Chronic prostatitis is a prevalent male urinary system disorder characterized by pelvic discomfort or pain, bladder dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, and infertility. Pain and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) are the most common symptoms, significantly impacting patients' quality of life and driving them to seek medical attention. Transient receptor potential vanilloid subtype 1 (TRPV1) is a nonselective calcium ion-dependent cation channel in the TRPV channel family that is widely distributed in neural tissue and plays a role in signal transmission. In this review, we provide a comprehensive overview of the current understanding of the role of TRPV1 in chronic prostatitis. The discussion focuses on the connection between TRPV1 and prostatitis pain and LUTS, and highlights the potential for targeting this channel in the development of novel treatment strategies. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of tamsulosin combined with ginger moxibustion on lower urinary tract symptoms in elderly patients with prostatic hyperplasia. It provides basis and new way for the research and treatment of BPH. A total of 80 elderly patients with BPH and lower urinary tract symptoms admitted from March 2021 to July 2022 in our hospital were selected for the study. The patients were separated into ginger moxibustion group (G) with 40 patients and combined group (J) with 40 patients. Among them, the patients in Group G were only treated with ginger, while oral tamsulosin sustained release capsule combined with ginger was used in Group J. The course of treatment of both groups is 1 month, and the treatment is in progress. The changes of IPSS, QOL, residual urine volume, bladder volume, TCM symptom score and SF-36 score of patients in Group G and Group J were compared. Compared with Group G, the total IPSS score, SSS score, QOL score, bladder residual urine volume and TCM symptom score of Group J were lower (P<0.05) after treatment. The MFR, SF-36 score and the treatment efficiency in Group J were higher (P<0.05). Compared with simple ginger moxibustion, tamsulosin combined with ginger moxibustion can effectively improve the lower urinary tract symptoms of elderly patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Purpose: The objective of this study was to identify the relationship between COVID-19 and lower urinary tract symptoms in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Materials and methods: Data from forty outpatients who had recovered from COVID-19 and had previously been diagnosed with and treated medically for benign prostatic hyperplasia were assessed. Pre- and post-COVID-19 assessments were also conducted for prostate volume, total serum PSA concentration, and lower urinary tract symptoms. Hospitalizations related to COVID-19, the time interval between COVID-19 recovery and urologist referrals, and comorbidities were considered. Independent Student's t-tests or chi-square tests were used to compare changes in all variables. For the Spearman rank correlation analysis, only variables with a univariate analysis of p < 0.10 were included in the multiple regression models, with the significance threshold set at two-tailed p < 0.05. Results: After COVID-19, there was an increase in IPSS (12.87 ± 3.76), total serum PSA (1.56 ± 0.87), and prostate volume (10.68 ± 11.73). Multiple linear regression analysis of the independent predictors of IPSS increase revealed pre-COVID-19 IPSS with intermittency and straining as leading symptoms and bladder catheterization during COVID-19. Pre-COVID-19 frequency and nocturia status were found to be independent predictors of increased blood volume, hospital treatment for COVID-19, and bladder catheterization. A weak stream, UTI, and hypertension were found to be independent predictors of a PSA increase. The time from COVID-19 recovery to urologist referral was shorter in patients with post-COVID-19 IPSS increase (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Determining the predictors of the effects of COVID-19 on worsening BPH symptoms is essential for continued monitoring and treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: This study was conducted to assess the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) among non-obese and obese Palestinians. The study also aimed to assess the effects of LUTS on the quality of life of obese and non-obese Palestinians. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study that was conducted among normal-weight, overweight, and obese Palestinians using the King Health Questionnaire. The data collected from participants were entered and analyzed using SPSS (version 22). Results: In this study, data were collected from 378 participants. The median age of the participants was 42.0 [30.0, 55.0] years, and the median body mass index was 27.1 [24.0, 30.8] kg/m2. Of the participants, 149 (39.4%) were overweight and 112 (29.6%) were obese. The prevalence of urinary hesitancy, incomplete emptying, urgency, nocturia, urgency, urge incontinence, stress incontinence, nocturnal enuresis, intercourse incontinence, bladder pain, number of urinations/24 h, and number of urinations/night was significantly higher among obese participants. Similarly, role limitations, physical/social limitation, personal relationships, emotions, and sleep/energy were affected significantly higher in obese compared to nonobese participants. Conclusion: Higher prevalence of LUTS among obese patients compared to nonobese patients was observed among the Palestinians. Obese patients reported significantly higher deterioration of the quality of life as a result of LUTS compared to nonobese patients. Urologists, nutritionists, public health specialists, and other healthcare providers should consider measures to reduce LUTS among obese patients and improve their quality of life. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a prevalent age-related condition often characterized by debilitating urinary symptoms. Its etiology is believed to stem from hormonal imbalance, particularly an elevated estradiol-to-testosterone ratio and chronic inflammation. Our previous studies using a mouse steroid hormone imbalance model identified a specific increase in macrophages that migrated and accumulated in the prostate lumen where they differentiated into lipid-laden foam cells in mice implanted with testosterone and estradiol pellets, but not in sham animals. The current study focused on further characterizing the cellular heterogeneity of the prostate in this model as well as identifying the specific transcriptomic signature of the recruited foam cells. Moreover, we aimed to identify epithelia-derived signals that drive macrophage infiltration and luminal translocation. Male C57BL/6J mice were implanted with slow-release testosterone and estradiol pellets (T + E2) or sham surgery was performed and the ventral prostates were harvested two weeks later for scRNA-seq analysis. We identified Ear2 + and Cd72 + macrophages that were elevated in response to steroid hormone imbalance, whereas a Mrc1 + resident macrophage population did not change. In addition, an Spp1 + foam cell cluster was almost exclusively found in T + E2 mice. Further markers of foam cells were also identified, including Gpnmb and Trem2, and GPNMB was confirmed as a novel histological marker with immunohistochemistry. Foam cells were also shown to express known pathological factors Vegf, Tgfb1, Ccl6, Cxcl16 and Mmp12. Intriguingly, a screen for chemokines identified the upregulation of epithelia-derived Cxcl17, a known monocyte attractant, in