Objective. To compare the kinematic demands on international women field hockey players during official competition matches. Materials and methods. Sixteen women players (age: 24.7 ± 2.8; weight: 57.9 ± 5.9 kg; height: 165.2 ± 4.9 cm) belonging to the Spanish national team were monitored during 5 matches of the European Championship using global positioning systems (GPS). The analyses were carried out according to the players’ positions (defenders, midfielders and forwards), the quarters in the game (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4), and the number of minutes played. The data analysed included distances, accelerations and decelerations in different intensity ranges. Results. The defenders showed less high-intensity activity (speeds, accelerations and decelerations) than midfielders and forwards (9.4 ± 2.4%; ES: 0.78 with the midfielders and 33.1 ± 7.2%; ES: 2.1, with the defenders). The analysis by quarters showed that in Q4 activity was the highest for all positions. In terms of the number of minutes played, the cluster analysis grouped the players into 3 groups according to the number of minutes played (45 minutes). The athletes who played 21 km/h) and high-intensity distance (>15 km/h) per minute of play compared to the group who played >45 minutes. Conclusions. The results of this study show that the physical demands on élite women hockey players depend on their position on the field, and that there is more activity in the last quarter and less relative high-intensity kinematic activity among the players who play more minutes during the match.

International audience; The world has witnessed a redefinition in the development schemes, one where planetary limits exist, and where the mechanisms of action and participation must consider multilevel governance. Given this, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) combine four main ideas: 1) Do not leave anyone behind, that is, reinforce the goals and strategies that were in place since the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), 2) Define the bases , from a set of rights and services that must be guaranteed, 3) Take into consideration the limits imposed by nature, and the capacity of available technologies, and 4) Strengthen applied public capacities and rely on open institutions. Thus, several spaces have taken actions to strengthen the innovations undertaken by the public sector, such is the case of the United Nations Forum for the Public Sector. In particular, Goal 16 of the 2030 Agenda promotes the existence of peaceful societies for sustainable development, the provision of access to justice for all, and the construction of effective and responsible institutions.

Abstract Urinary incontinence suppose a hygienic and social problem; the WHO steems that 200 million people suffer from urinary incontinence. The first line management is medical treatment, however, when there is no improvement or when there is severe incontinence, gold standard is surgical treatment throught implantation of uretrhal slings. Nowadays, the available slings are the mini-slings and standard mid urethral slings that include retropubic and trasobturador techniques. For this reason, it had been done a review with the objective of providing information about cure rates, types of implantation techniques, complications and impact on the quality of life of urethral slings like treatment for uncomplicated stress urinary incontinence in women. While velocity-based training is currently a very popular paradigm to designing and monitoring resistance training programs, its implementation remains a challenge in team sports, where there are still some confusion and misinterpretations of its applications. In addition, in contexts with large squads, it is paramount to understand how to best use movement velocity in different exercises in a useful and time-efficient way. This manuscript aims to provide clarifications on the velocity-based training paradigm, movement velocity tracking technologies, assessment procedures and practical recommendations for its application during resistance training sessions, with the purpose of increasing performance, managing fatigue and preventing injuries. Guidelines to combine velocity metrics with subjective scales to prescribe training loads are presented, as well as methods to estimate 1-Repetition Maximum (1RM) on a daily basis using individual load–velocity profiles. Additionally, monitoring strategies to detect and evaluate changes in performance over time are discussed. Finally, limitations regarding the use of velocity of execution tracking devices and metrics such as “muscle power” are commented upon. Funding: This research received no external funding.

