102. Boride-induced phase tuning of defect-introduced MoS2 nanosheets to boost the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction.

Abstract

Transition metal dichalcogenides have garnered intense research interest owing to their promising functionalities as non-noble-metal catalysts. However, their catalytic activity and structural instability must be further improved. In this study, to improve the electrocatalytic performance of transition metal dichalcogenides, an effective soft-chemical phase tuning approach to improve electrocatalytic performance was developed by defect-assisted boride substitution of interlayer-expanded MoS2 nanosheets. The NaBH4 treatment for tetrapropylammonium-assembled MoS2 nanosheets containing a considerable number of anion vacancies was found to be effective not only in forming the coordination bonding of boride ions to defective Mo sites but also in tuning the ratio of 1T′/2H phases. The boride-substituted MoS2 nanosheets exhibited significantly improved electrocatalytic activity and durability for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) over those of boride-free MoS2 nanosheets. The improvements in electrocatalytic functionality following NaBH4 treatment are attributable to the co-stabilization of 1T′ and 2H phases, enhancement of hydrogen adsorption, and the improvement of charge transfer and HER kinetics. 114. Defect-Regulated Two-Dimensional Superlattice of Holey g-C3N4–TiO2Nanohybrids: Contrasting Influence of Vacancy Content on Hybridization Impact and Photocatalyst Performance

Abstract

Defect engineering provides an effective way to explore efficient nanostructured catalysts. Herein, we synthesize defect-regulated two-dimensional superlattices comprising interstratified holey g-C3N4and TiO2monolayers with tailorable interfacial coupling. Using this interfacial-coupling-controlled hybrid system, a strong interdependence among vacancy content, performance, and interfacial coupling was elucidated, offering key insights for the design of high-performance catalysts. The defect-optimized g-C3N4–TiO2superlattice exhibited higher photocatalytic activity toward visible-light-induced N2fixation (∼1.06 mmol g–1h–1) than defect-unoptimized and disorderly assembled g-C3N4–TiO2homologues. The high photocatalytic performance of g-C3N4–TiO2was attributed to the hybridization-induced defect creation, facilitated hydrogenation of adsorbed nitrogen, and improvement in N2adsorption and charge transport. A comparison of the defect-dependent photocatalytic activity of g-C3N4, g-C3N4nanosheets, and g-C3N4–TiO2revealed the presence of optimal defect content for improving photocatalytic performance and the continuous increase of hybridization impact with the defect content. Sophisticated mutual influence among defect, electronic coupling, and photocatalytic ability underscores the importance of defect fine control in exploring high-performance hybrid photocatalysts. Along with the DFT calculation, the excellent photocatalyst performance of defect-optimized g-C3N4–TiO2can be ascribed to the promotion of the uphill *N hydrogenation step as well as to enhancement of N2adsorption, charge transfer kinetics, and mass transports.

Abstract

Mechanical force loading is essential for maintaining bone homeostasis, and unloading exposure can lead to bone loss. Osteoclasts are the only bone resorbing cells and play a crucial role in bone remodeling. The molecular mechanisms underlying mechanical stimulation-induced changes in osteoclast function remain to be fully elucidated. Our previous research found Ca2+-activated Cl− channel Anoctamin 1 (Ano1) was an essential regulator for osteoclast function. Here, we report that Ano1 mediates osteoclast responses to mechanical stimulation. In vitro, osteoclast activities are obviously affected by mechanical stress, which is accompanied by the changes of Ano1 levels, intracellular Cl− concentration and Ca2+ downstream signaling. Ano1 knockout or calcium binding mutants blunts the response of osteoclast to mechanical stimulation. In vivo, Ano1 knockout in osteoclast blunts loading induced osteoclast inhibition and unloading induced bone loss and. These results demonstrate that Ano1 plays an important role in mechanical stimulation induced osteoclast activity changes. An essential role of the Ca2+-activated Cl− channel, Anoctamin 1, is identified in mediating the response of osteoclasts to mechanical stimulation. Ano1 knockout in osteoclasts inhibits unloading- induced osteoclast activation and unloading-induced bone loss. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

135. Improving the Storage Quality of Shiitake Mushroom by Intense Pulsed Light Pretreatment Combined with Humidity-controlled Drying.