T + E2 prostates suggesting that it might be responsible for the elevated macrophage number as well as their translocation to the lumen. Our study identified macrophage subsets that responded to steroid hormone imbalance as well as further confirmed a potential pathological role of luminal foam cells in the prostate. Objectives: To evaluate the effect of urethral catheterization on the accuracy of EMG uroflowmetry in children with non-neurogenic voiding disorders during pressure-flow (PF) studies compared to the non-invasive EMG uroflowmetry test. Methods: A retrospective study of children undergoing a urodynamic evaluation at our institution between 8/2018 and 7/2022 was employed. Urination curves and pelvic floor muscle activity were compared between PF studies and non-invasive EMG uroflowmetry test. The non-invasive test was selected as the standard benchmark. Results: 104 children were tested, with 34 children (33%) being able to urinate only in a non-invasive EMG uroflowmetry. The percentage of boys unable to urinate with a catheter was significantly higher than girls (54% vs. 13%, p-value < 0.001). In 70 children, a normal bell-shaped urination curve was found in 13 compared to 33 children in the PF studies and non-invasive uroflowmetry, respectively. PF studies demonstrated a specificity of 39% (95% CI 23–57) and a positive predictive value (PPV) of 61% (95% CI 53–67) in finding non-bell-shaped curves. Relaxation of pelvic muscles was found in 21 (30%) as opposed to 39 (55%) of children in invasive and non-invasive EMG uroflowmetry, respectively (p-value = 0.5). Conclusion: The accuracy of PF studies in children, primarily in boys, compared to the non-invasive uroflowmetry, was poor. This may pose potential errors in diagnosis and subsequent treatment. We recommend completing a non-invasive EMG uroflowmetry in cases where the child refused to urinate, or pathology was found, requiring a modification in treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: One-fourth of men older than 70 years have lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) that impair their quality of life. Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is considered the gold standard for surgical treatment of LUTS caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) that cannot be managed conservatively or pharmacologically. However, TURP is only an option for patients fit for surgery and can result in complications. Transurethral microwave thermotherapy (TUMT) and prostatic artery embolisation (PAE) are alternative minimally invasive surgical therapies (MISTs) performed in an outpatient setting. Both treatments have shown to reduce LUTS with a similar post-procedure outcome in mean International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS). It is however still unknown if TUMT and PAE perform equally well as they have never been directly compared in a randomised clinical trial. The objective of this clinical trial is to assess if PAE is non-inferior to TUMT in reducing LUTS secondary to BPH. Methods: This study is designed as a multicentre, non-inferiority, open-label randomised clinical trial. Patients will be randomised with a 1:1 allocation ratio between treatments. The primary outcome is the IPSS of the two arms after 6 months. The primary outcome will be evaluated using a 95% confidence interval against the predefined non-inferiority margin of + 3 points in IPSS. Secondary objectives include the comparison of patient-reported and functional outcomes at short- and long-term follow-up. We will follow the patients for 5 years to track long-term effect. Assuming a difference in mean IPSS after treatment of 1 point with an SD of 5 and a non-inferiority margin set at the threshold for a clinically non-meaningful difference of + 3 points, the calculated sample size was 100 patients per arm. To compensate for 10% dropout, the study will include 223 patients. Discussion: In this first randomised clinical trial to compare two MISTs, we expect non-inferiority of PAE to TUMT. The most prominent problems with MIST BPH treatments are the unknown long-term effect and the lack of proper selection of candidates for a specific procedure. With analysis of the secondary outcomes, we aspire to contribute to a better understanding of durability and provide knowledge to guide treatment decisions. Purpose: Recent research has highlighted the mechanotransducer PIEZO2 as a crucial factor in lower urinary tract function, demonstrating associations with bladder compliance (BC), bladder wall thickening, and elevated bladder pressure. We explored the hypothesis that PIEZO2 expression may be associated with lower urinary tract dysfunction in men with bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods: The study included a consecutive series of patients undergoing open prostatectomy for BPH at our hospital between September 2014 and January 2016. All participants underwent comprehensive preoperative evaluations, including urodynamic assessments. During prostatectomy, a full-thickness fragment of the bladder wall was obtained for subsequent PIEZO2 gene expression analysis. Cadaveric organ donors served as the control group. Results: PIEZO2 expression was downregulated in the detrusor muscle of men with BPH compared to the control group. Among patients with BPH, those experiencing urinary retention and requiring an indwelling catheter exhibited significantly lower PIEZO2 messenger RNA (mRNA) expression than patients capable of spontaneous voiding. PIEZO2 mRNA expression was similar in men with and without detrusor overactivity. Additionally, a positive correlation was found between PIEZO2 mRNA expression levels and BC. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that PIEZO2 is downregulated in the detrusor muscle of men with BPH, particularly in those experiencing urinary retention and those with reduced BC. These results suggest a potential role for PIEZO2 in BOOinduced bladder dysfunction. This study investigates the impact of radiotherapy (RT) on lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in patients with gynecologic malignancies, focusing on those who have undergone surgical treatment. We conducted a cross-sectional study from January to June 2023 at a tertiary hospital's outpatient polyclinic. Participants included patients with early-stage cervical cancer and endometrial cancer who received adjuvant RT postsurgery, and advanced cervical cancer patients who received primary RT. Patients were divided into two groups: those who received RT (RT (+)) and those who did not receive (RT (-)). Sociodemographic data were collected and LUTS were assessed using the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (ICIQ-FLUTS). Out of 64 patients, 38 (59%) did not receive RT and 26 (41%) received RT. The RT (+) group had significantly higher scores in filling (p=0.038), voiding (p=0.046), and incontinence (p=0.012) compared to the RT (-) group. Additionally, the RT (+) group reported a significantly lower quality of life (p=0.009). Our study found that radiotherapy is associated with increased lower urinary tract dysfunction, including symptoms in the filling, voiding, and incontinence phases. Patients who received RT also experienced a decreased quality of life compared to the RT (-) group. Introduction: The aim of our study was to treat 2 similar groups of patients suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH): one group with a complex of phytochemicals based on phycocyanin, Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and selenium; the other group with dutasteride. The