El presente trabajo argumenta que la decisión del Tribunal Constitucional adoptada en el caso Ugarteche, fue conforme a la vigente Constitución Política y a las obligaciones internacionales contraídas por el Perú. Para ello, analiza los argumentos vertidos en la sentencia, concluyendo que no corresponde al juez constitucional redefinir la institución matrimonial. En tal caso, tal atribución compete al legislador y/o el constituyente mediante una reforma constitucional.

La gastronomía ha concitado las últimas décadas en Occidente el interés de numerosos especialistas de las ciencias sociales y comunicadores. En Venezuela, su estudio de forma más amplia y generalizada se evidencia desde la década de 1980, correspondiendo con un período de consolidación de las clases medias, desarrollo de la mesa pública en Caracas y demás ciudades principales, e interés creciente de medios de comunicación y del público sobre alimentación y cocina, especialmente cocina tradicional. Pero la crisis económica y la emergencia alimentaria han conmocionado el régimen alimentario, la cocina cotidiana y la restauración, planteando retos ineludibles para la investigación. Gastronomy has attracted the interest of many specialists in the social sciences and communicators in the last decades in the West. In Venezuela, its study in a broader and more generalized way has been evidenced since the 1980s, corresponding to a period of consolidation of the middle classes, development of the public table in Caracas and other main cities, and growing interest from the media and from the public about food and cooking, especially traditional cuisine. Resumen Introduccion La diabetes es una de las principales pandemias en los ultimos anos. Su asociacion con depresion incrementa el riesgo de mortalidad y morbilidad. La coexistencia de ambas patologias produce un mal manejo de la diabetes, lo que conlleva a una peor calidad de vida. Objetivo Determinar la frecuencia de depresion en pacientes con diabetes mellitus y el efecto que tienen ambas patologias sobre la calidad de vida en pacientes que acuden de forma ambulatoria a establecimientos de salud publicos de Lima y Callao. Metodos Analisis secundario de la base de datos del Estudio Epidemiologico de Salud Mental de depresion en adultos diabeticos. El instrumento empleado para determinar el episodio depresivo fue el MINI (Entrevista Neuropsiquiatrica Internacional) mientras que la calidad de vida fue medida empleando el Indice de Calidad de Vida de Mezzich. Se obtuvo informacion de diagnostico de diabetes tipo 1 o 2 del registro medico diario (HIS) de atencion. Resultados La frecuencia de depresion en los 471 pacientes con diabetes fue 5,8% en las ultimas dos semanas. Mientras que la frecuencia anual fue 8,6% y en algun momento de la vida 31,8%. Ser mujer se asocio con mayor frecuencia de depresion. La calidad de vida fue menor en los pacientes con diabetes y depresion (p Conclusiones La frecuencia de depresion en pacientes con diabetes que son atendidos en forma ambulatoria en centros de salud publicos es mayor a la poblacion general y su calidad de vida se ve reducida significativamente, lo que plantea la necesidad de considerar la depresion como un factor aditivo a la carga de morbilidad de esta condicion.

Introduction Diabetes is one of the main pandemics in recent years. Its association with depression increases the risk of mortality and morbidity. The coexistence of both diseases leads to poor management of diabetes, which leads to a worse quality of life. Objective To determine the frequency of depression in patients with diabetes mellitus and the effect of both pathologies on the quality of life in patients who attend outpatient appointments at public health facilities in Lima and Callao. Methodology Secondary analysis of the Epidemiological Study of Mental Health of depression in diabetic adults. The instrument used to determine the depressive episode was the MINI (Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview) while quality of life was measured using the Mezzich Quality of Life Index. Diagnosis information of type 1 or 2 diabetes was obtained from the daily medical record (HIS) of care. Results The frequency of depression in the 471 patients with diabetes was 5.8% in the last two weeks. While the annual frequency was 8.6% and 31.8% at some point in life. Being a woman was associated with a greater frequency of depression. Quality of life was lower in patients with diabetes and depression (p Conclusions The frequency of depression in patients with diabetes who are treated on an outpatient basis in public health centres is higher than the general population and their quality of life is significantly reduced, which raises the need for considering depression as an additional factor to the burden of morbidity of this condition.