California vernal pool (VP) ecosystems support a diverse community of endemic plants that are threatened by multiple anthropogenic pressures, generating a need for molecular tools to quantify the extent and distribution of genetic variation in native populations. Here, we used RADseq to discover single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for a widespread VP endemic plant species, Lasthenia fremontii. We discovered nuclear-based SNPs using a RAD-tag library of 12 individuals from different VP complexes using SbfI, a restriction enzyme that does not cleave the chloroplast genome in Lasthenia. A total of 316,106 catalog loci were obtained across all twelve individuals in the library. Of these, 713 loci were polymorphic, yielding 3918 candidate SNPs. Next, we genotyped an additional 285 additional plants to validate and characterize 71 of the candidate SNPs. Of these, 44 were polymorphic among VP complexes. A preliminary analysis of the distribution of genetic variation using these loci revealed significant isolation-by-distance across the species’ geographic range. Weaker, but in some cases significant, genetic differentiation was detected among subpopulations from different pools within a single VP complex. Thus, in this study, RADseq allowed the discovery of SNP markers that can characterize patterns of genetic variation at multiple spatial scales in L. fremontii, which can be used to inform the conservation and mitigation of VP populations.

Optimizing collective behaviour helps to increase performance in mutual tasks. In team sports settings, the small-sided games (SSG) have been used as key context tools to stress out the players' awareness about their in-game required behaviours. Research has mostly described these behaviours when confronting teams have the same number of players, disregarding the frequent situations of low and high inequality. This study compared the players' positioning dynamics when manipulating the number of opponents and teammates during professional and amateur football SSG. The participants played 4v3, 4v5 and 4v7 games, where one team was confronted with low-superiority, low- and high-inferiority situations, and their opponents with low-, medium- and high-cooperation situations. Positional data were used to calculate effective playing space and distances from each player to team centroid, opponent team centroid and nearest opponent. Outcomes suggested that increasing the number of opponents in professional teams resulted in moderate/large decrease in approximate entropy (ApEn) values to both distance to team and opponent team centroid (i.e., the variables present higher regularity/predictability pattern). In low-cooperation game scenarios, the ApEn in amateurs' tactical variables presented a moderate/large increase. The professional teams presented an increase in the distance to nearest opponent with the increase of the cooperation level. Increasing the number of opponents was effective to overemphasise the need to use local information in the positioning decision-making process from professionals. Conversely, amateur still rely on external informational feedback. Increasing the cooperation promoted more regularity in spatial organisation in amateurs and emphasise their players' local perceptions.

This study aimed to compare the differences in game-to-game variability of technical and physical parameters of basketball players, according to game location and game outcome. Game data (n=712) were collated from the official box-score and player-tracking of the 2013-14 NBA regular season. The players were separated according to their court specific position. A two-step cluster analysis was performed to group players according to time played into 3 groups: short, medium, and long-time played. The coefficient of variation (CV) was calculated from game-to-game parameters. The results showed that short-time players demonstrated great CV for technical and physical statistics, long-time players displayed larger CV in losing and away games, technical indicators such free-throws revealed substantial variability in losing games and guards and centers presented high CV for some performance statistics. CV values were inversely proportional to time played, probably because playing less time decreases the probabilit...

The determination of soil physical properties requires complex analyzes performed by software, which are mostly paid access programs. The advantage of using R software is that it is open access and offers several packages for the analysis of soil physic-hydrical properties data. The objective of this review is to present and to disseminate the tools available in R for studies in soil physics. We briefly describe some packages of the R software for soil physics and analyze their ease of reproduction. From the examples given in the manuals of each package we observed that their reproducibility was not always self-explanatory, as verified for the packages soilwater and SoilHyP. The HydroMe and soilphysics packages were the most comprehensible to be reproduced. The most common determination offered by these packages is related to soil water retention curve models. We hope this will guide the soil science researchers to employ, more often, R codes to analyze their data. The R scripts that were used to exemplify the packages reported in this paper are available at https://github.com/sousaetal/COMPAG_2019_600 .