effectiveness of these treatments was checked, especially regarding the improvement of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and the reduction of prostatic specific antigen (PSA) and prostate volume. Materials and methods: We included 104 patients in the study. All patients were aged between 50 and 70 years, with PSA values between 4 and 10 ng/ml, prostate volume, as calculated by transrectal ultrasound between 50 and 70 cc, maximum flow value greater than or equal to 10 ml/s at flowmetry, no suspicious nodules on difital rectal examination (DRE), no suspicious lesions on magnetic resonance imaging MRI (PI-RADS 1-2), negative previous prostatic biopsies or never biopsied, moreover absence of diabetes mellitus or chronic renal failure (blood creatinine > 2 mg/dl). We considered: Group A of 54 men who used the complex of phytochemicals; Group B of 50 patients treated with dutasteride. We followed all the patients for 6 months after starting therapy, considering the following parameters: PSA, prostate volume, and flowmetry. Results: Our results showed that both dutasteride and the phytochemicals complex decreased PSA levels (p < 0.0001 for both), with a more significant effect of dutasteride (mean decrease of -2.743 ng/ml vs -0.971 ng/ml). Uroflowmetry also improved in both groups ( p < 0.0001) with a mean increase in maximum flow of urine of + 3.03 ml/min for the dutasteride group and + 13.02 ml/min for phytochemicals complex group. Lastly, dutasteride proved to be highly effective on reducing the prostate volume on transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) (-22.14 ml, p < 0.0001) compared to the complex of phytochemicals, which showed a mean decrease of -10.04 ml (p < 0.0001). Moreover, the reduction in prostate volume obtained through the use of dutasteride proved to be more consistent than the one obtained by using the complex of phytochemicals even at statistical analysis (p < 0.0001). Conclusions: Both the complex of phytochemicals and dutasteride showed reduction of PSA values after 6 months of treatment. The complex based on phycocyanin, PEA and selenium showed a statistically significant improvement in urinary flow, while dutasteride acted more on the volume of the prostate. However, the natural complex is a product with good efficacy on the phlogistic component and does not have the side effects of dutasteride (eg gynecomastia, reduced libido). Therefore, we believe it can be used by a large part of the population with BPH, in order to reduce LUTS and PSA and improve urinary flow, without side effects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Rezum alleviates lower urinary tract symptoms secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) while preserving sexual function, but long-term sexual function outcomes are lacking in patients with baseline erectile dysfunction (ED). Aim: The study sought to analyze 4 years of real-world sexual function outcomes of Rezum using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) questionnaire, stratified by baseline ED status. Methods: Participants included multiethnic Rezum-treated patients from a single outpatient office. IIEF domains and BPH medication usage were compared at baseline and 6, 12, and 48 months using t tests, Mann-Whitney U tests, chi-square tests, and Wilcoxon signed rank tests. Outcomes: Primary outcomes over 4 years included the IIEF functional domains (erectile function [EF], orgasmic function [OF], sexual desire [SD], intercourse satisfaction [IS], overall satisfaction [OS]) and BPH medication usage. Results: A total of 91 patients were included: 40 (44%) in the ED cohort and 51 (56%) in the no ED cohort. History of diabetes was more prevalent in the ED cohort (35% vs 15.7%; P = .048). Baseline scores in the EF, OF, IS, and OS domains were lower in the ED cohort. Compared with baseline, there were no significant changes in any IIEF domains in either cohort at 6 months. At 12 months, the ED cohort had significant percent decreases in OF (−25%; P = .02), SD (−22.2%; P = .04), and OS (−33.3%; P = .004); the no ED cohort had a significant percent increase in EF (5%; P = .04). At 48 months, the no ED cohort had no significant changes in any IIEF domains, while the ED cohort had significant percent increases in EF (30%; P = .01), SD (22.5%; P = .02), IS (20%; P = .01), and OS (58.3%; P = .008). Both cohorts significantly discontinued BPH medications at all follow-ups. At 48 months, there were no cases of de novo ED in the no ED cohort. Clinical Implications: As modern BPH therapies continue to demonstrate efficacy in alleviating lower urinary tract symptoms, the preservation or improvement of sexual function emerges as an increasingly important consideration for patients, with our study suggesting Rezum as a compelling option. Strengths and Limitations: Our study has the strength of long-term Rezum outcomes in an ethnically diverse patient population, stratified by the presence of baseline ED, but is limited by retrospective design, single-center nature, and small sample sizes at long-term follow-ups. Conclusion: Rezum preserved long-term sexual function in patients without baseline ED and improved sexual function in those with baseline ED; however, individuals with ED may experience temporary decreases in sexual function at 12 months. Introduction: Surgical treatment for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) has advanced significantly in recent years. Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) is a minimally invasive procedure associated with a low risk of complications and clinical limitations, including life-threatening Transurethral Resection (TUR) syndrome, as, well as higher costs due to longer hospital stays and challenges in managing large glands. Aim: To compare the safety and effectiveness of prostate enucleation using Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) with bipolar resection of the prostate in cases of BPH. Materials and Methods: A hospital-based prospective interventional study was conducted in the Department of Urology, Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pune, Maharashtra, India, from January 2020 to July 2022. The study included 60 patients, divided into two groups of 30 each. Males aged =45 years with recurrent Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) secondary to BPH, with or without Acute Urinary Retention (AUR) (drug-refractory) or with failed medical therapy (alpha-blockers, 5-alpha reductase inhibitors), were included in the study. In the first group, HoLEP was performed (Group I), while in the second group (Group II), patients underwent bipolar resection. Data were analysed and statistically evaluated using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 21.0. A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The mean age of patients in the HoLEP group was 60.25 years, while in the Bipolar TURP (B-TURP) group, it was 59.67 years. Both groups had similar proportions of patients with moderate urinary symptoms {International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS)} and large prostates (>80 grams). The mean amount of irrigation fluid used (40.83±9 litres vs. 21.2±5.9 litres) and the duration of surgery (106.33±14.24 min vs. 67.4±9.73 minutes) were significantly higher in the HoLEP group compared to the B-TURP group (p-value<0.001). Postoperative catheterisation time (1.003±0.23 days vs. 2.38±0.52 days) (p<0.001) and length of hospital stay (3.2±0.65 days vs. 4.67±1.32 days) (p<0.001) were significantly longer in the B-TURP group compared to the HoLEP group. Both the HoLEP and bipolar resection of the prostate groups did not experience significant intraoperative or immediate postoperative complications; however, one patient in the HoLEP group developed urethral stricture as a late complication. Conclusion: The B-TURP procedure is an equally effective and feasible method for treating BPH patients, with a smaller learning curve and lesser financial burden. