101. Pilot Evaluation of Field Pea Accessions Under Water Deficit Conditions

Abstract: Field pea, a key pulse crop for sustainable agriculture, faces significant production challenges due to drought, exacerbated by extreme climatic changes. This study evaluated 17 field pea plant introductions (PIs) and two commercial varieties under greenhouse conditions to assess their performance, determine the relationships between agronomic traits and grain yield (GY), and identify genotypes with stable yields under drought stress. Two water treatments were applied: 100% field capacity for well-watered (WW) and 60% field capacity for water deficit (WD) conditions, with drought stress imposed 21 days after planting. Significant genotypic variation was observed under both conditions. Water deficit significantly reduced GY, the number of pods per plant (NPP), plant height (PH), aboveground dry vegetative biomass (ADVB), and days to maturity (DTM) while increasing stomatal density on both adaxial (SD.ADX) and abaxial leaf surfaces (SD.ABX). Traits associated with GY in WW, such as NPP, PH, ADVB, and SD.ADX, showed stronger correlations under WD, with DTM being significantly associated with GY only in WD. Top-performing genotypes in both conditions exhibited higher pod numbers, increased aboveground dry vegetative biomass, late maturity, and lower adaxial stomatal density. Notably, PI 272215 was identified as a top performer under both conditions, with an 88% yield stability index. PI 180702 demonstrated comparable performance to PI 272215 but with no yield loss under the same conditions. These findings can be used for future field pea breeding programs aimed at developing drought-tolerant field pea varieties.

Abstract: Acute appendicitis and adnexal torsion are leading causes of acute surgical abdomen in female patients. However, the simultaneous occurrence of these 2 conditions is extremely rare. Here, we present an extraordinary case of a woman radiologically diagnosed with ovarian dermoid torsion coexisting with acute appendicitis. The patient was managed operatively by surgeons from the respective fields in a single setting, thereby meeting the patient's standard of care. This case provides valuable insight into the possible coexistence of acute adnexal pathology with acute bowel pathology and vice versa, emphasizing that radiologists should avoid satisfaction of search after a single possible explanation of the condition.

Abstract: Cysticercosis, a major health issue in developing countries, is caused by the larval stage of Taenia solium. Disseminated cysticercosis (DCC), which is characterized by widespread cysticerci in various tissues, is rare and often asymptomatic. Here, we report the case of a 50-year-old man from rural Nepal with distal cholangiocarcinoma and DCC involving the skin, brain, orbit, tongue, soft palate, heart, and abdominal organs. Despite the presence of abdominal pain, obstructive jaundice, anemia, and significant weight loss—symptoms indicative of biliary malignancy—there were no symptoms typical of DCC. Diagnostic imaging confirmed DCC and stomach-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy was performed. Histopathological examination of the periampullary mass revealed distal cholangiocarcinoma. Postsurgical treatment for DCC included steroids, carbamazepine, and antiparasitic therapy with albendazole. The coexistence of cysticercosis and neoplasia, though uncommon, necessitates thorough diagnostic evaluation. This case underscores the clinical complexity and highlights the need for comprehensive management of concurrent conditions.

Abstract: The diagnosis of adult Hirschsprung disease (HD) is rare, furthermore there are only 3 or 4 cases of adult ultrashort segment HD (USHD) reported previously in English literature to our knowledge. Herein, we present a case of a 22-year-old female presented with long standing history of constipation and abdominal distension secondary to USHD. Imaging modalities included plain abdominal X-ray, ultrasound (USG) and computed tomography (CT) scan which collectively aided in establishing the diagnosis. Through this case report, we aim to emphasize that HD should be suspected in every adult population with chronic constipation. Also, it highlights the role of CT scan as how it should be the preferred diagnostic tool for suspected adult HD, as, not only it helps correctly identify the transition zone but rule out other possible causes of chronic obstruction.

