Practice teaching is an important part of innovation and entrepreneurship curriculum system in colleges and universities and also an important link of practice training. From the connotation of innovation and entrepreneurship practice teaching and according to the three principles of goal, effectiveness and innovation, this paper puts forward some suggestions on the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship practice teaching from six aspects such as the organizational structure, teaching staff, management means, base construction, fund input and evaluation mechanism, which can provide reference for the cultivation of innovation and entrepreneurship talents in colleges and universities. A novel family of thiophene-decorated phthalocyanines (M-TPcs) was efficiently synthesized, during which the key intermediate of these compounds was purified through a chemical approach. In the optimized geometries of M-TPcs, the peripherally linked thiophene rings are tilted from the Pc core, which oppose aggregation considering the mutual steric hindrance. However, Zn-TPc formed J-aggregates in many solvents while Ni-TPc and Cu-TPc did not. Octaphenyl-substituted zinc Pc (Zn-PPc) showed similar J-aggregation behavior as Zn-TPc. Based on the J-aggregation mechanism of α-aryI/aIkoxy-substituted zinc phthalocyanines(Pcs) in non-coordinating solvents, two novel azobenzene-phthalocyanine dyads (3-azo-ZnPc and 4-azo-ZnPc) were synthesized with the aim of developing Pc compounds whose ability to form J-aggregation could be photo-modulated. It was found that 3-azo-ZnPc in chloroform could be effectively photo-controlled in a wide range. This phenomenon could be explained by the changes in the geometry and dipole moment of azobenzene during the photo-isomerization process. 4-azo-ZnPc did not have this ability at all, with or without UV light illumination. The positions of the oxygen atoms to which the aryl/alkoxy substitution was attached relatively were found important in determining the aggregation ability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Recently, coral-associated microorganisms have attracted widespread attention, and most of these studies have focused on stony and soft corals. However, our knowledge of the diversity and bioactivity of microorganisms in gorgonian corals is still limited. In this study, the biodiversity of microbes in two gorgonian corals (Leptogorgia rigida and Menella kanisa) from the South China Sea was investigated by combining traditional culture method with molecular biology technique (bacterial 16S or fungal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) rRNA gene sequences). A total of 216 bacterial and 98 fungal isolates were obtained using 4 different isolation media. These isolates were identified and belonged to 31 bacterial and 12 fungal species, suggesting an unexpectedly diverse microbial community harbored in the South China Sea gorgonian corals L. rigida and M. kanisa. Furthermore, 56% of the tested microbial isolates displayed various antifouling activities against four biofouling organisms (including two microfouling bacteria Micrococcus luteus and Shewanella onedensis , and two macrofouling organisms Bugula neritina and Balanus amphitrite). Among the microbial isolates with antifouling activity, Bacillus firmus SCAU-038 and Streptomyces parvulus SCAU-062 displayed moderate or strong antifouling activity against all tested biofouling organisms. This is the first study on the biodiversity and antifouling activity of microorganisms associated with gorgonians L. rigida and M. kanisa from the South China Sea. Ubiquitin specific peptidase 5 (USP5), a member of deubiquitinating enzymes, has garnered significant attention for its crucial role in cancer progression. This study aims to explore the role of USP5 and its potential molecular mechanisms in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). To explore the effect of USP5 on CCA , gain-of-function and loss-of-function assays were conducted in human CCA cell lines RBE and HCCC9810. The CCK8, colony-forming assay, EDU, flow cytometry, transwell assay and xenografts were used to assess cell proliferation, migration and tumorigenesis. Western blot and immunohistochemistry were performed to measure the expression of related proteins. Immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence were applied to identify the interaction between USP5 and Y box-binding protein 1 (YBX1). Ubiquitination assays and cycloheximide chase assays were carried out to confirm the effect of USP5 on YBX1. We found USP5 is highly expressed in CCA tissues, and upregulated USP5 is required for the cancer progression. Knockdown of USP5 inhibited cell proliferation, migration and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in vitro, along with suppressed xenograft tumor growth and metastasis in vivo. Mechanistically, USP5 could interact with YBX1 and stabilize YBX1 by deubiquitination in CCA cells. Additionally, silencing of USP5 hindered the phosphorylation of YBX1 at serine 102 and its subsequent translocation to the nucleus. Notably, the effect induced by USP5 overexpression in CCA cells was reversed by YBX1 silencing. Our findings reveal that USP5 is required for cell proliferation, migration and EMT in CCA by stabilizing YBX1, suggesting USP5-YBX1 axis as a promising therapeutic target for CCA. • USP5 is highly expressed in CCA tissues, and promotes