109. Research on load bearing performance recovery method of a RC simply-supported beam bridge

Abstract

The load-bearing performance of a RC simply supported beam bridge was comprehensively detected and evaluated. The appearance detection results show that there is a large area of damaged and exposed reinforcement in the main girder and diaphragm plate of the bridge. The detecting results of material condition and state parameters show that the durability of the bridge is insufficient, the risk of steel corrosion is large, and the strength condition of concrete material is poor. The load test results show that the bearing capacity of the bridge does not meet the requirements. In view of the current situation of the bridge, a comprehensive reinforcement treatment scheme was proposed, in which modified epoxy mortar is used to repair the main beam and diaphragm of the whole bridge, steel plate is pasted to reinforce the main beam of the whole bridge, and anticorrosive coating is applied on the main beam and diaphragm.

Abstract

In the post epidemic era, mass entrepreneurship and innovation have become an important driving force to promote the domestic economic cycle and the domestic and international double cycle. Lattice shop has the characteristics of novelty, convenience and low threshold, which can better adapt to the new retail formats, and then build an entrepreneurial service platform. Through the analysis of macroeconomic background, taking Qingdao as an example, this paper investigates the market environment through marketing channels, market characteristics and economic scale, sums up the main factors for the construction of lattice shop location, and provides practical suggestions for the construction of lattice shop platform in this region, so as to promote the industrial innovation and development of lattice shop business model in the local market.

112. SDN: Semantic Decoupling Network for Temporal Language Grounding

Abstract

Temporal language grounding (TLG) is one of the most challenging cross-modal video understanding tasks, which aims at retrieving the most relevant video segment from an untrimmed video according to a natural language sentence. The existing methods can be separated into two dominant types: 1) proposal-based and 2) proposal-free methods, where the former conduct contextual interactions and the latter localizes timestamps flexibly. However, the constant-scale candidates in proposal-based methods limit the localization precision and bring extra computational costs. In contrast, the proposal-free methods perform well on high-precision metrics-based on the fine-grained features but suffer from a lack of coarse-grained interactions, which cause degeneration when the video becomes complex. In this article, we propose a novel framework termed semantic decoupling network (SDN) that combines the advantages of proposal-based and proposal-free methods and overcomes their defects. It contains three key components: 1) semantic decoupling module (SDM); 2) context modeling block (CMB); and 3) semantic cross-level aggregation module (SCAM). By capturing the video-text contexts in multilevel semantics, the SDM and CMB effectively utilize the benefits of proposal-based methods. Meanwhile, the SCAM maintains the merit of proposal-free methods in that it localizes timestamps precisely. The experiments on three challenge datasets, i.e., Charades-STA, TACoS, and ActivityNet-Caption, show that our proposed SDN method significantly outperforms recent state-of-the-art methods, especially the proposal-free methods. 113. A Multimodal Haptic Rendering System Combining Force and Vibrotactile Feedback

Abstract

We present a multimodal haptic rendering system that integrates normal force feedback via an airbag and vibration feedback through a piezoelectric vibrator, simulating the hardness and roughness of samples. For hardness rendering, the system utilizes local stiffness (LS) as a critical control parameter of the airbag to enhance user perception of sample hardness during compression. For roughness rendering, we introduce a texture mapping method that extracts roughness from texture images based on Tamura coarseness and maps it to the frequency of the piezoelectric vibrator’s drive voltage, enabling the perception of roughness during horizontal interactions with the sample. User studies are conducted to evaluate the system. Results indicate that the LS effectively mirrors the sample’s transient stiffness, significantly enhancing hardness perception. This multimodal approach demonstrably exceeds single-modal systems in replicating realistic sensory experiences. Moreover, our findings reveal that vibrational stimuli also influence the perception of hardness.

Abstract

Castration of male animals is a common practice in the meat industry aimed at reducing aggressive behavior, preventing unpleasant flavor, and controlling undesirable breeding. For many years, mechanical castration and surgical castration have been practiced to sterilize the animals. However, these castration methods are not humane because of the associated risk of death, pain, and stress. Recently, immunocastration targeting the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis (HPG) axis has been reported as an animal-friendly approach that circumvents many of the concerns with conventional castration, and suggested by researches as an alternative to surgical castration. However, there is no compilation of updated information on the use of immunocastration in sheep and goats. Therefore, this review aims to summarize the developmental process from traditional surgical castration to immunocastration and to screen the process of immune targets. It also compares the respective advantages and disadvantages of traditional castration technologies and immunocastration, in particular including analyses in the characteristics, features application and welfare benefits of immunocastration in sheep and goats were also analyzed.

