The present paper consists of an analysis of the bibliographical notes in the work Une Fête Brésilienne, by the french author Ferdinand Denis, through the perspective of the evidential paradigm proposed by Carlo Ginzburg. In the work, Denis reconstructs the picturesque festival held in Rouen, in 1550, in honor of the monarchs Henrique II and Catherine de Médici. However, the bibliographical notes present in the work offer us evidence of great importance for the study of the Social History of Culture in the beginning of modernity, as it informs about the origin of individuals who figured as “attractions” and of those who occupied the function of guests. Furthermore, the notes present details about the music and other festive cultural practices of colonial Brazil., O presente artigo consiste na análise das notas bibliográficas da obra Uma Festa Brasileira, do autor francês Ferdinand Denis, através da perspectiva do paradigma indiciário proposto por Carlo Ginzburg. Na obra, Denis reconstrói a pitoresca festa realizada em Rouen, no ano de 1550, em homenagem aos monarcas Henrique II e Catarina de Médici. Contudo, as notas bibliográficas presentes na obra nos oferecem indícios de grande importância para o estudo da História Social da Cultura no início da modernidade, pois informa acerca da origem dos indivíduos que figuravam como “atrações” e daqueles que ocupavam função de convivas. Ademais, as notas apresentam detalhes sobre a música e demais práticas culturais festivas do Brasil colonial.

This paper introduces two new Greek inscriptions from Asarcık, the ancient name of which can now securely be acknowledged as Aloanda, in western Lycia. Inscription no.1 documents the foundation of a certain Pokomas, son of Ermedepimis, dating from the Hellenistic period. The nature of Pokomas’ foundation is not entirely clear as the text is not fully preserved, but we read in the remaining parts of the text inscribed on four sides of the block that every year 5 brabeutai shall be elected and handed over a certain amount of money. It can be assumed that these brabeutai were responsible for the organisation of annual sacrifices, from which Pokomas and after Pokomas’ death his descendants were to receive an honorary share, and feasts mentioned on Face C. It is possible that Pokomas’ foundation also included an agon as can be inferred from several hints in the text. Pokomas was apparently a prominent figure and benefactor at Aloanda, which is indicated by the proclamation in the potos that Pokomas is crowned by the demos of Aloandeans with a wreath of olive branch. This proclamation also indicates that Pokomas’ foundation had public benefit, and therefore, even though the scale or the context of the sacrificial festivities to be held under Pokomas’ foundation is not clarified in the preserved text, it is possible that these were public events. Yet, alongside this public benefit, Pokomas may explicitly have founded these events or rituals for the commemoration of himself and his family in eternity. Inscription no. 2 is the epitaph of a certain Trokondas, son of Apollonios, set up by his father, his wife and children, also dating from the Hellenistic period., Bu makale Lykia’da yer alan Asarcık’ta bulunmuş iki yeni Eski Yunanca yazıtı tanıtmaktadır. Ancak yazıtın kalan kısımlarında, her yıl 5 adet brabeutes’in seçilmesi ve bunlara para aktarılması gerektiği yer almaktadır. Söz konusu brabeutes’lerin, C yüzünde bahsi geçen ve Pokomas’a, onun ölümünden sonra ise, Pokomas’ın