105. Agricultural trade deficit and its impact on Nepalese economy: A comprehensive review

Abstract: International trade is essential for a country’s economic development and modernization, driven by the dynamics of imports and exports. This review comprehensively examines Nepal’s trade deficit and its impact on the national economy. Nepal’s trade landscape is characterized by a significant imbalance, with imports consistently surpassing exports, as evidenced by an import-to-export ratio of 10.26 in the fiscal year 2022/23. This trade deficit has profound implications for national income, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, inflation rates, and foreign exchange reserves. This review identifies key factors contributing to the trade deficit, including geographical constraints, limited export diversification, heavy reliance on imports, infrastructural deficiencies, insufficient promotion and advertisement, political instability, low productivity, and dependency on remittances. This study underscores the critical need for export diversification as a strategy for mitigating trade deficits. Developing sectors with high potential such as tourism, information technology, hydropower, and organic farming are essential. Additionally, improving the quality and value addition of exported goods, expanding market access through proactive trade diplomacy, and supporting small and medium enterprises are highlighted as necessary measures. This study also emphasizes the importance of substantial investments in infrastructure, education, and skill development to enhance productivity and competitiveness. Promoting a national brand and leveraging digital marketing platforms can boost Nepal’s export profile. Sound monetary policies and a stable economic environment are crucial for addressing the adverse effects of exchange rate volatility and inflation. Political stability and a conducive business environment are vital to fostering long-term economic growth. The effective utilization of remittances through productive investments and reducing dependency on external aid are pivotal for achieving sustainable development. Through coordinated efforts across various sectors, Nepal can work towards reducing its trade deficit, enhancing economic stability, and achieving sustainable economic growth.

107. A Survey on Watching Social Issue Videos among YouTube and TikTok Users

Abstract: The openness and influence of video-sharing platforms (VSPs) such as YouTube and TikTok attracted creators to share videos on various social issues. Although social issue videos (SIVs) affect public opinions and breed misinformation, how VSP users obtain information and interact with SIVs is under-explored. This work surveyed 659 YouTube and 127 TikTok users to understand the motives for consuming SIVs on VSPs. We found that VSP users are primarily motivated by the information and entertainment gratifications to use the platform. VSP users use SIVs for information-seeking purposes and find YouTube and TikTok convenient to interact with SIVs. VSP users moderately watch SIVs for entertainment and inactively engage in social interactions. SIV consumption is associated with information and socialization gratifications of the platform. VSP users appreciate the diversity of information and opinions but would also do their own research and are concerned about the misinformation and echo chamber problems.

108. Inferring Relational Potentials in Interacting Systems

Abstract: Systems consisting of interacting agents are prevalent in the world, ranging from dynamical systems in physics to complex biological networks. To build systems which can interact robustly in the real world, it is thus important to be able to infer the precise interactions governing such systems. Existing approaches typically discover such interactions by explicitly modeling the feed-forward dynamics of the trajectories. In this work, we propose Neural Interaction Inference with Potentials (NIIP) as an alternative approach to discover such interactions that enables greater flexibility in trajectory modeling: it discovers a set of relational potentials, represented as energy functions, which when minimized reconstruct the original trajectory. NIIP assigns low energy to the subset of trajectories which respect the relational constraints observed. We illustrate that with these representations NIIP displays unique capabilities in test-time. First, it allows trajectory manipulation, such as interchanging interaction types across separately trained models, as well as trajectory forecasting. Additionally, it allows adding external hand-crafted potentials at test-time. Finally, NIIP enables the detection of out-of-distribution samples and anomalies without explicit training. Abstract: At the origin of the Universe, asymmetry between the amount of created matter and antimatter led to the matter-dominated Universe as we know today. The origins of this asymmetry remain not completely understood yet. High-energy nuclear collisions create conditions similar to the Universe microseconds after the Big Bang, with comparable amounts of matter and antimatter. Much of the created antimatter escapes the rapidly expanding fireball without annihilating, making such collisions an effective experimental tool to create heavy antimatter nuclear objects and study their properties, hoping to shed some light on existing questions on the asymmetry between matter and antimatter. Here we report the first observation of the antimatter hypernucleus \hbox{$^4_{\bar{\Lambda}}\overline{\hbox{H}}$}, composed of a $\bar{\Lambda}$ , an antiproton and two antineutrons. The discovery was made through its two-body decay after production in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions by the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. In total, 15.6 candidate \hbox{$^4_{\bar{\Lambda}}\overline{\hbox{H}}$} antimatter hypernuclei are obtained with an estimated background count of 6.4. The lifetimes of the antihypernuclei \hbox{$^3_{\bar{\Lambda}}\overline{\hbox{H}}$} and \hbox{$^4_{\bar{\Lambda}}\overline{\hbox{H}}$} are measured and compared with the lifetimes of their corresponding hypernuclei, testing the symmetry between matter and antimatter. Abstract: For the search of the chiral magnetic effect (CME), STAR previously presented the results from isobar collisions (${^{96}_{44}\text{Ru}}+{^{96}_{44}\text{Ru}}$, ${^{96}_{40}\text{Zr}}+{^{96}_{40}\text{Zr}}$) obtained through a blind analysis. The ratio of results in Ru+Ru to Zr+Zr collisions for the CME-sensitive charge-dependent azimuthal correlator ($\Delta\gamma$), normalized by elliptic anisotropy ($v_{2}$), was observed to be close to but systematically larger than the inverse multiplicity ratio. The background baseline for the isobar ratio, $Y = \frac{(\Delta\gamma/v_{2})^{\text{Ru}}}{(\Delta\gamma/v_{2})^{\text{Zr}}}$, is naively expected to be $\frac{(1/N)^{\text{Ru}}}{(1/N)^{\text{Zr}}}$; however, genuine two- and three-particle correlations are expected to alter it. We estimate the contributions to $Y$ from those correlations, utilizing both the isobar data and HIJING simulations. After including those contributions, we arrive at a final background baseline for $Y$, which is consistent with the isobar data. We extract an upper limit for the CME fraction in the $\Delta\gamma$ measurement of approximately $10\%$ at a $95\%$ confidence level on in isobar collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}} = 200$ GeV, with an expected $15\%$ difference in their squared magnetic fields., Comment: 19 pages, 14 figures

