Objective: This single-center study aimed to assess the incidence and predictors of carotid artery Xact stent fractures (SF) and their impact on in-stent restenosis (ISR) during long-term follow-up. Methods: A cohort of 108 patients (97 males, median age 69.4±8 months) who underwent Xact stent placement for internal carotid artery stenosis between 2013 and 2021 and were diagnosed with SFs through fluoroscopy in 2022 were included. SFs were categorized as types I-V based on fracture characteristics. Follow-up included duplex ultrasound examinations to assess stent patency. Results: The average follow-up duration was 49.2±24.3 months, with ISR observed in 10 patients. Abstract Solar photovoltaic energy is a vital renewable resource because it is clean, endless, and pollution‐free. Due to the fast growth of the semiconductor and power electronics sectors, photovoltaic (PV) technologies are climbing significant attention in modern electrical power applications. Operating PV energy conversion systems at the maximum power point is essential for getting the maximum power output and raising efficiency. This paper proposes a regression‐based Perturb and Observe method to quickly find a global maximum power point, avoiding being stuck in local maxima, likewise analytical and metaheuristic methods. The improved control focuses on the narrowed search areas by linear and non‐linear regression analyses using the generated PV model on a flexible Python environment. Furthermore, the method's accuracy is validated in real time under variable temperatures, irradiations, and loads. This method was proven with a hardware implementation. The proposed method is more than 98% accurate and can withstand long‐term modelling. The suggested regression‐based perturbation and observation method provided a short learning time and easy implementation. Additionally, the dynamic recorded results can be visualized for researchers to utilize efficiently.

Background: Optic neuritis, myelitis, and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) have been associated with antibodies against myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein-immunoglobulin G (anti-MOG-IgG). Furthermore, patients with radiological and demographic features atypical for multiple sclerosis (MS) with optic neuritis and myelitis also demonstrate antibodies against aquaporin-4 and anti-MOG-IgG. However, data on the diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and prognosis in patients with anti-MOG-IgG are limited. Aims: To evaluate the clinical, radiological, and demographic characteristics of patients with anti-MOG-IgG. Study Design: Multicenter, retrospective, observational study. Methods: Patients with blood samples demonstrating anti-MOG-IgG that had been evaluated at the Neuroimmunology laboratory at Ondokuz Mayıs University’s Faculty of Medicine were included in the study. Results: Of the 104 patients with anti-MOG-IgG, 56.7% were women and 43.3% were men. Approximately 2.4% of the patients were diagnosed with MS, 15.8% with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), 39.4% with NMOSD, 31.3% with isolated optic neuritis, and 11.1% with isolated myelitis. Approximately 53.1% of patients with spinal involvement at clinical onset demonstrated a clinical course of NMOSD. Thereafter, 8.8% of these patients demonstrated a clinical course similar to MS and ADEM, and 28.1% demonstrated a clinical course of isolated myelitis. The response to acute attack treatment was lower and the disability was higher in patients aged > 40 years than patients aged < 40 years at clinical onset. Oligoclonal band was detected in 15.5% of the patients. Conclusion: For patients with NMOSD and without anti-NMO antibodies, the diagnosis is supported by the presence of anti-MOG-IgG. Furthermore, advanced age at clinical onset, Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score at clinical onset, spinal cord involvement, and number of attacks may be negative prognostic factors in patients with anti-MOG-IgG.

The Metaverse is a regenerated digital environment that fully immerses people in a virtual world experience. It is often referred to as the "internet of the future" and has drawn the interest of businesses and academics as well. An analysis was carried out utilizing Second Life as a platform in order to investigate this idea and comprehend consumers' motivations to purchase. 267 valid responses to a web-based survey using judgment and convenience sampling were obtained. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS 20 to assess the validity and reliability of the seven-dimension Technology Acceptance Model. Multiple regression modeling, validity and reliability analyses, and descriptive statistics have been carried out. The study's other hypotheses, such as the benefits of telepresence on trust, perceived usefulness, and enjoyment; perceived ease of use on perceived usefulness; perceived usefulness on attitudes; trust on attitudes; perceived social presence on trust and enjoyment; and enjoyment on attitudes in Second Life, were supported by the findings, even though the hypothesis that perceived social presence positively influenced perceived usefulness in Second Life was not supported. This research provides insights into the Metaverse and its users' virtual product purchase intentions, shedding light on its potential impact on future internet experiences.

