Las calles del Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Puebla [CHP] son angostas y muchas tienen baches y alcantarillas en mal estado. A esto se suma la miríada de agentes que ocupan las aceras. Esta situación complica la movilidad por esta zona. Consideramos necesario favorecer el uso común y sostenible del espacio público urbano. Por ello, nos planteamos la meta de conocer cómo algunos agentes gradúan y dosifican el uso de algunas vías públicas del CHP de modo tal que dificultan la movilidad urbana. Así, adoptamos como perspectiva teórica la Teoría del Actor-Red y realizamos una aproximación cuasi-etnográfica, durante la cual observamos e interactuamos con agentes que se apropian del espacio público y dificultan la movilidad en el CHP. Presentamos las acciones-red que despliegan estos agentes y ofrecemos algunos elementos conceptuales que deben tomarse en cuenta para re-ensamblar las redes con miras a la construcción de un mundo común.

La Teoría del Caos, considerada la tercera revolución de la física, se ha convertido en un método científico para abordar sistemas complejos que no pueden ser explicados por los recursos tradicionales de la ciencia. Su campo de aplicación es cada vez más amplio porque el pensamiento complejo ha ofrecido solución a numerosos sistemas en la naturaleza, la biología y muy diversas esferas de la vida. El objetivo de este trabajo es ofrecer una panorámica general sobre el tema, desde una postura no estrictamente matemática. Se realizó una revisión en la literatura y se expone el conocimiento sedimentado en el tiempo, por los estudiosos y expertos en la materia. Se ofrece una visión general de la Teoría del Caos, las condiciones para su surgimiento, así como sus aspectos y propiedades generales expresadas en sus dos dimensiones: tiempo (sistemas dinámicos) y espacio (fractales). Se hacen explícitos en cada caso, los conceptos y definiciones necesarias para entender y hablar de Caos. En un segundo artículo se expondrán las principales aplicaciones de esta teoría en la medicina y en particular en el campo de las neurociencias. Para los profesionales del sector salud, resulta un reto necesario familiarizarse con este nuevo enfoque, entender su esencia, principios y conceptos, para adquirir una cultura del Caos. Abstract Chaos Theory, considered the third revolution in physics, has become a scientific method to address complex systems that cannot be explained by the traditional resources of science. Its field of application is increasingly wide because complex thinking has offered solutions to numerous systems in nature, biology and very diverse spheres of life. The objective of this work is to offer a general overview of the subject, from a non-strictly mathematical position. A literature review was carried out and the knowledge settled over time, by scholars and experts in the field, is exposed. An overview of Chaos Theory is offered, the conditions for its emergence, as well as its aspects and general properties expressed in its two dimensions: time (dynamic systems) and space (fractals). The concepts and definitions necessary to understand and speak of Chaos are made explicit in each case. In a second article, the main applications of this theory in medicine and in particular in the field of neurosciences will be exposed. For professionals in the health sector, it is a necessary challenge to become familiar with this new approach, understand its essence, principles and concepts, to acquire a culture of Chaos. Evaluating candidates for novel materials with high nonlinear absorption properties for applications as biomarkers is a very important field of research. In this context, experimental and computational information on the two-photon absorption (TPA) properties of the dye IR780 is shown. The two-photon absorption data from 850 to 1000 nm for IR780 and other two well-known dyes, taken as reference, are presented. The experimental data were collected via an implementation of the two-photon induced fluorescence technique, while the quantum chemical data were produced by implementing DFT (Density-functional theory) methods. The data presented here supplement the paper “Two-photon absorption spectrum and characterization of the upper electronic states of dye IR780” by Guarin et al. (2021).

El objetivo de este artículo es analizar el gasto en inversión pública con financiamiento externo sostenible. El desarrollo teórico considera las condiciones de solvencia y cumplimiento fiscal que permitan determinar una regla de acumulación de deuda sostenible con una política de gasto en inversión pública. Empíricamente se analiza una función de reacción fiscal que valida la hipótesis de efectos positivos de la implementación de la regla sobre el balance primario y sobre la inversión física presupuestaria para el periodo 1990:I-2019:IV. Los resultados sugieren discutir la pertinencia de modificar la política de endeudamiento y gasto público para el estímulo de la actividad económica.