111. Small-Signal Stability and SCR Enhancement of Offshore WPPs with Synchronous Condensers

Abstract: Synchronous condensers (SCs) have been reported to improve the overall stability and short-circuit power of a power system. SCs are also being integrated into offshore wind power plants (WPPs) for the same reason. This paper, investigates the effect of synchronous condensers on an offshore wind power plant with grid-following (GFL) and grid-forming (GFM) converter controls. Primarily, the effect of synchronous condensers can be two-fold: (1) overall stability enhancement of the WPP by providing reactive power support, (2) contribution to the effective short circuit ratio (SCR) of the WPP by fault current support. Therefore, this paper focuses on studies concerning these effects on an aggregated model of a WPP connected to the grid. To that end, a state-space model of the test system is developed for small-signal stability assessment and the synchronous condenser's effect on its stability. In addition, a mathematical explanation of SCR enhancement with synchronous condenser is provided and is verified with time-domain electromagnetic transient simulations.

112. VTON-IT: Virtual Try-On using Image Translation

Abstract: Virtual Try-On (trying clothes virtually) is a promising application of the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN). However, it is an arduous task to transfer the desired clothing item onto the corresponding regions of a human body because of varying body size, pose, and occlusions like hair and overlapped clothes. In this paper, we try to produce photo-realistic translated images through semantic segmentation and a generative adversarial architecture-based image translation network. We present a novel image-based Virtual Try-On application VTON-IT that takes an RGB image, segments desired body part, and overlays target cloth over the segmented body region. Most state-of-the-art GAN-based Virtual Try-On applications produce unaligned pixelated synthesis images on real-life test images. However, our approach generates high-resolution natural images with detailed textures on such variant images.

Abstract: Grid-forming control (GFC) has seen numerous technological advances in their control types, applications, and the multitude of services they provide. Some examples of the services they provide include black start, inertial frequency response, and islanded operation capabilities with the possibility of re-synchronization without the need of additional support from other devices such as storage. State of the art literature proposes a variety of GFCs which can provide single or multiple of these services. However, study of these different GFCs for weakly-connected offshore wind power plants (WPPs) based on time-domain simulation and focusing on the large signal disturbance is not well covered. This paper reviews some of the most researched grid-forming control methods applicable to offshore WPPs and provides a comparative investigation and discussion of their stability properties and applicability, especially when connected to a weak-grid. The paper also provides a discussion on the prerequisites and challenges surrounding the comparative study of different GFCs.

