The main objective of the research described here was to learn how young learners self-evaluate their digital competence. A non-experimental and descriptive quantitative methodology was employed, an electronic survey being used to collect the data. Among the main results, we can highlight that these learners self-evaluate their attitude towards Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as favourable, their handling of them as moderate and their knowledge of them as scarce. It became clear that they do not have a level of digital competence suitable for being called 'digital natives', nor sufficient ability to use ICT in their academic life or in their professional future.

Introduction: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a lethal cancer with a poor survival outcome. Predicting patient survival allows physicians to tailor treatments to specific individuals. Thus, a simple and cost-effective prognosis model is sorely needed. Methods: This retrospective study assesses the prognostic value of blood biomarkers in advanced and metastatic PDAC patients (n=96) from Spain. Cut-off points for hematological parameters were calculated and correlated with overall survival (OS) using Kaplan-Meier, log-rank test, robust Cox proportional hazards and logistic regressions. Results: In univariate analysis, individuals with low levels of GGT, LDH, ALP, leukocyte-, neutrophil- and monocyte counts showed significantly longer survival than patients with higher levels. In multivariate analysis, lower levels of GGT (HR (95%CI), 2.734 (1.223-6.111); p=0.014), LDH (HR (95%CI), 1.876 (1.035-3.400); p=0.038) and monocyte count (HR (95%CI), 1.657 (1.095-2.506); p = 0.017) remained significantly beneficial. In consequence, we propose a prognostic model based on logistic regression (AUC=0.741) of these three biomarkers as a pioneer tool to estimate OS in PDAC. Conclusion: This study has demonstrated that the joint use of GGT (<92.00), LDH (<220.00) and monocyte count (<800) are independent positive prognostic factors in PDAC that can predict one-year survival in a novel prognostic logistic model. Mental pathology and violence have been studied by the scientific community, a topic that is sometimes perceived as controversial, partly due to the prevailing stigma around psychiatric disorders. In this project, all those factors concomitant with psychotic pathologies and 'Cluster B' antisocial disorders, which could interfere with the commission of violent actions, and their maximum expression, the homicide, are addressed from a comprehensive psychological perspective. To this end, a rigorous methodological selection of 15 high‐impact articles has been carried out, from which the results have been extracted and compared in this systematic review. The findings obtained revolve around the importance of adherence to treatment, the therapeutic alliance, the absence of toxic consumption, and concomitance with other mental pathologies, taking into account the idiosyncratic differences of the subjects, as well as between the pathologies and diagnoses described, always maintaining the comparison between said disorders, and with the population in absence of pathology. AbstractThe issue of safety in respect of using technology in education is an issue that deserves particular attention. This research uses a quantitative methodology to explore whether the use made by children of video games, social media, and smartphones in their free time influences the development of digital competence as regards safety. This study was conducted based on a sample of 800 compulsory education phase Spanish students. The results show a relatively low competence level, suggesting the need for digital education as part of the school curriculum so that students can make safe use of digital technologies. According to the findings, while students enjoy playing video games and using certain social media, mainly through smartphones, they are not digitally competent. The results reported for the assessment of digital competence in the safety area are within the basic level and, in general, boys have a higher level of competence than girls, except in the protecting health and protecting the environment competences. BACKGROUND: The steady world population growth and the current climate emergency crisis demand the development of sustainable methods to increase crop performance and resilience to the abiotic and biotic stresses produced by global warming. Microalgal extracts are being established as sustainable sources to produce compounds that improve agricultural yield, concurrently contributing during their production process to atmospheric CO2 abatement through the photosynthetic activity of microalgae. RESULTS: In the present study, we characterize the transcriptomic response in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and the plant of horticultural interest Solanum lycopersicum to the foliar application of a microalgae‐based commercial preparation LRM™ (AlgaEnergy, Madrid, Spain). The foliar spray of LRM™ has a substantial effect over both transcriptomes potentially mediated by various compounds within LRM™, including its phytohormone content, activating systemic acquired resistance, possibly mediated by salicylic acid biosynthetic processes, and drought/heat acclimatization, induced by stomatal control and wax accumulation during cuticle development. Specifically, the agronomic improvements observed in treated S. lycopersicum (tomato) plants include an increase in the number of fruits, an acceleration in flowering time and the provision of higher drought resistance. The effect of LRM™ foliar spray in juvenile and adult plants was similar, producing a fast response detectable 2 h from its application that was also maintained 24 h later. CONCLUSION: The present study improves our knowledge on the transcriptomic effect of a novel microalgal extract on crops and provides the first step towards a full understanding of the yield and resistance improvement of crops. © 2024 The Authors. Given the potential applications of generative AI (GenAI) in education and its rising interest in research, this systematic review mapped the thematic landscape of 407 publications indexed in the Web of Science, ScienceDirect and Scopus. Using EPPI Reviewer, publication type, educational level, disciplines, research areas and applications of GenAI were extracted. Eight discursive themes were identified, predominantly focused on 'application, impact and potential', 'ethical implication and risks', 'perspectives and experiences', 'institutional and individual adoption', and 'performance and intelligence'. GenAI was conceptualised as a tool for 'pedagogical enhancement', 'specialised training and practices', 'writing assistance and productivity', 'professional skills and development', and as an 'interdisciplinary learning tool'. Key gaps highlighted include a paucity of research and discussions on GenAI in K‐12 education; a limited exploration of GenAI's impact using experimental procedures; and a limited exploration of the potential and ethical concerns of GenAI from the lens of cultural dimensions.