Abstract

The effects of intense pulsed light (IPL) pretreatment combined with humidity-controlled drying on storage quality of shiitake mushroom were evaluated. The results showed that IPL pretreatment could reduce the respiration rate of fresh and dried shiitake mushroom, by 76.69% and 84.65%, respectively, and improved the retention rate of reducing sugar during storage. The polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activities of the fresh and dried shiitake mushrooms during storage were 1.73 times and 1.39 times that of the IPL-pretreated samples, respectively, and the enzymatic browning reaction was inhibited, thereby increasing the retention rate of total phenols. IPL treatment was found to improve the quality, polysaccharide retention rate, and antioxidant capacity of fresh and dried shiitake mushroom during storage and delayed softening. IPL treatment also reduced the total bacterial count of fresh shiitake mushroom (from 6.43~8.02 to 3.29~4.66 log CFU/g) but had little effect on the total bacterial count of dried shiitake mushroom. IPL treatment improved the storage quality of shiitake mushrooms to a greater degree than did blanching treatment. Therefore, IPL treatment can be used as a stable pretreatment method for the drying and preservation of shiitake mushrooms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We hunted and identified prognostic variables associated with recurrence-free survival (RFS) for renal cancer patients.Patients and Methods: In this retrospective study, 187 renal cancer patients who had received curative radical/partial nephrectomy between November 2011 and January 2017 were enrolled in the current study. These patients were randomly split into the training (n = 95) and validation sets (n = 92) by the ratio of 1:1. Univariate and multivariable Cox regression analyses were used to establish the nomogram, which was then evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and Kaplan-Meier (K-M) analyses.Results: Patient characteristics and outcomes were well balanced between the training and validation sets; the median RFS values were 54.1 months and 58.9 months for the training and validation cohorts, respectively. The final nomogram included six independent prognostic variables (prothrombin time (%), prothrombin time (second), albumin/globulin ratio, platelets, sex and fibrinogen). The mean values of RFS for the low- and high-risk groups defined by a prognostic formula were 56.22 ± 18.50 months and 49.54 ± 23.57 months, respectively, in the training cohort and were 59.00 ± 19.50 months and 53.32 ± 19.95 months, respectively, in the validation cohort. The significance and stability of the model were tested by the time-dependent K-M model and ROC curves, respectively.Conclusion: Our validated prognostic model incorporates variables routinely collected from renal cancer patients, identifying subsets of patients with different survival outcomes, which provides useful information for patient care and clinical trial design.Keywords: renal cancer, recurrence, nomogram

Peribahasa berkaitan dengan budaya dan bahasa suatu bangsa. Peribahasa Indonesia berjumlah banyak, di antaranya yang mengandung unsur makanan dan cita rasanya. Makanan merupakan kebutuhan pokok, cermin budaya, dan tradisi bangsa. Peribahasa Indonesia mengandung nilai karakter yang sesuai dengan profil pelajar Pancasila, yaitu beriman, bertakwa kepada Tuhan YME, berakhlak mulia, berkebinekaan global, bergotong royong, mandiri, bernalar kritis, dan kreatif. Artikel ini difokuskan pada (1) analisis jumlah peribahasa Indonesia yang mengandung unsur makanan, jenis makanan, dan cita rasanya; (2) analisis nilai karakter dalam peribahasa Indonesia yang berunsur makanan dan cita rasanya yang sesuai dengan profil pelajar Pancasila. Penelitian ini mengombinasikan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat 388 peribahasa yang mengandung unsur makanan dan cita rasanya; (2) diketemukan peribahasa yang sesuai dengan nilai karakter dalam profil pelajar Pancasila, kecuali nilai karakter berakhlak mulia terhadap alam.