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: In this study, we aimed to perform a network meta‐analysis (NMA) to investigate the effects of different testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) administration routes on lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in aging men with late‐onset hypogonadism (LOH). Methods: A systematic search of PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, CNKI, WanFang Data, and VIP was conducted to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) reporting data on International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), prostate‐specific antigen (PSA) level, or prostate volume. NMA was performed, and subgroup analysis was conducted to assess the impact of TRT duration on outcomes. Results: A total of 21 RCTs involving 2453 participants were included. For pairwise meta‐analysis, p values for TRT delivered by transdermal, intramuscular, and oral routes were as follows: IPSS: 0.93, 0.20, and 0.76; PSA level: 0.20, 0.27, and 0.98; prostate volume: 0.18, 0.04, and 0.16. There were no significant differences in IPSS, PSA level, or prostate volume between TRT routes. In subgroup analysis, long‐term intramuscular TRT significantly decreased IPSS (p = 0.03), short‐term transdermal TRT increased PSA levels (p < 0.001), and short‐term intramuscular TRT increased the prostate volume (p = 0.04). Other forms of TRT showed no significant change in IPSS, PSA level, and prostate volume compared with the placebo. Indirect comparison of the three administration routes demonstrated no significant differences in IPSS, PSA level, and prostate volume. Nevertheless, surface under the cumulative ranking curve analysis indicated that intramuscular TRT had an 83% probability of being the best method for decreasing IPSS. Conclusions: The results demonstrate that TRT does not worsen LUTS regardless of the administration route. Intramuscular TRT may be the preferred treatment for aging men with LOH and LUTS. Intramuscular TRT may be the preferred treatment for men with LOH and LUTS. Further research is warranted to validate these findings and optimize TRT management strategies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: To evaluate factors impacting continence recovery following holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) for surgeons early in their HoLEP experience. Methods: Predefined factors were evaluated from a prospectively maintained database for their impact on the recovery of continence after HoLEP. Both surgeons had performed fewer than 150 HoLEPs as attending physicians. Inclusion criteria were subjects with at least 6 months of incontinence data or documented recovery of continence. One or fewer pads per day was defined as continence. Statistical analyses were performed using R and Prism and included Spearman correlations, linear modeling, and Mantel–Cox log‐rank testing as appropriate. Results: From December 2020 to May 2023, 152 subjects met inclusion criteria with a median age of 70 (range: 51–93). The median case number was 56 (1–146). Within the study period, 144/152 (94.7%) recovered continence at a median of 1.6 months postoperatively. Linear modeling demonstrated that younger age (p = 0.01) and shorter enucleation time (p = 0.001) predicted recovery. Enucleation time less than 100 min predicted earlier continence recovery based on Mantel–Cox testing (p = 0.0004). Conclusions: During the surgeons' HoLEP learning curve, age, and enucleation time were predictive of the recovery of continence. Enucleation time under 100 min predicted a faster rate of continence recovery. The relationship between enucleation time and continence recovery may be demonstrative of case difficulty or may be a result of pressure on the external urethral sphincter during enucleation. Objectives: To evaluate the possible association between androgenic alopecia (AGA) and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods: A total of 148 patients aged over 45 with LUTS secondary to BPH were prospectively enrolled in this study. According to the Norwood–Hamilton classification, the patients were divided into two groups: AGA (n = 69) and non‐AGA (n = 79). In addition, the cases of AGA were categorized as vertex (n = 39) and frontal baldness (n = 30). The International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), uroflowmetry parameters, prostate volume, serum total testosterone (TT), and free and total prostate‐specific antigen concentrations of all patients were assessed and compared between the groups. Correlations between the AGA grade and other variables were also investigated. Results: The serum TT level (354 ± 97.1 vs. 308.6 ± 73.1 ng/dL, p = 0.01), total IPSS (16.1 ± 8.1 vs. 13.4 ± 7.7, p = 0.04), IPSS storage subscore (IPSS‐S) (7.1 ± 3.5 vs. 5.8 ± 3.6, p = 0.03), and number of nocturia episodes (2.5 ± 1.4 vs. 1.8 ± 1.4, p < 0.01) were significantly higher in the AGA group than in the non‐AGA group. There were no significant differences in any of the parameters between the patients with vertex and frontal baldness. The AGA grade showed a significant positive correlation with the TT level (r = 0.407, p = 0.003), IPSS‐S (r = 0.164, p = 0.04), and number of nocturia episodes (r = 0.203, p = 0.015). Conclusions: This study demonstrated that among patients with LUTS, those with AGA had worse symptoms and higher TT levels compared with those without AGA of similar age. Purpose: This study aims to prospectively analyze the effects of anticholinergic therapy using imidafenacin on detrusor overactivity occurring after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). Materials and Methods: Patients were followed-up at outpatient visits 2-4 weeks post-surgery (visit 2) to confirm the presence of urinary incontinence. Those confirmed with urinary incontinence were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to the anticholinergic medication group (imidafenacin 0.1 mg twice daily) or the control group. Patients were followed-up at 1, 3, and 6 months post-surgery for observational assessments, including the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and Overactive Bladder Symptom Score (OABSS). Results: A total of 49 patients (25 in the treatment group and 24 in the control group) were randomized for the study. There were no differences observed between the groups in terms of age, comorbidities, prostate size, or pathological staging. According to the IPSS questionnaire results, there was no statistically significant difference between the medication and control groups (p=0.161). However, when comparing storage and voiding symptoms separately, there was a statistically significant improvement in storage symptom scores (p=0.012). OABSS also revealed statistically significant improvement in symptoms from 3 months post-surgery (p=0.005), which persisted until 6 months post-surgery (IPSS storage: p=0.023, OABSS: p=0.013). Conclusions: In the case of urinary incontinence that occurs after RARP, even if the function of the intrinsic sphincter is sufficiently preserved, if urinary incontinence persists due to changes in the bladder, pharmacological therapy using imidafenacin can be beneficial in managing urinary