction process. Thus, regulation of cell adhesion curvature, especially at cytoskeletal filament level, is critical for cell function manipulation. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: In this study, a series of dextral micro-vortexes were prepared and used for the culture of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) to precisely control adhesive curvatures (0°, 30°, 60°, and 90°). The single MSCs on the micropatterns had the same size and shape but showed distinct focal adhesion (FA) and cytoskeleton orientations. Cellular nanomechanics were observed to be correlated with the curvature degrees, subsequently influencing nuclear morphological features. As a consequence, the localization of the mechanotransduction sensor and activator-YAP/TAZ was affected, influencing osteogenic differentiation. Kidney diseases are important diseases that affect human health worldwide. According to the 2020 World Health Organization (WHO) report, kidney diseases have become the top 10 causes of death. Strengthening the prevention, primary diagnosis, and action of kidney-related diseases is of great significance in maintaining human health and improving the quality of life. It is increasingly challenging to address clinical needs with the present technologies for diagnosing and treating renal illness. Fortunately, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown great promise in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases. This review summarizes the research progress of MOFs in the diagnosis and treatment of renal disease in recent years. Firstly, we introduce the basic structure and properties of MOFs. Secondly, we focus on the utilization of MOFs in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases. In the diagnosis of kidney disease, MOFs are usually designed as biosensors to detect biomarkers related to kidney disease. In the treatment of kidney disease, MOFs can not only be used as an effective adsorbent for uremic toxins during hemodialysis but also as a precise treatment of intelligent drug delivery carriers. They can also be combined with nano-chelation technology to solve the problem of the imbalance of trace elements in kidney disease. Finally, we describe the current challenges and prospects of MOFs in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases.

Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles secreted by cells, ranging in size from 30 to 150 nm. They contain proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and other bioactive molecules, which play a crucial role in intercellular communication and material transfer. In tumor immunity, exosomes present various functions while the following two are of great importance: regulating the immune response and serving as delivery carriers. This review starts with the introduction of the formation, compositions, functions, isolation, characterization, and applications of exosomes, and subsequently discusses the current status of exosomes in tumor immunotherapy, and the recent applications of exosome-based tumor immunity regulation and antitumor drug delivery. Intestinal-type gastric cancer (IGC) is the most frequent type of gastric cancer in high-incidence populations. The early stages of IGC growth successively include nonatrophic gastritis (NAG), chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) and intestinal metaplasia (IM). However, the mechanisms of IGC development through these stages remain unclear. For this study, single-cell RNA-seq data related to IGC were downloaded from the GEO database, and immune cells of the tumor microenvironment (TME) were annotated using R software. Changes in the proportion of immune cells and altered cell-to-cell interactions were explored at different disease stages using R software, with a focus on plasma cells. Additionally, IGC samples from the TCGA database were used for immune cell infiltration analysis, and a Cox proportional risk regression model was constructed to identify possible prognostic genes. The results indicated that for precancerous lesions, interactions between immune cells were mainly dominated by chemokines to stimulate the infiltration and activation of immune cells. In tumors, intercellular movement of upregulated molecules and amplified signals were associated with the tumor necrosis factor family and immunosuppression to escape immune surveillance and promote tumor growth. Regarding prognostic analysis, IGLC3, IGLV1-44, IGKV1-16, IGHV3-21, IGLV1-51, and IGLV3-19 were found to be novel biomarkers for IGC. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been broadly applied in biomedical and other fields. MOFs have high porosity, a large comparative area, and good biostability and have attracted significant attention, especially in cancer therapies. This paper presents the latest applications of MOFs in chemodynamic therapy (CDT), sonodynamic therapy (SDT), photodynamic therapy (PDT), photothermal therapy (PTT), immunotherapy (IT), and combination therapy for breast cancer. A combination therapy is the combination of two different treatment modalities, such as CDT and PDT combination therapy, and is considered more effective than separate therapies. Herein, we have also discussed the advantages and disadvantages of combination therapy in the treatment of breast cancer. This paper aims to illustrate the potential of MOFs in new cancer therapeutic approaches, discuss their potential advantages, and provide some reflections on the latest research results.

Narrow-band photodetectors based on halide perovskite have recently attracted significant attention due to their exceptional narrow-band detection performance and tunable absorption peaks covering a wide optical range. In this work, we report mixed-halide CH 3 NH 3 PbCl x Br 3- x single crystal-based photodetectors have been fabricated, where the Cl/Br ratios were varied (3:0, 10:1, 5:1, 1:1, 1:7, 1:14 and 0:3). Vertical and parallel structures devices were fabricated which exhibited ultranarrow spectral responses under bottom illumination, with a full-width at half-maximum less than 16 nm. The observed performance can be ascribed to the unique carrier generation and extraction mechanisms within the single crystal under short and long wavelength of illumination. These findings offer valuable insights into the development of narrow-band photodetectors that do not necessitate the use of filters and hold tremendous potential for a diverse array of applications., (© 2023 IOP Publishing Ltd.)

Cancer has become the second leading reason for death in the world. Still, cancer therapy development is exceptionally challenging because the tumor microenvironment is very complex, and individual tumors are very different. In recent years, researchers have found that platinum-based drugs in the form of metal complexes can effectively solve tumor resistance. In this regard, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as suitable carriers with high porosity are also exceptional in the biomedical field. Therefore, this article reviews the application of platinum as an anticancer drug and the composite anticancer properties of platinum and MOF materials and prospects for its future development, which provides a new direction for further research in the biomedical field.