114. Solving Two-Player General-Sum Games Between Swarms

Abstract: Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs (HJI) PDEs are the governing equations for the two-player general-sum games. Unlike Reinforcement Learning (RL) methods, which are data-intensive methods for learning value function, learning HJ PDEs provide a guaranteed convergence to the Nash Equilibrium value of the game when it exists. However, a caveat is that solving HJ PDEs becomes intractable when the state dimension increases. To circumvent the curse of dimensionality (CoD), physics-informed machine learning methods with supervision can be used and have been shown to be effective in generating equilibrial policies in two-player general-sum games. In this work, we extend the existing work on agent-level two-player games to a two-player swarm-level game, where two sub-swarms play a general-sum game. We consider the \textit{Kolmogorov forward equation} as the dynamic model for the evolution of the densities of the swarms. Results show that policies generated from the physics-informed neural network (PINN) result in a higher payoff than a Nash Double Deep Q-Network (Nash DDQN) agent and have comparable performance with numerical solvers., Comment: Submitted to ACC 2024. Abstract: We report results on an elastic cross section measurement in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=510$ GeV, obtained with the Roman Pot setup of the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The elastic differential cross section is measured in the four-momentum transfer squared range $0.23 \leq -t \leq 0.67$ GeV$^2$. We find that a constant slope $B$ does not fit the data in the aforementioned $t$ range, and we obtain a much better fit using a second-order polynomial for $B(t)$. The $t$ dependence of $B$ is determined using six subintervals of $t$ in the STAR measured $t$ range, and is in good agreement with the phenomenological models. The measured elastic differential cross section $\mathrm{d}\sigma/\mathrm{dt}$ agrees well with the results obtained at $\sqrt{s} = 546$ GeV for proton--antiproton collisions by the UA4 experiment. We also determine that the integrated elastic cross section within the STAR $t$-range is $\sigma^\mathrm{fid}_\mathrm{el} = 462.1 \pm 0.9 (\mathrm{stat.}) \pm 1.1 (\mathrm {syst.}) \pm 11.6 (\mathrm {scale})$~$\mu\mathrm{b}$., Comment: 9 pages, 9 figures Version as published in Physics Letters B. Abstract: The longitudinal and transverse spin transfers to $\Lambda$ ($\overline{\Lambda}$) hyperons in polarized proton-proton collisions are expected to be sensitive to the helicity and transversity distributions, respectively, of (anti-)strange quarks in the proton, and to the corresponding polarized fragmentation functions. We report improved measurements of the longitudinal spin transfer coefficient, $D_{LL}$, and the transverse spin transfer coefficient, $D_{TT}$, to $\Lambda$ and $\overline{\Lambda}$ in polarized proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV by the STAR experiment at RHIC. The data set includes longitudinally polarized proton-proton collisions with an integrated luminosity of 52 pb$^{-1}$, and transversely polarized proton-proton collisions with a similar integrated luminosity. Both data sets have about twice the statistics of previous results and cover a kinematic range of $|\eta_{\Lambda(\overline{\Lambda})}|$ $<$ 1.2 and transverse momentum $p_{T,{\Lambda(\overline{\Lambda})}}$ up to 8 GeV/$c$. We also report the first measurements of the hyperon spin transfer coefficients $D_{LL}$ and $D_{TT}$ as a function of the fractional jet momentum $z$ carried by the hyperon, which can provide more direct constraints on the polarized fragmentation functions.

Abstract: We measure triangular flow relative to the reaction plane at 3 GeV center-of-mass energy in Au+Au collisions at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. A significant $v_3$ signal for protons is observed, which increases for higher rapidity, higher transverse momentum, and more peripheral collisions. The triangular flow is essentially rapidity-odd with a slope at mid-rapidity, $dv_3/dy|_{(y=0)}$, opposite in sign compared to the slope for directed flow. No significant $v_3$ signal is observed for charged pions and kaons. Comparisons with models suggest that a mean field potential is required to describe these results, and that the triangular shape of the participant nucleons is the result of stopping and nuclear geometry., Comment: 12 pages, 14 figures

Abstract: In today's globalized world, effective communication with people from diverse linguistic backgrounds has become increasingly crucial. While traditional methods of language translation, such as written text or voice-only translations, can accomplish the task, they often fail to capture the complete context and nuanced information conveyed through nonverbal cues like facial expressions and lip movements. In this paper, we present an end-to-end video translation system that not only translates spoken language but also synchronizes the translated speech with the lip movements of the speaker. Our system focuses on translating educational lectures in various Indian languages, and it is designed to be effective even in low-resource system settings. By incorporating lip movements that align with the target language and matching them with the speaker's voice using voice cloning techniques, our application offers an enhanced experience for students and users. This additional feature creates a more immersive and realistic learning environment, ultimately making the learning process more effective and engaging.