Abstract Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a heterogeneous spectrum of clonal hematopoietic disorders with varying degrees of cytopenia and morphologic dysplasia. The hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet (HALP) score is a prognostic marker in several types of malignant tumors. Prognostic value of HALP score remains unclear for MDS. To determine the prognostic value of baseline HALP score in MDS. We retrospectively analyzed data from 130 newly diagnosed MDS patients evaluated and classified under HALP score. By the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, the optimal cut-off value of HALP was > 67.5 in predicting mortality. Patients were divided into two groups: with low and high HALP scores, and the characteristics were compared between both groups. Patients’ median age was 68 (19–84) years, and 79 (60.8%) were male. Higher HALP score was detected in MDS patients with intermediate-risk under IPSS score, and at high and very high risks under IPSS-R score, and those receiving azacitidine (AZA) treatment. The survival rates of those with a HALP score > 67.5 were significantly lower than those with low HALP score at 17.77 ± 3.98 (median ± SE) (p 67.5 were found as 25, 18, and 11%, respectively. Median overall survival (OS) was also determined as 33.10 (95% CI 16.34–49.88) months by the Kaplan–Meier method. HALP score has shown an ability to be a useful prognostic biomarker in various cancers, including MDS. The meaningful cut-off value of HALP is disease-specific and largely study-specific. High HALP score is associated with unfavorable clinicopathological characteristics. Also, it may be useful in predicting OS and mortality of MDS.

Abstract Background Despite progress understanding the mechanisms underlying tumor spread, metastasis remains a clinical challenge. We identified the choline-producing glycerophosphodiesterase, EDI3 and reported its association with metastasis-free survival in endometrial cancer. We also observed that silencing EDI3 slowed cell migration and other cancer-relevant phenotypes in vitro. Recent work demonstrated high EDI3 expression in ER-HER2+ breast cancer compared to the other molecular subtypes. Silencing EDI3 in ER-HER2+ cells significantly reduced cell survival in vitro and decreased tumor growth in vivo. However, a role for EDI3 in tumor metastasis in this breast cancer subtype was not explored. Therefore, in the present work we investigate whether silencing EDI3 in ER-HER2+ breast cancer cell lines alters phenotypes linked to metastasis in vitro, and metastasis formation in vivo using mouse models of experimental metastasis. Methods To inducibly silence EDI3, luciferase-expressing HCC1954 cells were transduced with lentiviral particles containing shRNA oligos targeting EDI3 under the control of doxycycline. The effect on cell migration, adhesion, colony formation and anoikis was determined in vitro, and significant findings were confirmed in a second ER-HER2+ cell line, SUM190PT. Doxycycline-induced HCC1954-luc shEDI3 cells were injected into the tail vein or peritoneum of immunodeficient mice to generate lung and peritoneal metastases, respectively and monitored using non-invasive bioluminescence imaging. Metabolite levels in cells and tumor tissue were analyzed using targeted mass spectrometry and MALDI mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI), respectively. Results Inducibly silencing EDI3 reduced cell adhesion and colony formation, as well as increased susceptibility to anoikis in HCC1954-luc cells, which was confirmed in SUM190PT cells. No influence on cell migration was observed. Reduced luminescence was seen in lungs and peritoneum of mice injected with cells expressing less EDI3 after tail vein and intraperitoneal injection, respectively, indicative of reduced metastasis. Importantly, mice injected with EDI3-silenced cells survived longer. Closer analysis of the peritoneal organs revealed that silencing EDI3 had no effect on metastatic organotropism but instead reduced metastatic burden. Finally, metabolic analyses revealed significant changes in choline and glycerophospholipid metabolites in cells and in pancreatic metastases in vivo. Conclusions Reduced metastasis upon silencing supports EDI3’s potential as a treatment target in metastasizing ER-HER2+ breast cancer.