Background: In spore-forming bacteria, the molecular mechanisms of accumulation of transfer RNA (tRNA) during sporulation must be a priority as tRNAs play an essential role in protein synthesis during spore germination and outgrowth. However, tRNA processing has not been extensively studied in these conditions, and knowledge of these mechanisms is important to understand long-term stress survival. Methods:To gain further insight into tRNA processing during spore germination and outgrowth, the expression of the single copy tRNA Cys gene was analyzed in the presence and absence of 1.2 M NaCl in Bacillus subtilis using RNA-Seq data obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. The CLC Genomics work bench 12.0.2 (CLC Bio, Aarhus, Denmark, https://www.qiagenbioinformatics.com/) was used to analyze reads from the tRNA Cys gene. Results:The results show that spores store different populations of tRNA Cys-related molecules. One such population, representing 60% of total tRNA Cys, was composed of tRNA Cys fragments. Half of these fragments (3´-tRF) possessed CC, CCA or incorrect additions at the 3´end. tRNA Cys with correct CCA addition at the 3´end represented 23% of total tRNA Cys, while with CC addition represented 9% of the total and with incorrect addition represented 7%. While an accumulation of tRNA Cys precursors was induced by upregulation of the rrnD operon under the control of σ A -dependent promoters under both conditions investigated, salt stress produced only a modest effect on tRNA Cys expression and the accumulation of tRNA Cys related species. Conclusions:The results demonstrate that tRNA Cys molecules resident in spores undergo dynamic processing to produce functional molecules that may play an essential role during protein synthesis.

Coffee is one of the most important agricultural commodities of Mexico. Mapping coffee land cover is still a challenge because it is grown mainly on small areas in agroforestry systems (AFS), which are located in hard-to-access mountainous regions. The objective of this research was to map coffee AFS types in a mountainous region using the changing spectral response patterns over the dry season as well as supplementary data. We employed Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and ALOS-Palsar images, a digital elevation model, soil moisture layers, and 150 field plots. First, we defined three coffee AFS types based on their structural and spectral characteristics. Then, we performed a recursive feature elimination analysis to identify the most relevant predictor variables for each land use/cover class in the region. Next, we constructed a predictor variable dataset for each AFS type and one for the remaining land use/cover classes. Afterward, four maps were generated using a random forest (RF) classifier. Finally, we combined the four maps into a unique land-cover map through a maximum likelihood algorithm. Using a validation sample of 932 sites derived from Planet images (4.5 m pixel size), we estimated a 95% map overall accuracy. Two AFS types were classified as having low error; the third, with the highest tree density, had the lowest accuracy. The results obtained show that the infrared and near-infrared bands from the Sentinel-2 scenes are particularly useful for coffee AFS discrimination. However, supplementary data are required to improve the performance of the classifier. Our findings also highlight the importance of the multi-temporal and multi-dataset approach for identifying complex production systems in areas of high topographic heterogeneity.

Chili powder is the most frequently consumed spice in Mexican diets. Thus, the dissemination of microorganisms associated with chili powder derived from Capsicum annuum L. is significant during microbial quality analysis, with special attention on detection of potential pathogens. The results presented here describe the initial characterization of bacterial community structure in commercial chili powder samples. Our results demonstrate that, within the domain Bacteria, the most abundant family was Bacillaceae, with a relative abundance of 99% in 71.4% of chili powder samples, while 28.6% of samples showed an average relative abundance of 60% for the Enterobacteriaceae family. Bacterial load for aerobic mesophilic bacteria (AMB) ranged from 104 to 106 cfu/g, while for sporulated mesophilic bacteria (SMB), the count ranged from 102 to 105 cfu/g. Bacillus cereus sensu lato (s.l.) was observed at ca. ˂600 cfu/g, while the count for Enterobacteriaceae ranged from 103 to 106 cfu/g, Escherichia coli and Salmonella were not detected. Fungal and yeast counts ranged from 102 to 105 cfu/g. Further analysis of the opportunistic pathogens isolated, such as B. cereus s.l. and Kosakonia cowanii, using antibiotic-resistance profiles and toxinogenic characteristics, revealed the presence of extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) and Metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs) in these organisms. These results extend our knowledge of bacterial diversity and the presence of opportunistic pathogens associated with Mexican chili powder and highlight the potential health risks posed by its use through the spread of antibiotic-resistance and the production of various toxins. Our findings may be useful in developing procedures for microbial control during chili powder production.

