Abstract

The Tujia hand-waving dance is an important intangible cultural heritage that is in danger of being lost, and its protection is urgent. In this article, the dance movement learning method, game-based learning concept, and evaluation are integrated in the Personal Active Choreographer (PAC) system for hand-waving dance learning. In this research, the Microsoft Kinect 2.0 was used as a game-based device to recognize and capture the movement of the user. This study was aimed at using the PAC system to improve the learning performance of the hand-waving dance, which is intended to popularize and protect it. Based on a quasi-experiment involving 60 students (average age 21.03 years), the results showed that the participants who used the PAC approach demonstrated significantly better performance and higher learning satisfaction than those who used the traditional video-instructed approach.

Abstract

Teachers' use of gestures with multiple representations are common non-verbal behaviors in classroom teaching. Teachers' gestures as a subject of research has attracted more and more interest in recent years. Categories of gestures need to be developed to facilitate the analysis of teachers' gestures in classroom teaching. This study developed categories of teachers' gestures in classroom teaching from the perspective of multiple representations. Based on the developed categories, the study examined the gestures of six teachers (three novice teachers and three expert teachers) through video analysis. The findings indicate that the embedding of multiple representation theory makes the function classification of gestures more specific and meaningful. The application findings also indicate that this new approach is capable of distinguishing different gesture characteristics between different teachers in relation to the teaching experience. Moreover, the findings clearly indicate the applicability, reliability, and validity of the categories of teachers' gestures developed. Abstract

Exploratory experiments are fundamental to physics courses. Virtualization technologies like XR can enhance students' learning effectiveness with a suitable experimental instructional design. At present, the research on the theory and strategy of designing virtual experiment is relatively rare, especially in physics discipline. This paper concludes the design principles of exploratory virtual experiment. Physics experiment in the K-12 textbooks titled “polarization of light” has been chosen for its mapping into virtual domain. Finally, a preliminary assessment and result will be presented.

Abstract

Educational game is a certain computer games that can develop the user's knowledge, skills, intelligence, emotion, attitude, values. Kinect can listen to the voice of the people and observe people's action through the skeleton tracking technology and speech recognition technology which make it easier to communicate with computer. By analyzing the the key technology of the existing education games, we can find that the application on Kinect is rarely. This paper makes full use of the advantages of Kinect and the characteristics of the education game to design a serious game model based on Kinect. The working principle of Kinect and the definition of serious game is introduced. A case according to the educational game model based on Kinect is implemented at last.