This study aimed to determine the intra- and inter-device accuracy and reliability of wearable athletic tracking devices, under controlled laboratory conditions. A total of nineteen portable accelerometers (Catapult OptimEye S5) were mounted to an aluminum bracket, bolted directly to an Unholtz Dickie 20K electrodynamic shaker table, and subjected to a series of oscillations in each of three orthogonal directions (front-back, side to side, and up-down), at four levels of peak acceleration (0.1g, 0.5g, 1.0g, and 3.0g), each repeated five times resulting in a total of 60 tests per unit, for a total of 1140 records. Data from each accelerometer was recorded at a sampling frequency of 100Hz. Peak accelerations recorded by the devices, Catapult PlayerLoad™, and calculated player load (using Catapult's Cartesian formula) were used for the analysis. The devices demonstrated excellent intradevice reliability and mixed interdevice reliability. Differences were found between devices for mean peak accelerations and PlayerLoad™ for each direction and level of acceleration. Interdevice effect sizes ranged from a mean of 0.54 (95% CI: 0.34-0.74) (small) to 1.20 (95% CI: 1.08-1.30) (large) and ICCs ranged from 0.77 (95% CI: 0.62-0.89) (very large) to 1.0 (95% CI: 0.99-1.0) (nearly perfect) depending upon the magnitude and direction of the applied motion. When compared to the player load determined using the Cartesian formula, the Catapult reported PlayerLoad™ was consistently lower by approximately 15%. These results emphasize the need for industry wide standards in reporting validity, reliability and the magnitude of measurement errors. It is recommended that device reliability and accuracy are periodically quantified.

Adsorption of the cationic surfactant dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride at the silica/water interface was studied using sum frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy under high ionic strength (100 mM NaCl) and at pH values ranging from 3 to 11, which are conditions relevant to hydraulic fracturing in enhanced oil recovery operations. At surfactant concentrations above the critical micelle concentration, SFG spectra of the CH stretching region indicate a more noncentrosymmetric structure for the surfactant aggregate is formed at the interface under acidic or basic conditions compared to neutral conditions. The SFG spectra also indicate a change in the packing/ordering of the surfactant hydrophobic tails with pH as well. In addition, the observed changes in the SFG spectra of water upon the addition of surfactant vary depending on the pH. At pH 7 and 11, the SFG intensity decreases in the OH stretching region, indicating a decrease in the magnitude of the electrostatic potential at the interface when the cati...

The biological effects of immersion in water, which are related to the fundamental principles of hydrodynamics, may be beneficial in certain training contexts. The effects and physical properties of water, such as density, hydrostatic pressure and buoyancy are highly useful resources for training, when used as a counterbalance to gravity, resistance, a compressor and a thermal conductor. Not only does the aquatic medium enable a wider range of activities to be used in a context of low joint impact, but it also constitutes a useful tool in relation to sports rehabilitation, since it allows the athlete to return to training earlier or to continue with high-intensity exercise while ensuring both low joint impact and greater comfort for the individual concerned. Moreover, this medium enables the stimulation of metabolic and neuromuscular systems, followed by their corresponding physiological adaptations allowing both to maintain and improve athletic performance. Hydrotherapy can also play a beneficial role in an athlete’s recovery, helping to prevent as well as treat muscle damage and soreness following exercise.

The process of soil erosion begins with the removal of native vegetation, which exposes the soil surface to the impact of raindrops, whose kinetic energy causes the destruction of its structure, releasing the different constituents of the texture to be carried by the wind and by the floods. In this sense, the disorderly growth of cities brings serious problems for the urban space, mainly related to subdivisions and waterproofing, which can trigger and / or intensify erosion processes. Thus, this research aimed to characterize, from a geological perspective, three ravines located in the neighborhoods of Colina da Praia (Rav 1), Ribeira de Baixo (Rav 2) and Praia (Rav 3), in the city of Itabira (MG), identifying the factors that favor its development. The analysis of the satellite images allowed to indicate the anthropic interference in these areas, evidenced by the removal of vegetation, opening of lots and streets. As for the geological characterization, it is possible to emphasize the presence of schist rock and granitic-gneiss rock, as well as similar orientations between the direction of ravines 1 and 3 with the fracture planes obtained. Considering the granulometric analysis of soil samples of the three ravines analyzed, it is verified the predominance of soil with medium texture, which commonly has a medium erodibility index. However, the anthropic interference characterized by the removal of the vegetation cover and the opening of road, together with the geological structuring, are factors that contribute, inseparably, to the development of the erosive processes analyzed. The importance of pedological surveys for proper land use planning is emphasized, which will minimize the negative impacts of natural environments. This study investigated age-related differences in maturity, physical and functional characteristics and playing performance in youth Australian Football (AF). Young male players (n = 156) were recruited from 12 teams across 6 age groups (U10-U15) of a recreational AF club. All players were tested for body size, maturity and fitness. Player performance was assessed during a match in which disposals (kicks and handballs) and their effectiveness were coded from a video recording and match running performance measured using Global Positioning System. Significant main effects (P 0.01) for age group were observed for age, years to peak height velocity, body mass, height, 20 m sprint, maximal speed over 20 m, vertical jump, 20 m multistage shuttle run, match distance, high-speed running distance, peak speed, number of effective disposals and percentage of effective disposals. Age-related differences in fitness characteristics (speed, lower body power and endurance) appeared to transfer to match running performance. The frequency in which players disposed of the football did not differ between age groups, however the effectiveness of each disposal (i.e., % effective disposals) improved with age. Match statistics, particularly those that evaluate skill execution outcome (i.e., effectiveness), are useful to assess performance and to track player development over time. Differences between age groups, and probably variability within age groups, are strongly associated with chronological age and maturity.

