In this paper, a novel red-emitting persistent phosphor, Cd3Ga2Ge3O12:Pr3+, was successfully synthesized by the traditional method of a solid-phase reaction. The phase purity, photoluminescence, and persistent luminescence were successfully studied in detail. It was revealed that the photoluminescence spectra of as-prepared samples exhibit a series of emission peaks centered at 478, 561, 610, and 660 nm, corresponding to the 3P0 → 3H4, 3P2 → 3H6, 3P0 → 3H6, and 3P0 → 3H4 transitions of Pr3+, respectively. It was noted that the persistent luminescence of Cd3Ga2Ge3O12:0.0015Pr3+ could be recorded for 5580 s, showing excellent luminescent properties. Accordingly, with the help of thermoluminescence spectra, a feasible mechanism for the Cd3Ga2Ge3O12:Pr3+ sample is proposed and explored to explain its excellent persistent luminescence properties. AbstractPrimary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare and aggressive lymphoma that is isolated in the central nervous system (CNS) or vitreoretinal space. High-dose methotrexate (HD-MTX)-based immunochemotherapy is the frontline for its treatment, with a high early response rate. However, relapsed or refractory (R/R) patients present numerous difficulties and challenges in clinical treatment. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cells offer a promising option for the treatment of hematologic malignancies, especially in the R/R B-cell lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Despite the exclusion of most PCNSL cases from pivotal CAR-T cell trials due to their specific tumor microenvironment (TME), available preclinical and clinical studies with small cohorts suggest an overall acceptable safety profile and remarkable anti-tumor effects. In this review, we will provide the development process of CAR-T cells and summarize the research progress, limitations, and future perspectives of CAR-T cell therapy in patients with R/R PCNSL. This paper is motivated by the dilemma faced by firms who sell new and remanufactured products offline that need to consider whether to enter e-commerce platforms considering that more and more consumers are shopping online on e-commerce platforms rather than shopping offline. Our paper aims to help firms with new and remanufactured products make a channel choice and determine product pricing strategies in the contexts of e-commerce and carbon tax policy. Our paper uses optimization theory, game theory, utility functions and profit-maximization models to investigate the optimal channel choice of whether a firm should enter an e-commerce platform; it also investigates the optimal prices of new and remanufactured products and referral fees in two cases—the firm does not enter the platform (N) and the firm enters the platform (Y). Some insights are presented as follows: We found that the firm should enter the platform if the annual service fee is relatively low, otherwise, the firm should not enter the platform. Interestingly, in the case of a firm with an offline store with relatively large operational costs or hassle costs, the firm is more reluctant to enter the platform. In the extension, we considered some consumers who only purchase offline products, and found that the firm considering these consumers is more likely to choose not to enter the platform. Moreover, we argue that the carbon tax policy has a positive effect on product prices but a negative effect on referral fees charged by the platform, and the choice of Y hurts the environment due to a relatively high total carbon emission. Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis (HSPN) is a common vasculitis that mostly affects children, and previous studies have indicated that genetic factors may influence disease susceptibility. The aim of this study was to evaluate a possible association of three interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene polymorphisms (rs3136534, rs2069776, and rs2069762) with HSPN in the Chinese population. A total of 81 patients with HSPN and 200 healthy children were enrolled. The distribution of genotypes, allelic frequencies, and haplotype frequencies among the three IL-2 polymorphisms were analyzed using the Sequenom MassARRAY system by means of matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry method. Compared to the healthy controls, genotyping analysis demonstrated rs3136534 was associated with a decreased HSPN risk in the dominant inheritance model (G/T+T/T vs. G/G; OR, 0.54; 95% CI, 0.31-0.93). However, the frequency of the T allele and haplotypes of rs3136534 showed no statistical significance. For the frequency of genotype, allele, and haplotype of the rs2069776 and rs20697622 polymorphisms, no significant differences were observed between HSPN patients and controls. Our results suggest that the rs3136534 polymorphism of the IL-2 gene is associated with susceptibility to HSPN in Chinese children.

Luminescent anti-counterfeiting materials have drawn much attention in anti-counterfeiting applications due to their photochemical stability and emission patterns. However, conventional materials majorly use single-mode luminescence, leaving a growing demand for new materials to prevent counterfeiting. In this work, multi-mode anti-counterfeiting is guaranteed from a single luminescent material CaCd 2 Ga 2 Ge 3 O 12 :Tb 3+ ,Yb 3+ via a high-temperature solid-state reaction. The experimental result showed that this single material features green luminescence with excellent photoluminescence, afterglow, thermoluminescence, and up-conversion luminescence, which are ascribed to Tb 3+ transitions. Upon co-doping with Yb 3+ as a sensitiser, the photo-stimuli responsiveness was achieved at 254 and 980 nm excitation sources, respectively, and the thermo-stimuli responsiveness was realised after exposure to UV of 254 nm for 10 s and heating at 45 °C, respectively. The band structure calculation, trap distribution, and effective trap depths were used to explain the luminescence mechanism. Based on the two-stimuli responsiveness and four-state emission performance, we prepared images of optical devices using silk screen printing technology. It was found that the images displayed green emission under different luminescence modes. The results prove that we successfully constructed an advanced luminescence anti-counterfeiting material.

