Abstract

Requirements engineering is a fundamental process in software development phases. At the same time, it is a difficult phase and exposed many ethical violations. The main purpose is proposing an ethical framework for software requirements engineering that addresses the identified concerns. These concerns include problems associated with a knowledge gap, requirements identification, quality‐related concerns, unwillingness to give requirements, and practicing forbidden activities. These concerns are grouped into a category as the proposed framework components. Each of the categories encompasses more than one problem domain. The proposed framework suggests resolving mechanisms as collections of clauses for each of those concerns. An expert evaluation technique is used to validate the proposed framework. The experts are purposefully selected from software industries and institutions. Questionnaires and focus group discussions were used as data‐gathering tools for the validation of the proposed framework. The validity (face validity, content validity, and construct validity) and the reliability of the proposed framework were checked. The evaluation results show that the proposed framework has an acceptable range of validity and reliability. The proposed framework can be used as a guideline for software engineers to minimise the occurrence of those identified concerns during the requirements engineering process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The dataset presented in this paper presents a dataset related to three motionless activities, including driving, watching TV, and sleeping. During these activities, the mobile device may be positioned in different locations, including the pants pockets, in a wristband, over the bedside table, on a table, inside the car, or on other furniture, for the acquisition of accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, GPS, and microphone data. The data was collected by 25 individuals (15 men and 10 women) in different environments in Covilhã and Fundão municipalities (Portugal). The dataset includes the sensors’ captures related to a minimum of 2000 captures for each motionless activity, which corresponds to 2.8 h (approximately) for each one. This dataset includes 8.4 h (approximately) of captures for further analysis with data processing techniques, and machine learning methods. It will be useful for the complementary creation of a robust method for the identification of these type of activities.

Abstract

Fifth generation (5G) technologies have become the center of attention in managing and monitoring high-speed transportation system effectively with the intelligent and self-adaptive sensing capabilities. Besides, the boom in portable devices has witnessed a huge breakthrough in the data driven vehicular platform. However, sensor-based Internet of Things (IoT) devices are playing the major role as edge nodes in the intelligent transportation system (ITS). Thus, due to high mobility/speed of vehicles and resource-constrained nature of edge nodes more data packets will be lost with high power drain and shorter battery life. Thus, this research significantly contributes in three ways. First, 5G-based self-adaptive green (i.e., energy efficient) algorithm is proposed. Second, a novel 5G-driven reliable algorithm is proposed. Proposed joint energy efficient and reliable approach contains four layers, i.e., application, physical, networks, and medium access control. Third, a novel joint energy efficient and reliable framework is proposed for ITS. Moreover, the energy and reliability in terms of received signal strength (RSSI) and hence packet loss ratio (PLR) optimization is performed under the constraint that all transmitted packets must utilize minimum transmission power with high reliability under particular active time slot. Abstract

Pneumonia caused by COVID-19 is a severe health risk that sometimes leads to fatal outcomes. Due to constraints in medical care systems, technological solutions should be applied to diagnose, monitor, and alert about the disease’s progress for patients receiving care at home. Some sleep disturbances, such as obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, can increase the risk for COVID-19 patients. This paper proposes an approach to evaluating patients’ sleep quality with the aim of detecting sleep disturbances caused by pneumonia and other COVID-19-related pathologies. We describe a non-invasive sensor network that is used for sleep monitoring and evaluate the feasibility of an approach for training a machine learning model to detect possible COVID-19-related sleep disturbances. We also discuss a cloud-based approach for the implementation of the proposed system for processing the data streams. Based on the preliminary results, we conclude that sleep disturbances are detectable with affordable and non-invasive sensors.