Abstract

A streamlined Multi-Disciplinary Analysis and Optimization (MDAO) process is being developed to provide feedback on conceptual designs and early airspace modeling assessments of unconventional aircraft. This MDAO process has been demonstrated using a Low-Boom Flight Demonstrator (LBFD) like configuration by performing a trade study of various flap sizes. The results of this trade showed that shorter takeoff distances are achieved with increased flap chord and flap deflections. This trend is unlike conventional transport type aircraft which typically show increased required takeoff distances due to the increased drag during its take-off flap configurations. The LBFD like configuration results are attributed to its high engine thrust which overcomes the higher drag associated with these takeoff flap configurations.

Abstract

Pulmonary hemorrhage (PH) is a rare acute catastrophic event with high mortality among neonates, especially preterm infants. Primary treatments included pulmonary surfactant, high-frequency oscillatory ventilation, epinephrine, coagulopathy management, and intermittent positive pressure ventilation. However, there are still challenges in diagnosing and treating refractory or focal pulmonary hemorrhages. Ultra-slim bronchoscopy has been widely used in the field of critically ill children and is increasingly being done in neonates with critical respiratory disease in recent years. In this study, we report a case with refractory pulmonary hemorrhage in premature infants, which was finally diagnosed as localized hemorrhage in the upper left lobe and cured by ultra-slim bronchoscopy-guided topical hemostatic drug administration. Bronchoscopy is an optional, safe, and practicable technique for early diagnosis and direct injection therapy of neonatal PH in managing life-threatening PH.

Abstract

Relaxor ferroelectric polymer P(VDF-TrFE-CTFE) is attracting increasing attention for electronic applications due to its high dielectric constant and relaxation characteristic. However, the low breakdown strength and premature saturation of polarization of this polymer have hampered its practical application severely. In this work, carbon quantum dots (CQDs) with functional groups and size of about 5 nm have been incorporated to overcome these issues. The nanocomposite with 0.1 wt% CQDs presents significantly improved breakdown strength and discharge energy density. Its breakdown strength (Eb) has been increased by 30.7% up to 340 kV mm−1. Due to the Coulomb blockade effect, the electrons can be restrained in the deep traps, which is favorable for the improvement of breakdown strength. Besides, the abundant functional groups around CQDs are beneficial to form adequate hydrogen bonds, resulting in increased crystallinity and breakdown strength as well. Additionally, the discharge energy density has been improved by 41.7% up to 6.8 J cm−3. The study demonstrates the effective enhancement of breakdown strength and energy density by ultralow loading of CQDs for P(VDF-TrFE-CTFE) polymer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

143. A Compact Ka-Band Low-Sidelobe Monopulse Antenna Array Based on Mixed Gap Waveguide and Hollow Waveguide Multilayer Feeding Network

Abstract

In this article, a compact low-sidelobe 2-D monopulse antenna array has been proposed based on mixed gap waveguide (GWG)/hollow waveguide (HW) multilayer feeding network and a GWG monopulse comparator. The proposed antenna array is arranged and divided into multilayers based on the function for miniaturization and low losses. First, slot antenna elements, unequal power divider based on the GWG, and layers transition between different ridge GWGs are proposed. Then, monopulse comparator composed by groove GWG 3 dB 90° coupler and 90° phase shifter is proposed according to the network diagram for forming $\sum $ , $\Delta _{\text {E}}$ , $\Delta _{\text {H}}$ beams. By vertically integrating the above functional elements, the compact low-sidelobe 2-D monopulse antenna array is obtained. The measurement results show its impedance fractional bandwidth (FBW) is 12.6%, antenna gain is greater than 29 dBi, and the efficiency is 35%. Moreover, the levels of the sidelobe and null depth are about −25 and −35 dB, respectively.