In this study, a mathematical model to simulate the drying of shelled corn in a continuous plug-flow fluidised bed dryer is presented. Equipment and material models were applied to describe the process. The equipment model was based on the differential equations obtained by applying mass and energy balances to each element of the dryer. In the case of the material model, mass and heat transfer rates in a single isolated particle were considered. Calculation results were verified by comparison with experimental data from the literature. There was a very good agreement between experimental data and simulation. The effects of gas temperature and velocity, particle diameter, dry solid flow and solid temperature on the drying process were investigated. It was found that the changes in gas velocity, dry solids flow and the solid temperature had essentially no effect on the drying process.

The study of the pre-Mesozoic geological history of NE Mexico offers the opportunity to reconstruct the processes that occurred at the NW margin of Gondwana. The Huizachal–Peregrina Anticlinorium, which is located west of Ciudad Victoria (Tamaulipas) is a regional structure produced during the Cretaceous–Palaeogene Laramide Orogeny. Its eroded core exposes Precambrian and Palaeozoic units that together comprise the Sierra Madre Oriental basement. These units are the Neoproterozoic metamorphic Novillo Complex, the Ordovician Peregrina Tonalite, the metamorphic Pennsylvanian Granjeno Complex, and the sedimentary Silurian–Permian Tamatan Group. Aserradero Rhyolite belongs to the Tamatan Group, occurring between the siliciclastic deposits of the Early Mississippian Vicente Guerrero and the Pennsylvanian Del Monte Formations. The studied rhyolites display geochemical characteristics corresponding to high-K, low-Sr, and S-type granitoid rocks that may have been produced by upper-crustal anatexis from a source similar to that of the Novillo Complex. New LA-ICP-MS U–Pb geochronological analysis on zircons separated from the Aserradero Rhyolite yielded Early to Middle Mississippian crystallisation ages of 347.8 ± 2.7 Ma and 340.7 ± 3.6 Ma, confirming that this acidic unit is in its original stratigraphic position despite the pervasive deformation of the Tamatan Group. Based on the correlation with other Carboniferous–Early Permian magmatic complexes in Mexico and Central America, it is suggested that the Aserradero Rhyolite represents an early stage of a precollisional Carboniferous–Permian peri-Gondwanan arc, occurring also in the Las Delicias, Oaxaquia, the Acatlan Complex, the Maya Block, as well as in the buried crystalline basement along the Western Gulf of Mexico. The assembly of the Precambrian and Palaeozoic basement units from the Huizachal–Peregrina Anticlinorium were integrated with the Ciudad Victoria Block, which was dismembered from Oaxaquia and their peripheral units during the Upper-Jurassic Gulf of Mexico opening.

The origin of the Eastern Mexican Alkaline Province has been explained by landward arc migration and subsequent asthenospheric upwelling after slab roll-back of the Farallon Plate. In this work, we present new petrographic, mineral chemical, geochemical, and geochronological data of the Sierra de San Carlos-Cruillas (SSCC), one of the most important complexes in the province. This information, together with published data, helped us to reinterpret the tectonic processes operating during the generation of this province, as well as the mantle sources involved in the partial melting process. Detailed geochemical analysis suggests the participation of two types of metasomatized mantle regions: a lithospheric source modified by past subduction processes and an asthenospheric source slightly affected by carbonatite-related metasomatism. Variations in the partial melting degrees controlled the extent of magma enrichment in the latter. Major and trace element geochemistry, together with geochronological data and field relations, evinced an older post-orogenic setting related to the arc-like rocks (Eocene) and a younger intraplate extensional environment associated with all enriched igneous rocks (Oligocene-Miocene). Bivariate diagrams of SiO2-trace element ratios and multi-element patterns indicate that magmas from the SSCC complex dominantly evolved through fractional crystallization with a limited crustal contribution. Petrographic and mineral chemistry features suggest that some of these magmas experienced open-system processes (e.g. recharge events) in a complex and dynamic magmatic feeding system. In contrast to the traditional petrotectonic model, we propound that the passage and subsequent foundering of the Hess conjugate under northeastern Mexico resulted in its eclogitization and triggered slab tearing and succeeding detachment. This latter process occasioned mantle upwelling and the partial melting of the two recognized metasomatized mantle sources, thus generating the San Carlos-Cruillas magmatism.

