Western China is an important area for increasing oil and gas reserves and production in China, and it is also the most arid and water-deficient area in the country; there is a complex linkage between energy and water resources in this region. Hence, it is important to promote the coordinated management of energy and water resources. In this article, we review the prospects and deployment of oil and gas production in Western China, investigate the development mode and water utilization status of different oil and gas fields from seven companies of China National Petroleum Corporation in Western China, and analyze the guarantee risks of water resource and water environment during gas and oil development. The research shows that oil and gas production has steadily increased in Western China in recent years, and the consumption of fresh water in oil and gas fields has changed little, owing to the continuous improvement in sewage treatment and recycling efficiency. However, considering the progressive development of unconventional oil and gas resources, future oil and gas development in Western China is likely to significantly affect the surface and underground water systems. It is suggested to develop precise water injection and waterless fracturing technology to stabilize oil production and control water use, increase the recycling of produced water to strengthen scientific water management, and improve the comprehensive allocation guarantee system of water resources, so as to reduce the impact of oil and gas development on water system while ensuring water use security for energy industry, thereby realizing the coordinated development of energy and water resources in Western China.

In recent decades, immunotherapy has undergone extensive developments for oncologic therapy applications. Dendritic cells (DCs) plays a fundamental role in cell-based vaccination immunotherapy against various types of cancer. It involves stimulating innate and adaptive immunity, in particular cytotoxic T-cell mediated antitumor effects, against targeted tumors and has been studied in both preclinical and clinical settings. Nevertheless, clinical outcomes have been unsatisfying. The antitumor response requires sufficient migration of viable DCs from primary administration site to targeted tumors through related lymphatics. The dynamics and mechanisms of the DCs migration still need further investigation. Here, we briefly introduce the current clinically applicable methods for manufacturing DC-based cancer vaccines and their most commonly used non-invasive, real-time tracking approaches. Furthermore, we propose a hypothesis that intraperitoneal injection may improve the efficiency of DC-based cancer vaccine.

Featured Application: The findings of this study can serve as a valuable reference for the cross-regional integration and optimal utilization of energy resources. Simultaneously, they also contribute to enhancing the accuracy of global solar radiation forecasting by integrating meteorological data and air quality conditions. The majority of the energy required for human survival is derived either directly or indirectly from solar radiation, thus it is important to investigate the periodic fluctuations in global solar radiation over time. In this study, six cities—Harbin, Shenyang, Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, and Guangzhou—located in the utilizable areas of solar energy in China, were selected, and the periodicity of the daily global solar radiation of these six cities with time were investigated by means of wavelet power spectrum analysis. Furthermore, Harbin, which has the lowest monthly average of global solar radiation in the cold of winter, was selected to explore the temporal evolution relationship between global solar radiation and other meteorological factors, and air quality factors by wavelet coherence analysis. Among the meteorological factors, the correlation between global solar radiation and sunshine duration exhibits the highest level of consistency. Global solar radiation demonstrates a positive association with atmospheric temperature/wind speed/precipitation over the annual cycle. Conversely, it displays a negative correlation with atmospheric pressure during this time frame. Additionally, on shorter timescales, global solar radiation is negatively correlated with air humidity and precipitation. Among air quality factors, the relationship between global solar radiation and CO/NO2/O3/PM2.5/PM10/SO2 primarily manifests in the broader annual cycle time scale. Within this context, global solar radiation shows a positive correlation with O3, while displaying negative associations with the other five air quality indicators. These findings contribute to urban environmental planning and the effective management and utilization of solar radiation, thereby providing valuable insights to guide the future development of cross-regional comprehensive energy utilization projects under diverse climatic and geographical conditions.