Currently, destructive methods are often used to measure the quality parameters of agricultural products. These methods are often complex, time consuming and costly. Recently, studying to find a solution to the disadvantages of destructive methods has become a major challenge for researchers. Non-destructive methods can be useful for the rapid detection of the quality parameters of agricultural products. In this study, hyperspectral imaging was used to evaluate the non-destructive quality parameters of Red Delicious (Red Delicious) and Golden Delicious (Golden Delicious) apples, including pH, soluble solids content (SSC), titratable acid (TA) and total phenol (TP). In order to predict the quality characteristics of apples, the partial least squares (PLS) method with different pre-processing was used. The developed models were evaluated using the root mean square parameters of RMSECV validation error, correlation coefficient (Rcv) and standard deviation ratio (SDR). The results showed that in Red Delicious, for pH, TA, SSC and TP the best forecasting methods were SNV, SNV, MSC and normalized pre-processing with the regression coefficient values of 0.9919, 0.9939, 0.9909 and 0.9899, respectively. In Golden Delicious (Golden Delicious), for pH, TA, SSC and TP, the first derivative, (smoothing and second derivative), normalize (and SNV and normalize) preprocessors were selected as the best prediction models, with values of 0.9989, 0.9989, 0.9999 and 0.9989, respectively. The results related to an artificial neural network also showed that in hyperspectral imaging, the best state of the feed-forward network structure with the LM training algorithm was R = 0.93, Performance = 0.005 and RMSE = 0.03 in 325 inputs, 5 outputs and 2 hidden layers. The results showed that hyperspectral imaging has different predictive capabilities for the qualitative characteristics studied in this study with high accuracy.

In tennis, coaches consider balance fundamental for the acquisition of skilled motor performance. However, the potential relationship between balance and tennis expertise and performance has not been explored yet. Therefore, this study assessed the relationship between balance and tennis performance using linear and non-linear parameters through 1) the comparison of tennis players of different ages and levels of expertise, and 2) analyzing the relationship between balance and tennis serving speed and accuracy. One hundred and six recreational and expert male tennis players took part in the study (age range 10-35 years old). Temporal dynamics of postural control during a balance task on an unstable surface were analyzed through the mean velocity and the detrended fluctuation analysis (DFAV) of center of pressure (COP). Tennis serve performance was quantified by measuring accuracy and speed. Traditional variables measuring balance performance only showed differences according to age but not to sport performance. COP showed a reduction of auto-correlated variability (reflected by DFAV) with age but mainly in expert players. COP dynamics was the only balance parameter discriminating sport expertise and it was related to age. Balance dynamics exhibited by expert tennis players DFAV results support the idea that, along the years, sport experience induces balance adaptations characterized by a higher ability to perform postural adjustments. These results also reinforce the use of non-linear analysis to reveal subtle balance adaptations produced by sport practice. Finally, the lack of correlations suggests that balance, measured with scattering variables, in a non-specific task is not a main determinant of sport performance in tennis serve.

