Abstract

This paper presents a new control strategy for a squirrel-cage induction generator (SCIG) operating as a generator principally designed for use in small wind turbine. The squirrelcage induction generator coupled to the grid through the AC/DC/AC converters is capable of generating energy even at low wind speed. The induction generator side converter (IGSC) is controlled by direct torque control (DTC). Also the induction machine speed is regulated in a way that a maximum energy as possible will be obtained by the use of a MPPT algorithm at the generator and aerodynamic control (Pitch Control) at the turbine. This paper proposes an improved direct power control based on a fuzzy logic controller (F-DPC) of the grid side converter (GSC) regulates the DC-link voltage and injected active and reactive powers. The complete control system has been developed, analyzed, and validated by simulation study. Case study includes choosing different scenarios to evaluate the performance of these control approaches. Fuzzy logic controller of direct power (F-DPC) is included in its control loops. Simulation results confirmed the effectiveness of the fuzzy logic controlled variable capacitance in different case study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Stability of power systems becomes one of the major precautions with electricity suppliers. These systems must maintain a steady state in the neighborhood of the operating points so as a result of severe disturbances. In this paper we study the dynamic stability of the three node power system by the bifurcation theory and the stability of limit cycles emerging from a subcritical or supercritical Hopf bifurcation by computing the first Lyapunov coefficient. In the other hand we compute the continuation of the Saddle Node bifurcation with liberating two parameters the gain of the regulator AVR and the mechanical input power of the generator. Abstract

In this paper, an adaptive control using a combined backstepping sliding mode control algorithm is proposed for a class of uncertain nonlinear system in strict feedback form. It is proved that the proposed robust adaptive scheme can guarantee that all the signals in the closed loop systems are globally uniformly ultimately bounded and the tracking error converges asymptotically to zero. Abstract

The aim of this paper seeks to optimize the characteristics of an hybrid linear tubular stepping motor. First, the existing of electromagnetic, thermal, mechanical and dynamic phenomena in the studied complex system orients us to elaborate several models. Second, the formulation of the optimization problem required initially the choice of the optimization criteria specific to the considered application which coincide with global mass and losses. The tests of the influences of electrical and geometric parameters on the weight and losses of the machine entailed the best selection of the optimization variables. After that, a definition of thermal, mechanical and magnetic constraints is achieved limiting the objective function minimization. The analytic model coupled with Genetic Algorithm and using the efficient weighted sum method has entailed conclusive results. The contribution of the machine optimization application is principally a clutter reduction permitting its integration in small systems; leakage flux lines attenuation and a temperature decrease limiting the machine overheat.