In the last few years, the effectiveness of nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) as a treatment for polluted waters and soils has been widely studied. However, little data are available on its efficacy for metal immobilization at low and moderate doses. In this study, the effectiveness of two doses of commercial nZVI (1 and 5%) to immobilize Cu and/or Ni in water and acidic soil samples was evaluated. The influence of the nanoremediation technology on iron availability, physico-chemical soil properties and soil phytotoxicity was also assessed. The results show that the effectiveness of nZVI to immobilize Cu and Ni in water and soil samples was determined by the dose of the nanomaterial and the presence of both metals. Nickel immobilization was significantly decreased by the presence of Cu but the opposite effect was not observed. nZVI showed better immobilization capacity in water than in soil samples. In water, the dose of 5% completely removed both metals, whereas at a lower dose (1%) the percentage of immobilized metal decreased, especially for Ni in Cu + Ni samples. In soil samples, 5% nZVI was more effective in immobilizing Ni than Cu, with a 54% and 21% reduction of leachability, respectively, in single contaminated samples. In Cu + Ni soil samples, nZVI treatment led to a significant decrease in Ni immobilization, similar to that observed in water samples. The application of nZVI induced a dose-dependent increase in available Fe—a relevant effect in the context of soil rehabilitation. Germination assays of Medicago sativa and Vicia sativa seeds revealed that treatment with nZVI did not induce phytotoxicity under the experimental conditions tested, and that the phytotoxicity induced by Ni decreased significantly after the treatment. Thus, the use of nZVI emerges as an interesting option for Cu and/or Ni immobilization in water samples. The effectiveness of nZVI to remove Cu from acidic soil samples was moderate, while for Ni it was strongly dependent on the presence of Cu. These observations therefore indicate that the results in water samples cannot be extrapolated to soil samples.

This article outlines some reflections about digital reality, contemporary art production, and possible ways of archiving and constructing memory through and for a historiography of contemporary art in light of the project Archivo Espa��ol de Media Art / Spanish Archive of Media Art (AEMA/SAOMA). In the first part I propose a definition and an account of media art and its artifacts. In the second part I present and describe the SAOMA project, and its antecedent, the MIDECIANT museum project, and discuss the conceptual and technical requirements of an archive devoted to the media arts. In the third part I sketch some interconnections between the concepts of memory and archive with reference to new media art and outline the difficulties that are inherent to any effort to define and archive these art forms. En conclusión, se referirá a los resultados/conclusiones realizadas por parte del investigador, con el fin de que los lectores puedan tener una idea clara y concisa de lo aprendido por parte del escritor.

This article proposes an approach to ensure consistency between constitutive formulations used in double-porosity models when the macrostructural void ratio, eM, is very small. These formulations model processes of different physical natures and therefore are usually presented independently, in which case an additive decomposition is assumed, and they calculate the total strain of the system as the sum of the strains caused by each process. This independence means that when eM is reduced, the contributions considered are not always consistent. To solve this problem, soil stiffness in the proposed approach is increased when eM is reduced, and at the same time the effect on strain by macrostructural processes not linked to changes in stress is reduced. To simulate the flow, it is assumed that there is always a minimum operating value of eM that controls mass transport. This approach was applied to a practical case, and confirmed that when the effect of the stress state on microstructure behavior was taken into account, the conceptual framework initially proposed for non-negligible eM values was satisfactorily extended., Este artículo propone un enfoque para asegurar la consistencia entre las formulaciones constitutivas utilizadas en los modelos de doble porosidad cuando la relación de vacío macroestructural , e M , es muy pequeña. Estas formulaciones modelan procesos de diferente naturaleza física y por lo tanto se suelen presentar de forma independiente, en cuyo caso se supone una descomposición aditiva, y calculan la deformación total del sistema como la suma de las deformaciones provocadas por cada proceso. Esta independencia hace que cuando e M se reduce, las contribuciones consideradas no siempre son consistentes. Para resolver este problema, la rigidez del suelo en el enfoque propuesto se incrementa cuando e Mse reduce, y al mismo tiempo se reduce el efecto sobre la deformación por procesos macroestructurales no vinculados a cambios en la tensión. Para simular el flujo, se supone que siempre hay un valor mínimo de operación de e M que controla el transporte masivo. Este enfoque se aplicó a un caso práctico y confirmó que cuando se tuvo en cuenta el efecto del estado tensional sobre el comportamiento de la microestructura, el marco conceptual propuesto inicialmente para valores de e M no despreciables se amplió satisfactoriamente.

