Alongside sustainable development as a major global aim, the contribution made by globalization to environmental issues has become crucial in recent decades. Prior studies have focused on how trade in globalization influences the environment. However, multiple economic, social, and political factors are also important, the integration of which needs to be considered in sustainable development. Sharp and smooth breaks in time series models are the consequence of real-world structures. Using the bootstrap autoregressive-distributed lag test with a Fourier function, the present study reexamined the nexus between globalization and the environment in China, the United States, and India. The empirical results indicate that in the United States, the nexus between globalization and the environment is cointegrated in the long-term. In the short term, globalization is improving the environment in the United States and India. However, in China, globalization is resulting in environmental degradation. This research will assist policymakers in developing comprehensive strategies for sustainable development.

This study developed and implemented a driving power supply for light-emitting diode (LED) array streetlamps. The power stage was a quasi-resonant (QR)-flyback converter, its input power was the alternating-current power, and the LED array streetlamp was driven by the direct-current output power. The developed QR-flyback converter was operated in discontinuous conduction mode, and the pulse-width modulation (PWM) control chip was used to switch and conduct at the resonant valley of the drain-source voltage on the metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) switch to reduce the switching loss. Moreover, the PWM control chip had a disable function, which was connected with a bright and extinguishable control circuit, and the high/low voltage level signal output by the Arduino development board can be used to control the output power of the QR-flyback converter, achieving bright and extinguishable controls for the LED array streetlamp.

Hemichannels (HCs)/gap junctions (GJs) and immunoglobulin (Ig)-like domain-containing proteins (IGLDCPs) are involved in the innate–adaptive immune response independently. Despite of available evidence demonstrating the importance of HCs/GJs and IGLDCPs in initiating, implementing, and terminating the entire immune response, our understanding of their mutual interactions in immunological function remains rudimentary. IGLDCPs include immune checkpoint molecules of the immunoglobulin family expressed in T and B lymphocytes, most of which are cluster of differentiation (CD) antigens. They also constitute the principal components of the immunological synapse (IS), which is formed on the cell surface, including the phagocytic synapse, T cell synapse, B cell synapse, and astrocytes–neuronal synapse. During the three stages of the immune response, namely innate immunity, innate–adaptive immunity, and adaptive immunity, HCs/GJs and IGLDCPs are cross-activated during the entire process. The present review summarizes the current understanding of HC-released immune signaling factors that influence IGLDCPs in regulating innate–adaptive immunity. ATP-induced “eat me” signals released by HCs, as well as CD31, CD47, and CD46 “don’t eat me” signaling molecules, trigger initiation of innate immunity, which serves to regulate phagocytosis. Additionally, HC-mediated trogocytosis promotes antigen presentation and amplification. Importantly, HC-mediated CD4+ T lymphocyte activation is critical in the transition of the innate immune response to adaptive immunity. HCs also mediate non-specific transcytosis of antibodies produced by mature B lymphocytes, for instance, IgA transcytosis in ovarian cancer cells, which triggers innate immunity. Further understanding of the interplay between HCs/GJs and IGLDCPs would aid in identifying therapeutic targets that regulate the HC–Ig-like domain immune response, thereby providing a viable treatment strategy for immunological diseases. The present review delineates the clinical immunology-related applications of HC–Ig-like domain cross-activation, which would greatly benefit medical professionals and immunological researchers alike. HCs/GJs and IGLDCPs mediate phagocytosis via ATP; “eat me and don’t eat me” signals trigger innate immunity; HC-mediated trogocytosis promotes antigen presentation and amplification in innate–adaptive immunity; HCs also mediate non-specific transcytosis of antibodies produced by mature B lymphocytes in adaptive immunity.

A typical characteristics of polydnavirus (PDV) infection is a persistent immunosuppression, governed by the viral integration and expression of virulence genes. Recently, activation of caspase-3 by Microplitis bicoloratus bracovirus (MbBV) to cleave Innexins, gap junction proteins, has been highlighted, further promoting apoptotic cell disassembly and apoptotic body (AB) formation. However, whether ABs play a role in immune suppression remains to be determined. Herein, we show that ABs transmitted immunosuppressive signaling, causing recipient cells to undergo apoptosis and dismigration. Furthermore, the insertion of viral–host integrated motif sites damaged the host genome, stimulating eIF5A nucleocytoplasmic transport and activating the eIF5A-hypusination translation pathway. This pathway specifically translates apoptosis-related host proteins, such as P53, CypA, CypD, and CypJ, to drive cellular apoptosis owing to broken dsDNA. Furthermore, translated viral proteins, such Vank86, 92, and 101, known to complex with transcription factor Dip3, positively regulated DHYS and DOHH transcription maintaining the activation of the eIF5A-hypusination. Mechanistically, MbBV-mediated extracellular vesicles contained inserted viral fragments that re-integrated into recipients, potentially via the homologous recombinant repair system. Meanwhile, this stimulation regulated activated caspase-3 levels via PI3K/AKT 308 and 473 dephosphorylation to promote apoptosis of granulocyte-like recipients Sf9 cell; maintaining PI3K/AKT 473 phosphorylation and 308 dephosphorylation inhibited caspase-3 activation leading to dismigration of plasmatocyte-like recipient High Five cells. Together, our results suggest that integration-mediated eIF5A hypusination drives extracellular vesicles for continuous immunosuppression.