The aim of the study is to compare the heart rate (HR) and rate of perceived exertion (RPE) responses as internal load indicators while performing duet routines during training and competition, both in the technical and free programs of synchronized swimming (SS). Participants were 10 SS Olympic medalists (age, 17.4 ± 3.0 years; height, 164.0 ± 6.1 cm; body mass, 52.0 ± 6.4 kg; training, 36.3 ± 6.2 h·wk; experience, 9.2 ± 2.6 years). They were monitored while performing the same technical duet or free duet, during a training session (T) and during an official competition (C). Heart rate was continuously monitored. Rate of perceived exertion was assessed using the Borg CR10 scale. Heart rate responses during T and C were almost identical: pre-exercise mean HR (b·min) was 130.5 ± 13.9 (T) and 133.6 ± 7.7 (C) and quickly increased yielding mean peak values of 184.8 ± 5.8 (T) and 184.8 ± 6.6 (C), with interspersed bradycardic events down to 86.6 ± 4 (T) and 86.3 ± 5 (C). Routines were perceived as "hard" to "extremely hard" by the swimmers in both conditions, and mean RPE scores (0-10+) were equally high during C (7.9 ± 1.2) and T (7.5 ± 1.2) (p = 0.223). Rate of perceived exertion inversely correlated with minimum (R = -0.545; p = 0.008) and mean HR (R = -0.452; p = 0.026) and positively correlated with HRrange (R = 0.520; p = 0.011). The internal load imposed by SS duets performed during training is virtually identical to that elicited in a real competitive situation. Therefore, practicing competitive routines is suitable for developing and maintaining the cardiovascular fitness that is needed for specific conditioning in elite synchronized swimmers, with the added value of favoring exercise automaticity, interindividual coordination, and artistic expression simultaneously.

- Abstract
In neighborhoods and rural communities, precarious sanitation conditions are observed that unleash numerous negative consequences for the inhabitants residing in these localities, and the sanitary conditions are essential for the well-being, quality of life and health of population. The lack of environmental awareness of the residents in relation to the problems that surrounds them is also a concern. Thus, the aim of this study was to verify the basic sanitation services and the environmental awareness of the residents in Candidópolis community, located in rural area ofItabira / MG. For this, questionnaires were applied to 50 community residents. The results indicate that the artesian well in the community is the most widely used alternative for water supply. As for sanitation, it was noted that more than half of the sewage is dumped into waterways without any previous treatment. With respect to the solid wastes, these are collected only once a week and there is no selective waste collection in the community. It was verified few water drainage systems, but some of them are clogged or silted. In the aspect related to environmental awareness, a part of the residents is aware of the situation experienced is not the most appropriate and they believe that the implement of new technologies would bring benefits to the community in environmental, health and quality of life. In order to solve the problems related to sanitation, the involvement of municipal institutions is essential, through the use of adequate technologies for collection and treatment of sewage and waste, considering the characteristics of the region.

