Abstract

Hypertension is a complex disease that partially influenced by genetic factors. Up till now, the association between the rs651821 in apolipoprotein A5 (APOA5) gene and hypertension remains unknown. This study was undertaken to investigate the relationship between the APOA5 rs651821 and hypertension in Tongdao Dong population. A total of 274 participants were involved in this study (135 hypertensive patients and 139 nonhypertensive adults). The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) was genotyped by using polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The results showed that the genotypic and allelic frequencies of rs651821 were significantly different between the normotensives and hypertensive subjects (P = 0.009, P = 0.003 respectively). TC/CC genotypes of rs651821 were associated with an elevated risk of hypertension (TC/CC vs. TT: adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 1.791, 95%CI = 1.067–3.006, P = 0.009). Besides, the TC/CC genotypes were related to an increased plasma triglyceride (TG) level (TC/CC vs. TT: 2.47 ± 1.91 vs. 1.82 ± 1.07, P = 0.001).The results suggest that the C carriers of APOA5 rs651821 are associated with an increased serum TG concentration and may cause the increased susceptibility of the individual to hypertension in Chinese Dong population. Abstract

The X-linked hyperimmunoglobulin M syndrome (HIGM), caused by mutations in the CD40LG gene, is a kind of primary immunodeficiency disease (PID). Patients with X-linked HIGM are susceptible to infection as well as autoimmune diseases. Lipoma arborescens (LA) is a rare benign tumor, of which the pathogenesis mechanism has not been clearly understood. We report a case of HIGM combined with LA in a 22-year-old male patient. A new deletion mutation of CD40LG gene was detected in this case. The possible relationship between HIGM and LA was also discussed.

130. Distinct impacts of bi‐allelic WNT10A mutations on the permanent and primary dentitions in odonto‐onycho‐dermal dysplasia.

Abstract

Odonto‐onycho‐dermal dysplasia (OODD) is a rare autosomal recessive syndrome characterized by multiple ectodermal abnormalities. Mutations of the wingless‐type MMTV integration site family member 10A (WNT10A) gene have been associated with OODD. To date, only 11 OODD‐associated WNT10A mutations have been reported. In this report, we Characterized the clinical manifestations with focusing on dental phenotypes in four unrelated OODD patients. By Sanger sequencing, we identified five novel mutations in the WNT10A gene, including two homozygous nonsense mutations c.1176C>A (p.Cys392*) and c.742C>T (p.Arg248*), one homozygous frame‐shift mutation c.898‐899delAT (p.Ile300Profs*126), and a compound heterozygous mutation c.826T>A (p.Cys276Ser) and c.949delG (p.Ala317Hisfs*121). Our findings confirmed that bi‐allelic mutations of WNT10A were responsible for OODD and greatly expanded the mutation spectrum of OODD. For the first time, we demonstrated that bi‐allelic WNT10A mutations could lead to anodontia of permanent teeth, which enhanced the phenotypic spectrum of WNT10A mutations. Interestingly, we found that bi‐allelic mutations in the WNT10A gene preferentially affect the permanent dentition rather the primary dentition, suggesting that the molecular mechanisms regulated by WNT10A in the development of permanent teeth and deciduous teeth might be different. Abstract

This article examines cross-channel promotion effects in an online-offline multi-channel grocery context, and focuses on cross-channel immediate promotion effects on category purchase decisions, as well as cross-channel delayed effects on consumers’ promotion sensitivity. The results show that (i) category promotions in one channel can have an immediate negative effect on category purchase decisions in the other channel, (ii) they can also have a longer-term negative effect on promotion sensitivity in the other channel, but only to a limited extent, and (iii) these negative cross-channel immediate and delayed effects are more pronounced in segments with more loyal multi-channel customers of the chain. ispartof: FEB Research Report MO_1402 nrpages: 46 status: published

Abstract

The topological structure of shipboard power system is one of the key factors affecting the compositive performance. An adjacent matrix based minimal cut sets method is adopted in this paper to build a universal algorithm of reliability evaluation of shipboard power systems. Basing on this reliability assessment platform, qualitative analysis and quantitative calculation of different shipboard topological configurations of radial, ring and zonal are experienced using a sample system data. Result shows that the reliability level of zonal shipboard power network is better than others and it's representational structure of future shipboard power tide.

138. Upper tract urinary cytology to detect upper tract urothelial carcinoma: Using the Johns Hopkins Hospital template and evaluation of its feasibility

Abstract

Introduction: Primary upper urinary tract (UT) urothelial carcinoma (UC) is rare. UT washing cytology is often used during UT surveillance. The Johns Hopkins Hospital template (JHHT) is primarily designed to use on lower tract urine cytology and the data on applying JHHT on UT cytology is limited. We herein study the value of UT cytology in detecting UTUC using JHHT in a cohort. Materials and Methods : One hundred UT cytologic specimens were retrieved from our database during a 10-year period (2001-2011). For each patient, the cytology specimen with the highest degree of abnormality was selected. Histologic sections of these cases were also studied. Results: Seventy-six cases of UT cytology had histologic follow-up by either serial (>2) endoscopic biopsies or nephroureterectomy or ureterectomy. Among them, the cytologic diagnosis of positive or suspicious for high-grade UC (HGUC) was made in 15 cases; suspicious for low-grade UC (LGUC) in 3 cases; atypical urothelial cells (AUCs) of undetermined significance in 19 cases; and negative in 39 cases. Of the 15 cases with diagnosis of positive for HGUC or AUC-HGUC (AUC-H), 10 had histologically confirmed HGUC, 1 had LGUC, and 4 had benign histology. All 3 cases of cytologically suspicious for LGUC had LGUC on concomitant histology. Among the 19 washings with AUCs with unknown significance, 7 were LGUC, 1 was HGUC, and 11 were benign on histology. Six of 39 cases with negative cytology had UC (3 low-grade and 3 high-grade) on histology. Combining positive and AUC-H for UC diagnoses, sensitivity, and specificity for detecting HGUC were 71.4% and 91.9%, while for LGUC were 21.4% and 100%, respectively. Conclusions: UT washing cytology has high specificity for detecting UC, especially HGUC. Using JHHT on UT washing cytology is feasible, but the category of LGUC may need modification.
