Abstract

This paper introduces a novel technique called "Forged Channel," which aims to comprehensively represent EEG signals in order to achieve accurate classification of Parkinson's disease. The forged channel method prepares EEG signals in a manner that allows a deep learning model to effectively perceive all EEG channels within a single input. By employing this approach alongside a convolutional neural network, an impressive accuracy of 90.32% was achieved using leave-one-subject-out cross-validation. Abstract

Use of hot atomic vapor as a new tool for tracing the complex nature of light has become a knowledge-based topic in recent years. In this paper, we examine the polarization ellipse of the Bloch surface wave (BSW) through the effect of a magnetic field on the coupling of these surface waves in BSW-hot atomic vapor cell. For this purpose, we fabricate a one-dimensional photonic crystal-based Bloch wave atom cell, where under different configurations of magnetic field, polarization ellipse of Bloch surface waves has been recorded experimentally. Our results indicate that by applying the magnetic field in different directions, Faraday and Voigt, the characteristics of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT-like) of hybrid system change. We have used these changes to redefine the geometry of Voigt and Faraday for evanescent waves, as well as to measure the ratio of the components of the elliptical polarized electric field. These characterizations can open new insight into the miniaturized atomic field in high quality and low volumetric areas.

Abstract

The preparation and characterization of macro alginate beads are always associated with appropriate techniques involving precise measurement of shape, size, volume and density of the products. Depending on the type of application, encapsulation of macro alginate beads can be accomplished by various techniques including chemical, ionotropic, physical and mechanical methods. This work describes a method for preparing macro alginate beads through drop weight. The macro beads (2.85–3.85 mm) were prepared via different concentrations of alginate (0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 g/L), dripping tip size (0.04–0.14 cm) and immersion into a predetermined concentration of calcium chloride (CaCl2) bath. A custom made dripping vessel fabricated from acrylic plastic, connected to an adjustable dripping clamp was used to simulate the dripping process of the molten alginate at different tip sizes. It was observed that at different dripping tips, the correction factor for the alginate slurry was found in the range of 0.73–0.83. Meanwhile, the lost factor, KLF was observed at 0.93–2.3 and the shrinkage factors were limited to 2.00% from the overall distributed data. It was concluded that liquid properties had no effect on the liquid lost factor. The bead size prediction for different concentrations of alginate solution was compared to the experimental data. Subsequently, it was concluded that increasing the tip size caused the bead size to deviate almost 20% when compared to the experimental and predicted values, respectively.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the studies on the Remedial Education Program in Primary Schools using meta-thematic analysis. In this research, qualitative research papers containing the opinions of participants about the Remedial Education Program in Primary Schools (REPPS) were examined by reviewing using Google Scholar and TR Dizin databases. In our research, research papers were determined by making a search using the keywords "Remedial Education Program in Primary Schools" and "REPPS." As a result of the review, 12 articles published as full text, using the qualitative research model and containing participant views, were included in the research. Five themes were developed as a result of this research.

136. Frequency-aware Learned Image Compression for Quality Scalability

Abstract

Spatial frequency analysis and transforms serve a central role in most engineered image and video lossy codecs, but are rarely employed in neural network (NN)-based approaches. We propose a novel NN-based image coding framework that utilizes forward wavelet transforms to decompose the input signal by spatial frequency. Our encoder generates separate bitstreams for each latent representation of low and high frequencies. This enables our decoder to selectively decode bitstreams in a quality-scalable manner. Hence, the decoder can produce an enhanced image by using an enhancement bitstream in addition to the base bitstream. Furthermore, our method is able to enhance only a specific region of interest (ROI) by using a corresponding part of the enhancement latent representation. Our experiments demonstrate that the proposed method shows competitive rate-distortion performance compared to several non-scalable image codecs. We also showcase the effectiveness of our two-level quality scalability, as well as its practicality in ROI quality enhancement., Comment: Presented at VCIP'22

Abstract

A study was conducted to treat stabilized leachate by applying polyaluminium chloride (PAC) and tobacco leaf extract as a coagulant and coagulant aid. Experimental results indicated that the tobacco leaves were positively charged. The removal rate of the chemical oxygen demand, using 1500 mg/L PAC as a sole coagulant, was approximately 63% and increased to 91% when 1000 mg/L PAC was mixed with 1000 mg/L tobacco leaf. Additionally, 1500 mg/L PAC with 250 - 1000 mg/L tobacco leaf and 54% ammoniacal nitrogen was removed, compared with only 46% reduction using 1500 mg/L with only 46% reduction.