incontinence. Purpose: Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors are primarily preferred in patients with type 2 diabetes. The purpose of this paper was to elucidate the effects of SGLT-2 inhibitor use on patients' voiding habits, sleep, and quality of life. Methods: Our study involved patients with type 2 diabetes who had an SGLT2 inhibitor added to their current treatment. The frequency of day-night urination, lower urinary tract symptoms, sleep and quality of life were assessed both prior to initiation of the treatment and during subsequent 1st and 3rd months. Results: The study included 38 women and 34 men. At the third month after SGLT-2 inhibitor had been added, there was a significant decrease in HbA1c, triglyceride and microalbumin levels (p<0.05). There was no increase in voiding frequency (day/night) and there was no difference in the evaluation of lower urinary tract symptoms, but voiding volumes increased in uroflowmetry. When the short form-36 (SF-36) scale was examined, there was a significant improvement in physical function, one of the sub-parameters (p = 0.01). The factor affecting this most, was the improvement in HbA1c. Conclusion: This paper suggests that SGLT-2 inhibitors don't increase voiding frequency and don't cause an increase in lower urinary tract symptoms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Detrusor overactivity with detrusor underactivity (DO‐DU) is classically described in frail institutionalized elderly patients, but we have also observed this diagnosis in younger populations. This research aims to identify the differences between two age groups of DO‐DU patients. Materials and Methods: This study included DO‐DU patients from a single center from 2012 to 2023. Patients were divided into two groups: the "Younger" group (aged less than 70 years) and the "Older" group (aged 70 years or older). We separately compared demographics, the number of risk factors considered to affect bladder function, clinical presentations, and urodynamic findings between these two groups in each gender. Results: There were 210 patients included in the analysis, with 50.48% in the younger group and 49.52% in the older group. The median ages of males and females in the younger group were 57 and 62 years, whereas the median ages of males and females in the older group were 76.5 and 76 years. Multiple sclerosis exhibited statistically significant prevalence in the younger patients (7.7% vs. 0%, p = 0.03 in males and 19.9% vs. 4.6% in females). While diabetes mellitus (DM) was more prevalent in the older males (20.0% vs. 4.6%, p = 0.01), transabdominal hysterectomy was more common in the younger females (46.3% vs. 25%, p = 0.04). 69.8% of the younger group and 71.2% of the older group have at least one risk factor that impact their bladder function. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups across various risk factor categories. The older males reported a higher incidence of urgency (78.3% vs. 58.5%, p = 0.02) and urge incontinence (61.7% vs. 32.3%, p < 0.01), while the younger females reported a higher incidence of straining during voiding on history (46.3% vs. 20.5%, p = 0.01). The younger males exhibited a greater volume of strong desire to void (385 vs. 300 mL, p = 0.01), maximal cystometric capacity (410 vs. 300 mL, p < 0.01), and a lower highest detrusor overactivity (DO) pressure (37 vs. 50.5 cmH2O, p = 0.02). The younger group had a higher postvoid residual (170 vs. 85 mL in males, p < 0.01 and 180 vs. 120 mL in females, p = 0.02). The voiding efficiency was lower in younger females (40% vs. 60%, p = 0.02). In both ages, the ICS detrusor contraction index and projected isovolumetric pressure 1 were similar. However, without considering risk factors, the older males had the highest DO pressure (57 vs. 29 cmH2O, p < 0.01), and the younger males had a higher voiding pressure (PdetQmax) than the older males (28 vs. 20 cmH2O, p = 0.02). Conclusion: DO‐DU is not exclusive to elderly patients. It can also be diagnosed in individuals with risk factors regardless of age; therefore, clinicians need a high degree of suspicion, especially in patients who have risk factor(s) for DO and DU. A notable clinical differentiation is that older males diagnosed with DO‐DU have a higher incidence of urgency and urge urinary incontinence, while younger females have a higher incidence of straining. Background: Fecal incontinence, constipation, and pelvic pain are common pelvic floor symptoms (PFS), and frequently coexist with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). However, their association with the longitudinal trajectory of LUTS have not been well described. Our objective was to investigate the association between PFS and the course of LUTS in community‐dwelling men and women. Methods: Men and women aged ≥16 years were invited to participate in a prospective observational cohort study. At baseline, and after 12 and 24 months, participants filled in the International Consultation on Incontinence Modular Questionnaire (ICIQ‐MLUTS and ICIQ‐FLUTS) for men and women respectively, the Wexner incontinence and constipation scale, and a questionnaire on pelvic pain. Generalized estimating equations were used to examine the association between change scores in defecation problems and pelvic pain, and LUTS change scores. Results: A total of 694 men and 997 women gave informed consent, with 417 men and 566 women included in the analysis. The mean age was 63.2 ± 12.7 years for men and 58.6 ± 14.8 years for women. The study showed minor changes in LUTS scores over the 0–12 and 12–24‐month periods. Generalized estimating equations revealed positive associations between changes in constipation and fecal incontinence and LUTS changes in both sexes. For instance, a one‐point increase in Wexner constipation score was associated with 0.376 (0.165, 0.587) points higher LUTS change in men and 0.223 (0.109, 0.336) points in women during the 0–12‐month follow‐up. However, associations between changes in pain and LUTS scores varied across sexes and time periods. Conclusions: We observed minor changes in LUTS over time and weak associations between PFS and LUTS that sometimes differed between males and females, emphasizing the need for sex‐specific considerations. Purpose: To investigate whether MRI-guided transrectal laser ablation is safe and effective for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms caused by BPH. Materials and Methods: This single-center retrospective cohort study evaluated men who underwent MRI-guided transrectal laser ablation for BPH between February 2017 and July 2021. Age, prostate-specific antigen, prostate volume, prior surgical BPH treatments if any, International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and Sexual Health Inventory of Men (SHIM) were collected. The primary outcome measures assessed were change in IPSS and SHIM 6, 12 and 24 months after laser ablation and adverse events. Results: Fifty-two patients were included, having completed at least one follow-up survey. The mean patient age was 62.9 ± 5.7 years, and mean prostate volume was 80.2 ± 39.2 cc. Eighteen patients (34.6%) had received a prior BPH treatment. The IPSS scores dropped an average of 16.7 ± 7.0 (p < 0.001), 16.9 ± 7.5 (p < 0.001) and 17.1 ± 7.2 (p < 0.001) points from baseline at 6, 12 and 24 months, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in IPSS score drop between patients who had received a prior BPH procedure and those who had not (p = 0.628). The SHIM scores showed a statistically insignificant increase at all time points. Nineteen patients (36.5%) reported