Este estudio se dedicó al análisis mediante el Modelo de Reconocimiento Resonante (RRM) de las proteínas del SARS-CoV-2 y su posible interacción con otras proteínas humanas, específicamente, fueron analizadas las replicasas de SARS CoV y las metiltransferasas, mediante análisis RRM, para detectar posibles interacciones con las Proteínas del receptor CD4 T y las prohibitinas humanas, las cuales participan en la respuesta del organismo humano a las infecciones virales. Se estudiaron las siguientes secuencias de proteínas: veinte proteínas metiltransferasas del coronavirus del SARS humano, ocho replicasas, veintiuna prohibitinas y once proteínas T4 de antígenos de superficie de células T CD4. Los resultados revelaron picos de RRM en f1 = 0.07349 y f2 = 0.2839. El pico en f1 también fue común para la interacción entre las metiltransferasas del SARS-CoV-2 y las prohibitinas humanas, donde la fase opuesta sugiere la unión entre estas proteínas durante la infección viral. Esta interacción no fue apoyada para la metiltransferasa viral y los receptores CD4 humanos (cambio de fase de 72,4 o). Las réplicas virales exhibieron una interacción de fase opuesta tanto con las prohibitinas como con los receptores CD4. En general, el análisis de RRM reveló frecuencias comunes de RRM para replicasas y metiltransferasas, y apoyó plausibilidad de las interacciones entre la metiltransferasa de SARSCoV2 y la prohibitina humana, así como entre la replicasa de Cov2 del SARS con la prohibitina humana y los receptores de células T CD4. ABSTRACT This study was devoted to the Resonant Recognition Model (RRM) analysis of SARS-CoV-2 proteins and their possible interaction with other human proteins, specifically, SARS CoV replicases and methyl transferases, were tested, via RRM analysis, for possible interactions with host CD4 T receptor proteins and prohibitins which participate in human organism response to viral infections. The following protein sequences were studied: twenty human SARS coronavirus methyltransferase proteins, eight replicase proteins, twenty-one prohibitin proteins, and eleven CD4 –T-cell surface antigens T4 proteins. Results revealed RRM peaks at f1=0.07349 and f2=0.2839. The peak at f1 was also common for interaction between SARS-CoV-2 methyl transferases and human prohibitins, where opposite phase suggest binding between these proteins during viral infection. This interaction was not supported for viral methyltransferase and human CD4 receptors (72.4 o phase shift). Viral replicases exhibited opposite phase interaction with both prohibitins and CD4 receptors. Overall, RRM revealed common RRM frequencies for both replicases and methyl transferases, and added plausibility to interactions between SARSCoV2 methyl transferase and human prohibitin, as well as between SARS Cov2 replicase and human prohibitin and CD4 T-cell receptors. Thanks to an extraordinary synergy between many heterogeneous factors, the fertile seedlings planted in the Sixties flourished and bore fruit in the 1970s. Slowly, their branches entwined throughout Western society up until the end of that decade and beyond. The elements influencing this metamorphosis are brought to light and discussed in the rich, in-depth articles collected in this monographic issue of Espacio, Tiempo y Educación, entitled The Sixties Reloaded. Exploring social movements, student protests and youth rebellion –a new exploration of the decade that has generally been relegated to the body of sociological and philosophical research. They were rich and dense years: the goal of the younger generations was to create a new symbolic imaginary, which took shape through music, fashions and alternative lifestyles that stood out in stark contrast to those enjoyed by their parents and grandparents. They went to the streets to protest: they alarmed the politicians in power who tried to convey through the media a very simplified version of the young, so missing the most significant development in the 1960s –the youth taking on a new role, becoming visible in “other” places, beyond the traditional spaces for protest, fighting for pacifism and civil rights, in an attempt to unite the utopian desire to change the world with a recognition of a strong subjectivity.

Background: Capsaicinoids are exclusive of the genus Capsicum and are responsible for fruit pungency. The genetic basis of pungency is not yet fully understood, although several candidate genes have been analyzed including the Pungent gene (Pun1). Objective: The main aim of this study was to identify the Pun1 in some pungent samples of Capsicum annuum of Northern Mexico adapted to conditions of high temperature and analyze the variability of polymorphisms in the gene. Methodology: The coding sequence of the Pun1 gene was analyzed by Polymerase Chain Reaction and Restriction Fragment Length. Results: The Pun1 gene showed highly variable patterns; the variable regions were sequenced, and we found 19 single nucleotide polymorphisms in the first exon and 7 in the intron, some polymorphisms generated amino acid changes; while that of Chiltepin cultivar showed more than one sequence. Implications: The protein homology model suggests that these polymorphisms could affect their functionality. Conclusion: All the pungent cultivars of Mexican C. annuum analyzed were positive to Pun1 gene and have a high variety of polymorphisms, this study provides evidence of the high variability that exists in the Pun1 gene responsible for pungency and could allow the selection of pungent variants to obtain a greater quantity of capsaicinoids for different applications.