soyundan gelen kimselere bu kurbanlardan onur payı verilecek olan kurban törenleri ve ziyafetlerden sorumlu oldukları düşünülebilir. Metindeki bazı ipuçları, Pokomas’ın vakfı kapsamında agon’ların da organize edildiği ihtimalini ortaya koymaktadır. Potos (içme şöleni) esnasında Aloanda halk meclisinin Pokomas’ı taçlandırdığı şeklinde duyuru yapılması, Pokomas’ın Aloanda’da önde gelen bir kişi ve bir hayırsever olduğuna işaret etmektedir. Bu duyuru, aynı zamanda, vakfın bir kamu yararı içerdiğine de işaret etmektedir. Eğer (brabeutes’leri) seçmezler ya da (parayı) devretmezlerse, devretmedikleri miktarın 1,5 katı kadar borçlu olsunlar ve yukarıda yazıldığı şekilde kendilerine karşı cezai işlem uygulanarak, borçlu oldukları para onlardan tahsil edilsin.Tütsüyü yakarken içki şöleni esnasında şöyle ilan etsinler: “Aloandalıların halk meclisi Pokomas’ı zeytin dalından bir taçla taçlandırıyor”; eğer Aloanda’da hazır bulunuyor iseler, Pokomas’ın akrabalarından üç adamı ziyafete davet etsinler; Pokomas’a yaşadığı sürece kurban edilen hayvanlardan bir tane arka bacak (?) budu versinler; Pokomas öldükten sonra, (bunu) çocuklarına, ama her zaman daha büyük olana versinler; çocuklar da öldükten sonra, en yakın akrabalarına versinler. Bayramlar, toplumu birleştiren, birlik ve beraberlik duygularını pekiştiren önemli günlerdir. Ülkelerin geçmişte yaşadıkları önemli günleri, o ülkelerin milli bayramları olmuştur. Türkiye’de de Milli Mücadele dönemi olayları mili günleri oluşturmuştur. Milli Mücadelede yer alan önemli günlerden biri de 30 Ağustos tarihidir. 26 Ağustos 1922’de başlayan taarruz Türk milletinin zaferi ile sonuçlanmıştır. Büyük Taarruz Türk milletinin umutlarının tekrar yeşermesine ve eski gücünü tekrar elde etmesine neden olmuştur. Taarruz büyük bir gizlilik içinde planlanmıştır. Taarruzun ne zaman yapılacağından sadece Gazi Mustafa Kemal Paşa ve yakın arkadaşının haberi olmuştur. Büyük Taarruz öncesinde Gazi Mustafa Kemal Paşa’ya tekrar Başkomutan unvanı verilmiştir. 30 Ağustos’ta Türk ordusunun kesin zaferi ile sonuçlanan Büyük Taarruz büyük sevinçle karşılanmıştır. Bayramların kutlama şekilleri ve hangi tarihten itibaren kutlanıldığını bilmek milletlerin geçmişlerini unutmamaları ve ülkesine bağlı yeni nesiller yetiştirmeleri bakımından önemlidir. Bu nedenle 30 Ağustos 1924’te Dumlupınar’da Gazi Mustafa Kemal Paşa’nın da katıldığı bir törenle zafer kutlanmıştır. Bu törenden iki yıl sonra Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi’nde bir kanun çıkarılarak, 30 Ağustos tarihinin bayram olarak kutlanmasına karar verilmiştir. 30 Ağustos’un bayram sayılması için hazırlanan kanun tasarısı 1926 yılında kabul edilmiştir. 1930’ların ortalarına kadar üst düzeyde gerçekleşen büyük zafer kutlaması yapılmamıştır. Çalışmamızda Türkiye’de 1929 ile 1938 yılları arasında yapılan Zafer Bayramı kutlamaları incelenmiştir. Two years after this ceremony, a law was passed in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and it was decided that the date of August 30 should be celebrated as a holiday. The draft law on the celebration of August 30 was adopted in 1926. there were no major victory celebrations that took place at the senior level until the mid-1930s. But especially after 1930, Victory Day on August 30 was celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country. In our study the Victory Day celebrations in Turkey between 1929 and 1938 were examined. While conducting the research, period newspapers and other printed sources were used.

