Abstract

26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 1270-1273, More optimization of cell fabrication processing by laser doping (LD) technique is indispensable. LD to be optimized for high efficiency silicon solar cell would be depended strongly on the optical properties of phosphosilicate glass (PSG) film. In this study, to clarify the optical properties of PSG film, the reflectances of differential PSG thickness were investigated by calculated and experimental results at two type laser; Nd3+:YAG pulsed-laser with 355 nm wavelength and Nd: YVO4 CW laser with 532 nm wavelength. In addition, we investigated the irradiated surface conditions after two type laser and influence of doping profiles on different PSG films. Our results demonstrated that the reflectance of PSG precursor layer influenced to conversion efficiency of solar cells using LD technique.

Abstract

A case of subclinical Sjögren's syndrome was diagnosed when the patient delivered a baby with SSA antibody-positive congenital heart block (CHB). The mother had been asymptomatic throughout her life. The laboratory findings including sialography, lip biopsy, Schirmer's test and a Rose-Bengal test showed Sjögren's syndrome. Such an asymptomatic case is termed subclinical Sjögren's syndrome. Thus, it was important to investigate an asymptomatic mother who delivers a SSA antibody-positive CHB baby.

117. Intrinsic Luminescence from Self-Trapped Excitons in Bi4Ge3O12 and Bi12GeO20: Decay Kinetics and Multiplication of Electronic Excitations

Abstract

The intrinsic luminescence appearing at 500 nm in Bi4Ge3O12 (e-BGO) and that at 450 nm in Bi12GeO20 (s-BGO) have been studied over a wide range of temperature T = 5–300 K by using a Nd:YAG laser and synchrotron radiation as excitation light sources. Luminescence decay curves in e-BGO depend dramatically on the laser power; they are composed of three decay components under high-density excitation, while they show a single exponential decay at low-density excitation. From temperature dependences of the decay time and emission intensity, it is clarified that the triplet state of a self-trapped exciton (STE) responsible for the e-BGO luminescence consists of a pair of closely spaced sublevels with separation energy of 5.7 meV. The decay curves of s-BGO luminescence are essentially nonexponential, irrespective of the excitation power. Time-resolved luminescence measurements of s-BGO suggest the existence of a singlet state lying higher than the triplet STE state. The excitation spectra for the intrinsic luminescence bands have been measured up to 35 eV (35 nm) at 5 K. From the obtained spectra, it is obvious that the multiplication of electronic excitations takes place efficiently in both BGOs. The production processes of multiple excitons are discussed by referring to a recent study on the electronic structures. ©2010 The Physical Society of Japan

Abstract

It has been shown that Emdogain Gel (Emd-Gel) containing enamel matrix proteins promotes biomineralization, such as osteogenesis and cementogenesis, during the regeneration of periodontal tissues. However, the growth factors involved in these activities of Emd-Gel remain unclear. In this study, Emd-Gel was fractionated into 22 sub-fractions by size exclusion chromatography. The osteoinductive factors, TGF-beta and BMP, were examined by a specific luciferase reporter gene assay. In the unfractionated Emd-Gel, TGF-beta-like activity was detected, while BMP activity was not. In contrast, in the fractionated Emd-Gel samples, TGF-beta-like activity was detected from fractions 8 to 13, and BMP-like activity was detected from fractions 4 to 6. Also, it was confirmed that the BMP-like activity in Emd-Gel was inhibited by authentic TGF-beta1 and TGF-beta-like activity. These results indicate that Emd-Gel contains both TGF-beta- and BMP-like growth factors that contribute to the induction of biomineralization during periodontal regeneration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A 77-year-old woman had an acute onset of chorea after hyperglycemic coma. She had no family history of neurologic disorders. Although brain CT showed no detectable lesions in the putamen, MR revealed a high intensity on T1-weighted images and a low intensity on T2-weighted images in both putamina.