Durante el 2020 el Perú ha reportado 1.019.395 casos COVID-19 y 37.714 fallecidos por esta enfermedad, con una tasa de 3.125 casos y 116 decesos por cada 100.000 habitantes1. Las mujeres tienen una frecuencia de COVID-19 menor a los varones (tasa de 300,34 frente a 324,74 por cada 10.000 habitantes en los varones; p < 0,0001), junto a una letalidad del 54,6% menor (tasa de 7,24 frente a 15,94 por cada 10.000 habitantes en los varones; p < 0,0001). Tanto la tasa de casos como la de fallecidos por regiones disminuye conforme aumenta la altura (figs. 1A y C), siendo la pendiente más pronunciada en los decesos. No hay diferencia en las curvas de casos por altura de la región de residencia entre varones y mujeres (fig. 1B), pero sí en la de fallecidos donde es significativamente menor en mujeres (fig. 1D). La diferencia de las tasas entre las regiones a nivel del mar con las más elevadas es mayor del 57,64%, en Callao la tasa es de 385,95 por cada 10.000 habitantes, mientras que en Pasco es de 244,83, siendo la diferencia mayor cuando comparamos la letalidad (Callao 17,52, mientras que en Pasco es 5,08 por cada 10.000 habitantes)...

The temperature effect on the microstructure deformability of compacted bentonites was assessed using a Clausius-Clapeyron type equation. To this end, vapor adsorption data obtained at different temperatures under low water content conditions was used, identifying changes in the microstructural water with changes in the microstructural void volume. The formulation proposed allows for an extension of the 2D-models used in macroscopic double-porosity approaches to a 3D surface in which temperature is explicitly considered. The results obtained were encouraging, fitting the experimental data highly satisfactorily. Therefore, the approach proposed in this study can be a key tool for characterizing the nonisothermal behavior of compacted bentonites., El efecto de la temperatura sobre la deformabilidad de la microestructura de las bentonitas compactadas se evaluó mediante una ecuación tipo Clausius-Clapeyron. Para ello, se utilizaron datos de adsorción de vapor obtenidos a diferentes temperaturas en condiciones de bajo contenido de agua, identificando cambios en el agua microestructural con cambios en el volumen vacío microestructural. La formulación propuesta permite una extensión de los modelos 2D utilizados en los enfoques macroscópicos de doble porosidad a una superficie 3D en la que se considera explícitamente la temperatura. Los resultados obtenidos fueron alentadores, ajustando muy satisfactoriamente los datos experimentales. Por lo tanto, el enfoque propuesto en este estudio puede ser una herramienta clave para caracterizar el comportamiento no isotérmico de las bentonitas compactadas.

Introduction: Brain metastases (BM) in soft-tissue sarcomas (STS) is associated with poor prognosis. This large population analysis presents (1) demographic and clinical variables of these patients, (2) potential risk factors, (3) impact of BM on overall survival, and (4) treatment strategies. Methods: Patients with STS and BM were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. Demographic and clinical variables, as well as treatment modalities, were analyzed. Overall 5-year survival was calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and the survival difference was assessed using the log-rank test. A multivariate analysis was performed using the Cox proportional hazard regression to determine the risk factors. Results: Twenty-two patients (22/8,433) with STS presented BM at diagnosis. A multivariate analysis showed that women and American Indians/Alaska Natives had a greater risk of presenting BM. The most common histological subtype to metastasize to the brain was alveolar soft part sarcoma (4/22). In 54.5% of patients with BM, the tumor had also metastasized to the lung, although having synchronous bone, liver, and lung metastases showed the greatest increase in risk for presenting BM (odd ratio [OR] = 1,857.7, confidence interval [CI] 95%, 88.4 to 3,9046.6, P < 0.0001). Individually, bone metastasis increased the risk of presenting BM the most (OR = 205.0, CI 95%, 30.5 to 1,379.6, P < 0.0001). The mean survival of patients with BM was 10.22 months. The standard treatment approach included surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Conclusion: BM in patients with STS represents an infrequent but lethal event. Women and American Indians/Alaska Natives are at a higher risk of presenting BM, as well as patients with synchronous metastases. Patients are mainly managed with systemic therapy.
