Abstract

A LED collimator with double freeform surfaces was designed for uniform illumination in both near field and far field. The collimator includes refractive part and reflective part, and each part has double freeform surfaces. Based on Malus Law, the constant optical path length equations that realize the rays collimating were derived. Then associating with tangent-plane iterative method, the date both up freeform surface and down freeform surface simultaneously could be calculated. The simulations show that, 84.55% of the energy is collected in 2 for 1 mm1 mm size white LED after considering the Fresnel loss, reflective surfaces loss and material absorbing. The uniformity in near field is 94.59%, and the uniformity in far field is 89.01%. The uniformity in near field and the optical efficiency in 4 are above 90% and 83.5% respectively, while the LED chip sizes are under 2 mm2 mm. It is illustrated that the LED collimator can realize uniform illumination in both near field and far field with high light efficiency and the tolerance meet the requirements of alignment.

Abstract

In this paper, the recoil loops of SmCo6.6Nb0.4 nanoflakes prepared by the surfactant-assisted high energy ball milling (SA-HEBM) were systematically studied. The recoil loop openness was observed in both the aligned and non-aligned samples. Reversible and irreversible portions of the demagnetization process derived from the recoil loop were also investigated. For both the aligned and non-aligned samples, reversible portion (Δmrev) is too small to determine the coercivity. Irreversible portion (Δmirrev) shows similar tendency, i.e. increasing slowly at low reverse field and then growing up rapidly after a critical field (nucleation field Hno). The demagnetization process can be described as following: the reversible demagnetization is dominant when the applied reverse field is lower than 8 kOe, under which the irreversible nucleation also occurs. The reverse domain walls are pinned by the grain boundaries until the reverse field is larger than 8 kOe. With increasing field, the pinning effects are weakened and the rapid reversible demagnetization starts. Finally, the demagnetization process is accomplished. The values of AM in the Henkel plots are totally opposite for the aligned and non-aligned SmCo6.6Nb0.4 nanoflakes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Magnesium matrix nanocomposite (1 vol.% nano-SiCp/AZ31) sheets were successfully fabricated by hot rolling at 350 °C with per pass reduction of 15% and total reduction up to 84%. Microstructure and texture evolution of the nanocomposites during hot rolling were investigated. Twinning and associated dynamic recrystallization (TDRX) were the dominant features at the initial stage of hot rolling. With the increase of rolling passes, grains were refined gradually due to dynamic recrystallization (DRX) and distribution of nanoparticles was also well modified. Meanwhile, shear bands became denser and longer with proceeding of hot rolling. Basal texture splitting along transverse direction was observed during hot rolling and intensity of the basal texture first increased and then showed a sharp decrease, while the uniformity kept increasing. Mechanical properties of the nanocomposite sheets were substantially enhanced. Compared with that of the as-cast nanocomposite, yield strength of the 11 passes hot-rolled sheet was more than doubled. Mechanical properties of the nanocomposite sheets showed a distinct anisotropy along rolling direction and transverse direction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

124. Microstructure and microhardness studies of nickel-based diamond composite coatings by electrodepositing in supercritical CO2.

Abstract

Nickel-based diamond composites were produced by electrodepositing in supercritical fluids CO2, and the samples were investigated using scanning electron microscope and digital microscope hardness tester. The results show that the surface of the coatings is smooth with diamond particles dispersed uniformly, and its average microhardness increases 80% than that of ordinary electrodepositing coatings. The influences of current density and diamond addition to the microhardness of composites were discussed as well as working pressure. The results show that the microhardness of composite coatings increases at first and then decreases with the increase of current density and diamond addition. Its maximum can reach 910 HV when the current density is 9 A dm−2. Working pressure variations from 10 to 14 MPa have no significant effect on the microhardness of coatings, which is more or less 900 HV.
