103. New Prenylated Quinones from Peperomia galioides

Abstract

Two new prenylated quinones, piperogalone (1) and galopiperone (2), and a new prenylated dihydroquinone, hydropiperone (3), were isolated from Peperomia galioides H.B.K (Piperaceae). Hydropiperone exhibited potent antiparasitic activity against three species of Leishmania.

Abstract

Des feuilles de #Guatteria ouregou$, Annonacée guyanaise, ont été isolés 22 alcaloïdes aporphiniques, dont 6 nouveaux, et appartiennent à des types structuraux originaux. Les résultats mettent en évidence une grande différence dans la composition en alcaloïdes entre les différents organes de la plante, dont la signification chimiotaxonomique est ici discutée. A single biomimetic cascade sequence featuring intermolecular followed by intramolecular cyclizations allowed the biomimetic synthesis of nitraramine from simple C5-lysine-derived metabolites. In the course of the study, the structure of epinitraramine was also revisited.

120. Chamuvarinin, an Acetogenin Bearing a Tetrahydropyran Ring from the Roots of Uvaria chamae<SUP>1</SUP>

Abstract

A new cytotoxic acetogenin, chamuvarinin (1), containing a tetrahydropyran ring with an adjacent bis-tetrahydrofuran ring, which corresponds to a novel carbon skeleton in this series, was isolated from the roots of Uvaria chamae, together with the previously reported acetogenins squamocin (2), desacetyluvaricin (3), and neoannonin (4). The structure determination of chamuvarinin (1) was based on extensive NMR studies and high-resolution mass spectral measurements. This new compound shows significant cytotoxicity toward the KB 3-1 cell line (IC50 = 8 × 10-10 M). In addition, a biosynthetic relationship between 1 and 2 is briefly discussed.

121. Acaricidal Activity of Tonka Bean Extracts. Synthesis and Structure−Activity Relationships of Bioactive Derivatives

Abstract

The acaricidal effects of tonka bean, Dipterix odorata, extracts were investigated on Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, the European house dust mite, and compared with benzyl benzoate as a standard acaricidal compound. A cyclohexane extract was the most effective, with an EC50 = 0.075 g/m2 after a 24 h period, as compared with benzyl benzoate (0.025 g/m2). Bioassay-guided fractionation of this extract led to the isolation of coumarin (1). Pharmacomodulation of this compound led us to test 20 analogues (2−21), which were either synthesized or purchased.

147. Diepoxyrollin and Diepomuricanin B:  Two New Diepoxyacetogenins from Rollinia membranacea Seeds

Abstract

Diepoxyrollin (1) and diepomuricanin B (2), two new Annonaceous acetogenins were isolated from the cytotoxic MeOH extract of the seeds of Colombian Rollinia membranacea. Five others known acetogenins were also isolated, dieporeticanin 1, dieporeticanin 2, diepomuricanin A, rollinone, and sylvaticin. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral data. Compounds 1 and 2 belong to the rare type of diepoxyacetogenins, which are probably precursors of the mono-tetrahydrofuran acetogenins.