Ovaj rad govori o blagdanu svetoga Stjepana – prvomučenika. Na početku rada detaljno izlažemo kako lik, tako i djelo sveca. Prikazat ćemo prvu Crkvu, apostole, njihovo poslanje i predaju te judeo-kršćane i kršćane heleniste, čiji je Stjepan bio pripadnik. Među problemima s kojima se susretala prva kršćanska zajednica nalazimo govor o brizi oko udovica i raspodjele hrane i dobara, zbog čega se izabiru sedmorica muškaraca među kojima je i naš prvomučenik. On se istaknuo svojim vrlinama, životom i govorom o Mesiji, no njegove propovijedi i rad privlače zanimanje, a kasnije i bijes nekršćana, što rezultira mučeništvom i smrću. Prvi dio rada završavamo opisom Stjepanova blagdana i štovanja, posebice u našim krajevima, te prelazimo na drugi i treći dio, u kojem proučavamo molitve, odnosno čitanja ovoga blagdana. Molitve pronađene na latinskom i hrvatskom jeziku u prethodnom i važećem Rimskom misalu, kao i misna čitanja, kratko ćemo objasniti u duhu katoličke teologije. In this thesis we present feast of St. Stephen - the first martyr. At the beginning of the work, we detaily introduce both the character and the work of the saint. We will present the first Church, the apostles, their mission and tradition, and the Judeo-Christians and Christian Hellenists, of whom Stephen was a member. Among the problems the first Christian community faced, we can find talk about caring for widows and the distribution of food and goods, which is why seven men are chosen, including our first martyr. He excelled in his virtues, life, and discourse on the Messiah, but his sermons and work attracted the interest and later anger of non-Christians, resulting in martyrdom and death. We will bring to closure the first part of the paper with a description of St. Stephen's feast and worship, especially in our region, and move on to the second and third part, in which we study the prayers and readings of this holiday. Prayers found in Latin and Croatian language in the previous and valid Roman Missal, as well as mass readings, will be briefly explained in the spirit of Catholic theology.

[EN] In this paper we focus on salt and spices cellars, a kind of object we will study from a gastronomic, artistic and socioeconomic perspective. To achieve this purpose, we will make a catalogue with pieces from art from museums, private collections, cathedrals and parishes, so we’ll get to know the important role spices had in the aragonese tables and kitchens in the 16th, 17th and early 18th centuries. In addition, a large amount of notarial documentation, graphic and pictorial representations and literary testimonies will be presented to illustrate certain artworks that have disappeared., [ES] Cuando hablamos de la relación entre arte y gastronomía se nos presentan varias posibilidades. En primer lugar, podemos abordar la representación de la comida y los usos alimentarios en las obras de arte. Por otra parte, cabe la posibilidad de efectuar un acercamiento a las piezas que estaban en contacto directo con los alimentos, como pueden ser las vajillas y otros aderezos artísticos desplegados sobre la mesa. En este caso nos dirigiremos hacia la segunda posibilidad, focalizando nuestra atención sobre los saleros y especieros. En consecuencia, nuestro objetivo será conocer el papel que tuvo durante los siglos XVI, XVII e inicios del XVIII un tipo muy especial de alimento: las especias. Aunque las conclusiones del estudio podrían aplicarse a un ámbito más general, vamos a circunscribirnos al ámbito aragonés en línea con otras investigaciones que estamos desarrollando en este momento, así como priorizaremos los ejemplos hechos con metales preciosos. Todos estos objetos, tan lujosos como los alimentos que contenían, se hicieron combinando materiales ostentosos como la plata, el oro e, incluso, piedras preciosas y nautilus. En la comunicación nos serviremos de diversos ejemplares conservados en museos, colecciones y tesoros catedralicios y parroquiales. Además, complementaremos este catálogo con numerosas descripciones de piezas perdidas o desaparecidas procedentes de la documentación notarial, ejemplos literarios y tratados sobre el arte de servir. Por último, enumeraremos las tipologías más frecuentes y profundizaremos en su iconografía, pues generalmente presentan decoración con motivos marinos.

This essay analyzes the concept of blot (offerings), places where it´s been held, how it was performed and why it is performed according to literature sources. The literature is often based on Icelandic sagas and storytelling originating from the Christian period, and even though, the storys should be told with some truthful facts, the conclusion is, that these are not trustworthy sources. The question regarding the sagas veracity is therefore discussed from an archaeological viewpoint. Can we find proof in the archaeological material that will give us answers if blot is an individual happening, that actually existed? The answer is no, because there is no actual evidence available that can guarantee that blot as a specific event did occur. The archaeological sources reveal that sacrifices and offerings was made outdoors and in halls. This essay has been investigating three places in Sweden, Bollstanäs in Uppland, Skedemosse on Öland and Helgö in Mälaren. All of these places have proof of sacrificial offerings but their relation to the blot mentioned in saga literature is uncertain. My conclusion is that blot is a subject that is difficult to find as an event in the archaeological material.

