104. An analogue of the Erd\H{o}s-Gallai theorem for random graphs

Abstract

Recently, variants of many classical extremal theorems have been proved in the random environment. We, complementing existing results, extend the Erd\H{o}s-Gallai Theorem in random graphs. In particular, we determine, up to a constant factor, the maximum number of edges in a $P_n$-free subgraph of $G(N,p)$, practically for all values of $N,n$ and $p$. Our work is also motivated by the recent progress on the size-Ramsey number of paths.

127. The typical structure of Gallai colorings and their extremal graphs

Abstract

An edge coloring of a graph $G$ is a Gallai coloring if it contains no rainbow triangle. We show that the number of Gallai $r$-colorings of $K_n$ is $\left(\binom{r}{2}+o(1)\right)2^{\binom{n}{2}}$. This result indicates that almost all Gallai $r$-colorings of $K_n$ use only 2 colors. We also study the extremal behavior of Gallai $r$-colorings among all $n$-vertex graphs. We prove that the complete graph $K_n$ admits the largest number of Gallai $3$-colorings among all $n$-vertex graphs when $n$ is sufficiently large, while for $r\geq 4$, it is the complete bipartite graph $K_{\lfloor n/2 \rfloor, \lceil n/2 \rceil}$. Our main approach is based on the hypergraph container method, developed independently by Balogh, Morris, and Samotij as well as by Saxton and Thomason, together with some stability results for containers., Comment: 28 pages

Abstract

Fe3O4@astragalus polysaccharide core-shell nanoparticles (Fe3O4@APS NPs) were demonstrated to be an efficient therapeutic drug for treating iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in vivo. The Fe3O4@APS NPs have been synthesized using a two steps approach involving hydrothermal synthesis and subsequent esterification. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy studies show that APS are attached on the surfaces of the highly monodisperse Fe3O4 NPs. Dynamic light scatting (DLS) and magnetic characterizations reveal that the Fe3O4@APS NPs have outstanding water solubility and stability. Cytotoxicity assessment using Hela cells and pathological tests in mice demonstrate their good biocompatibility and low toxicity. The IDA treatment in rats shows that they have efficient therapeutic effect, which is contributed to both the iron element supplement from Fe3O4 and the APS-stimulated hematopoietic cell generation. Moreover, the Fe3O4@APS NPs are superparamagnetic and thus able to be used for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This study has demonstrated the potential of nanocomposites involving purified natural products from Chinese herb medicine for biomedical applications.

Abstract

Both Cuckler and Yuster independently conjectured that when $n$ is an odd positive multiple of $3$ every regular tournament on $n$ vertices contains a collection of $n/3$ vertex-disjoint copies of the cyclic triangle. Soon after, Keevash and Sudakov proved that if $G$ is an orientation of a graph on $n$ vertices in which every vertex has both indegree and outdegree at least $(1/2 - o(1))n$, then there exists a collection of vertex-disjoint cyclic triangles that covers all but at most $3$ vertices. 130. On the number of generalized Sidon sets

Abstract

A set $A$ of nonnegative integers is called a Sidon set if there is no Sidon 4-tuple, i.e., $(a,b,c,d)$ in $A$ with $a+b=c+d$ and $\{a, b\}\cap \{c, d\}=\emptyset$. Cameron and Erd\H os proposed the problem of determining the number of Sidon sets in $[n]$. Results of Kohayakawa, Lee, R\" odl and Samotij, and Saxton and Thomason has established that the number of Sidon sets is between $2^{(1.16+o(1))\sqrt{n}}$ and $2^{(6.442+o(1))\sqrt{n}}$. An $\alpha$-generalized Sidon set in $[n]$ is a set with at most $\alpha$ Sidon 4-tuples. One way to extend the problem of Cameron and Erd\H os is to estimate the number of $\alpha$-generalized Sidon sets in $[n]$. We show that the number of $(n/\log^4 n)$-generalized Sidon sets in $[n]$ with additional restrictions is $2^{\Theta(\sqrt{n})}$. Abstract

Perceiving organizational support is a crucial factor in enhancing teacher job satisfaction and contributes to improving teacher job performance. Previous research has predominantly focused on the impact of job satisfaction on job performance, overlooking the interactions among factors shaping perceived organizational support. This study aims to examine the interrelationships among personality traits, perceived organizational support, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction in influencing teacher job performance. A total of 581 university teachers participated in an empirical study, and the results confirmed that perceived organizational support influences teacher job performance directly and indirectly through personality traits, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction. This study develops and validates a novel model illustrating how perceived organizational support indirectly influences teachers'job performance through personality traits, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction. By emphasizing the mediating roles of personality traits, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction, this study makes a significant contribution to the theoretical literature. Moreover, it provides valuable theoretical insights and practical guidance for universities to formulate support strategies tailored to teachers' personality traits, thereby enhancing their job performance. Abstract