To use machine vision technology in visual quality control of cereal seeds, sufficient knowledge is necessary. In this work, the capability of machine visual systems, equipped with industrial digital cameras for the identification and classification of seven-grain groups in wheat seed samples, was studied. Two statistical models and three support vector machines were employed in this study. Through image processing of 21,000 single grains, the shape, colour, and textural features of each grain were determined. Ninety-one features were ranked through the ReliefF method. The shape features were the most prominent, followed by the textural and colour features. Among the five models tested, the highest classification accuracy was obtained using quadratic support vector machine (QSVM) and the first 35 features. In the test run of this model with independent data, the classification accuracy for sound white wheat, small white wheat, broken white wheat, shrunken white wheat, red wheat, barley and rye were, respectively, 98.7, 98, 99.3, 90.7, 99, 100, and 97.3%, with an overall average accuracy of 97.6%. In the context of this study, the machine vision system—comprising an industrial digital camera and quadratic support vector machine or non-linear discriminate analysis method—was identified as a valuable system in the investigation of the visual qualities of wheat seeds.

In this work, we present an electrochemical study of the boron cage monomercaptoundecahydro-closo-dodecaborate [B12H11SH]2− in solution and in a self-assembled monolayer over a polycrystalline gold electrode. Cyclic voltammetry of the anion [B12H11SH]2− in solution showed a shift in the peak potentials related to the redox processes of gold hydroxides, which evidences the interaction between the boron cage and the gold surface. For an Au electrode modified with the anion [B12H11SH]2−, cyclic voltammetry response of the probe Fe(CN)63−/Fe(CN)64− showed a ΔEp value typical for a surface modification. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy presented Rtc and Cdl values related to the formation of a self-assembled monolayer (SAM). A comparison of electrochemical responses of a modified electrode with thioglycolic acid (TGA) reveals that the boron cage [B12H11SH]2− diminishes the actives sites over the Au surface due to the steric effects. Differential capacitance measurements for bare gold electrode and those modified with [B12H11SH]2− and (TGA), indicate that bulky thiols enhance charge accumulation at the electrode–solution interface. In addition to electrochemical experiments, DFT calculations and surface plasmon resonance measurements (SPR) were carried out to obtain quantum chemical descriptors and to evaluate the molecular length and the dielectric constant of the Boron cage. From SPR experiments, the adsorption kinetics of [B12H11SH]2− were studied. The data fit for a Langmuir kinetic equation, typical for the formation of a monolayer.

ABSTRACT Objective: the objective of this study was to analyze the anatomical and clinical features and long-term oncologic outcomes of 25 patients that underwent surgery due to intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm of the pancreas. Material and methods: patients undergoing surgery for intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm of the pancreas were identified from a prospective database of pancreatic resections. Demographic data, symptoms, type of surgery and type of lesion (branch type, main duct or mixed) were recorded. The lesions were classified into invasive (high grade dysplasia and carcinoma) and noninvasive (low- or intermediate-grade dysplasia). Postoperative complications were analyzed as well as the pattern of recurrence and disease-free survival at five and ten years. Results: the most common symptoms in the 25 patients (14 males and eleven females) were abdominal pain and weight loss. Eight (32%) cases were diagnosed incidentally. Twelve (48%) of the lesions were of the branch type, three affected the main duct and ten (40%) were mixed. Twelve cephalic duodenopancreatectomies and seven total pancreatectomies were performed; three were central; two, distal; and one, enucleation. Seven cases (32%) had an invasive phenotype. Three patients had locoregional and distant recurrence at six, 16 and 46 months after surgery with a median follow-up of 7.7 years. Disease-free survival at five and ten years for the noninvasive type was 94% and 57% for invasive phenotypes (p < 0.05). Conclusions: intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm is a heterogeneous entity with well differentiated phenotypes, which requires a tailored strategy and treatment, as established in the current consensus guidelines due to its malignant potential.