Abstract By mimicking the neurons and synapses of the human brain and employing spiking neural networks on neuromorphic chips, neuromorphic computing offers a promising energy-efficient machine intelligence. How to borrow high-level brain dynamic mechanisms to help neuromorphic computing achieve energy advantages is a fundamental issue. This work presents an application-oriented algorithm-software-hardware co-designed neuromorphic system for this issue. First, we design and fabricate an asynchronous chip called “Speck”, a sensing-computing neuromorphic system on chip. With the low processor resting power of 0.42mW, Speck can satisfy the hardware requirements of dynamic computing: no-input consumes no energy. Second, we uncover the “dynamic imbalance” in spiking neural networks and develop an attention-based framework for achieving the algorithmic requirements of dynamic computing: varied inputs consume energy with large variance. Together, we demonstrate a neuromorphic system with real-time power as low as 0.70mW. This work exhibits the promising potentials of neuromorphic computing with its asynchronous event-driven, sparse, and dynamic nature.

This study aims to determine the proof schemes used by primary education teacher candidates when solving a given problem and in their instructional explanations. Having a qualitative nature, the study utilized data collected from 277 third-year teacher candidates studying at the primary education department of the education faculty of a state university in Ankara. The study group was selected via criterion sampling. The data were tested by using an open-ended problem case and analyzed via document analysis. The proofs used by students in solving the problem and in instructional explanations were categorized as Proof A, Proof B...Proof H, and the data were evaluated in these categories. The results obtained were discussed in line with the proof schemes outlined by Harel and Sowder (1998). However, as certain proofs fell into several categories, they could not be evaluated in only one group. The primary education teacher candidates were found to use authoritative, habitual and symbolic proof schemes, albeit to a little extent, in the external proof scheme category as they solved the given problem situation and explained the solution to their students. The majority of the candidates used the empirical proof scheme known as the perceptual proof scheme, and included some sample-based proofs. Analytical proof schemes were used less frequently than others. The candidates were also found to use invalid and flawed proofs. Similar studies may be replicated with problem situations involving different subjects.

In recent years, the importance of educational games for students is increasing. Therefore, the points of view of students about educational games are among the issues that gain importance. In this study, a scale was developed that determines students' perceptions of educational games. For this purpose, after a literature review, a 33-item question pool was created by a field specialist. The draft scale was prepared and applied to 445 students studying at secondary school, and after that exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was applied to the obtained data. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, 10 items collected under 2 factors explained 55.71% of the total variance. These factors were grouped as 'mental adaptation' and 'physical adaptation'. The Cronbach-Alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale, which was finalized by factor analysis, was found to be [alpha] = 0.90. These results show that the scale is valid and reliable. Analysis results show that the developed scale can be used to determine students' perceptions about educational games.

The present study aimed to determine the estimation skills of elementary education pre-service mathematics teachers and the strategies they adopt in estimation. The case study methodology was employed in the study, and the participants included 37 volunteering students attending the fourth grade in the Primary Education Mathematics Instruction Department at a university located in the Central Anatolia Region in Turkey. The study data were collected with an 8-item Estimation Strategy Test developed by the authors. The test included numerosity, computational, and measurement estimation questions. In addition to making estimations, the students were asked to write the reasons behind their estimations. The descriptive analysis technique was employed to analyze the study data, and the data were coded based on the estimation strategies adopted by the pre-service teachers and similarity of their estimations with the actual values. The data are presented as MAXQDA maps, and excerpts from student responses are also presented. The study findings demonstrated that the responses of most pre-service teachers were similar to the actual value in computational estimations; however, numerosity or measurement estimations were not similar. Furthermore, certain pre-service teachers inclined to conduct the actual operation instead of estimating the results during computational estimation, and directly counted the results in numerosity estimation. Also, it was determined that a significant number of pre-service teachers made computational errors in numerosity and computational estimation. Even though there are numerous studies on environmental education in the literature, they are limited to investigate the effects of stories. In this context, this research aimed to investigate the views of fifth grade Turkish students concerning environmental problems through storytelling. In accordance with this aim, action research has carried out. The study was conducted with 35 students enrolled in a middle school. Four stories related to different environmental topics were told participants during four weeks. Qualitative data were obtained through focus group interviews supported by data analysis of word association test (WAT). WAT included six key words was applied as pre- and post-WAT. The frequency tables and concept networks were constructed based on WAT results. Participants discussed the effects of environmental problems, the consequences of environmental problems, and environmental protection through focus group interviews. According to the WAT results, students mostly associated "human" with "environmental problem" and "environmental pollution". They also used of ecological terms increased at the end of intervention.