An $r$-uniform \textit{linear cycle} of length $\ell$, denoted by $C_{\ell}^r$, is an $r$-graph with edges $e_1, \ldots, e_{\ell}$ such that for every $i\in [\ell-1]$, $|e_i\cap e_{i+1}|=1$, $|e_{\ell}\cap e_1|=1$ and $e_i\cap e_j=\emptyset$ for all other pairs $\{i, j\},\ i\neq j$. For every $r\geq 3$ and $\ell\geq 4$, we show that there exists a constant $C$ depending on $r$ and $\ell$ such that the number of linear $r$-graphs of girth $\ell$ is at most $2^{Cn^{1+1/\lfloor \ell/2\rfloor}}$. Furthermore, we extend the result for $\ell=4$, proving that there exists a constant $C$ depending on $r$ such that the number of linear $r$-graphs without $C_{4}^r$ is at most $2^{Cn^{3/2}}$. The idea of the proof is to reduce the hypergraph enumeration problems to some graph enumeration problems, and then apply a variant of the graph container method, which may be of independent interest. We extend a breakthrough result of Kleitman and Winston on the number of $C_4$-free graphs, proving that the number of graphs containing at most $n^2/32\log^6 n$ $C_4$'s is at most $2^{11n^{3/2}}$, for sufficiently large $n$. We further show that for every $r\geq 3$ and $\ell\geq 2$, the number of graphs such that each of its edges is contained in only $O(1)$ cycles of length at most $2\ell$, is bounded by $2^{3(\ell+1)n^{1+1/\ell}}$ asymptotically., Comment: 27 pages

Abstract

Purpose: (1) To investigate the relationship between college students' parent–child attachment, external expression of anger, and bullying behavior; (2) To explore the mediating role of external expression of anger between parent–child attachment and bullying behavior. Methods: The Parent–Child Attachment Scale, State–Trait Anger Expression Inventory, and Bullying Participation Behavior Questionnaire were administered to 306 college students. Data collected were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 for common method bias tests, descriptive analysis, and correlation analysis. The mediation model was tested using the PROCESS macro program. Results: Parent–child attachment was significantly negatively correlated with external expression of anger and bullying behavior, while external expression of anger was positively correlated with bullying behavior. Additionally, the external expression of anger partially mediated the impact of parent–child attachment on bullying behavior. Conclusion: This study clarifies the relationship between parent–child attachment, external expression of anger, and bullying, emphasizing the indirect effect of parent–child attachment on individual bullying behavior through the external expression of anger. Abstract

Developing a new route to produce aromatic amines as key chemicals from renewable phenols is a benign alternative to current fossil‐based routes like nitroaromatic hydrogenation, but is challenging because of the high dissociation energy of the Ar−OH bond and difficulty in controlling side reactions. Herein, an aerosolizing‐pyrolysis strategy was developed to prepare high‐density single‐site cationic Pd species immobilized on CeO2 (Pd1/CeO2) with excellent sintering resistance. The obtained Pd1/CeO2 catalysts achieved remarkable selectivity of important aromatic amines (yield up to 76.2 %) in the phenols amination with amines without external hydrogen sources, while Pd nano‐catalysts mainly afforded phenyl‐ring‐saturation products. The excellent catalytic properties of the Pd1/CeO2 are closely related to high‐loading Pd single‐site catalysts with abundant surface defect sites and suitable acid‐base properties. Abstract

The study investigated the impact of negative life events on college students' problematic online gaming use, as well as the mediating role of basic psychological needs and anxiety, and the moderating effect of boredom proneness. A total of 1,102 college students were surveyed by using the Adolescent Negative Life Events Scale, Basic Psychological Needs Scale, GAD-7, DSM-5, and Boredom Proneness Scale. From the sample, 881 participants with experience in online gaming were selected for the study. The results showed that: (1) Controlling for gender and grade, negative life events significantly and positively predicted problematic online gaming use. (2) Basic psychological needs and anxiety played a mediating role in the relationship between negative life events and problematic online gaming use. (3) Boredom proneness significantly moderated the first half of the model. Basic psychological needs and anxiety mediate the relationship between negative life events and college students' problematic online gaming use. Moreover, under conditions of low boredom proneness, the independent mediating effect of basic psychological needs and the mediating effect of basic psychological needs and anxiety are enhanced, while the independent mediating effect of anxiety is weakened. Abstract

2D hybrid perovskites, with their high X‐ray absorption and extended carrier transport, present excellent promise for efficient direct X‐ray detection. However, most of the current devices require external bias voltage, which results in the need for significant energy consumption and severe ion migration, therefore, it is urgent to develop new types of materials for achieving efficient passive X‐ray detection. Herein, two novel chiral polar alternating cations intercalation (ACI)‐type hybrid perovskite materials, named (R/S‐PPA)(IEA)PbBr4 (1‐R/S, (R/S)‐PPA = R/S‐1‐phenylpropylamine; IEA = iodoethylamine), are constructed by integrating the chiral aromatic spacer R/S‐PPA and the iodine‐substituted spacer IEA. Various intermolecular interactions, such as I···I, C─H···I, π···π interactions, are introduced due to the introduction of I‐substituted chain amines, which effectively suppresses ion migration and thus lead to improved operational stability. The device constructed along the polar axis displays superior X‐ray detection performance, such as relatively high sensitivity and an ultra‐low limit of detection (LoD) of 3.0 nGy s−1, making it the first chiral ACI‐type perovskite material for realizing efficient passive X‐ray detection. Furthermore, 1‐R also presents low dark current drift and exceptional irradiation stability.