ABSTRACT Purpose: the aim of this study was to compare overall and disease-free survival among patients with colorectal cancer detected via a screening program as compared to those with symptomatic cancer. Material and methods: patients diagnosed via colonoscopy (screening group) and those with clinical symptoms (non-screening) were identified from 1995 to 2014. Demographic, clinical, surgical and pathologic variables were recorded. Stage I, II and III cancers were included. Overall and disease-free survival were calculated at five and ten years after tumor resection and survival was calculated by matching both groups for cancers at stage I, II and III. Results: two hundred and fifty patients were identified as a result of screening procedures and 1,330 patients presented with symptomatic cancers. There were no significant differences in the baseline characteristics between the two groups. Pathologic stage, degree of differentiation, perineural invasion and lymphovascular invasion were lower in the screening group (p < 0.01). Overall and disease-free survival at five and ten years were higher in the screening group (p < 0.01). However, when the subjects were matched for pathologic stage, significant differences were found between the two groups with regard to stage I and III tumors. Disease-free survival in stage III at five years (79.1 vs 61.7%; p < 0.001) and ten years (79.1% vs 58.5%; p < 0.001) were significantly higher in the screening group. Conclusions: patients with stage I and III tumors that were diagnosed via a screening program have a higher overall and disease-free survival at five and ten years.

Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola, is the causal agent of halo blight on bean, a disease characterized by water soaked lesions surrounded by a chlorotic halo, which is produced by the action of phaseolotoxin, a nonhost-specific toxin optimally produced between 18°C to 20°C. To protect itself against phaseolotoxin, P. syringae pv. phaseolicola possesses a phaseolotoxin-resistant OCTase (ROCT) encoded by argK, which is expressed under conditions leading to the synthesis of phaseolotoxin. The promoter of argK is divergent to that of phtABC genes and both share an interpromoter region. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the role of the interpromoter region on argK transcription in P. syringae pv. phaseolicola. To this, deletions of the interpromoter region were made and argK expression was evaluated in an heterologous system. Also, the effect of multiple copies of the interpromoter region on phaseolotoxin production was determined. The obtained results showed that this region is necessary to enhance the transcription of argK. Additionally, this region in a multiple copies, interfered with the thermoregulation of phaseolotoxin at 28°C in strain P. syringae pv. phaseolicola NPS3121.

Abstract Background Epidemiology and the reporting characteristics of systematic reviews (SRs) and meta-analyses (MAs) are well known. However, no study has analyzed the influence of protocol features on the probability that a study’s results will be finally reported, thereby indirectly assessing the reporting bias of International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) registration records. Objective The objective of this study is to explore which factors are associated with a higher probability that results derived from a non-Cochrane PROSPERO registration record for a systematic review will be finally reported as an original article in a scientific journal. Methods/design The PROSPERO repository will be web scraped to automatically and iteratively obtain all completed non-Cochrane registration records stored from February 2011 to December 2017. Downloaded records will be screened, and those with less than 90% fulfilled or are duplicated (i.e., those sharing titles and reviewers) will be excluded. Manual and human-supervised automatic methods will be used for data extraction, depending on the data source (fields of PROSPERO registration records, bibliometric databases, etc.). Records will be classified into published, discontinued, and abandoned review subgroups. All articles derived from published reviews will be obtained through multiple parallel searches using the full protocol “title” and/or “list reviewers” in MEDLINE/PubMed databases and Google Scholar. Reviewer, author, article, and journal metadata will be obtained using different sources. R and Python programming and analysis languages will be used to describe the datasets; perform text mining, machine learning, and deep learning analyses; and visualize the data. We will report the study according to the recommendations for meta-epidemiological studies adapted from the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement for SRs and MAs. Discussion This meta-epidemiological study will explore, for the first time, characteristics of PROSPERO records that may be associated with the publication of a completed systematic review. The evidence may help to improve review workflow performance in terms of research topic selection, decision-making regarding team selection, planning relationships with funding sources, implementing literature search strategies, and efficient data extraction and analysis. We expect to make our results, datasets, and R and Python code scripts publicly available during the third quarter of 2018.