Thyroid associated ophthalmopathy(TAO)is a type of orbital disease, it is caused by a specific autoimmune reaction, and is closely related to thyroid disease. Furthermore, TAO significantly affects the appearance and visual functionality of patients. Moreover, those with severe symptoms are at a risk of blindness, which makes it difficult for them to lead normal lives. However, its pathogenesis has not been fully established yet. Autophagy, is a process of phagocytosis and degradation of its own cytoplasmic proteins or organelles, this realizes the metabolic needs of cells and the renewal of some organelles. Previous studies have shown that, compared to normal people, the level of orbital autophagy in TAO patients is higher, and it plays an important role in the occurrence and development of the disease. This paper briefly describes the role of autophagy in the occurrence and development of TAO from three aspects, namely, inflammation, fat formation, and glycosaminoglycan(GAG)accumulation.

In this paper, we compare the performances of radio frequency interference (RFI) suppression between radio frequency interference mitigation (RFIM) and frequency-domain adaptive clutter suppression (FACS) algorithms that apply to ionograms for foF2 scaling through true height analysis. We find that the use of RFIM and FACS can both effectively suppress RFIs in ionograms to improve the signal-to-clutter (SCR) of the original ionogram. Overall, the RFI clutter suppressed by FACS is about 5–7 dB better than that by RFIM. In addition, the SCR improvement made by FACS with neighboring range cells in a range of 10–40 is also better than that made by RFIM, which is about 5–10 dB for FACS and 4–8 dB for RFIM, respectively. However, the signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) of the ionospheric echoes of the ionograms with FACS are about 3–5 dB (2–3 dB) smaller than those of RFIM during daytime (nighttime). Intercomparisons reveal that the correlations of the scaled foF2 values between the original and RFIM ionograms are slightly higher than those between the original and FACS ionograms, while the root-mean-square-error (RMSE) and mean bias of the former are slightly larger than the latter. These results indicate that the use of RFIM and FACS algorithms to suppress RFIs in ionograms can conditionally improve the quality of scaled foF2 using Ke et al.’s autoscaling algorithm. Statistical results reveal that the use of FACS algorithms can result in about a 5–12% improvement in uncertainty and a 9–80% improvement in accuracy, provided that 5–20 neighboring range cells are selected. As for the RFIM algorithm with a threshold of 2–2.5 times standard deviation, the improvements in uncertainty and accuracy are, respectively, about 0.9–10% and 11–90%.

Dust comprises particles usually present in the atmosphere. The deposition of dust on the surface of the solar panel seriously affects the light transmittance, resulting in lower pow-er generation efficiency and shortening the service life of the solar panel. Therefore, it is important to understand the dust distribution on the surface of solar panels and discuss the influence of dust on the power generation efficiency of solar panels for the efficient prevention of dust deposition on the panel. In this study, to analyze the dust distribution on the surface of the solar panel, the discrete element method was used to establish the contact mechanics model between dust particles and the solar panel. The number of dust particles on the surface of solar panels was calculated at different solar panel inclination angles, wind speeds, and wind directions. The wind speed of 1 and 3 m/s did not affect the dust deposition significantly but the speed over 5 m/s reduced the dust particles from the surface of the solar panel. The inclination angle of 23° influenced dust deposition on the surface of the solar panel. Wind direction did not show a significant effect on dust deposition. The longer the deposition time, the more particles remained on the surface due to the increased force between the particles and the surface of the solar panel. The results from calculation and measurement from transmittance were similar with a different rate of 3.41%. Thus, the result of the proposed calculation in this study provides a basis for de-signing the solar power generation plant and decision-making on the maintenance of the solar panel.