Distance learning process was initiated by the Ministry of National Education to allow equal opportunity and to improve accessibility, and the teachers provided online courses, exams or material. In the present study, conducted to determine the views of mathematics teachers, who are among the stakeholders in the process, on their experiences in online instruction of the mathematics course in secondary schools, phenomenology approach, a qualitative research method, was employed. The findings of the present study conducted with 105 secondary school mathematics teachers employed in seven regions in Turkey demonstrated that the middle school mathematics teachers considered distance education an obligation to continue mathematics courses and to maintain the communication with their students. It was also observed that the teachers believed that it would be difficult to instruct the mathematics course online due to its nature. It was determined that the predominant view argued that distance education allowed instruction of the course independent of the time and the place, and hence an advantage of the process, but the teachers also stated that distance education had certain cognitive, affective, technical and social disadvantages. The teachers complained that technical problems such as internet access and lack of tablets led to a difficult process.

This research aims to explore the association between personality traits, character strength, and flourishing in university students (N=384). In the study, Three-dimensional Character Strengths Scale was adapted to Turkish. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, the Three-dimensional Character Strengths Scale was acceptable for the goodness of fit indexes. The results of the study showed that personality traits and character strength were positively related to flourishing. Multiple regression analysis revealed that personality traits, with the exception of the openness, significantly predicted flourishing. According to the standardized beta coefficients, extraversion was found to be the strongest predictor of flourishing. According to the results of multi-regression analysis, it was found that the caring, inquisitiveness and self-control sub-dimensions of the character strengths positively predicted the flourishing. According to the standardized beta coefficients, inquisitiveness was found to be the strongest predictor of flourishing. According to the t test results, it was found that the variables included in the study differed significantly according to gender. The findings were discussed with the literature.

The study aims to develop a scale for determining the stereotyped thoughts of primary school classroom and elementary science teacher candidates toward science courses. Descriptive survey model, one of the quantitative research patterns, is used since the study follows the process of scale development. In sample determination, first stratified sampling and then easily accessible sampling method are used. The study groups consist of 611 pre-service teachers, wherein 302 was for Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) while 309 was for Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). For the validity of the scale, the number of content validity rate (CVR) was determined in line with the opinions of 14 experts and the scale items were arranged. For the construct validity of the scale, EFA was performed and total item correlation and item factor loadings were found to be at the desired level. As a result of the validity-reliability analysis of the study by adopting a Likert-type scale development model, a 28-item scale structure with Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficient 0.81, consisting of five factors, was obtained, which explains 58.63% of the total variance.

Thoughts that direct individuals' feelings and behaviors within certain non-functional patterns are called stereotyped thoughts. Stereotypes can be positive or negative and it is thought that individuals' stereotyped thoughts towards a phenomenon would affect the other individuals with whom they interact. Based on the idea that student and teacher interaction has a critical importance on academic achievement, the study aims to examine the stereotyped thoughts of teacher candidates' towards science courses on the basis of their gender, academic achievements and the department they are studying. The study group consists of 1627 teacher candidates from seven universities in Turkey. As a data collection tool, the "Stereotypical Thought Scale for Science Lessons" developed by Demirci Güler and Irmak (2020) was used. It is seen that the qualitative value range of teacher candidates' stereotyped thoughts towards science is "indecisive" with 3.18. It has been found that teacher candidates' stereotyped thoughts about science courses differ according to their gender and department they study at, but not according to their academic achievement scores.