a complication. There were 12 grade II complications (23%) and seven grade I complications (13.5%). There were no grade III or higher complications. Conclusion: Transrectal MRI-guided focal laser ablation is safe and effective for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms caused by BPH, with a significant improvement in symptom severity after 2 years. INTRODUCTION. Overactive bladder syndrome is caused by many factors including obesity, insulin resistance and poor dietary habits. Since it is a chronic disease and needs time to be treated, introducing telepilates in addition to Mediterranean diet would encourage better adherence and results to the treatment program. AIM. To assess the impact of a virtual group-based telerehabilitation program on overactive bladder symptoms and metabolic health in women with obesity. MATERIAL AND METHODS. Eighty obese women (BMI 30.0–34.9 kg/m2) between the ages of 35 and 45 were allocated into two equal groups, 40 for each: (A) supervised telepilates and (B) unsupervised telepilates. The supervised group participated in a 12-week Pilates workout program over videoconference platforms three times a week. Meanwhile, the unsupervised group only received four online meetings. The groups’ diet was the Mediterranean style. The Hemostatic Model of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR), body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), Patient Perception of Urgency Scale (PPIUS), Overactive Bladder Questionnaire Short Form (OAB-q SF), and Telehealth Usability Scale (TUS) were measured. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The supervised telepilates group exhibited statistically significant amelioration of overactive bladder symptoms and a reduction in HOMA-IR (p 0.001), while the unsupervised telepilates group showed insignificant changes in these measures (p 0.05). Furthermore, the supervised telepilates group showed significantly greater reductions in BMI and WC (p 0.001) than the unsupervised telepilates group (p 0.05). Additionally, the supervised telegroup outperformed the unsupervised telegroup on all parameters of TUS (p 0.001) CONCLUSION. Women with obesity experienced decrease in overactive bladder symptoms and improved metabolic health after completing a 12-week telepilates training program.

Abstract This study aims to present age-stratified prevalence of women with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) but without cystocele and predict detrusor underactivity (DU) or bladder outlet obstruction (BOO). Between 2005 and 2020, we reviewed women who visited the medical center with LUTS but without cystocele. Positive voiding dysfunction (VD) symptoms were defined as any one or more of the positive descriptions of weak urinary stream, intermittency, strain to urination, and sensation of not emptying. A total of 1,886 women were included in this study. 189 (10.0%) women were diagnosed with DU, and 77 (4.1%) women had BOO. Multivariate logistic regression analysis found that voided volume and VD symptoms were independent predictors for BOO. ROC curve analyses could predict BOO by voided volume ≤ 220 mL derived from uroflowmetry and the presence of VD symptoms with an area under a curve of 0.83. Age and voided volume could predict DU with an area under a curve of 0.82. We found a higher percentage of BOO in women with positive VD symptoms. A non-invasive uroflowmetry with voided volume (≤ 220 mL) and the presence of VD symptoms can predict BOO. DU could be predicted by age and voided volume.

Abstract Background According to the guidelines of the European Association of Urology, open simple prostatectomy should be offered to men with a prostate size exceeding 80 mL suffering from moderate to severe LUTS in the absence of a transurethral enucleation technique. However, open simple prostatectomy is associated with complications such as bleeding, blood transfusions and increased length of stay compared to minimally invasive procedures. The aim of the study was to compare perioperative data from the first cases of robotic assisted simple prostatectomy (RASP) to that of patients subjected to open simple prostatectomy (OSP) at our department. Methods The patients were identified by a search for the respective procedure codes. In the OSP group enucleation of the adenoma was performed through the prostatic capsule (Millin procedure), while access to the adenoma was gained through the bladder in the RASP group. Complications were scored according to the Clavien-Dindo classification system. Results 27 patients who underwent OSP were retrospectively identified and compared to the first 26 patients who were subjected to RASP. The groups were similar with respect to age, body mass index and ASA score. Operative time was significantly shorter in the OSP group compared to the RASP group. Bleeding volume, drop in postoperative hemoglobin and the number of blood transfusions were all significantly higher in the OSP group compared to the RASP group. However, to date, the association of aggression with LUTS and OAB has not been investigated. To address this knowledge gap, we evaluated the association of aggression with LUTS and OAB in a large representative cohort of men at the population level. Methods: We used computer-assisted web interviews that included reliable questionnaires for assessment of LUTS, OAB, and aggression. Background and objective: A urodynamic study (UDS) is a routine clinic procedure that can cause significant discomfort for certain patients, with no satisfactory analgesic alternatives currently available. Our aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of low-dose self-adjusted nitrous oxide (SANO), titrated to the patient’s desired effect, on standard metrics for bladder function and on patient-reported pain and anxiety. Methods: We conducted a single-institution, double-blind, randomized crossover trial in adults undergoing UDS. Each patient underwent two consecutive UDS runs, randomized to receive oxygen during the first run followed by SANO during the second run, or vice versa. UDS outcomes (capacity, detrusor strength, residual volume) and patient subjective outcomes (Visual Analog Scale for pain and anxiety, operator assessment of verbal feedback) were compared between the two runs. Secondary analyses were performed to compare outcomes during the first UDS run and adjust for treatment order. A paired Wilcoxon signed rank-sum test and McNemar’s χ2 test were used to compare continuous and categorical variables, respectively. Adverse events were recorded. Key findings and limitations: Nineteen patients were randomized (10 to oxygen for the first run, 9 to SANO for the first run). UDS outcomes did not differ between the two arms. Patients reported significantly less pain during the SANO run than during the oxygen run (p = 0.046). Verbal feedback was significantly better with SANO (p = 0.001). Most patients (15/19, 79%) stated that they would prefer to receive SANO during future UDS. There were no significant complications. Conclusions and clinical implications: SANO oxide is a safe and effective means of preserving standard adult UDS metrics while significantly reducing patient-reported pain. Patient summary: Urodynamic tests (UDS) for evaluation of lower urinary tract symptoms can cause discomfort and pain. Our study shows that nitrous oxide gas self-adjusted by patients had no effect on UDS test outcomes or on verbal feedback during the procedure, and reduced discomfort and pain in comparison to oxygen. Nitrous oxide may an attractive option for patients who are reluctant to undergo UDS.