Abstract: In the last decade, despite rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) transforming many industry practices, construction largely lags in adoption. Recently, the emergence and rapid adoption of advanced large language models (LLM) like OpenAI's GPT, Google's PaLM, and Meta's Llama have shown great potential and sparked considerable global interest. However, the current surge lacks a study investigating the opportunities and challenges of implementing Generative AI (GenAI) in the construction sector, creating a critical knowledge gap for researchers and practitioners. This underlines the necessity to explore the prospects and complexities of GenAI integration. Bridging this gap is fundamental to optimizing GenAI's early-stage adoption within the construction sector. Given GenAI's unprecedented capabilities to generate human-like content based on learning from existing content, we reflect on two guiding questions: What will the future bring for GenAI in the construction industry? What are the potential opportunities and challenges in implementing GenAI in the construction industry? This study delves into reflected perception in literature, analyzes the industry perception using programming-based word cloud and frequency analysis, and integrates authors' opinions to answer these questions. This paper recommends a conceptual GenAI implementation framework, provides practical recommendations, summarizes future research questions, and builds foundational literature to foster subsequent research expansion in GenAI within the construction and its allied architecture & engineering domains.

Abstract: The concept of \emph{complexity} has become pivotal in multiple disciplines, including quantum information, where it serves as an alternative metric for gauging the chaotic evolution of a quantum state. This paper focuses on \emph{Krylov complexity}, a specialized form of quantum complexity that offers an unambiguous and intrinsically meaningful assessment of the spread of a quantum state over all possible orthogonal bases. Our study is situated in the context of Gaussian quantum states, which are fundamental to both Bosonic and Fermionic systems and can be fully described by a covariance matrix. We show that while the covariance matrix is essential, it is insufficient alone for calculating Krylov complexity due to its lack of relative phase information. Our findings suggest that the relative covariance matrix can provide an upper bound for Krylov complexity for Gaussian quantum states. Abstract: The low-lying structure of $^{13}$Be has remained an enigma for decades. Despite numerous experimental and theoretical studies, large inconsistencies remain. Being both unbound, and one neutron away from $^{14}$Be, the heaviest bound beryllium nucleus, $^{13}$Be is difficult to study through simple reactions with weak radioactive ion beams or more complex reactions with stable-ion beams. Here, we present the results of a study using the $^{12}$Be(d,p)$^{13}$Be reaction in inverse kinematics using a 9.5~MeV per nucleon $^{12}$Be beam from the ISAC-II facility. The solid deuteron target of IRIS was used to achieve an increased areal thickness compared to conventional deuterated polyethylene targets. The Q-value spectrum below -4.4~MeV was analyzed using a Bayesian method with GEANT4 simulations. A three-point angular distribution with the same Q-value gate was fit with a mixture of $s$- and $p$-wave, $s$- and $d$-wave, or pure $p$-wave transfer. The Q-value spectrum was also compared with GEANT simulations obtained using the energies and widths of states reported in four previous works. It was found that our results are incompatible with works that revealed a wide $5/2^+$ resonance but shows better agreement with ones that reported a narrower width., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: The chiral magnetic effect (CME) is a phenomenon that arises from the QCD anomaly in the presence of an external magnetic field. The experimental search for its evidence has been one of the key goals of the physics program of the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider. The STAR collaboration has previously presented the results of a blind analysis of isobar collisions (${^{96}_{44}\text{Ru}}+{^{96}_{44}\text{Ru}}$, ${^{96}_{40}\text{Zr}}+{^{96}_{40}\text{Zr}}$) in the search for the CME. The isobar ratio ($Y$) of CME-sensitive observable, charge separation scaled by elliptic anisotropy, is close to but systematically larger than the inverse multiplicity ratio, the naive background baseline. This indicates the potential existence of a CME signal and the presence of remaining nonflow background due to two- and three-particle correlations, which are different between the isobars. In this post-blind analysis, we estimate the contributions from those nonflow correlations as a background baseline to $Y$, utilizing the isobar data as well as Heavy Ion Jet Interaction Generator simulations. This baseline is found consistent with the isobar ratio measurement, and an upper limit of 10% at 95% confidence level is extracted for the CME fraction in the charge separation measurement in isobar collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=200$ GeV., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures

Abstract: The material class of kagome metals has rapidly grown and has been established as a field to explore the interplay between electronic topology and magnetism. In this work, we report a combined theoretical and experimental study of the anomalous Hall effect of the ferromagnetic kagome metal Fe$_3$Sn. The compound orders magnetically at 725 K and presents an easy-plane anisotropy. Hall measurements in single crystals below room temperature yield an anomalous Hall conductivity $\sigma_{xy}\sim500\,(\Omega\textrm{cm})^{-1}$, which is found to depend weakly on temperature. This value is in good agreement with the band-intrinsic contribution obtained by density-functional calculations. 124. TimeTrail: Unveiling Financial Fraud Patterns through Temporal Correlation Analysis

Abstract: In the field of financial fraud detection, understanding the underlying patterns and dynamics is important to ensure effective and reliable systems. This research introduces a new technique, "TimeTrail," which employs advanced temporal correlation analysis to explain complex financial fraud patterns. The technique leverages time-related insights to provide transparent and interpretable explanations for fraud detection decisions, enhancing accountability and trust. The "TimeTrail" methodology consists of three key phases: temporal data enrichment, dynamic correlation analysis, and interpretable pattern visualization. Initially, raw financial transaction data is enriched with temporal attributes. Dynamic correlations between these attributes are then quantified using innovative statistical measures. Finally, a unified visualization framework presents these correlations in an interpretable manner. To validate the effectiveness of "TimeTrail," a study is conducted on a diverse financial dataset, surrounding various fraud scenarios. Results demonstrate the technique's capability to uncover hidden temporal correlations and patterns, performing better than conventional methods in both accuracy and interpretability. Moreover, a case study showcasing the application of "TimeTrail" in real-world scenarios highlights its utility for fraud detection.

125. Frequency limits of sequential readout for sensing AC magnetic fields using nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond

Abstract: The nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond have ability to sense alternating-current (AC) magnetic fields with high spatial resolution. However, the frequency range of AC sensing protocols based on dynamical decoupling (DD) sequences has not been thoroughly explored experimentally. In this work, we aimed to determine the sensitivity of ac magnetic field as a function of frequency using sequential readout method. The upper limit at high frequency is clearly determined by Rabi frequency, in line with the expected effect of finite DD-pulse width. In contrast, the lower frequency limit is primarily governed by the duration of optical repolarization rather than the decoherence time (T$_2$) of NV spins. This becomes particularly crucial when the repetition (dwell) time of the sequential readout is fixed to maintain the acquisition bandwidth. The equation we provide successfully describes the tendency in the frequency dependence. In addition, at the near-optimal frequency of 1 MHz, we reached a maximum sensitivity of 229 pT/$\sqrt{\mathrm{Hz}}$ by employing the XY4-(4) DD sequence., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: Single crystals of Ca$_3$(Ir$_{1-x}$Rh$_x$)$_4$Sn$_{13}$ (3-4-13) were synthesized by flux growth and characterized by X-ray diffraction, EDX, magnetization, resistivity and radio frequency magnetic susceptibility tunnel diode resonator (TDR) techniques. Compositional variation of the Rh/Ir ratio was used to study the coexistence and competition between the charge density wave (CDW) and superconductivity. The superconducting transition temperature varies from approximately 7 K in pure Ir ($x=0$) to approximately 8.3 K in pure Rh ($x=1$). Temperature-dependent electrical resistivity reveals monotonic suppression of the CDW transition temperature, $T_{\text{CDW}}(x)$. The CDW starts in pure Ir, $x=0$, with $T_{\text{CDW}}\approx40$~K and extrapolates roughly linearly to zero at $x_c=0.58$ under the dome of superconductivity. Magnetization and transport measurements show a significant influence of CDW on the superconducting and normal state. Vortex pinning is substantially enhanced in the CDW region, and the resistivity is larger in this part of the phase diagram. The London penetration depth is attenuated exponentially upon cooling at low temperatures for all compositions, indicating a fully-gapped Fermi surface. We conclude that a novel $\text{Ca}_3(\text{Ir}_{1-x}\text{Rh}_x)_4\text{Sn}_{13}$ alloy with coexisting/competing CDW and superconductivity, is a good candidate to look for a composition-driven quantum critical point at ambient pressure.