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of concept maps on the academic achievements of Biology teacher candidates and the elimination of misconceptions comparing the method with the traditional rote learning method. The quasi-experimental design, specifically, the pre- and post-test control group type was used in this research to address the research questions. The research was carried out with 60 Biology teacher candidates. Achievement test and diagnostic test were used as data collection tools throughout the research. SPSS version 20 software was used to analyze the obtained quantitative data. Independent samples t-test was used to determine, whether there was a significant difference between the control and experimental group students' level of prior knowledge regarding the subject of protein synthesis. The findings revealed no statistically significant difference between the groups in pre-test (? > 0.05). However, the findings revealed a statistically significant difference between the groups, in the post-test, in favor of the concept map method used for the experiment group (? < 0.05). The increase in the post-test scores of the experiment group students indicated that the teaching method based on concept maps positively affected the students' academic achievement and elimination of misconceptions. Research indicated that students could not establish a correct relationship between the concepts of DNA, RNA, mRNA, tRNA, rRNA, nucleus, chromosome, gene, genetic code, codon, anticodon, translation, transcription, ribosome, protein, and amino acid terms taught in protein synthesis subject. It was concluded that the areas of use for concept maps should not be limited as a teaching tool, but should be further extended to for determining misconceptions, eliminating misconceptions, and evaluating the instruction.

IntroductionCurrent evidence suggests that early maladaptive schemas are affected in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Most of the studies on the subject have been conducted with adults, but the number of studies conducted with adolescents with ADHD is quite limited. The aim of this study was to evaluate early maladaptive schemas in adolescents diagnosed with ADHD.MethodsThe study included 66 patients diagnosed with ADHD and 70 healthy adolescents who were similar to the case group in terms of age and gender. Clinical evaluation of the case and control groups were performed with "The Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-Age Children-Present and Lifetime Version, DSM-5 November 2016-Turkish Adaptation (K-SADS-PL-DSM-5-T)". "Conners-Wells Adolescent Self-Report Scale - Revised Short Form (CASS-RS)" and "Set of Early Maladaptive Schema Questionnaires for Children and Adolescents between the ages of 10-16" were administered to all participants.ResultsIt was determined that the schema scores of "dependence/incompetence", "vulnerability to harm or illness", "entitlement/grandiosity", "insufficient self-control", "subjugation" were significantly higher in the ADHD group than in the control group. A negative, significant relationship was found between age and "enmeshment/undeveloped self", "entitlement/grandiosity" and "insufficient self-control" schema scores. There was no significant difference between schema scores in terms of gender in the ADHD group. Additionally, no significant relationship was found between the education level of the parents, family income levels and schema scores. A significant positive relationship was found between the CASS-RS scores and all schema scores. As a result of the regression analysis, it was determined that CASS-RS scores positively predicted all schema scores, while the age variable negatively predicted only the schema scores of "enmeshment/undeveloped self".DiscussionResults of this study showed that there were significant differences in adolescents in the ADHD group compared to the control group in terms of early maladaptive schemas, and that ADHD symptom levels was associated with early maladaptive schemas.