Dissertação de mestrado em Património Cultural, A festa e romaria em honra de Nossa Senhora da Lapa é atualmente uma das festividades mais importantes do concelho de Arcos de Valdevez. Em Arcos de Valdevez, esta devoção começou no século XVIII e, quando esta investigação se iniciou, cria-se que as respetivas festividades tinham sido constantes até meados do século XX, altura em que deixaram de se fazer. Esta festa e romaria veio a ser retomada em 2009, passando mesmo a festa de Nossa Senhora da Lapa a titular as «festas do concelho». A festa em honra de Nossa Senhora da Porta deixou de realizar-se nos finais do século XIX. Foi retomada em 2010 como resultado de uma ação conjunta da Santa Casa da Misericórdia e da Câmara Municipal de Arcos de Valdevez. Uma vez que estas duas festas foram interrompidas durante décadas, pretendíamos saber se, atualmente, são sentidas como um retomar de antigas tradições, o que se sabe sobre a forma como cada uma delas foi celebrada no passado e se é possível encontrar similitudes entre o passado e o presente de cada uma delas., The festival and pilgrimage in honour of Nossa Senhora da Lapa is currently one of the most important festivities in the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez. In Arcos de Valdevez, this devotion began in the 18th century and, when this investigation began, it was believed that the respective festivities had been constant until the middle of the 20th century, when they stopped taking place. This festival and pilgrimage was resumed in 2009, the feast of Nossa Senhora da Lapa even becoming the title of the «municipality feasts». The feast in honour of Nossa Senhora da Porta was no longer held at the end of the 19th century. It was resumed in 2010 as a result of a joint action by Santa Casa da Misericórdia and the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez. Since these two festivals were interrupted for decades, I wanted to know if they are currently felt like a return to old traditions, what is known about how each one of them was celebrated in the past and if it is possible to find similarities between the past and the present of each one of them.

This essay deals with hospitals and the various forms of solidarity related to the communities in pre-alpine and alpine Lombardy during the time between the Later Middle Ages and the Early Modern Age. This field of institutions, along with its culture of piety, appears to have been intensely competitive: it involved opposing jurisdictional claims and different ideal and practical orientations, which highlighted deep historical discontinuities. In fact, the polemics against what were considered “abuses”, a category that should be considered more critically, had a decisive weight, because the practices of competitors in controlling the material and symbolic resources of almsgiving are often denigrated by one side or the other as abuses. The late medieval panorama, essentially characterized by the random distribution of food and wine, was later profoundly transformed, with the foundation of mounts of piety, the consolidation and sometimes the upgrading of hospitals, thanks to the initiatives of the communities themselves. However, the overcoming of some manifestations of traditional piety was also due to the consequence of the interference of the various social and institutional actors – individuals, communities, state and ecclesiastical authorities – and above all to the pressures from the latter. In fact, there were many possible forms of generosity: aristocratic clientelism, festivals of collective cohesion to which the poor and others flocked to have food and drink, the tendency of the community to grant land and loans renouncing any formal control of these resources. Just as the communities had degraded aristocratic liberality to a mere particularistic affair, the Church was more than ready to denounce the waste of ceremonial charity, promoting the delimitation of the ‘real poor’ as a group, to whom to allocate resources through a more rigorous management. However, ecclesiastical control over pious grants also encountered a local sensitivity of rigorist milieus and resulted in more general effects, in the abandonment of a charity without measure, and in the promotion of more analytical models of social distinction., Il saggio tratta degli ospedali e delle variegate forme di solidarietà che facevano capo alle comunità nella Lombardia prealpina e alpina fra tardo medioevo e prima età moderna. Il campo delle istituzioni e delle culture della misericordia appare altamente competitivo, segnato da opposte pretese giurisdizionali e da diversi orientamenti ideali e pratici, che scandiscono profonde discontinuità storiche. Ebbe un peso decisivo, infatti, la polemica contro quelli che vennero considerati abusi, categoria che si dovrà inquadrare