Abstract: The intrinsically superconducting Dirac semimetal 2M-WS$_{2}$ is a promising candidate to realize proximity-induced topological superconductivity in its protected surface states. A precise characterization of the bulk superconducting state is essential for understanding the nature of surface superconductivity in the system. Here, we perform a detailed experimental study of the temperature and nonmagnetic disorder dependence of the London penetration depth $\lambda$, the upper critical field $H_{c2}$, and the superconducting transition temperature $T_c$ in 2M-WS$_{2}$. We observe a power-law dependence $\lambda(T) - \lambda(0) \propto T^{3}$ at temperatures below $0.35~T_c$, which is remarkably different from the expected exponential attenuation of a fully gapped isotropic $s$-wave superconductor. We then probe the effect of controlled nonmagnetic disorder induced by 2.5 MeV electron irradiation at various doses and find a significant $T_c$ suppression rate. Together with the observed increase of the slope $dH_{c2}/dT|_{T=T_c}$ with irradiation, our results reveal a strongly anisotropic $s^{++}$ multiband superconducting state that takes the same sign on different Fermi sheets. Our results have direct consequences for the expected proximity-induced superconductivity of the topological surface states.

Abstract: Angular distributions of charged particles relative to jet axes are studied in $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}$ = 200 GeV Au+Au collisions as a function of the jet orientation with respect to the event plane. This differential study tests the expected path-length dependence of energy loss experienced by a hard-scattered parton as it traverses the hot and dense medium formed in heavy-ion collisions. A second-order event plane is used in the analysis as an experimental estimate of the reaction plane formed by the collision impact parameter and the beam direction. Charged-particle jets with $15 < p_{\rm T, jet} <$ 20 and $20 < p_{\rm T, jet} <$ 40 GeV/$c$ were reconstructed with the anti-$k_{\rm T}$ algorithm with radius parameter setting of (R=0.4) in the 20-50\% centrality bin to maximize the initial-state eccentricity of the interaction region. The reaction plane fit method is implemented to remove the flow-modulated background with better precision than prior methods. Yields and widths of jet-associated charged-hadron distributions are extracted in three angular bins between the jet axis and the event plane. The event-plane (EP) dependence is further quantified by ratios of the associated yields in different EP bins. No dependence on orientation of the jet axis with respect to the event plane is seen within the uncertainties in the kinematic regime studied. This finding is consistent with a similar experimental observation by ALICE in $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}$ = 2.76 TeV Pb+Pb collision data.