Men have a significantly shorter life expectancy compared to women, with disparities further magnified among those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) constitute a large proportion of the health disparity between men and women. Up to 40% of the chronic disease burden in men could be mitigated through risk factor management or early intervention. This disparity is often attributed to the engagement with primary and preventive healthcare by men which is influenced by health literacy, accessibility of care and socio-economic status. The manuscript proposes that genitourinary symptoms, specifically erectile dysfunction (ED) and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), are sentinel indicators of chronic diseases or their risk factors in men. LUTS and ED share risk factors with major chronic disorders like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity, and are associated with depression and obstructive sleep apnea. Both ED and LUTS are meaningful to men and can motivate seeking care, providing healthcare providers an opportunity for preventative measures and early treatment. Such an approach also ameliorates the LUTS and ED symptoms and substantially improves quality of life. We advocate for a targeted approach that uses ED and nocturia as entry points for engaging men in healthcare. This involves public health education to raise awareness about the significance of these symptoms and encouraging healthcare providers to actively inquire about them during consultations. By addressing these symptoms, healthcare practitioners can better identify and treat underlying chronic conditions early, potentially reducing morbidity and mortality among men and helping to narrow the sex related health outcome disparities between genders.

Introduction: Surgical treatment for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) has advanced significantly in recent years. Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) is a minimally invasive procedure associated with a low risk of complications and clinical limitations, including life-threatening Transurethral Resection (TUR) syndrome, as, well as higher costs due to longer hospital stays and challenges in managing large glands. Aim: To compare the safety and effectiveness of prostate enucleation using Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) with bipolar resection of the prostate in cases of BPH. Materials and Methods: A hospital-based prospective interventional study was conducted in the Department of Urology, Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pune, Maharashtra, India, from January 2020 to July 2022. The study included 60 patients, divided into two groups of 30 each. Males aged ≥45 years with recurrent Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) secondary to BPH, with or without Acute Urinary Retention (AUR) (drug-refractory) or with failed medical therapy (alpha-blockers, 5-alpha reductase inhibitors), were included in the study. In the first group, HoLEP was performed (Group I), while in the second group (Group II), patients underwent bipolar resection. Data were analysed and statistically evaluated using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 21.0. A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The mean age of patients in the HoLEP group was 60.25 years, while in the Bipolar TURP (B-TURP) group, it was 59.67 years. Both groups had similar proportions of patients with moderate urinary symptoms {International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS)} and large prostates (>80 grams). Purpose Recent research has highlighted the mechanotransducer PIEZO2 as a crucial factor in lower urinary tract function, demonstrating associations with bladder compliance (BC), bladder wall thickening, and elevated bladder pressure. We explored the hypothesis that PIEZO2 expression may be associated with lower urinary tract dysfunction in men with bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods The study included a consecutive series of patients undergoing open prostatectomy for BPH at our hospital between September 2014 and January 2016. All participants underwent comprehensive preoperative evaluations, including urodynamic assessments. During prostatectomy, a full-thickness fragment of the bladder wall was obtained for subsequent PIEZO2 gene expression analysis. Cadaveric organ donors served as the control group. Results PIEZO2 expression was downregulated in the detrusor muscle of men with BPH compared to the control group. Among patients with BPH, those experiencing urinary retention and requiring an indwelling catheter exhibited significantly lower PIEZO2 messenger RNA (mRNA) expression than patients capable of spontaneous voiding. PIEZO2 mRNA expression was similar in men with and without detrusor overactivity. Additionally, a positive correlation was found between PIEZO2 mRNA expression levels and BC. Conclusions Our findings indicate that PIEZO2 is downregulated in the detrusor muscle of men with BPH, particularly in those experiencing urinary retention and those with reduced BC. These results suggest a potential role for PIEZO2 in BOOinduced bladder dysfunction. Further research is required to clarify the role of PIEZO mechanotransducers in the bladder and to explore their therapeutic implications.