Habitat replacement and fragmentation associated with projected climate change pose a critical threat to global biodiversity. Edaphically limited plant species with restricted dispersal abilities will be especially handicapped to track their optimal climate spatially. Instead, the persistence of these species will depend on their capacity to adapt in situ to novel climate regimes. Here I evaluated the evolutionary potential of Lasthenia fremontii, an annual plant species restricted to ephemeral wetlands called vernal pools in California to adapt to the projected patterns of climate change. Across L. fremontii distribution there is a latitudinal gradient in precipitation which, combined with reduced gene flow rates, might be driving adaptive divergence in climate tolerances among populations of this species. Accordingly, I estimated (1) the spatial distribution of genetic variation and gene flow across the species range, (2) the extent to which the climate variability experienced by the vernal pools has selected for seed dormancy in L. fremontii populations, and (3) the degree of local adaptation and additive genetic variation in response to a simulated spectrum of precipitation conditions. My analyses revealed an isolation-by-distance model of genetic differentiation among vernal pools and a low to moderate degree of genetic differentiation among pools within a single complex. Germination time was faster in the northernmost (historically wettest) population than in the southernmost (historically driest) population but with mixed responses in others. I observed a significant positive relationship between the historical variability in autumn precipitation and extent of seed dormancy in a population. These findings were consistent with the patterns of adaptation to local rainfall conditions observed among three of the populations reciprocally exposed to local but extreme precipitation conditions. Unexpectedly, however, populations expressed higher levels of additive genetic variation but reduced fitness under extreme drought events in comparison with moderate and extreme rainfall conditions. Further, both peripheral populations expressed optimal fitness in their native conditions but the central population did not. Taken together, these results revealed that restricted gene flow, coupled with differences in the history of local selection pressures, have led to significant divergence in the climatic tolerances and relative evolutionary potential of populations. Contrary to intuitive expectations, central range populations with less predictable climate regimes may not preserve adaptive potential for more extreme environments. That potential may only be present at the current environmental extremes.

Aoki, MS, Ronda, LT, Marcelino, PR, Drago, G, Carling, C, Bradley, PS, and Moreira, A. Monitoring training loads in professional basketball players engaged in a periodized training program. J Strength Cond Res 31(2): 348-358, 2017-The aim of this study was to investigate the dynamics of external training load (eTL) and internal training load (iTL) during seasonal periods, and examine the effect of a periodized training program on physical performance in professional basketball players. Repeated measures for 9 players (28 ± 6 years; 199 ± 8 cm; 101 ± 12 kg) were collected from 45 training sessions, over a 6-week preseason phase and a 5-week in-season phase. Physical tests were conducted at baseline (T1), week 4 (T2), and week 9 (T3). Differences in means are presented as % ± confident limits. A very likely difference was observed during in-season compared with preseason for the eTL variables (measured by multivariable monitoring device), mechanical load (13.5 ± 8.8) and peak acceleration (11.0 ± 11.2), respectively. Regarding iTL responses, a very large decrement in TRIMP (most likely difference, -20.6 ± 3.8) and in session rating of perceived exertion training load (very likely difference, -14.2 ± 9.0) was detected from preseason to in-season. Physical performance improved from T1 to T3 for Yo-Yo intermittent recovery test 1 (62.2 ± 34.3, effect size [ES]1.2); countermovement jump (8.8 ± 6.1, ES0.6); and squat jump (14.8 ± 10.2, ES0.8). Heart rate (HR; %HRpeak) exercise responses during a submaximal running test decreased from T1 to T3 (3.2 ± 4.3, ES0.6), as well as the HR recovery after the test (14.7 ± 8.8, ES1.2). These results provide valuable information to coaches about training loads and physical performance across different seasonal periods. The data demonstrate that both eTL and iTL measures should be monitored in association with physical tests, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the training process.