Abstract: Obtaining labelled data in medical image segmentation is challenging due to the need for pixel-level annotations by experts. Recent works have shown that augmenting the object of interest with deformable transformations can help mitigate this challenge. However, these transformations have been learned globally for the image, limiting their transferability across datasets or applicability in problems where image alignment is difficult. While object-centric augmentations provide a great opportunity to overcome these issues, existing works are only focused on position and random transformations without considering shape variations of the objects. To this end, we propose a novel object-centric data augmentation model that is able to learn the shape variations for the objects of interest and augment the object in place without modifying the rest of the image. Abstract: On the basis of density functional theory calculations we predict Weyl points in rhombohedral structure of PtNiO$_2$ having symmorphic symmetry. From the formation energy and phonon calculations, PtNiO$_2$ is found to be structurally stable. The magnetic ground state is ferromagnetic with an effective magnetic moment of 1.01 $\mu_B$ per unit cell. The electronic structure shows major contributions from Pt-$5d$, Ni-$3d$ and O-$2p$ orbitals with band crossing close to the Fermi level. The orbital contribution around 8 eV above the Fermi level are from the Pt-$s,p$ orbitals forming a kagome like electronic structure confirmed by surface Fermi surface spectral function. We found 20 pairs of confirmed Weyl nodes along the magnetic easy axis [100]. Abstract: Purpose: Effective human resource management (HRM) practices are essential factors that provide organizations with a competitive edge and contribute to their overall performance. This study examines the impact of HRM practices, including recruitment and selection (RS), training and development (TD), compensation policies (CPs), and performance appraisal (PA), on the organizational performance (OP) of the Nepalese development banks (DBs). Design/methodology/approach: The study followed a causal-comparative research approach. It employed a structured questionnaire to gather the necessary data from 257 working representatives of the ten selected Nepalese DBs. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM) were used to examine the association between the variables and validate the study hypotheses. Findings: The HRM practices exhibit a significant and positive association with OP (β = 0.910; p < 0.05), indicating their influence on achieving organisational success. Such findings offer a pragmatic perspective for achieving HRM excellence and organisational effectiveness in the Nepalese DBs. Research constraints/implications: Analysis of cross-sectional data from development banks cannot be extrapolated to other sectors. This study emphasises the importance of compensation, performance measurement, hiring and selection, development, and training in improving OP, confirming and expanding prior findings. Abstract: Abstract We report multi-differential measurements of strange hadron production ranging from mid- to target-rapidity in Au+Au collisions at a center-of-momentum energy per nucleon pair of s NN $$ \sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}} $$ = 3 GeV with the STAR experiment at RHIC. K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ meson and Λ hyperon yields are measured via their weak decay channels. Collision centrality and rapidity dependences of the transverse momentum spectra and particle ratios are presented. Particle mass and centrality dependence of the average transverse momenta of Λ and K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ are compared with other strange particles, providing evidence of the development of hadronic rescattering in such collisions. The 4π yields of each of these strange hadrons show a consistent centrality dependence. Discussions on radial flow, the strange hadron production mechanism, and properties of the medium created in such collisions are presented together with results from hadronic transport and thermal model calculations.

149. Impact of customer satisfaction on commercial banks in Nepal: Insights from a survey-based study

Abstract: This study investigates how various service quality dimensions affect customer satisfaction in commercial banks across Nepal. The objective of this study is to examine the impact of key service quality dimensions (responsiveness, empathy, assurance, communication, and overall service quality) on customer satisfaction in commercial banks in Nepal. A survey-based quantitative approach was employed, collecting data from 399 customers in Nepal. The study utilizes multiple linear regression analysis and hypothesis testing to determine the relationship between these factors and customer satisfaction. The results indicate that communication, assurance, and service quality positively influence customer satisfaction, with a moderate mean score of 2.317949 out of 5 and moderate variability (SD = 0.479612). These three factors are key contributors, accounting for 41.5% of the variation in satisfaction, whereas empathy and responsiveness have weaker or insignificant impacts. The study concludes that enhancing communication and service quality is crucial for improving customer satisfaction, which is essential for sustainable growth in Nepal’s financial sector.

150. Investigating public understanding and actions regarding Aedes mosquitoes and dengue prevention across altitudinal range in central Nepal

Abstract: Backgrounds & objectives: Dengue fever, transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, is a significant public health concern in Nepal. An extensive Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) survey related to Aedes mosquitoes and prevention of dengue was conducted along the route from Matihani (62 m above sea level) to Kalinchok (3840 m asl) in central Nepal. This research examined residents’ awareness of Aedes mosquitoes and the diseases they transmit, aiming to support the World Health Organization’s national and global fight against mosquito-borne diseases. Methods: The survey included 550 participants aged 18-75 years (249 males and 201 females). Door-to-door campaigns were conducted to gather data on knowledge scores, practices, and attitudes about Aedes mosquitoes using a standard structured questionnaire. Results: Findings of this study revealed a moderate level of knowledge across the study area, with a mean knowledge score of 5.525±2.58 (correct answer rate of 46.05%). While 99.6% of respondents were aware of dengue transmission by mosquitoes, only 64.5% were able to report Aedes mosquitoes as the key transmitter. Less than one-third of the participants (27.8%) were familiar with black-and-white stripes in Aedes. Additionally, only 36.7% were knowledgeable about the day-biting behavior of Aedes mosquitoes. Interpretation & conclusion: This KAP survey provides valuable insights into community understanding of Aedes mosquitoes and dengue prevention practices associated with various Nepalese communities residing in low to high altitudes of central Nepal. These findings can be adopted to address the increasing health burden faced by countries with low-to-high altitude regions within the Hindu Kush Himalayas.