Abstract Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a prevalent age-related condition often characterized by debilitating urinary symptoms. Its etiology is believed to stem from hormonal imbalance, particularly an elevated estradiol-to-testosterone ratio and chronic inflammation. Our previous studies using a mouse steroid hormone imbalance model identified a specific increase in macrophages that migrated and accumulated in the prostate lumen where they differentiated into lipid-laden foam cells in mice implanted with testosterone and estradiol pellets, but not in sham animals. The current study focused on further characterizing the cellular heterogeneity of the prostate in this model as well as identifying the specific transcriptomic signature of the recruited foam cells. Moreover, we aimed to identify epithelia-derived signals that drive macrophage infiltration and luminal translocation. Male C57BL/6J mice were implanted with slow-release testosterone and estradiol pellets (T + E2) or sham surgery was performed and the ventral prostates were harvested two weeks later for scRNA-seq analysis. We identified Ear2 + and Cd72 + macrophages that were elevated in response to steroid hormone imbalance, whereas a Mrc1 + resident macrophage population did not change. In addition, an Spp1 + foam cell cluster was almost exclusively found in T + E2 mice. Further markers of foam cells were also identified, including Gpnmb and Trem2, and GPNMB was confirmed as a novel histological marker with immunohistochemistry. Foam cells were also shown to express known pathological factors Vegf, Tgfb1, Ccl6, Cxcl16 and Mmp12. Intriguingly, a screen for chemokines identified the upregulation of epithelia-derived Cxcl17, a known monocyte attractant, in T + E2 prostates suggesting that it might be responsible for the elevated macrophage number as well as their translocation to the lumen. Our study identified macrophage subsets that responded to steroid hormone imbalance as well as further confirmed a potential pathological role of luminal foam cells in the prostate. These results underscore a potential pathological role of the identified prostate foam cells and suggests CXCL17-mediated macrophage migration as a critical initiating event.

Abstract Background This study was conducted to assess the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) among non-obese and obese Palestinians. The study also aimed to assess the effects of LUTS on the quality of life of obese and non-obese Palestinians. Methods This was a cross-sectional study that was conducted among normal-weight, overweight, and obese Palestinians using the King Health Questionnaire. The data collected from participants were entered and analyzed using SPSS (version 22). Results In this study, data were collected from 378 participants. The median age of the participants was 42.0 [30.0, 55.0] years, and the median body mass index was 27.1 [24.0, 30.8] kg/m2. Of the participants, 149 (39.4%) were overweight and 112 (29.6%) were obese. The prevalence of urinary hesitancy, incomplete emptying, urgency, nocturia, urgency, urge incontinence, stress incontinence, nocturnal enuresis, intercourse incontinence, bladder pain, number of urinations/24 h, and number of urinations/night was significantly higher among obese participants. Similarly, role limitations, physical/social limitation, personal relationships, emotions, and sleep/energy were affected significantly higher in obese compared to nonobese participants. Conclusion Higher prevalence of LUTS among obese patients compared to nonobese patients was observed among the Palestinians. Obese patients reported significantly higher deterioration of the quality of life as a result of LUTS compared to nonobese patients. Urologists, nutritionists, public health specialists, and other healthcare providers should consider measures to reduce LUTS among obese patients and improve their quality of life.

Abstract Background One-fourth of men older than 70 years have lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) that impair their quality of life. Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is considered the gold standard for surgical treatment of LUTS caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) that cannot be managed conservatively or pharmacologically. However, TURP is only an option for patients fit for surgery and can result in complications. Transurethral microwave thermotherapy (TUMT) and prostatic artery embolisation (PAE) are alternative minimally invasive surgical therapies (MISTs) performed in an outpatient setting. Both treatments have shown to reduce LUTS with a similar post-procedure outcome in mean International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS). It is however still unknown if TUMT and PAE perform equally well as they have never been directly compared in a randomised clinical trial. The objective of this clinical trial is to assess if PAE is non-inferior to TUMT in reducing LUTS secondary to BPH. Methods This study is designed as a multicentre, non-inferiority, open-label randomised clinical trial. Patients will be randomised with a 1:1 allocation ratio between treatments. The primary outcome is the IPSS of the two arms after 6 months. The primary outcome will be evaluated using a 95% confidence interval against the predefined non-inferiority margin of + 3 points in IPSS. Secondary objectives include the comparison of patient-reported and functional outcomes at short- and long-term follow-up. We will follow the patients for 5 years to track long-term effect. Assuming a difference in mean IPSS after treatment of 1 point with an SD of 5 and a non-inferiority margin set at the threshold for a clinically non-meaningful difference of + 3 points, the calculated sample size was 100 patients per arm. To compensate for 10% dropout, the study will include 223 patients. Discussion In this first randomised clinical trial to compare two MISTs, we expect non-inferiority of PAE to TUMT. The most prominent problems with MIST BPH treatments are the unknown long-term effect and the lack of proper selection of candidates for a specific procedure. With analysis of the secondary outcomes, we aspire to contribute to a better understanding of durability and provide knowledge to guide treatment decisions. Abstract Objectives To evaluate the effect of urethral catheterization on the accuracy of EMG uroflowmetry in children with non-neurogenic voiding disorders during pressure-flow (PF) studies compared to the non-invasive EMG uroflowmetry test. Methods A retrospective study of children undergoing a urodynamic evaluation at our institution between 8/2018 and 7/2022 was employed. Urination curves and pelvic floor muscle activity were compared between PF studies and non-invasive EMG uroflowmetry test. The non-invasive test was selected as the standard benchmark. Results 104 children were tested, with 34 children (33%) being able to urinate only in a non-invasive EMG uroflowmetry. Objective: The purpose of this analysis was to explore adolescent and adult womens preferences for the content and delivery of public health messaging around bladder health. Materials and Methods: This was a directed content analysis of focus group data from the Study of Habits, Attitudes, Realities, and Experiences, which explored adolescent and adult womens experiences, perceptions, beliefs, knowledge, and behaviors related to bladder health and function across the life course. This article reports an analysis of the Public Health Messaging code, which includes participants views on what information is needed about bladder health, attributes of messaging, and preferred locations and delivery methods. Results: Forty-four focus groups were conducted with 360 participants (ages 11-93 years) organized into six age groups. Across age groups, participants wanted messaging on maintaining bladder health and preventing bladder problems. They offered suggestions for a wide variety of methods to deliver bladder health information. Ideas for delivery methods fell into three broad categories: (1) traditional in-person modes of delivery, which included individual communication with providers in clinical settings and group-based methods in schools and other community settings where adolescent and adult women naturally gather; (2) internet-based website and social media delivery methods; and (3) static (noninteractive) modes of delivery such as pamphlets. Participants recommended the development of multiple delivery methods to be tailored for specific audiences. Conclusions: These findings can inform development of broad ranging public health messaging tailored to audiences of all ages with a goal of engaging adolescent and adult women across the bladder health risk spectrum.
