Abstract: Candesartan cilexetil is belonged to the angiotesin-II receptor antagonist. The drug has more than 30 polymorphic forms and 15 known impurities. X-ray diffraction studies could be used for characterizing the polymorph, whilst for identification of the impurities, NMR and MS methods were used. Abstract

A simple and rapid densitometric method has been developed for determination of pyrathiazine theoclate and pyridoxine HCl in commercial tablets. After extracting the samples four times with ethanol, the solutions were spotted on pre-coated silica gel TLC plates, which were eluted with a mixture of dichloromethane-methanol-acetone-acetic acid (19.5:6.0:3.0:1.5, v/v). Quantitative evaluation was performed by measuring the absorbance reflectance of the analyte spots at λ = 254 nm. The TLC-densitometric method is cheap, selective, precise, and accurate and can be used for routine analysis of pyrathiazine theoclate and pyridoxine HCl in tablet preparations at industry quality control laboratories. Abstract

A simple, rapid, and validated HPLC method has been developed for simultaneous determination of levamisole hydrochloride and anhydrous niclosamide. A Luna® C-18 column was used with a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile-buffer solutions (2:8, v/v). Quantitative evaluation was performed at 240 nm. Abstract

Cell suspension cultures of Agave amaniensis and Costus speciosus were grown in media containing Cd2 + up to 25 and 20 mg l-1, respectively, and Pb2+ up to 40 mg l-1. The cultures hyper-accumulated Cd2+ up to 900 and 530 μg g-1 and Pb2+ up to 1390 and 1170 μg g-1 dry wt. in their respective biomasses. Increasing Pb2+ up to 30 mg l-1 increased the biomass production and total sitosterol content of Costus speciosus by up to 1.7- and 1.3-fold, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