Purpose:The aim of this study was to quantify and predict relationships between rating of perceived exertion (RPE) and GPS training-load (TL) variables in professional Australian football (AF) players using group and individualized modeling approaches. Methods:TL data (GPS and RPE) for 41 professional AF players were obtained over a period of 27 wk. A total of 2711 training observations were analyzed with a total of 66 ± 13 sessions/player (range 39–89). Separate generalized estimating equations (GEEs) and artificial-neural-network analyses (ANNs) were conducted to determine the ability to predict RPE from TL variables (ie, session distance, high-speed running [HSR], HSR %, m/min) on a group and individual basis. Results:Prediction error for the individualized ANN (root-mean-square error [RMSE] 1.24 ± 0.41) was lower than the group ANN (RMSE 1.42 ± 0.44), individualized GEE (RMSE 1.58 ± 0.41), and group GEE (RMSE 1.85 ± 0.49). Both the GEE and ANN models determined session distance as the most important predictor of RPE. Furthermore, importance plots generated from the ANN revealed session distance as most predictive of RPE in 36 of the 41 players, whereas HSR was predictive of RPE in just 3 players and m/min was predictive of RPE in just 2 players. Conclusions:This study demonstrates that machine learning approaches may outperform more traditional methodologies with respect to predicting athlete responses to TL. These approaches enable further individualization of load monitoring, leading to more accurate training prescription and evaluation.

This paper aims to analyze the translation into English of the novel Avalovara, by Osman Lins, signed by the well-known translator Gregory Rabassa. An enigmatic novel, mathematically masterminded by the Brazilian author, Avalovara presents a wide range of interpretations and possibilities in terms of reading. In view of this, this paper presents an analysis of selected passages, taking for elucidative support the correspondence exchanged between Lins and Rabassa, contained in the author’s archive. The analysis will also focus on the morphological aspects, paratexts, supplementary texts, among other editorial aspects from the three published editions, in order to observe its reception in the target culture. Therefore, we will make use of the concepts proposed by Antoine Berman (1995) and Marie-Hélène Torres (2011), related to translation criticism and morphological analysis, respectively. In another perspective, given the inherent dualities of Translation, we propose, parallel to the scientific text, a reflective view, reminiscing the very “osmanian” style: “travel and travelogue”.

Background and aims Many locally endemic species in biodiversity hotspots are restricted to edaphic conditions that are fixed in the landscape, limiting their potential to track climate change through dispersal. Instead, such species experience strong selection for germination strategies that can track suitable conditions through time. Germination strategies were compared among populations across the geographic range of a California vernal pool annual, Lasthenia fremontii Local germination strategies were tested to determine the associations with geographic variation in precipitation patterns. Methods This study evaluated patterns of seed germination, dormancy and mortality in response to simulated variation in the timing, amount and duration of the first autumn precipitation event using seeds from six populations that span a geographic gradient in precipitation. Next, it was tested whether the germination strategies of different populations can be predicted by historical precipitation patterns that characterize each site. Key results A significant positive relationship was observed between the historical variability in autumn precipitation and the extent of dormancy in a population. Marginal populations, with histories of the most extreme but constant autumn precipitation levels, expressed the lowest dormancy levels. Populations from sites with historically higher levels of autumn precipitation tended to germinate faster, but this tendency was not statistically significant. Conclusions Germination in L. fremontii is cued by the onset of the first rains that characterize the beginning of winter in California's Great Central Valley. However, populations differ in how fast they germinate and the fraction of seeds that remain dormant when germination cues occur. The results suggest that seed dormancy may be a key trait for populations to track increasingly drier climates predicted by climate change models. However, the low dormancy and high mortality levels observed among seeds of the southernmost, driest populations make them most vulnerable to local extinction.