The continuously growing significance of information security and authentication has put forward many new requirements and challenges for modern luminescent materials and anti-counterfeiting technologies. Recently, luminescent materials have attracted much attention in this field owing to their legibility, repeatability, multicolor, and multiple stimuli-responsive nature. In this work, the efficient multicolor and multimodal luminescence material CaCd 2 Ga 2 Ge 3 O 12 :Mn 2+ was successfully designed and synthesized using the strategy of single-doped Mn 2+ in a single matrix. Also, we combined the morphology, crystal structure, energy band calculation, luminescence properties, and trap analysis to study the optical data storage capacity of CaCd 2 Ga 2 Ge 3 O 12 :Mn 2+ . Interestingly, in the presence of the 254 nm UV lamp, the sample can exhibit a tunable emission color from bule to cyan to yellow by increasing the dopant concentration of Mn 2+ . Also, under the afterglow and thermoluminescence luminescence modes, it presented strong yellow emission centered at 558 nm. Based on the advantage of multiple tunable luminescence, samples were made into anti-counterfeiting ink and were used to print four optical devices through the screen printing technology. The results show that the material has excellent multicolor anti-counterfeiting properties under the three luminescence modes, which has contributed to the development of many kinds of luminescent anti-counterfeiting materials for security purposes.

Background: Histone-like proteins are small molecular weight DNA-binding proteins that are widely distributed in prokaryotes. These proteins have multiple functions in cellular structures and processes, including the morphological stability of the nucleoid, DNA compactness, DNA replication, and DNA repair. Deinococcus radiodurans, an extremophilic microorganism, has extraordinary DNA repair capability and encodes an essential histone-like protein, DrHU., Objective: We aim to investigate the phosphorylation regulation role of a histone-like HU protein from Deinococcus radiodurans., Methods: LC-MS/MS analysis was used to determine the phosphorylation site of endogenous DrHU. The predicted structure of DrHU-DNA was obtained from homology modeling (Swissmodel) using Staphylococcus aureus HU-DNA structure (PDB ID: 4QJU) as the starting model. Two types of mutant proteins T37E and T37A were generated to explore their DNA binding affinity. Complemented-knockout strategy was used to generate the ΔDrHU/pk-T37A and ΔDrHU/pk-T37E strains for growth curves and phenotypical analyses., Results and Discussion: The phosphorylation site Thr37, which is present in most bacterial HU proteins, is located at the putative protein-DNA interaction interface of DrHU. Compared to the wild-type protein, one in which this threonine is replaced by glutamate to mimic a permanent state of phosphorylation (T37E) showed enhanced double-stranded DNA binding but a weakened protective effect against hydroxyl radical cleavage. The synthesis of a dimeric base-stabilized cobaltosilylene complex and its catalytic reactions are described. Treatment of the amidinato silicon(I) dimer [LSi:] 2 (1; L=PhC(NtBu) 2 ) with CoBr 2 in toluene for 10 days afforded the dimeric amidinato cobaltosilylene [(LSi)μ-{CoBr(LSiBr)}] 2 (2), which is speculated to proceed via "LSiCoBr" and "LSiBr" intermediates in the reaction. Compound 2 is paramagnetic, with an effective magnetic moment of 2.8 μB. Its electronic structure was elucidated by single-crystal X-ray crystallography and DFT studies. It was capable of catalyzing C-H bond functionalization, in which a combination of 2, phosphine and MeMgI can regio- and stereoselectively promoted the addition of the C≡C triple bonds in alkynes to the ortho-C-H position in arylpyridines. Aims: The aim of this study is to investigate whether red cell distribution width (RDW) is associated with renal function damage in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) of children in China., Methods: We used urine albumin-creatinine ratio to define microalbuminuria (MAU). A total of 170 patients were recruited in the study including 88 patients with MAU and 82 patients without MAU. Clinical and laboratory data of two groups were compared., Results: The present study demonstrated that the RDW values were significantly higher in patients with MAU than those without MAU. Multivariate logistic regression indicated that RDW was an independent risk factor for renal function damage in T1DM. The receiver operating characteristic curves were used to investigate the relationship between MAU and RDW, the area under the curve was 0.75. Using the cut-off point of 12.8, RDW predicts renal function damage in T1DM patients with a sensitivity of 75.8% and a specificity of 58.2%., Conclusion: In this study, we suggested that RDW could be used as an effective predictor of diabetic early renal function damage or diabetes-related complications., (© 2018 by the Association of Clinical Scientists, Inc.)