criticamente, perché ad abusi spesso vengono degradate le pratiche dei concorrenti nel controllo delle risorse materiali e simboliche dell’elemosina. Il quadro tardo-medievale, caratterizzato essenzialmente dalle distribuzioni di cibo e vino a carattere estemporaneo, si trasformò profondamente, con la fondazione dei monti di pietà, il consolidamento e talvolta il rilancio degli ospedali, per iniziative delle stesse comunità. Tuttavia il superamento di alcune manifestazioni della pietà tradizionale fu anche dovuto all’esito dell’interferenza fra i diversi attori sociali e istituzionali – individui, comunità, autorità statali ed ecclesiastiche – e soprattutto alle pressioni di queste ultime. Molte, infatti, erano le possibili forme di generosità: il clientelismo aristocratico, le feste della coesione collettiva in cui si affollavano i poveri e non solo per avere da bere e da mangiare, la tendenza della comunità a concedere con criteri laschi di sorveglianza terra e prestiti. Come le comunità avevano degradato la liberalità aristocratica al mero interesse personalistico, così la Chiesa fu pronta a denunciare gli sprechi della carità cerimoniale, promuovendo la delimitazione dei veri poveri, cui destinare le risorse mediante più rigorose forme gestionali. Il controllo ecclesiastico sulle rendite pie incontrò però anche sensibilità di orientamento rigorista vive a livello locale ed ebbe esiti più generali, nell’abbandono di una carità non misurata e nella promozione di modelli più analitici di distinzione sociale.

Production of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) has generated great interest as building blocks for bioplastic production. Their production using mixed microbial cultures represents an interesting alternative, since it enables the use of organic wastes as a carbon source. Feast/famine strategy is a common way to promote selection of microorganisms with PHA accumulation capacity. However, when using waste sources, changes in substrate concentration are expected, that may affect performance and efficiency of the process. This study showed how the dissolved oxygen level can be used for online control of the cycle time, ensuring that the desired feast/famine ratio is effectively applied. An operation strategy is presented and validated, using sequential batch reactors fed with acetate as the carbon source. Production of polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) was studied, which is the expected type of PHA to be synthetized when using acetate as substrate. Two reactors were operated by applying the proposed control strategy, to provide F/F ratios of 0.2 and 0.6, respectively. A third reactor was operated with a fixed cycle time, for comparison purposes. Results showed that the reactor that operated at an F/F ratio of 0.6 promoted higher biomass productivity and PHB content, as a result of a better use of available time, preventing unnecessary long famine times. The application of the tested strategy is a simple a reliable way to promote a better performance of feast/famine-based bioreactors involving mixed microbial cultures for PHB production.

Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas This thesis, entitled ???the fruit festival???, yukurika basore, presents an anthropological approach to the ritual ceremonies performed by the ??t??pinopona (Tuyuka) of the upper Negro River, Northwest Amazon. The stage of this celebration is the border region between Brazil and Colombia, called the "Tukano triangle," which comprises the districts of Pari-Cachoeira, Taracu??, and Iauaret??, in the municipality of S??o Gabriel da Cachoeira, Amazonas - Brazil. The actors of the party are members of the Tuyuka, Tukano, Desana, Arapaso, Wanano, Piratapauia, Makuna, Tariana, Bar??, Hupda, and Mirititapuia ethnic groups, among others. The author of this thesis is also an actor in the feast and on the stage. The thesis was written based on the knowledge acquired in the Tuyuka family, on the learning during the execution of the feasts, and also on conversations and interviews "in the field" with several specialists of the fruit festival. The text follows the dynamics of the feast itself, interspersing acts and scenes, showing the various actors in their specific roles as fruit gatherers, atur??s bearers, promoters of protection ceremonies, storytellers, singers, dancers, blowers, and players of musical instruments. A festa das frutas, yukurika basore, apresenta uma abordagem antropol??gica das cerim??nias rituais protagonizados pelos ??t??pinopona (Tuyuka) do alto rio Negro, noroeste amaz??nico. O palco dessa festa ?? a regi??o fronteiri??a entre Brasil e Col??mbia, denominada de ???tri??ngulo tukano???, constitu??da pelos distritos de Pari-Cachoeira, Taracu?? e Iauaret??, no munic??pio de S??o Gabriel da Cachoeira, Amazonas ???