It was aimed to isolate Escherichia coli from infected trouts in different farms, and to investigate antibiotic susceptibility profiles and antibiotic resistance genes of these isolates. Identification processes were carried out according to ISO 6887–3:2017 and ISO 16654:2001 guidelines. Antimicrobial susceptibility was tested according to the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines. Extended–spectrum beta–lactamase (ESBL) resistant strains were investigated by the Modified Double Disc Synergy Test (MDDST) method. The specific regions of 15 genes were analyzed by the real–time PCR system. As a result, 24 isolations were performed from different tissues belonging to eight out of 108 diseased trouts. The highest phenotypical resistance status was found against penicillins (ampicillin 100%, amoxicillin 91.67%) and first–generation cephalosporins (cefazolin 100%). Phenotypic resistance rates of amoxicillin–clavulanate, nalidixic acid, and erythromycin were 83,33%, tetracycline was 75%, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, cefepime, and ciprofloxacin were 66,67%, trimethoprim‐sulfamethoxazole was 50%, and chloramphenicol and gentamycin were 33.33%. Phenotypical resistances for amikacin and imipenem were detected at the level of 16.67%. In addition, ESBL production was detected phenotypically in 12 (50%) out of 24 E. coli isolates. The highest antimicrobial resistance gene rate was 58.33% for tetA. Gene regions of sull, ermB, ermF, qnrB, suIll, qnrS, and tetB were detected at 50%, 50%, 50%, 33.33%, 25%,16.67%, and 16.67% respectively. None of the isolates included the gene region of the qnrA, qnrC, qnrD, and qepA. ESBL–producing genes, blaTEM, blaCTX, and blaSHV were detected at 33.33%, 33.33%, and 16.67% respectively. In conclusion, E. coli contamination of the water can cause infections among fish and increase the agent’s antimicrobial resistance. Resistant strains of E. coli cannot only cause financial damage to create yield loss but also can threaten human health by causing infections throughout the food chain.

Addressing the expanding Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) landscape is crucial for governments, enterprises and threat intelligence research groups. While defenders often rely on tabular formats for assets like logs, alerts, firewall rules; attackers leverage a graph-based mindset. In this work, we propose a novel multistage framework named APT-Scope which employs a comprehensive approach to Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) analysis on qualified real-world data. APT-Scope workflow consists of data gathering, enrichment, and analysis stages, where relationships between entities are used to construct a Heterogeneous Information Network (HIN). We applied CTI enrichment using additional active data collection techniques like DNS and Whois lookups, port scans, SSL footprinting, named entity recognition via SpaCy, and constructed a machine learning pipeline to predict relationships between entities using FastRP and Logistic Regression. By analyzing the resulting HIN, we discovered aliases for APT groups and predicted threat actors of APT attacks with unknown perpetrators. We observed AUCPR metrics as train score = 96.57% and test score = 92.36%. Our work is beneficial to oversee the entire APT landscape, steer ongoing and future CTI operations and make strategic decisions.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of home confinement as a result of lockdown on physical the activity (physical activity and dietary behaviors), and their determinants, on Turkey high school students (14-18 years). Methods: A total of 490 students (mean age = 16.40 ± 1.75) participated in the study. An online questionnaire consisting of sociodemographic data, nutritional behavior and physical activity habits was applied to the participants. He compared physical activity level (PA), dietary behavior (DB), and sitting time before and during lockdown. Results: BMI (kg/m2) has increased compared to before Covid-19, Physical activity levels of high school students decreased (p < 0.001), increased more their sitting time during lockdown (0.041***), eating habits changed (0.310***). Conclusion: Our data show that high school students are affected by isolation and lockdown and exhibit negative behavioral changes.

This study aimed to examine the views of preservice science teachers on concept map use in a General Chemistry II class. The study was conducted with 47 preservice science teachers. In the study, an interview form grounded on determining their views on concept maps and comprised of open-ended questions, was used as the data collection tool. In analysis of the data acquired, content analysis was performed. As a result of the analysis of the data, the preservice teachers expressed positive views on concept map use. They stated that it might contribute to their learning and increase the permanence of the knowledge learned. Furthermore, they reported that they liked creating concept maps and among the concept map types they usually chose to create hierarchical concept maps. Most of the preservice teachers stated that they had to know the subject related to the concept map very well to create concept maps more easily, otherwise they might have a difficulty in the concept map creation process and thus concept maps should generally be used after a lecture. In addition the preservice teachers stated that they intended to use concept maps in their teaching experience. As a result, before concept maps are used in teaching, it is recommended to inform students about the creation of concept maps, to use them for re-purpose in teaching activities, and to include activities containing concept maps in textbooks.
