This study aims to compare the effects of three calcium compounds on the workability, setting time and mechanical properties of red mud (RM)–blast furnace slag (BFS)-based geopolymers. The crystalline phase, hydration process and microstructure of RM-BFS-based geopolymers were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), heat evolution, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) tests. The results showed that an appropriate amount of calcium compounds can improve the flowability and compressive strength of the geopolymers, but the excessiveness causes a decrease in strength due to rapid hardening. Other than calcium carbonate, both calcium oxide and calcium chloride played important roles in accelerating the setting times of RM-BFS-based geopolymers. The acceleration in the setting times of geopolymers could be attributed to the calcium hydroxide produced by the dissolution of the calcium compounds, which also provides nucleation sites for the geopolymerization reaction. In response to the complex working conditions and poor driving stability of high-clearance self-propelled sprayers, a nonlinear model of the chassis power system was established based on the independently controllable torque of each wheel of the developed electric sprayer. A layered-architecture chassis drive control strategy was formulated, and a stability control framework comprising an instability judgment module, an upper controller, and a lower controller was constructed based on the analysis of the impact of the centroid slip angle, the yaw rate, and the wheel slip rate on driving stability. An ideal reference model was established based on the seven-degree-of-freedom model of the sprayer, and the current state of the sprayer body was determined using the instability judgment module. A drive anti-slip controller and a yaw moment controller based on fuzzy PID theory and sliding mode control theory were designed. Additionally, an optimal torque distribution algorithm was developed based on tire characteristics to rationally allocate drive torque to each wheel, ensuring the stability of the sprayer during operation. Simulation tests were conducted using MATLAB/Simulink to evaluate the sprayer under four different driving conditions during transport and field operations. The test results showed that the "SMC + optimal distribution" control method in the chassis stability control strategy reduced the maximum deviations of the yaw rate and centroid slip angle by an average of 89.5% and 13.6%, respectively, compared to no control. Triethylamine is a common volatile organic compound (VOC) that plays an important role in areas such as organic solvents, chemical industries, dyestuffs, and leather treatments. However, exposure to triethylamine atmosphere can pose a serious threat to human health. In this study, gas-sensing semiconductor materials of LaFeO3 nano materials with different Mo-doping ratios were synthesized by the sol–gel method. The crystal structures, micro morphologies, and surface states of the prepared samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, and XPS, respectively. The gas-sensing tests showed that the Mo doping enhanced the gas-sensing performance of LaFeO3. Especially, the 4% Mo-doped LaFeO3 exhibited the highest response towards triethylamine (TEA) gas, a value approximately 11 times greater than that of pure LaFeO3. Meantime, the 4% Mo-doped LaFeO3 sensor showed a remarkably robust linear correlation between the response and the concentration (R2 = 0.99736). In addition, the selectivity, stability, response/recovery time, and moisture-proof properties were evaluated. Finally, the gas-sensing mechanism is discussed. This study provides an idea for exploring a new type of efficient and low-cost metal-doped LaFeO3 sensor to monitor the concentration of triethylamine gas for the purpose of safeguarding human health and safety. The high-resolution 3D groundwater flow and transport simulation problem requires massive discrete linear systems to be solved, leading to significant computational time and memory requirements. The domain decomposition method is a promising technique that facilitates the parallelization of problems with minimal communication overhead by dividing the computation domain into multiple subdomains. However, directly utilizing a domain decomposition scheme to solve massive linear systems becomes impractical due to the bottleneck in algebraic operations required to coordinate the results of subdomains. In this paper, we propose a two-level domain decomposition method, named dual-domain decomposition, to efficiently solve the massive discrete linear systems in high-resolution 3D groundwater simulations. The first level of domain decomposition partitions the linear system problem into independent linear sub-problems across multiple subdomains, enabling parallel solutions with significantly reduced complexity. The second level introduces a domain decomposition preconditioner to solve the linear system, known as the Schur system, used to coordinate results from subdomains across their boundaries. This additional level of decomposition parallelizes the preconditioning of the Schur system, addressing the bottleneck of the Schur system solution while improving its convergence rates. The dual-domain decomposition method facilitates the partition and distribution of the computation to be solved into independent finely grained computational subdomains, substantially reducing both computational and memory complexity. We demonstrate the scalability of our proposed method through its application to a high-resolution 3D simulation of chromium contaminant transport in groundwater. Our results indicate that our method outperforms both the vanilla domain decomposition method and the algebraic multigrid preconditioned method in terms of runtime, achieving up to 8.617× and 5.515× speedups, respectively, in solving massive problems with approximately 108 million degrees of freedom. Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), as primary platforms, have significantly contributed to underwater surveys in scientific and military fields. Enhancing the maneuverability of autonomous underwater vehicles is crucial to their development. This study presents a novel vectored thruster and an optimized blade design approach to meet the design requirements of a specially shaped AUV. Determining the ideal blade characteristics involves selecting a maximum diameter of 0.18 m and configuring the number of blades to be four. Furthermore, the blades of the AUV were set to rotate at a speed of 1400 revolutions per minute (RPM). The kinematics of the thrust-vectoring mechanism was theoretically analyzed. A propulsive force test of the vectored thruster with ductless and ducted propellers was performed to evaluate its performance. A ductless propeller without an annular wing had a higher propulsive efficiency with a maximum thrust of 115 N. Open-loop control was applied to an AUV in a water tank, exhibiting a maximum velocity of 0.98 m/s and a pitch angle of 53°. The maximum rate of heading angle was 14.26°/s. The test results demonstrate that the specially designed thrust-vectoring mechanism notably enhances the effectiveness of AUVs at low forward speeds. In addition, tests conducted in offshore waters for depth and heading control validated the vectored thruster's capability to fulfill the AUV's motion control requirements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
