The authors describe the growth in use of the physiotherapy evidence database (PEDro). It was shown that the number of records on the bibliographic database had doubled every 3.5 years, and now indexes reports of over 18,000 randomised trials and 3,500 systematic reviews. The usability of the database scale improved through translations and psychometric validation. The authors also describe the number of systemic reviews indexed on the Cochrane Library that searched PEDro for eligible trials.

A response by M. Wallen et al to a letter to the editor about their article "Modified Constraint-Induced Therapy for Children With Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy: A Randomized Trial" in a 2011 issue is presented.

This article discusses the editorial policy regarding the publication of randomized controlled trials in the "Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia" magazine. It requires clinical trial authors to register their trials before publication. The journal also requires authors to endorse the recommendations from the Consolidated Standards Reporting Trials statement.

A letter to the editor is presented in response to the article "Motor Control Exercise for Chronic Low Back Pain: A Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trial," by L. O. P. Costa, C. G. Maher and J. Latimer in a previous issue.

The article discusses research on the prognosis for an inception cohort of patients with chronic low back pain. The study population was a subcohort of an inception cohort of 973 consecutive patients with acute low back pain from primary care clinics in Sydney, New South Wales. Variables measured after nine to 12 months follow-up include pain intensity, pain related disability and work status based on the Kaplan-Meier survival probability estimates. Presented in detail are the 25 centile survival times and generalisability to other populations.