Butterflies are important indicator species for evaluating the impact of urbanization on the biodiversity. In order to explore the relationship among the butterfly community diversity, habitat types, and urbanization in Guangzhou. In 2023, based on the urbanization gradient, six sampling lines were selected from the range of 0-2 000 m, 2 000-4 000 m and 10 000 m away, and were divided into the near-natural plant communities and artificial plant communities according to the vegetation forms within the sampling lines. The line transect sampling method was used to investigate and statistically analyze the species and quantity of butterflies. The results showed that a total of 45 species belonging to 32 genera and 8 families of butterflies were investigated in the six sampling lines, with the dominant species being Ypthima balda. The Margalef species richness index, Shannon-Wiener index, Simpson index, Pielou species evenness index and Simpson dominance index of butterflies in the study area were all near-natural plant community sampling lines artificial plant community sampling lines. The number of families, genera and species, Margalef species richness index, Simpson dominance index, Shannon-Wiene index, and Simpson index in the community characteristics of butterfly were positively correlated with the distance from the city center and negatively correlated with the accessibility. The Pielou evenness index was negatively correlated with the distance from the city center and positively correlated with the accessibility. The number of butterflies and the Shannon-Wiene index were significantly influenced by human activities. It could be seen that the habitat types and human activities had important impact on the distribution of butterfly species, and the urbanization had relatively significant impact on the butterfly diversity in Guangzhou. In this work, the authors demonstrate the control of quality factor (Q‐factor) is laterally coupled vertical cavities. A 3 μm‐side‐length square cavity directly connected to a 1.5 μm‐width, 10 μm‐length Fabry–Perot (FP) cavity has been fabricated and measured. Dynamic tuning of the Q‐factor has been successfully observed by bringing the square cavity and FP cavity into resonance. The vertical‐cavity‐based Q‐factor control scheme provides a new choice for the modulation of light and holds potentials for applications associated with optical information processing.

Abstract The proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) acts via a canonical pathway to regulate circulating low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) via degradation of the LDL receptor (LDLR) on the liver cell surface. Published research has shown that PCSK9 is involved in atherosclerosis via a variety of non-classical mechanisms that involve lysosomal, inflammatory, apoptotic, mitochondrial, and immune pathways. In this review paper, we summarized these additional mechanisms and described how anti-PCSK9 therapy exerts effects through these mechanisms. These additional pathways further illustrate the regulatory role of PCSK9 in atherosclerosis and offer an in-depth interpretation of how the PCSK9 inhibitor exerts effects on the treatment of atherosclerosis.

BackgroundTriple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a highly heterogeneous breast cancer subtype with a poor prognosis due to its extremely aggressive nature and lack of effective treatment options. This study aims to summarize the current hotspots of TNBC research and evaluate the TNBC research trends, both qualitatively and quantitatively.MethodsScientific publications of TNBC-related studies from January 1, 2010 to October 17, 2020 were obtained from the Web of Science database. The BICOMB software was used to obtain the high-frequency keywords layout. The gCLUTO was used to produce a biclustering analysis on the binary matrix of word-paper. The co-occurrence and collaboration analysis between authors, countries, institutions, and keywords were performed by VOSviewer software. Keyword burst detection was performed by CiteSpace.ResultsA total of 12,429 articles related to TNBC were identified. During 2010-2020, the most productive country/region and institution in TNBC field was the USA and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, respectively. Cancer Research, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Annals of Oncology were the first three periodicals with maximum publications in TNBC research. Eight research hotspots of TNBC were identified by co-word analysis. In the core hotspots, research on neoadjuvant chemotherapy, paclitaxel therapy, and molecular typing of TNBC is relatively mature. Research on immunotherapy and PARP inhibitor for TNBC is not yet mature but is the current focus of this field. Burst detection of keywords showed that studies on TNBC proteins and receptors, immunotherapy, target, and tumor cell migration showed bursts in recent three years.ConclusionThe current study revealed that TNBC studies are growing. Attention should be paid to the latest hotspots, such as immunotherapy, PARP inhibitors, target, and TNBC proteins and receptors.

Thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy(TAO)is the most common orbital disease and is a specific autoimmune disorder, of which the etiology and pathogenesis is still unclear. TAO can affect the appearance and visual function of patients, and severe cases can lead to blindness. Tissue currently considered excessive expansion due to orbital fat is formed of one of the key pathological features TAO. The increase of orbital adipose tissue can directly lead to increased retrobulbar pressures and eyeball protrusion. As a new endocrine organ, adipose tissue can secrete a variety of adipocytokines, growth factors and protein molecules, some of which may be involved in the pathogenesis of TAO. The role of abnormal adipose tissue proliferation of TAO is reviewed from the expression of key proteins of adipose differentiation, autophagy, retrobulbar pressure and hypoxia.

In order to solve the chaotic synchronization problem of two neuron models with different structures, the dynamical behaviours of Fitzhugh-Nagumo (FHN) neurons and Morris-Lecar (ML) neurons are studied respectively. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, a controller is designed by using the method of projection synchronization, and the chaotic synchronization of two neuron models with different structures is realized by the controller. The neural synchronization system is applied to chaotic secure communication, and the simulation results verifies its effectiveness and reliability in secure communication.