The effects that different constraints have on the exploratory behavior, measured by the variety and quantity of different responses within a game situation, is of the utmost importance for successful performance in team sports. The aim of this study was to determine how the number of teammates and opponents affects the exploratory behavior of both professional and amateur players in small-sided soccer games. Twenty-two professional (age 25.6 ± 4.9 years) and 22 amateur (age 23.1 ± 0.7 years) male soccer players played three small-sided game formats (4 vs. 3, 4 vs. 5, and 4 vs. 7). These trials were video-recorded and a systematic observation instrument was used to notate the actions, which were subsequently analyzed by means of a principal component analysis and the dynamic overlap order parameter (measure to identify the rate and breadth of exploratory behavior on different time scales). Results revealed that a higher the number of opponents required for more frequent ball controls. Moreover, with a higher number of teammates, there were more defensive actions focused on protecting the goal, with more players balancing. In relation to attack, an increase in the number of opponents produced a decrease in passing, driving and controlling actions, while an increase in the number of teammates led to more time being spent in attacking situations. A numerical advantage led to less exploratory behavior, an effect that was especially clear when playing within a team of seven players against four opponents. All teams showed strong effects of the number of teammates on the exploratory behavior when comparing 5 vs 7 or 3 vs 7 teammates. These results seem to be independent of the players' level. We would like to thank the players who volunteered to participate in this study. The aim of this study was to identify the dynamics of tactical behaviour emerging on different timescales in football small-sided games and to quantify short- and long-term exploratory behaviour according to the number of opponents. Two teams of four professional male footballers played small-sided games against two different teams with a variable number of opponents (3, 5 and 7). Data were collected using a combination of systematic observation and a non-differential global positioning system (15 Hz). The temporal diversity and structural flexibility of the players were determined by calculating the dynamic overlap order parameter q, entropy and trapping strength. Analysis of the exploratory dynamics revealed two different timescales, forming a different metastable landscape of action for each constraint. Fast dynamics lasted on average a few seconds and consisted of changes in tactical patterns. The long timescale corresponded to the shared tasks of offence and defence lasting tens of seconds. The players' tactical diversity decreased with an increasing number of opponents, especially in defence. Manipulating numerical imbalance is likely to promote changes in the diversity, unpredictability and flexibility of tactical solutions. The fact that the temporally nested structure of constraints shaped the emergence of tactical behaviour provides a new rationale for practice task design. The manipulation of numerical imbalance on the timescale of a few tens of seconds, on which the exploratory behaviour of players saturates, may help coaches to optimise the exploratory efficiency of the small-sided games.

In Argentina, oregano (Origanum spp.) is one of the most important aromatic species. Leaves and flowering tops are used as seasoning, targeting the retail consumer, industrial and less to export. Local production has low-average yields due to the variability of cultivated material, the vegetative propagation methods used, and the lack of knowledge and adaptive experimentation on advanced cultivation practices. Clones of oregano grown in the country were collected in order to characterize the germplasm used in Argentina. Twelve oregano clones, sanitized by meristems culture and micropropagated in vitro, were field evaluated in three different growing locations. Regardless of growing site, the quantitative variables with more discriminating value were essential oils yield, internode length, length of the longest branch, fresh weight, dry weight of leaf and stem, leaf/stem ratio, and leaf area. Based on the quantitative traits, oregano clones can be classified into four groups. From the observations based on botanical characteristics, it was determined that the evaluated clones belong to three different taxa: Origanum vulgare ssp. vulgare, Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum, and Origanum x majoricum (hybrid). Within each group, the clones belong to the same taxon.

Background: Multiple symmetric lipomatosis (MSL) is a relatively uncommon entity of unknown etiology characterized by symmetrically subcutaneous accumulation of nonencapsulated adipose tissue. Approximately 200 to 300 cases have been published. Objectives: The aims of this article are to report the case of a 58-year-old Brazilian patient with MSL and provide a comprehensive overview of the current concepts concerning this disease. Methods: Our search yielded 28 articles on MSL, including case reports and reviews of the literature. Results: MSL predominantly affects Mediterranean males with a history of chronic alcohol abuse. It is usually asymptomatic and may be associated with diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, hyperuricemia, macrocytic anemia, and oral cancer. Surgical resection is the best treatment option. Conclusion: The case reported is a classic presentation of MSL; however, it is particularly uncommon owing to the association with immune thrombocytopenic purpura. This association has been described only once in the medical literature.