Nickel-based metal-organic skeletal materials (Ni-MOFs) are a new class of inorganic materials that have aroused attention of investigators during past couple of years. They offer advantages such as high specific surface area, structural diversity, tunable framework etc. This assorted class of materials exhibited catalytic activity and electrochemical properties and display wide range of applications in the fields of electrochemical sensing, electrical energy storage and electrocatalysis. In this context, the presented review focuses on strategies to improve the electrochemical performance and stability of Ni-MOFs through the optimization of synthesis conditions, the construction of composite materials, and the preparation of derivatives of precursors. The review also presents the applications of Ni-MOFs and their derivatives as electrochemical sensors, energy storage devices, and electrocatalysts. Background: Many active peptides have been found in frog skin secretions. In this paper, our research focused on Pelophylax nigromaculatus and found a broad-spectrum antimicrobial peptide Nigrocin-PN based on the molecular cloning technique. Thereafter, the "Rana box" function was briefly studied by two mutated peptides (Nigrocin-M1 and Nigrocin-M2). Furthermore, in vitro and in vivo assays were used to characterize the peptide's biofunctions, and the peptide's function in treating multidrug-resistant pathogens was also studied., Results: Nigrocin-PN not only displayed potent antimicrobial abilities in vitro but also significantly ameliorated pulmonary inflammation induced by Klebsiella pneumoniae in vivo. By comparing, leucine-substituted analogue Nigrocin-M1 only displayed bactericidal abilities towards gram-positive bacteria, while the shorter analogue Nigrocin-M2 lost this function. More strikingly, Nigrocin-PN exhibited synergistic effects with commonly used antibiotics; in vitro evolution experiments revealed that coadministration between Nigrocin-PN and ampicillin could delay Staphylococcus aureus antibiotic resistance acquisition. Kinetics and morphology studies indicate that antibacterial mechanisms involved membrane destruction. Furthermore, toxicities and anticancer abilities of these peptides were also studied; compared to two analogues, Nigrocin-PN showed mild haemolytic activity and indistinctive cytotoxicity towards normal cell lines HMEC-1 and HaCaT., Conclusions: A broad-spectrum antimicrobial peptide Nigrocin-PN was discovered from the skin secretion of Pelophylax nigromaculatus. Manganese-based Metal-organic Frameworks (Mn-MOFs) represents a unique sub-class of MOFs with low toxicity, oxidative ability, and biocompatibility, which plays vital role in the application of this class of MOFs in medical field. Mn-MOFs show great potential in biomedical applications, and has been extensively studied as compared to other MOFs in transition metal series. They are important in medical applications because Mn(II) possess large electron spin number and longer electron relaxation time. They display fast water exchange rate and could be employed as a potential MRI contrast agent because of their strong targeting ability. Manganese complexes with different ligands also display prospective applications in area such as carrier for drug targeting in anti-tumor and antimicrobial therapy. In the review presented herewith, the application of Mn-based complexes and Mn-MOFs have been emphasized in the area such as imaging viz. MRI, multimodal imaging, antitumor activities such as chemodynamic therapy, photodynamic therapy, sonodynamic therapy and antimicrobial applications. Partial least square (PLS) combining with Raman spectroscopy was applied to develop predictive models for plasma paclitaxel concentration detection. In this experiment, 312 samples were scanned by Raman spectroscopy. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was applied to determine the paclitaxel concentration in 312 rat plasma samples. Monte Carlo partial least square (MCPLS) method was successfully performed to identify the outliers and the numbers of calibration set. Based on the values of degree of approach ( D a ), moving window partial least square (MWPLS) was used to choose the suitable preprocessing method, optimum wavelength variables and the number of latent variables. The correlation coefficients between reference values and predictive values in both calibration set ( R c 2 ) and validation set ( R p 2 ) of optimum PLS model were 0.933 1 and 0.926 4, respectively. Furthermore, an independent verification test was performed on the prediction model. The results showed that the correlation error of the 20 validation samples was 9.36%±2.03%, which confirmed the well predictive ability of established PLS quantitative analysis model.

To distinguish the randomness and chaos characteristics of physiological signals and to keep its performance independent of the signal length and parameters are the key judgement of performance of a complexity algorithm.We proposed an encoding Lempel-Ziv(LZ)complexity algorithm to try to explicitly discern between the randomness and chaos characteristics of signals.Our study also compared the effects of length of time series,the sensitivity to dynamical properties change of time series and quantifying the complexity between gauss noise and 1/f pink noise ELZ with those from classic LZ(CLZ),multi-state LZ(MLZ),sample entropy(SampEn)and permutation entropy(PE).The experimental results showed ELZ could not only distinguish the randomness and chaos characteristics of time series on all time length(i.e.100,500,5 000),but also reflected exactly that the complexity of gauss noise was lower than that of pink noise,and responded change of dynamic characteristics of time series in time.The congestive heart failure(CHF)RR Interval database and the normal sinus rhythm(NSR)RR Interval database created by Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT)and Boston Beth Israel Hospital(BIH)were used as real data in our study.The results revealed that the ELZ could show the complexity of congestive heart failure which was lower than that of normal sinus rhythm during all lengths of time series(P<0.01),and the ELZ algorithm had better generalization ability and was independent of length of time series.

A approach to segment the color image based on Hue-Saturation-Value (HSV) space was proposed, and it was used to segment the color image digitized from the bone sections stained with Masson-Goldner's Trichrome by CCD camera. According to HSV approach, color image was transformed from RGB space to HSV space at first, and then the image was segmented by using the threshold value of hue (90 < H < 150) and saturation (S > 0.25) to find the image of the green color stained trabecular. And then used the threshold value of saturation (S < 0.2) and value (V > V(background) x 0.95) to find the unstained high brightness field. At last, unstained high brightness fields which were concluded in stained trabecular image were filled with the color of trabecular, so the completely trabecular image could be drawn. The results showed that HSV approach was fast and simple, and it could be an efficient automatic algorithm.