cancer progression. • USP5 stabilizes YBX1. • USP5 promotes YBX1 phosphorylation at serine 102 and its translocation to nucleus. This research investigated the presence of Burkholderia gladioli pathovar cocovenenans (BGC) in wet rice and starch products, Tremella , and Auricularia auricula in Guangzhou, China. It examined BGC growth and bongkrekic acid (BA) production in wet rice noodles and vermicelli with varying rice flour, edible starch ratios, and oil concentrations. A qualitative analysis of 482 samples revealed a detection rate of 0.62%, with three positive for BGC. Rice flour-based wet rice noodles had BA concentrations of 13.67 ± 0.64 mg/kg, 2.92 times higher than 100% corn starch samples (4.68 ± 0.54 mg/kg). Wet rice noodles with 4% soybean oil had a BA concentration of 31.72 ± 9.41 mg/kg, 5.74 times higher than those without soybean oil (5.53 ± 1.23 mg/kg). The BA concentration correlated positively (r = 0.707, P < 0.05) with BGC contamination levels. Low temperatures (4 °C and −18 °C) inhibited BGC growth and BA production, while higher storage temperatures (26 °C and 32 °C) promoted BGC proliferation and increased BA production. Reducing edible oil use and increasing edible starch can mitigate the risk of BGC-related food poisoning in wet rice noodles and vermicelli production. Further research is needed to find alternative oils that do not enhance BA production. Previous studies have reported the correlations between bacterial communities and coral bleaching, but the knowledge of fungal roles in coral bleaching is still limited. In this study, the taxonomic and functional diversities of fungi in unbleached, partly bleached and bleached stony coral Acropora intermedia were investigated through the ITS-rRNA gene next-generation sequencing. An unexpected diversity of successfully classified fungi (a total of 167 fungal genera) was revealed in this study, and the partly bleached coral samples gained the highest fungal diversity, followed by bleached and unbleached coral samples. Among these fungi, 122 genera (nearly 73.2%) were rarely found in corals in previous studies, such as Calostoma and Morchella , which gave us a more comprehensive understanding of coral-associated fungi. Positively correlated fungal genera (Calostoma , Corticium , Derxomyces , Fusicolla , Penicillium and Vishniacozyma) and negative correlated fungal genera (Blastobotrys , Exophiala and Dacryopinax) with the coral bleaching were both detected. It was found that a series of fungal genera, dominant by Apiotrichum , a source of opportunistic infections, was significantly enriched; while another fungal group majoring in Fusicolla , a probiotic fungus, was distinctly depressed in the bleached coral. It was also noteworthy that the abundance of pathogenic fungi, including Fusarium , Didymella and Trichosporon showed a rising trend; while the saprotrophic fungi, including Tricladium , Botryotrichum and Scleropezicula demostrated a declining trend as the bleaching deteriorating. The rising of pathogenic fungi and the declining of saprotrophic fungi revealed the basic rules of fungal community transitions in the coral bleaching, but the mechanism of coral-associated fungal interactions still lacks further investigation. Previous studies have revealed links between metal(loid)s and health problems; however, the link between metal(loid)s and obesity remains controversial. We evaluated the cross-sectional association between metal(loid) exposure in whole blood and obesity among the general population. Vanadium (V), chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), arsenic (As), selenium (Se), molybdenum (Mo), cadmium (Cd), antimony (Sb), thallium (T1), and lead (Pb) were measured in 3029 subjects in Guangdong Province (China) using ICP-MS. The prevalence of overweight and obesity (OWO) and abdominal obesity (AOB) was calculated according to body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC), respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that elevated blood Cu, Cd, and Pb levels were inversely associated with the risk of OWO, and these associations were confirmed by a linear dose-response relationship. Elevated blood Co concentration was associated with a decreased risk of AOB. A quantile g-computation approach showed a significantly negative mixture-effect of 13 metal(loid)s on OWO (OR: 0.96; 95% CI: 0.92, 0.99). Two metals—Ni and Mo—were inversely associated with the risk of OWO but positively associated with AOB. We cross-grouped the two obesity measurement types and found that the extremes of metal content were present in people with AOB only. In conclusion, blood Cu, Mo, Ni, Cd, and Pb were inversely associated with the risk of OWO. The presence of blood Co may be protective, while Ni and Mo exposure might increase the risk of AOB. The association between metal(loid) exposure and obesity warrants further investigation in longitudinal cohort studies. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has caused a devastating global pandemic, which has seriously affected human health worldwide. The discovery of therapeutic agents is extremely urgent, and the viral structural proteins are particularly important as potential drug targets. SARS-CoV-2 envelope (E) protein is one of the main structural proteins of the virus, which is involved in multiple processes of the virus life cycle and is directly related to pathogenesis process. In this review, we present the amino acid sequence of the E protein and compare it with other two human coronaviruses. We then explored the role of E protein in the viral life cycle and discussed the pathogenic mechanisms that E protein may be involved in. Next, we summarize the potential drugs against E protein discovered in the current studies. Finally, we described the possible effects of E protein mutation on virus and host. This established a knowledge system of E protein to date, aiming to provide theoretical insights for mitigating the current COVID-19 pandemic and potential future coronavirus outbreaks. Photoactivatable metallodrugs combining tumor cell eradication and immune stimulation hold immense promise for targeted cancer therapy. However, limitations such as oxygen dependence, narrow visible light responsiveness, and poor immunogenicity hinder their efficacy in deep solid tumors with hypoxic and immunosuppressive microenvironments. Herein, we present a novel design strategy for transition metal(II)-coordinated ligand radicals exhibiting intense near-infrared-II (NIR-II) absorption, unique endoplasmic reticulum-targeting capability, and oxygen-independent photothermal performance, effectively addressing these constraints. Proof-of-concept results demonstrate the potent efficacy of our cobalt(II)-coordinated ligand radical ( BPDP-Co ) in inducing highly immunogenic pyroptosis in tumor cells under both normoxic and severe hypoxic conditions upon 1064 nm laser irradiation. This NIR-II activation triggers the release of damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) and proinflammatory cytokines, fueling a robust antitumor immune response. In vivo studies demonstrate that treatment with BPDP-Co /NIR-II significantly inhibited 4T1 tumor growth in BALB/c mice with a high inhibitory rate of 85.7%, highlighting its therapeutic potential in tumor immunotherapy.

Edible fungi polysaccharides (EFPs) and gut microbiota (GM) play an important role in lipid metabolism. The structure of GM is complex and can be dynamically affected by the diet. EFPs can be used as dietary intervention to improve lipid metabolism directly, or by regulate the GM to participate in the host lipid metabolism by a complex mechanism. In this paper, we reviewed that EFPs regulate the balance of GM by increasing the number of beneficial bacteria and decreasing the number of harmful bacteria in the intestinal tract. The metabolites of GM are mainly bile acids (BAs), short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), and lipopolysaccharides (LPS). EFPs can promote the synthesis of BAs and increase the content of SCFAs that produced by GM fermented EFPs, but reduce the content of LPS to regulate lipid metabolism. Prunella vulgaris is widely used as the main ingredient of herb tea in Southeast Asia, as well as a traditional Chinese medicine. However, the heavy metal contaminations such as arsenic, cadmium, mercury and lead in P. vulgaris may be a cause for concern due to the environment pollution around, plantation and processing contamination. Thus, this study intented to assess both non-carcinogenic risks and carcinogenic risks attributed to cumulative exposure to the four heavy metals in P. vulgaris. The contaminations levels of heavy metals were determined in 90 batches of P. vulgaris. And the consumption level was obtained through a questionnaire survey among a total of 6,235 adult participants in Guangdong province. This study estimated the probabilistic health risks using Monte Carlo simulation, and found that the estimated mean and the 95th percentile values for cumulative noncarcinogenic risk (HI value) and carcinogenic risk (TCR value) of P. vulgaris were all within the acceptable risk. And the assessment results indicated that arsenic was the primary contributors to both noncarcinogenic and carcinogenic risks through P. vulgaris consumption. Antidiabetic peptides (ADPs), peptides with potential antidiabetic activity, hold significant importance in the treatment and control of diabetes. Despite their therapeutic potential, the discovery and prediction of ADPs remain challenging due to limited data, the complex nature of peptide functions, and the expensive and time-consuming nature of traditional wet lab experiments. This study aims to address these challenges by exploring methods for the discovery and prediction of ADPs using advanced deep learning techniques. Specifically, we developed two models: a single-channel CNN and a three-channel neural network (CNN + RNN + Bi-LSTM). ADPs were primarily gathered from the BioDADPep database, alongside thousands of non-ADPs sourced from anticancer, antibacterial, and antiviral peptide datasets. Subsequently, data preprocessing was performed with the evolutionary scale model (ESM-2), followed by model training and evaluation through 10-fold cross-validation. Furthermore, this work collected a series of newly published ADPs as an independent test set through literature review, and found that the CNN model achieved the highest accuracy (90.48 %) in predicting the independent test set, surpassing existing ADP prediction tools. Finally, the application of the model was considered. SeqGAN was used to generate new candidate ADPs, followed by screening with the constructed CNN model. Selected peptides were then evaluated using physicochemical property prediction and structural forecasts for pharmaceutical potential.
